Totally amazing fish and chips the batter on the fish is superb light and airy non greasy staff is polite And friendly coming back very soon gene Garreau thank you
Sure doesn't seem like you value people's reviews on your hours for availability. Hopefully your other businesses taking up your time are more important and profitable? Maybe we won't bother at this point. We've been trying to get to Harry's to give it a try since the new owners took over but unfortunately it's always a Sunday and it's closed. With Christmas shoppers and people's busy schedules not to mention some looking for work you'd think you might adjust your hours. Maybe next time?
Come to Hamilton yearly and Harry’s is always a must when we’re here. Traditional fish & chips that are always spot on. You’re missing out if you aren’t getting your fish & chips at Harry’s
This location has changed owners a while back and so if you had any issues before please consider trying again. The server was friendly, the restaurant clean and nicely lit. The food was great! The batter on the fish was light and not greasy and had a great crunch. I'm not a big fish fan, we went because a friend wanted it but I would definitely go back for more
Wow has this place ever gone down hill since being taken over by new owners. First off way over priced and the wait to get food is way to long. The owner look like his head is spinning and he doesn't know which way is up or down. Fish is paper thin as well. Forgot an item as well. So we will not be going back again ever.
First time at Harry's last night. It is very simple dining but the food was AMAZING. The batter was light and crispy and good portions of fish and chips. The staff were friendly and the food is served up fast. Was very impressed. A definite return visit will be in order!
I have eaten here for years and the fish batter just keeps getting better and better or should I say less and less, but flavour is full. Had a serving tonight and by far best fish batter in the world. I have no idea how you do it, but keep it up! J. Orr
Well we finally got to Harry's Fish and Chips after so many of our friends have recommended it. We were not disappointed, we had the seafood platter and halibut and chips. We asked for onion rings instead of fries and were accommodated without question. The light and tasty breading on the fish was excellent. The portions were large and prices reasonable. Our server, Myla, was attentive and friendly. I have recommended it to others and we will be back. Thanks and see you again Myla!
Went for the Haddock. Nice price for the portions. Healthy portions that will not leave you hungry, however you will be asking for more as the flavor is amazing. This is my new favorite fish and chip place. I was in Wednesday evening 8/17/2022 between 6: 30 and 7: 00 please tell your staff well done! They are an awesome crew that delivered a new lifelong customer. Price point.check. Portions size. Big ole check. Flavor. Amazingly large check. A very pleasant surprise finding this well kept secret. The staff are very accommodating as it was my first time at this restaurant and was not aware of the ordering process. Just walk up to the counter and staff will approach you for any assistance. Eat in or take out. Btw the fish is really really good. It's my new favorite place for takeout. I want to try everything on the menu after having that amazing fish. Did I mention that the fish is good here. Well it is.
Very disappointed tonight.so greasy.especially the onion rings.dripping in oil. . Too much money wasted tonight.have been there many many times.so horrible tonight.will not go back
Very good fish and chips! Always! Crispy and light batter. We had the haddock and chips and the halibut and chips. This is our regular order. It’s a big helping and we had leftover fries which is awesome the next day in the airfare for 5min at 350 degrees We ordered carry out although there is several tables. We find staff and owner are very friendly which makes the short wait enjoyable.
Best fish n' chips in Hamilton. The fish batter is excellent. Thin but not too thin, flakey, and just the right amount of crunch. Big piece of fish that melts in your mouth. Fries are hand-cut and cooked perfectly. Tartar isn't homemade but sometimes that's a good thing depending on the recipe.
Visited Harry's Fish and Chips for the first and last time on Saturday. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 5pm, and yet the noise level was huge. A radio was playing loudly so besides music you also got commercials blaring into your ears. But atmosphere aside, I was hoping for some delicious fish and chips. I had scallops, which were fishy tasty, and I couldn't eat them without adding the tarter sauce which I had to wrestle out of the plastic packages. The French fries were soggy and tasteless, and the fish, which my husband ordered was also lacking in taste. The only redeeming factor was the waitress who was very attentive. Will not be returning.
Order didn't look appetizing. The french fries that I was given looked like I got every small bits and pieces that settled at the bottom of the fryer. Uneven cut of the fries. The fish batter did not coat the fish. This happens when oil used several days old. Taste bland. Price is steep for the quality of food sold. This is a good rated restaurant but quality, presentation of food served unacceptable. If this was cooked at home it would be acceptable but considering this is commercial establishment and people pay. The customers deserve better quality food. Not recommended.
Harry’s is great, great fries and great halibut but sadly the recent price hike is alittle TOO much.if I was rich I might keep going but I am far from that so I’m sad to say it’s just far to expensive to keep going.
I was really excited to try Harrys F&C as majority of reviews seems great but unfortunately I was very disappointed. -there phone line did not work to take orders -I decided to go there and place the order and wait. (I ordered Haddock and Chips and The Captains platter with shrimp.) Im not sure if it is just a bad day but my fish could not even be picked up or broken apart to dip in tartar sauce it so soggy and greasy.falling apart. You could squeeze the grease out. This made the fries super soggy underneath as well everythings was just greasy greasy. The shrimps were good but very tiny. Girl at front counter is friendly though!
Good food, big portions and quick friendly service with fair prices. Recently our trip was so good, it reminded me of how it was 20-25 years ago, taste wise. Only thing they could improve on is providing more tartar sauce. I would be willing to pay if it was needed but even when asking for more I never seem to get no more than a few packets.
My first time there, and it was great food. Today was warm, so I think the AC was working overtime. Friendly staff and customers. I will bring friends next time.
Very disappointed in my experience this time. Tried calling to place an order for over an hr and got no answer. I then went in person to make an order, I was told the phone did not ring buy another customer over herd the discussion and said she had the same issue. I'm now home with my food and I couldn't even take the fish out of the box it was put in it was so greasy it fell completely apart. Also the 2 orders of fish and chips were not separated leaving the portions of fries tiny for the cost of this meal I'm sure I I won't be going back again.
Made an order of halibut chips gravy onion rings and tartar sauce, didnt get my gravy, the tartar sauce i think you might get more in a packet then the little container they used, not happy first time customer, guess im headed over to sherman next time, update.just threw half in garbage what a waste of 25 dollars, aweful dinner, very disappointing when you just finished work and hungry.guess its sherman fish and chips from now on.
I have been going here for over 20 years and never disappoints. The only bad thing I could say about this place is that they have ruined all other fish and chips for me because theirs are so good! My husband who hates fish even loves it here.
First experience here and was very happy with the result. Fast and friendly service and the fish was crispy, tasty, and not greasy at all. Fresh cut fries were really good as well. Only very minor thing for me was they were a touch stingy on the tartar sauce BUT to be fair I didnt ask for extra either. We will definately return.
Love love love! Their fish is so delicate and and juicy and fresh.and the batter is perfectly crisp and light! Their fried mushrooms are a must try too
This spot is worth trying. They have large portions for affordable rates. Always well organized and with awesome ambience. I highly recommend this place.
I admire this spot! They serve decent food, their menu is nice, The chef in that place is a professional, I enjoy very much trying all their dishes. The dishes are always good, the service towards the visitors is nice. I often go to this place and I not even once was disappointed. I recommend it with no hesitation.
Harry's has very POOR customer service. We were hoping to make Harry's our Friday night diner but they DISAPPOINTED us. 1st week - We ordered 2 servings of fish and chips at the counter and even though it was a pick up order my wife always leaves a tip, $5 on a $20 order (25% tip). When the fish was cooked she asked for an extra tartar sauce. The server said "That will be an extra 25 cents! " 2nd Friday - We repeated the exercise and this time she only gave a $3.00 tip (15%) and again asked for an extra tartar sause and the lady said "That will be 25 cents! " 3rd Friday - We did the same and ordered 2 fish and chip meals and the tip was reduced to $1.00 for the pickup order. Again she asked for 1 extra tartar sauce and the lady said "That will be 25 cents. " Each of the 3 times my wife answered "In that case forget it" to the extra 25 cents. AS A RESULT, WE DON'T GO TO HARRY's ANYMORE. Instead we cook Janes Fish and Chips from Costco and bake it, no deep frying. It is 1/5 the price and it TASTES FANTASTIC. We don't have the INDIGESTION from Harry's overused oil they fry the fish in.
Order didn't look appetizing. The french fries that I was given looked like I got every small bits and pieces that settled at the bottom of the fryer. Uneven cut of the fries. First time here fish was good but very pricey ordered two halibut fish and chips with an extra piece of fish for both the price was $63.00 and the two of us ate all of it I can spend $50 on Chinese food and have enough for two meals at these prices I won't be back
Tried this restaurant out for the first time for dinner and let me tell you their fish and chips are outstanding! The batter is flavorful, the fish was of superb quality, the fries were cooked to perfection and the side of coleslaw was super tasty. They were quick and efficient and everything was packed up so nicely. Highly recommend!
Best fish and chips on the mountain! Small restaurant, so harder to get a table during busier times. My only complaint is that the price is quite high and the portions aren't as big as I've come expect from other places, But a nice treat here and there. Parking is always a pain to deal with her, so be prepared to have to circle around or wait for someone to leave.
