Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Ottawa 快乐小羊

Food was good, young server lacked customer service skills. Server was unable to articulate the choices that were available to start our meal. Service was slow, we were not attended to and staff did not go out of their way to make it an enjoyable dining experience.

The meals and service were beyond my expectations. We surely loved the atmosphere of this spot. Fantastic spot to take my family out for dinner.

Great restaurant. You can eat all you want here and it doesn't cost much. I love the lamb and beef.

Friends reunion during noon. Very unpleasant experience: super slow service; Missed lots of ordered dishes; No green onion and coriander available on the sauce table. The worst is I found a ball of dirty hair sticks on the meat during eating. Although the restaurant offered 10% off on adults price, still feel disgusting now. Will not back to this place and do not recommend this restaurant.

Overall it is good. I’m from Chongqing, so it’s not spicy enough but it tastes good. Service is bad because there’re only a few staff. Some dishes are not available.

Food was Ok but not worth the cost. Service was regrettably one of the lowest in the bracket. There were several orders that were missed. Upon paying, the cashier said that because there's more than 5 in our group, she added 15% on the bill. I've been to a lot of restaurants but this one charged us 15% more because we are a group of more than 5?
Let this be a warning to those who might consider this. Better to make your own hot pot at home. It will be so much better!
The reason for the 2 stars? I liked their soymilk.

The food items came out at different intervals despite being ordered at the same time. The noodles didn’t arrive to the table until 1 hour into the meal. It was difficult to get service and we had to flag down the staff to get water and return items that we didn’t order and were dropped off on our table.

The food was average but for $50 a person the lacking service doesn’t match the price.

Save your money and go somewhere cheaper or spend the same and get better food/service elsewhere.

Disappointed! One of their employee tell us to tip 15% which I add $25 to my bill! Is every restaurants does this?

It's always a pleasure to go to the Happy Lamb. So delicious and food quality is amazing and the staff is very friendly.

The best hotpot in the city. The broth that they have is really flavourful, although the service can be slow and sometimes the servings/portions are so little.

I came here with my friends looking for a new experience, we are all not of Mongolian or even asian nationality so we came in knowing absolutely nothing. The food was really good and the service was great. However as people who had no idea about how everything works it was quite difficult. I think the low star reviews are more about people not understanding the concept than actually not liking the food. I think I will definitely come back knowing now that there is a less spicy option and since I have the experience this time. I highly recommend the experience!

The service was decent. Any staff member seemed to be our waiter or waitress. Empty dish removal and water refill were on time and perfect

Not worth your money. It’s extremely expensive for a buffet (around 40-50/person) and there is absolutely no service at all. For about 20 people on site there were only two waiters. No wonder they have no service. They pass by you like they can’t see your order or dirty dish yet they still except tips. Would not recommend this place, definitely not going back

First time eating here to celebrate mothers day. Food was great. Nice and helpful customer service. I just wish that there is a choice for.level of hotness in the soup base coz there's a ton of chili in ours.

Looking at the reviews I was doubting if it’s worth a shot and it’s actually better than I expected. If you’re wanting to have more stuff on the menu you should go to Liuyishou and if you just wanna eat meat this is the place. There’s not much to choose at the sauce bar but you got the basics you need. And if you think somethings not satisfying enough remember it’s only 30bucks

My first time having hot pot in Ottawa and I was pleasantly surprised that it was up to par with the Toronto location! Service was pretty quick and food was great.

Really good experience. Love hot pot. I have them 4 stars because sometimes they forget what you've checked off in the menu. Sometimes they forget the water refills. Service can be friendlier but overall we had a great for experience.

Waited 1.5 hours to receive our first order, had to remind wait staff multiple times that items from my order was missing. Sauce bar was empty the whole time we were there. Meat and vegetables were bad quality. Not returning

Went there for dinner tonight and had an amazing experience. The place is extremely clean and looks like it has just been newly renovated on the inside. Payed about 35$ for dinner after tax and every and I have to say it is well worth it. You have a variety of meats, seafood and veggies to choose from and the broths taste amazing too. All you can eat as well, which is a plus. All in all I highly recommend this place and I will be going back again soon.

Went to this place with a group of five. We finished the food (a good amount of the food did not even come), and we went to pay. At the pay desk, the person behind the machine forced the machines to utilize a 15% tip for all 5 of our bills. Upon asking the reason for this, they stated that due to having a group of 5 people, the MAXIMUM 15% tip was mandatory. Tipping is not mandatory and I will not tip for poor service. Disgusting.

I’m very disappointed with the service we received when I came with my parents. First of all, we ordered a bunch of stuff in the first round but only got about 1/2 of what we asked for. Second, we ordered garlic beef twice (2 rounds) and never got it, in fact, we ordered two beef platters in the second round just to be told that there was no more beef or pork, they said they just had chicken left, which I found quite ridiculous considering the fact that they didn’t tell us before hand. Third, my family and I ended up paying $100 for vegetables because they kept forgetting to get our meat. In short, I won’t be coming again because it was a total waste of money for vegetables.

Nice clean place. The server was very personable. The hot soup was really spicy i could not handle it. I was quite upset. The did not bring all that we ordered. We made one order of the meat (10 slivers) and when we ordered the second round they said the meat had run out. So basically i paid 26 bucks to eat vegetables. Not going back.

Always a massive hit. Good quality meats, seafood, veggies and carbs for an AYCE price. I can't get enough of the lamb! They have an amazing selection of broths, but the spicy butter is the best and the most flavourful IMO. Wide choices of ingredients at the sauce bar too. Service can be a bit slow when they are understaffed- but if you're patient, it's a great experience and a fun time with friends!

Service: Only two servers working and even though it wasnt a busy day (Saturday), service was super slow and inattentive. Food orders were incomplete. During our meal, the server never checked on us and we had to flag him to get water or refill broth. While taking the empty dishes away, the server spilled some water and didnt bother coming back to wipe our table.
Food: Decent quality for vegetables and dumplings. Pork and beef were bad quality, non-edible and were extremely fat. (90% fat)
Overall very disappointing, this location really gives Happy Lamb a bad reputation as I've been to Happy Lamb at other places and they were much much better in terms of service/ quality of food. It was a bad experience and I feel like they stole a meal from me. I will not come back.

It’s been a year since franchise in my city haven’t opened because of COVID (d***), the only way I could satisfy my stomach is to drive two hour come to the nearest one near me. It has been consistently good ever, thank you so much for keep it going under this hard time.

Food is genuinely delicious with the best soup base I ever tried as for hot pots. And the service is amazing and fast (they are flying lol). Again, keep it going, I will definitely come every time I drop by Ottawa.

Food is great. Service is good, though servers may be understaffed and overwhelmed at times. Ordering can be inaccurate. The kitchen does not always supply the correct amount of food ordered, which causes confusion when re-ordering another round. It would be preferable if the food amount was accurate and customers who waste food are charged extra for it

[Update] I visited this place yesterday Nov 29th, 2020, Sunday during lunchtime. It has been a while since I visited here last time in summer 2019 when I got a horrible experience.

I should say I was very impressed with their huge improvement in everything. I've escorted to a table without a long wait. The place was not crowed with clean table and distanced tables between other customers. The food quality was the best and the servers were very kind, polite and attentive.

I have no idea if they have a new management now, but overall, I had a very good experience. The whole meal and the time there made my day very happy. Definitely will go back.

The Worst Customer Service Ever In The World!

I want to give 0 star, however unfortunately, there is no option for it.
They were short on staffs and had an AWFUL service skill. Do Not Visit This Place!

The manager was extremely RUDE. He decided to take 13% tips himself after all the bad service and attitude. He literally punched the 13% tips to the machine without asking me about the number. Later, he said that 13% is the minimum tips that I have to pay. When I asked if there is an actual policy about the tip, he said NO. (It wasn't my first visit this time and no other servers asked/told me about it before.) What is worse is that when I was talking to him, he rudely interrupted and made a sarcastic comment.

I don’t understand how this kind of brutal guy can be a manager of a restaurant.shocking!

Food was very good overall. It had many choices for dinner. The only downside that the service of a little bit slow.

I was a huge fan of the Little Sheep in New York City, so when I moved to Ottawa, I was thrilled to find a Little Sheep nearby. After two extremely disappointing experiences at the Ottawa location, I have no plans to return. The staff, the service, the food, and the cleanliness were all very poor.

I never saw the same server twice. Servers would come by, often in groups, chatting among themselves, and drop off food at my table without a word to me. Sometimes food that I ordered never came. Other times, food I didn't order mysteriously arrived. When I asked what one item was, the server could not even identify what they had just put on the table. When I said I didn't order it, the server asked if I was sure, pointing to the order form as if it indicated I did. But if you don't even know *what* the food is, how can you be sure I ordered it?

The plates were dirty, with some weird orange oily residue. We asked for new plates, which were cleaner, though I wouldn't exactly call them clean. The sauce bar area is downright unsanitary, with wide-open containers, spoons that make spilling a certainty, and congealed sauce everywhere. Considering one of the sauces contains peanuts, you'd think they'd try harder to keep the sauces from spilling and mixing.

The food quality was poor. Some of the vegetables were dirty and starting to spoil. The tofu was freezer-burned and stale. The meatballs were as dense as neutron star, and I felt a black hole in my stomach forming as I tried to eat them. The only food that seemed fresh was the sliced meat.

In summary, do not waste your time and money at Little Sheep in Ottawa. Hopefully I can find another hot pot place to get my fix, but otherwise, I'll wait for my next trip to New York City. This place is just plain gross.

The broth is amazing as expected. The selection is as large as you'd expect. It's your typical hot pot place. The service is mediocre - it almost seems like they are always understaffed.eg. It takes a while to be seated, the condiments section is always low, your meat is usually forgotten.
But nonetheless, it's my default hotpot place. Expect to pay about 60-65 dollars for a dinner for two

We went with our office for a Christmas Lunch. We waiting 30 minutes to ask someone to get some drinks, I had to get our own wine glasses to actually drink our drinks, then they brought our food in stages so we were so hungry by the time we received our meat and noodles we were not able to enjoy the experience. We also noticed that looks like the regulars were served before us. Not impressed.

This hot pot restaurant is a favorite of mine and my friends. There are lots of selections to put in the broth, with both mild and spicy broth available to choose from. The wait staff are pleasant to interact with and watch well for any more ordering to go through. And the environment is very nice, the restaurant being large and decorated quite pleasantly. Overall, if you enjoy hot pot, you should try this place out.

Extremely horrendous service on a Saturday night. Walked in for 15 mins, eye contact with several different servers few times, no one came to greet us, or asked how many of us there are.

Dirty tables left untouched before we were even here. Employees just walking around leisurely like nothing needs to be done.

2 customers walked in later than us, and a random server greeted them and asked how many they are, and sat them down right away without acknowledging my group of 3, and andndnother individual customer who was waiting there before us.

We love to spend an hour or more here creating the most delicious spicy pot. Soy milk is a must if you're going the spicy route. We have to go here regularly to satisfy intense cravings for their food.

By far the most disapointing Little Sheep experience.
The restaurant was filthy, it took forever to be seated even when there were free tables. We gave the slip to a busboy who apparently lost the paper as told by the server who didn't even know we were there. It still took a long time to get our food and there were several mistakes. We had to run after him for more broth or water. Even paying was an ordeal as we got mischarged and they confused our bills.
On the way out we noticed full of pans and sauces that were leaking along the counter.
It clearly lacks management and good will.
I won't come again for sure.

Loved this place, it was really busy during the weekend for supper but worth the wait. Lots of fresh veggies and good selection of spicy or regular broth, meats and you can make your own sauce.

Food is good but service is terrible. Some items we ordered never arrived and we were never advised that they were out. Sauce station is not refilled often so many items are left empty for a long time. They ran out of many things when we were there ran out of coke and all types of ice cream except for vanilla and likely all the food items that were never delivered.

Do not ever go to this place after 8PM. The server will try to kick you out and give you attitude after that. Another customer came at 8: 30 PM, and the sign says they close at 11PM, the server just kicked them out. They also close the kitchen around before 8: 30PM so you basically cannot get anything after that. None of the seafood offered are fresh and the tofu is really unfresh as well. Do not recommend！！

The staffs are kind, but so slow and always missing something of your order, only 3 tables of customer, we waited more than 10 minutes to get our first plate of meat (only 1 plate of meat for 4 of us), another 10 minutes for the 2nd plate, we ask them sevral times for our order, if we don't ask, nothing.

A neat little place. Food is very good and for a reasonable price. Excellent place if you're looking to while away a few hours with friends or a date.

I love this place! There is a good selection of foods, however the service can be slow at times (especially at lunch) when there is only 2 servers working.

Hotpot styles with all you can eat but order was not complete.their vegetable older was so little! Even you keeping ordering still not given, when ordering spinach were a joke each time is 1 to 3 pieces single spinach!
