The surgeons and all their support staff (on all 3 shifts) here at HSN in Sudbury have treated me with the utmost respect, courtesy, and professionalism during my surgery and recovery. They all deserve recognition for helping me through this ordeal. There were no questions I had about the procedure that went unanswered. And the technology they have at their disposal is world class.

Been at the emergency room for over 5 hours with a 21 month old and still haven't seen a doctor. We've graduated from a chair in the waiting room to a chair in the back. This hospital is broken. Good luck to anyone looking for care here.

I wish I could rate 0 stars. I haven't even made it into a room yet because I spent half an hour driving around parking lots and finding 0 parking. I guess it's a good thing that I happen to not be a single parent so my husband was able to drop my daughter and I and go elsewhere (missing his daughters important appointment). There was PLENTY of empty spaces for disability parking, staff, and limited mobility. I guess if you are not physically disabled then you better be able to take a bus to this hospital if you plan to park. Absolutely outrageous! My daughter would have lost use of her finger had I been a single mom and unable to park for her appointment.
This is a disgrace.

I give a one star. That goes to the few staff that provide compassionate care without bias to your situation.
Too many negative, neglectful situations over the years to share.
One I will. 65 yr old dad in Palliative Care. Esophageal cancer. I helped him to the bathroom. Watched over him. Dad became very weak and I cradled him under his arms and pulled the bathroom bell. After 15 minutes, after I seated him back onto the toilet, I was able to walk him back to his bed. I went to the nurses station. Only to find 5 of them laughing. I asked, "did you not hear the bell!? " " I want to see your charge nurse".
Spoke to charge nurse. She wasn't impressed with her staff.
Dad died 2 days later. Too busy my a@@. Time to laugh n chat, disgusting.
I'll go out of town from now on.
Not to mention my misdiagnosed 13 yr old son.with a fungal infection. He had crohnes! Eventually emergency airlifted to sick kids in Ottawa in Failure to Thrive. And the nurse said, "why are you so special to get air lifted? " It's not coming out of your pocket! Omfg.
Of course patients and family get infuriated! Then ushered out by wanna be protected security a@@es. Smh.

I was sent by my family doctor to get a CT scan. I asked if my tubal clips would be seen on the test and told they would. I asked the female doctor about where they were and she told me they were right where they were supposed to be which is strange because I had an x-ray last year and both clips were on my left side. No one has ever told me my right ovary was underneath my left one, and I've had laprosopic surgery due to mentrastion issues, plus a D&C, which is when they tied my tubes.

I'm here now in the Cardiac Unit. Everybody is top notch professional and amazing caring staff. Shout out to Lisa in the Cardiac department. Very informative nurse! Best in the biz.

My son came in with a high fever and we waited 5 hours and they still didn’t see us it’s pretty ridiculous

I had to go to the youth mental unit CAMP in May for the most intense suicidal ideation I've ever dealt with. When I arrived I was terrified of myself and miserable. When I left I was filled with a new desire to build a life for myself when I finally felt a sense of purpose and drive. After starting up real school, meeting new friends and joining the rock band at confederation secondary I can solidly say I've finally done it nearly a year later. I'm so glad my life was saved by the CAMP unit, because without it my life would've ended so prematurely without me experiencing the most beautiful moments in life.

It's never fun when you have to stay in the hospital, but the staff at HSN did their damnedest to ensure that my stay was as pleasant as possible. Unflappably professional nurses and PSWs somehow always had a smile on their face, were never condescending, and always did their best to keep me up to date and in good shape. The place itself.well, I'd have liked a room with a bathroom, but seriously the excellence of the staff made up for the lacking facilities. These people are absolute saints, and my hat is off to each and every one of them. Thank you HSN staff for shoring me up and getting me back in the game!

What’s the point of triage, and urgent notices from family doctors, if Hsn makes them wait 7 - 9 hours anyways? The amount of people that were in over whelming pain on Feb 13 2023 was disgusting and they were forced to wait 8+ hours. People in pain and barely coherent, leaving because waiting was more painful. I’ve never been more disgusted with an establishment before let alone a hospital.
26 February 2023 10:39
Absolutely ridiculous. The entire city is out of my medication. I have called my doctors office 6 times in the past 5 days, and im still yet to hear anything back about my meds. I guess people missing weeks doses of medication is a okay thing to these messed up “doctors”

HSN and in particular the emergency dept.at the hospital is an embarrassment. It's what you'd expect to find in a 3rd world country. I never imagined that our system could degenerate to such a level. There's not even a respectable reception service. I mentioned to one employee, a young women, that sitting in the back of the waiting room I couldn't hear the announcements, announcements as to whose next etc, her answer was “ that's ok. ” They, the receptionists, don't even bother coming into the waiting room to make announcements, they do so from the back of their cubical. Whether, we in the waiting room hear or not, is not important. Then being sick is not bad enough, they make you wait for hours sitting in a steel straight back chair, with not a blanket or a bottle of water.

From emergency on, it gets even worse. The place is cluttered, over crowded and filthy. The nurses and even the doctors, appear unkempt and discheveld. They appear to be running around in circles not knowing what to do or where to find their equipment. The place looks nothing like a hospital.

If you happen to have surgery more then likely it's “on the go” same day fast surgery after which they send you home as soon as possible with a few skimpy directives as to what to eat, what to do and what medication to take. Good luck with the changing of surgical dressings. In other words, going to the hospital when sick and being nursed back to health like we had in the good old days prior to this socialist garbage is non existent in Canada.

Finally and in all fairness, most people who work at HSN, nurses, doctors, etc are hard working people, who do the best they can in a very bad situation. There's talk of improving the system by hiring more personnel, the
problem is not with the personnel its that the health cares system is a disaster
beyond redemption and need be completely revamped since its Totally inefficient.

First off the bad. I was recently at this hospital for a few days with my mom, the first evening I want to say there was this male nurse who lacked empathy. My mom was there on her deathbed (literally) she had a chest infection and that nurse I just mentioned stated that considered yourself warned that you’ll likely catch whatever she has. My mom had an oxygen mask on. Now I don’t care if I catch what she has. She’s in there literally fighting for her life because of something else but the infection may have contributed to it as well but I’m not a doctor. Second. What’s with all the bruises that could have been avoided. They had to take blood numerous of times from the arterial vein. They stated about running a line because she had it so many times but they never did twice.

Second. The good. Thank you to Lisa in Step down unit, for letting all of us be with her before she passed away, thank you for explaining everything you did.

Worst place ever-go there to get sick.
Edited in 2023-if I could give it less than one star I would-do not go here-they will not care for you.

Terrible hospital that is filthy and runs out of linens. Burned out lights, dead flies on window sills, misdiagnosis. Will wake you up hours earlier than supposed to after a surgery because the nurses can't or won't read charts and get patients mixed up. This is unbelievable but 100% factual.
Nurses up on care floors seem to be great. But I would die on the way to North bays hospital before stepping foot into that ER. Most nurses in the ER are rude and even downright cruel. Shouldn't be allowed near any human let alone the sick and vulnerable And the doctors are beyond arrogant and don't actually want to help. They seem bothered by any and all patients. To the point where the first question out of a family physician after their patient has spent time in the hospital is "and how did they treat you? " Quickly followed by "I'm so sorry you were treated like that. That's wrong. "
No aftercare ordered let alone any actual care provided while there. This hospital is an absolute disgrace.

You are right A whoever your are my dad after a heart attack, was found at 5 AM in the snow beside the hospital something is really wrong with this hospital and a lot of the dr are very rude, they can't even introduce themselves the only way I would go to Emergency is if I'm really dying! No I have to change my rating I recently had surgery and it was a success a wonderful doctor very professional and really impressed with her I cannot thank you enough to fix me well I received good care so I have to change my waiting this is not erase the past!

15 January 2023 21:19
The amount of disrespect from the staff. The fact that the doctor performed surgery on me that I refused with no regard for my own well being.
10 January 2023 19:17
THE WORST care. I can only speak to the level 4 nurses and PSW's.they are rude, unfriendly & angry towards patients and the family members who visit. Unprofessional, heartless, no compassion and very clearly hate their jobs. Not once in an 8hr day does my grandmother's nurse come to check on her. They act as if the family is there to work and are very much inconvenienced when we need help.

I have had over 10 surgeries this year in Ottawa and I have never seen hospital staff treat people so inhumane.

If you don't want to be there, if you don't like your job then please find a new career. It is obviously not personal for you however it is very personal for the family members who are there with their loved ones.

Went there with daughter and granddaughter baby was throwing up and while there daughter started getting sick as well. I was taking care of granddaughter while daughter was being sick. Was told I couldn't go in the back with them as I wasn't vaccinated. Told if I go they would kick me out of the hospital for good. Never to be allowed in. So nurses had to care for my granddaughter while daughter was getting sick. Was the lady at front asking covid questions. She was very rude.

I'm going to be honest.
I was at my lowest I guess and tried to end my ways.
I was committed to the Hospital of Sudbury Friday night, left Monday morning.
I have extremely bad low self esteem, that I can remember since I got there my Front Tooth Partial was taken out, the moment I was able to function and ready to put my Partial Tooth back in, Sudbury Hospital has ready LOST my fake Front Tooth, I asked almost Hours to Four Days for it back. My denturist said they can't make another one without payment, I only live off of odsp 400 to myself. A month. I don't understand how this will help my mental health. Thanks alot Hospital of Sudbury.

Had an emergency, come early 8am, nice doctors and nurses that try keep you updated. It will be a couple hours though.
02 December 2022 17:34
I’m not sure if the staff is being overworked and they are deciding to take it out on the patients, in the emergency department or what. Came in with spinal issues, was extremely terrified. I was not taken seriously and ended up leaving as the staff made me have a complete mental breakdown. I will never go back there.

I'm a guy that only goes to a hospital if I truelly think I am about to die. I went to HSN today after waking up completely blind in one eye Saturday, on Sunday in the blink of a second I was almost completely blind once again. It happened at work this time and everyone begged me to go to the hospital, so I went today. It was the absolute best experience I could have hoped for. Every single staff member was extremely kind and caring. Thank you Dr. Dube. As well as all the staff.

I did all I could not to have to go to emergency. But, when it's late and you can't even keep down water, it gets scary. We are so very thankful for the excellent care I received late Sunday night. The entire staff were so caring; and the doctor was incredible! Many thanks for all your kindness. And, yes doc - I am the FHO biller.
