SUPER SOFT CREAM BUNS
We bought 6, devoured them, and immediately bought another 6
I tried their chestnut and matcha flavours - both were delicious, but the chestnut filling tasted heavier than the matcha filling which was super airy and light
Such a nice and “simple” dessert, will be coming back to try all their flavours

I came here years back when they first opened and the cream buns were so delicious and fluffy. I came back recently and noticed that the flavour is still the same but the bun itself isn’t as fluffy and the portion is smaller. Always nice staff though!

The buns we ordered tasted so good, especially the taro, matcha and chocolate flavour. But as many other reviews have stated, the service is not so great and needs improving.

The cashier was really rude, busy on her phone and didn’t even bother to respond to our ‘excuse me’. Good luck losing two potential customers.

Not too sweet and very soft! And their fortune telling paper was fun to enjoy a bit of japanese culture

Loved the chocolate bun! Custard was alright. The mung buns were sold out - until next time!

Cream buns are pretty good and they have seasonal flavors
I recently tried the shrimp sando which while good, was pricy for what you get.they have a cute fortune area where you can get your fortune

Azuki cream bun ‍️ (the food itself is actually decent. Super Soft bun, has a hint of alcohol? The red bean filling is also creamy, light, a good balance of sweetness. But given the price and the overall deco/vibe… idk just expecting underwhelmed?

Delicious fluffy Japanese custard buns, what is there not to love? Creamy yet delicate! Your beautiful cream buns brought so much joy to the nursing staff for our perioperative nursing week. Thank you Hattendo for supporting front line nurses, we truly appreciate the generosity from awesome businesses like yours. Thank you kindly

Amazing hot or iced hōjicha lattes. Strong and caramel forward flavour. Best one I have had in Toronto. Also try their sandwiches - shrimp and coleslaw.egg salad.or croquettes. A perfect small lunch.

Excellent egg sandwiches and fruit cream sandwiches. Iced Americano was slightly over roasted but didnt notice it too much. Great decor and very friendly staff. Also they have a fun fortune game to try while you wait for your coffee and sandwich. Theyre doing a mango fruit cream sandwich in the summer that is amazing.

Tiny cream buns for $4+ each. I got the seasonal special white peach flavor and while it wasn't bad, I don't see how it's worth the price tag. The bun wasn't as fluffy as I expected. Honestly I could get better buns at the many bakeries in nearby Chinatown.

The omikuji area was also empty. A shame because it would have made the experience a bit more interesting.

The bun is like breakfast type of dessert… not much surprise when you spend 3.69 before tax for such a small portion.

I love クリームパン so much. However, I don’t understand the service there. The female cashier doesn’t even know how to say Thank you. I gave her tips which did not deserve a Have a nice day! Although there is no 敬語 in English, we still need to respect each other, right?

It’s good but definitely really small for the price. And I wouldn’t say it’s a must try experience. Like some other reviews say… I think you can get the same if not better for less

A cream-packed fluffy bread! Price is a bit high, but it's not something you eat very often. Makes a create souvenir/gift! Pistachio cream was not that great tho (it's seasonal)

I ordered combo 3 and the custard cream bun off ubereats. The tamago egg bun is just a fancier more expensive version of egg salad sandwich. I got match tofu and houjicha black sesame latte as the sides. The tofu was alright, like a curd version of matcha latte. The drink is pretty nice if you like the “burnt” tea flavor like genmaicha or roasted grass jelly bubble tea. The custard bun is pretty good. Their buns remind me of a better softer version of the buns you get on an airplane.

I don’t know if the buns supposed to be “Smell & Taste” SOUR but as soon as we open it up the sour smell hit it and it does taste sour, for the bun only.
Cream is fine.
~$5 for a bun, too much for a bun imo.

Price: $4.20 a bun and other drinks and snacks for pretty cheap. Worth it

My experience: visited this location in person and loved it. Very cute and great customer service. Delicious cream buns my favourites were the taro, matcha, red bean & classic. Chocolate tastes like a chocolate mousse which is light and still very delicious. Basically you can't go wrong with anything you get and you'll be happy you tried it. I will be back to have more highly recommend!

*Not accessible as there are 3-5 stairs to the door

You can experience and taste the quality of their products, it's fresh, light and creamy, not overpowering. I like the zen vibe of the place, it's quiet and clean. Price is ok considering everything is made fresh. The ones sold in Chinatown doesn't compare in quality. Overall a very good experience

I had issues with my purchasing history so I called this location but the customer service was awful. She’d never respected me. I’m not gonna buy here and please don’t go guys if you don’t wanna cause trouble.

Came in the evening so they were all out of sandwiches and such but bought a few of their cream buns. Although I didn't like the Custard or Red Bean buns too much, I loved the Hojicha, Matcha and Chocolate buns. Nice flavours! Hope I can come again next time, earlier, to try one of their sandwiches!

Great little breads! Come in cold though but fillings are the highlights. Recommend azuki and personally I like hojicha so that was good too

Super fresh, simple Japanese bakery with yummy sandwiches and fresh puddings. The puddings are really incredible! My favourite items on the menu are the tamago (egg salad) sandwich and the caramel pudding.

While they taste good they almost always run out of the sandwiches I like. 4 out of 5 times. Just stock up more frequently please!

Great little Japanese bun. The cream is definitely delicious and not too rich. The shop is tiny, but the sweets so a must try.

It was a Monday night. Downtown was emptying out from the mad rush. I walked through the city and found this spot.

Quaint. Quiet. Simple. I walked into this minimilist shop and was delighted to see a gentleman ready to tell me all about Japanese pastry, sweet snd savoury.

It was the first time I'd had a cream filled puff pastry from a Japanese bakery. One word. WOW. Soft, delicate, and not a sugar butter filled slap in the face like every other cream filled bun. The flavours were amazing because they were subtle and airy. Just wow!

Highly recommended- a visitor from Edmonton

I tried a black sesame cream bun. It was heavenly. It had a light dough, and the cream was also light, but the sesame gave it a lot of substance. The shop itself is really cute and the staff member was nice. I'm addicted now.

I came here when it first opened, so my experience sounds like it differs from current experiences.

Extremely fresh - they imported ingredients directly from Japan to make it in house. Creme was slightly sweet, not overpowering at all nor too creamy. It simply had a great fresh milk/cream taste + whatever flavour you had.
Okay value - cute date food to share. Flavours on point.

Desserts come in cute packaging but are expensive considering the amount given. The matcha almond pudding was good but small and pricy. The cream buns have similar texture to ones you can get at Chinese bakeries for cheaper.

Hattendo, a little cute bakery from Hiroshima, Japan. They specialize in Japanese cream buns. We had Matcha Cream Buns this time. I actually tried it a long time ago but I didn't feel like it much. However, I wanted to give them a try again and I wasn't disappointed at all.

Their buns were light & soft and their matcha fillings were flavourful, tasty and not overly sweet. Their packaging was cute. Though I ordered only four buns, they were packed nicely in a cute box. So, if you want to buy a nice gift for your friends or family, I think this is a good one! Their price is on the high side but I still love them! I got the good ones this time

Adorable and welcoming little shop very reminiscent of Japan's little pop-up pastry shops. Try their limited time fluffy custard or cream buns, you will not be disappointed.
