We went to Hanyang Jokbal on a Sunday evening, around 5pm. The restaurant was not busy and we got seated right away. The restaurant is famous for pork leg and pork bone soup. We ordered A1, Original taste Jokbal. The server came shortly to take our order and the free refillable side dishes came shortly, kimchi was the best that we had, it was spicy but not too salty like other places, we really liked it. The side dish also includes a bowl of clear soup which was very tasty (not meso soup), we enjoyed that as well. The Jokbal (pork leg) came a while later, and the portion was very generous, even for 2 person. The Jokbal was tender, the skin was not greasy and has lots of collagen. There is a dish of lettuce which is refillable to wrap the Jokbal.
Overall a very unique Korean food experience, will definitely recommend the restaurant to others.

Amazing first time there! Can’t wait to go back again. Had the gamja tower - what amazing portioning and selection of items. The broth was flavourful and not too spicy! The DIY rice balls were yummy and made for some fun! Parking was tough on a Saturday night! We got lucky going early at 6, as the restaurant quickly filled up with a line out the door.

Never tried Jokbal before so this was definitely a new experience for me. Was looking for a Korean restaurant that was a bit different from what I usually have (bibimbap for life!) and stumbled across this place. There's normally a bit of a wait but because it was just me and my bf, we managed to get a table quickly. The atmosphere itself was nice, but it was very small and because of that, it was very loud. Our table was in a corner though so it was a little bit better than the tables that were in the middle of the restaurant. The food itself was absolutely amazing. We got the Spicy Jokbal, which wasn't overly spicy so that was nice. The pork itself was soft and wasn't tough to chew, which is something I tend to not like about pork so I was pleasantly surprised by that. The servers were friendly but we found that they did check in on us a lot more than other servers do in other restaurants, which was a little bit odd to us. Overall though, not a bad experience and would definitely go back, but maybe for takeout this time.

This is the most delicious Korean restaurant I have eaten in Canada. The pig's feet are at the level of restaurants in Korea, and the gamjatang and kimchi stew were good. I thought rice balls were expensive because they cost $10, but when I saw what they came out, they looked luxurious.

Love the way they prepare the pork. Best Korean pork. You don't feel any greasiness at all eating the pork rinds. Taste just right. Not too salty. Tofu is great, nicely prepared. Love the way the seafood / egg pizza-like dish. Everything is just perfect. Love it.

My husband and I fell in love with Spicy Pork Bone Soup (Gamjatang), the moment we first tasted it in Seoul! The hotness and spiciness of the flavorful broth will keep you wanting more! And the tender fall-off-the bone meat melts in your mouth

Since then, Gamjatang have been our favorite Korean soup! We always look for it when we eat at Korean restaurants. When we saw Gamja Tower, a giant Gamjatang at Hanyang Jokbal, we definitely should try it!

Our Gamjatang cravings were fully satisfied! It tasted exactly like what we ate in Seoul. The only missing ingredient was the perilla leaf which adds a bit of spice and kick. But it still tasted delicious!

It was also our first time making our own rice ball. And their DIY Rice Ball is surprisingly good! I love the different textures: the crunch from the toasted sesame, the popping fish roe and a burst of umami in every bite You should definitely try it too! It balances the spiciness from the Gamjatang.

I think this might be a hidden gem in Scarborough, we also didn't see it in the plaza near to the no frills. This Gamjtang Tower is pretty outstanding (only available at the Scarborough location). It's big big and there is a lot of a food. If you don't bring enough friends with you, you can expect to be eating the leftovers for a few days. We didn't know where to start when it arrived. They also have a promo for 2 towers. The restaurant itself also features casual dining and nice décor.

Had a nice casual dinner with some friends. The place was full at the time we were there so be sure to make a reservation. We had their signature jokbal and pork bone towel soup, both were delicious. They don't offer side dishes or rice with the entree, but the portion was enough for all 5 of us. The price was reasonable and the service was ok. We had to wave the server down a couple times to get their attention.

My girlfriend had brought in a birthday cake to eat after our meal and had asked the staff to put the cake in the fridge upon arrival; the restaurant obliged. However as we were wrapping up and asked to bring the cake out, it was only then were we told "no outside food and drinks" were permitted. We had celebrated a birthday here 4 months ago and didnt face this issue, we were told the policy had changed recently. We told the staff we're celebrating a birthday here, and would like to have our cake but they remained firm with their policy.

You have your own polices, and while it may seem silly to customers I get it, it's your business you have your reasons. However, when I made the reservation this uncommon practice was never brought up. There were no signs on the store front or inside the restaurant noting this policy. Even when my girlfriend asked to put the cake in the fridge they did not tell us about this. It was only AFTER dinner when we were EXPECTING to have our cake that we were told "no outside food and drinks" allowed. Worst part was when we voiced our concerns, the person we were speaking to did not appear to understand the implications of their policy at all, or was able to validate our concerns and recognize their fault in the matter. All they would do was repeat, "I'm sorry our policy changed, no outside food or drinks. " No exception, even for celebrations. Ridiculous. If you have this kind of unconventional policy, guests need to be made aware of this at the INITIAL point of contact or at the bare minimum when we show up with a cake in our hand.

Food and service are excellent, but dont expect the restaurant to allow you to celebrate a birthday there.

Saw their pork bone soup tower on Instagram, came here for dinner for that, and was not disappointed! The inside was very nicely decorated and felt cozy. There's a limited number of tables so you may have to wait a bit during peak meal times. The pork bone soup tower itself was delicious, with large portions of pork bone, potato, and delicious soup. My only minor complaint is that it was a bit on the spicier side. They also offer the standard Korean complimentary side dishes as well as a wide variety of flavoured sojus. Service was friendly and attentive. All in all a great experience.

Great Korean place, price is slightly higher than avg, but taste is top notch, all the dishes ordered are great, definitely recommended! All the dishes are from the chief recommended menu, don’t think the rest will be any lower standard. Showed up late in the night, no wait time as well

The garlic jokbal (pork hock) is soo good! It’s soft, tender and comes with tons of cooked garlic. It’s so tasty wrapped In lettuce with the ssamjang plus raw garlic. The portion is so big that it’s good to share with as many as 4 people. We also got the bossam which I wouldn’t order again. It was just cubed stir fried pork, arguably dry too. The diy rice balls was a fun interactive dish that we also enjoyed.

We had the spicy bossam and DIY balls, both absolutely delicious! The portions are generous, and the service was amazing. Both myself and my partner were so happy to find this place, will definitely come back!

My favourite korean food place and I almost come here once a month (or the one in Yonge street but I feel like the Scarborough branch gives bigger portions) The original jokbal here is amazing and the portion is great! The DIY riceballs were also really fun to make and tastes so good.

We came to Hanyang Jokbal on weekday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was empty so the service was quick and the waiter also checked in on us. We ordered the Original Jokbal with the Pork Bone Soup. The jokbal was perfect! It was chewy on the outside and the meat was soft inside. The flavour was also delicious! The side dishes were marinated green onions, kimchi, garlic, samjang and lettuce to make wraps. However they only gave us 3 pieces of lettuce for 2 people (see pic 2). This was definitely not enough and the newest menu stated that side dish refills are an extra cost to the customer so we ordered a rice. In additon, the pork bone soup was quite salty so maybe when you order ask for less salt. The rice helped make the soup taste less salty.

Excellent service and the garlic jokbal (pig's trotters/pork hock) was sooo flavourful and delish! Loved the seasoned rice ball as well - it's an experience and also yummy! Perfect dishes to share, and we went home with two boxes of jokbal leftovers too. So many great spots in this plaza and I will definitely be back here again soon

Came for birthday lunch with my family. It wasn't my first time having jokbal but it was my family's. It turned out to be one of the best meals of the year so far.

The toppings were great, shredded thinly and pickled well. The pork bone soup is $10 if you get a main dish too and it was well worth it. The seafood pancake has lots of chunky shrimp and squid. The jokbal was also amazing of course, with enormous portions.

I highly recommend coming here to try this Korean specialty.

We went to Hanyang jokbal (Scarborough) during a Friday for dinner. We made reservations ahead of time for a party of 10 (but we actually had 11 people) and luckily we did because it was very busy. So, if you’re planning to go, make sure you make a reservation ahead of time (at least a day in advance).

We got the Original Jokbal ($38) and the Bossam ($40). We preferred the jokbal more because the fattiness gave it a lot more flavour whereas the Bossam was kind of dry for us. Since we got the mains, we were able to get the $10 pork bone soup special (originally $16). The soup was quite spicy for us, but if you enjoy spicy then you will probably like it. The meat was very tender though.

Next, we got the DIY riceball ($10), Spicy cold noodle ($24), and Seafood pancake ($20). We recommend all these dishes; the portions are big, very flavourful, and great side dishes to have with the mains which is just meat.

The waiters were so kind and very responsive. They got us an extra table when we had more guests. They also got us more water and tissues right away when we asked for some. Highly recommend this place!

Some tips: you can get more lettuce for free, you just need to ask. And if you pay in cash, you get 5% off.

Great food portions for pork hock. There are a variety of flavours to choose from and different toppings.

I live in Scarborough but I never try to go to this restaurant. This is I first time to came here that's my Korean boyfriend bring me. He said the Pork feet is the main dishes and famous. And yes the Pork feet is delicious and the seafood pancakes is good too. Except the noodle is a little sticky. Mostly staff are Korean. The food is very Korean. Lol

The pork bone soup is amazingly done and $9.99 if you pair with a share plate of Jokbal ($16 if not) that’s in the $40-42 range but easily good for 3 people as a stand alone meal (or 4 people if it’s paired with say the pork bone soup).

Delicious jokbal! Good quality and quantity of food. Spicy jokbal and the DIY riceballs were so good! The restaurant was well designed (newly renovated), very clean and the staff were so friendly and kind.

Hanyang Jokbal is a unique spot to get your fix of Korean braised pork hock. Hanyang was the prior name of Seoul, where this dish gained popularity. This is the second location following their North York location success.

We ordered both the Braised Pork Hocks and the Spicy Grilled Pork Hocks. These were braised for hours ahead of time. The latter being flame grilled then cooked with gochujang & rice cakes added on. The meal started with a salty bean sprout soup that helped to cleanse the palate. Hocks aren’t exactly my preferred cuts but these were well-seasoned, succulent gelatinous cuts without the typical gaminess.

Lettuce wraps & garnishes such as kimchi, jalapeño, scallions were provided to balance out the meaty flavour. For fun, our party added DIY Seasoned Rice Balls which came with a variety of ingredients to mix using the provided plastic gloves. Such a great idea; the tasty rice balls were easy to make with furikake, nori, mayo, sesame & tobiko.

This restaurant is located at 633 Silver Star Blvd plaza south of Pacific Mall. Be mindful that the road is disconnected south of here. An outdoor patio was available for our early dining. The inside became packed with folks enjoying jokbal, some for the first time like us!

Went there for half and half along with the $10 pork bone soup special. Location was convenient and staff was super friendly. We had refills on the lettuce and side dishes. The half and half was not overly salty at all and portion size was huge. This dish could easily be for 4 people. We ate half and had half to go.

Prices were reasonable and would definitely go back to try their other dishes.
