Food was amazing. I enjoyed the spicy lamb and my wife's dulet platter. Everything was wonderfully flavourful. The coffee was great as well. Thank you for your hospitality and service. We will definitely be back.

The food is great, and is fresh, and I really enjoy eating their Injera, it's very tasty. Prices are on the higher side for what it is, you can get similar meals at other Ethiopian restaurants with better portions and meat offerings.

My issue is more with their service/long wait times. I've visited a few times in the past and don't think it was ever this bad, but that may have been because it was more self serve when they did buffet.

Food takes a very long time and service is just overall very poor. Will still drop by and recommend, but just be prepared for that.

The wait can be long (about 30 minutes), but the food is truly amazing.
If you can’t eat very spicy food, tell them and they will accommodate you.
Vegetarian platter, tibs, doro wot are delicious with good portions of injera.

Way too expensive now for delivery. Used to recommend to friends and family but they massively increased their prices and it's lost most of it's value for money - especially given that they have quality control issues with the food. It's sometimes good and sometimes mediocre.

We waited over an hour for 3 plates to make it to the table and the restaurant wasn’t event half full - note that there are only about 10 tables, so whatever was going on in the kitchen is beyond me. The food is pretty good if you don’t mind waiting an hour for it. The vibe is OK, but it’s cheaply built and the seating and tables are uncomfortable considering how long the wait is. The service was just awful. No refill of the water until the food arrived. Ordered beer but that didn’t come for 45 minutes because the 3 servers all appeared to be in middle school and it wasn’t until an adult man came through and socialized with another table for 10 minutes before we could have our drinks served. He left promptly and we never got the second round we ordered either.
Summary, food pretty tasty, everything else was about the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Brutal way to run a business.

Best Ethiopian in Ottawa! Their veggie selection (and flavour) is unmatched and the staff are always so kind and accommodating. And at such an amazing deal too!

Great spot. Amazing family run place that makes you feel like you’re in someone’s home. The coffee is the greatest of all time and the food is perfect. Ethiopian in general is the best food the world.

Everything was late.
No napkins, no cutlery, ordered coffee and it came 45 minutes later.
I gave 4 stars because the food was great.

Went as a group of four and it was a great experience! I got the vegan, gluten free combo plate and it was AMAZING and at a great price too. Highly recommend this spot — and their injera was so fresh!

Cute family-owned restaurant on Bank Street serving Ethiopian cuisine in traditional surrounds. The vegetarian platter is suitable for vegans. It comes with a variety of vegetable- and legume-based stews that you eat with injera (teff flour flatbread). I loved the hands-on experience of eating without utensils! The stews were flavorful and the portion was very filling. The injera was served cold though (I'm not sure whether it's supposed to be like that or not). The price is very reasonable (15.25$) although increased from pre-pandemic price (13$).

I ordered delivery and it came quickly. I got the vegetarian combo platter (3 options). The Ye-misir wot (spicy), kik wot (non spicy), and ye-dinich ena carrot alicha wot. It was all delicious!

This was my first time here everything was beyond what I expected I would go back for sure

Excellent family run restaurant. The food was cooked to perfection and hot enough since you eat without cutlery. We chose a mix of chicken and vegetable dishes all served on a big plate to share. The chicken was flakey and moist, we had a hard boiled egg each and 6 stewed vegetables. They made fresh coffee for us with roasted beans on the spot. I recommend Hareg as a truly Ethiopian cuisine.

Very nice restaurant especially for a group outing as you can see by the big platters in the pictures. The food is very very good and if you like spicy food it's even better! The Injera is very yummy and being a hands on experience it really helps get a taste of everything.

I'd definitely recommend this place to friends a family. The service was very polite as well, and happy to help and answer questions on the dishes. The ambience is comfy too - there's art all around and there's news behind the bar if you want to watch.

Beer drinkers will be happy you can get Stella here too!

Best Ethiopian in Ottawa at extremely reasonable prices with a great hidden back patio. Seriously delicious food you need to try.

I come here for take out every time I'm in town. Never regret it. Good is authentic and so tasty. Owner is super nice and easy to talk to. Can't wait for the next trip.
