The original company was called Oxford County. Our family dealt with them for over 50 years. Things changed significantly once it changed to Heartland. We did not even have an agent to deal with. After a significant family medical emergency we were 6 days late with our payment. There was no inquiry or phone call to discuss.just a very officious registered letter stating the entire amount for the year was now due and we were no longer eligible for the installment plan. No customer service/loyalty after 50 years!

Terrible customer service.husband was involved in a accident, didn't hear from them until I contacted my broker to get someone's contact information. (Almost 2 weeks after filing the claim and had to get my broker involved numerous times) finally called me but I was in the car said I'd call back in 10 min.unable to reach that person and voice mail was full. (Always full)
Another week goes by finally hear from a another person asking for details about the accident and starts talking about the deductible when my husband was rear ended and we had the other person information as well as the police report.
Had to arrange my own quote for the damage no company was recommended. Also had to arrange my own rental as the again wouldn't calls or approve the work.
Drove around for 2 months with the damages. Even took forever to confirm I was allowed to replace my kids car seats and be covered for them.

Horrible insurance company. Stated I had a missed payment and didn’t have a card on file for withdrawal of payment and was issued a cancellation notice 3 days before the cancellation date. Called my bank to find out that the company never made an attempt to withdraw any funds from my account. Refused to reinstate my policy. Also had another instance where they emailed me someone else’s personal cancellation letter breaching confidentiality of another person. Including their full name and personal information. Horrible horrible horrible company.

This is a terrible company to deal with. From the beginning to the very end. The claims adjustor assigned took over a week to contact me, then nothing but crickets when either myself or the garage tried to contact for information/updates to the claim. Awful communication. Do not use this company for insurance!

We have recently put in a claim for an accidentall fire. DO NOT INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY. It has been nothing but lies after lies! They are terrible to deal with! They jew you down every chance they get! My family has been in an Airbnb for 3 months and are still waiting for reimbursement for 2 months at $5800 plus our mortgage! They will tell you 1 thing over the phone or in person but when it comes to dealing with the contractor and email they turn on you! Avoid at all costs! If you get an adjuster named Lisa Baldwin she is a lier! Do not listen to her! Fighting is all you have with this company!

Been loyal to this company for 20 years with multiple things insured with them.just got dumped to the curb with 6 days notice of cancellation of all things insured with them. The reason they canceled was because of a missed payment on my home isurance (a clergical error on their end), yet they are sending me a refund of $500 that I prepaid them in vehicle insurance (which they canceled as part of the package)

Got rear-ended after 2-3 months of owning my car. Other than a bit of a wait for replies at first, the claim went smoothly. No pushing for their recommended shops, instant yes to my choice of shop. Glad i chose Heartland for my car and truck.
