Helmand Kabab House

Just had dinner here and totally disappointed as they the worker who was taking order, she not only served my order wrong but also misbehaved when I told her about the mistake. I specifically asked for rice on the side as my husband is allergic to rice but they put kbobs on top of rice and she was stubborn to even admit her mistake. Helmand was once a place of great customer service and owner would go extra mile to make customers satisfied but these two female workers they made sure to ruin the dinner time and our made our experience horrible with their constant ill speaking about us. She thought as she is speaking in Punjabi no one will understand and she can say whatever she wants but us being from the same region was able to understand each and every word coming out if her mouth.
I have never seen such illiterate, misbehaved cashier anywhere in my life.
They were fighting and arguing over workload with each other as well without realising the guest sitting in the dining area.

Best halal food in Guelph, the spice level is perfect because I like spicy and they ask about spice level before they make food.
The isn’t frozen they cooked everything from scratch! If anyone looking to get desi halal food so this is your place and no compromise in quantity and quality

Food was top notch, awesome reception and love the environment. Will super highly recommend this place for anyone who wants awesome food, reception and a home-like atmosphere to enjoy their meal.

Food would have been good had it not been served cold. We waited 45mins even though we were told it will take 20mins and that too I had to go and ask if the food was ready.
Paid a hefty amount to be served hot food at the very least.

And best poutine ever. I am not a fan of fusion purines but this shawarma meat poutine with vegetables and hot sauce is undoubtedly one of the best poutines ever.

This is our first time trying Helmand Kabab House. It was amazing from the ordering to the table. Pizza was so good and lots of meat in the Kabab. Well done. Please keep it up and don't change. We will continue to order and support you. Thankyou

This afternoon, I had horrible experience here. The lady at the counter knows nothing about customer service, she was extremely rude, arrogant and was literally shouting on us. I have never seen anyone behaving like that in food business. She wasn't ready to listen what the matter was. Owner should make her to take good customer service training courses, otherwise she will ruin the name of his place.
I won't go there ever in future.
Not recommended to anyone.
Please don't waste your money to this lady's awful attitude.
I wish there was an option of zero star or negative star to give you an idea how bad they treat their customer.

Best Afghan restaurant in Guelph. I always buy Afghan food from this guys especially Wally Special always delicious.

If you request a spicy food, they simply sprinkle raw chilli powder on the food. Poor service and rude staff.

I got a wrap and it was cold. The server was a lady with black hair and she was rude and couldn't understand english properly. I also got pizza and their pizza is not very good.its not fluffy or cheesy. I dont' recommend this place.

Once we ordered Biriyani from there and it was almost rotten. I contacted manager but he denied to compensate and we was adamant that the food was good. Other than that so far my experience is nice and their items are good specially the kabab and tikka. Don't order their Biriyani.

This was our second visit since pendemic begin. Located at small strip Mall plaza, short distance from Riverside Park, Guelph. Good choices in the menu for everyone from meat lover, BBQ, wraps, dinner with rice or fries and last but not least everyday pizza and Wednesday Biryani, yes that's very best option for quick take out. Must try their Sultani, Mazari and Helmand kabab. I always find Chaplee kabab of Afghan cuisine have it's unique taste. Freshly made Nans are very soft and tasty. Dinner comes with Salad and two types of dressing on side. Just one personal suggestion if they could add some extra dressing/sauce on rice as well that make rice a bit moist. Staff member are very humble and helpful and explain everything in detail while we're making selection from the menu.

Found this place in our travels and decided to give it a try. WOW, the food is amazing. We will be coming back soon. Thanks for an excellent experience.

First experience two years ago led me to choose this place when visiting from Woodstock recently. The counter staff perceived we were ordering for a third person not present and offered to delay the preparation of the third meal so that we could eat two meals in the restaurant and take the third home fresh from the fire.

Ordered food for the fifth time, and every time is better and better. Delicious food, on time delivery and the owner an amazing person and the staff also provide great service. Thank you Helmand and keep up the good work. See you soon

This place is the real deal. The food is flavorful, cooked to perfection, nothing on the plate lacks in quality. The staff and friendly, set up great for covid and has been consistent everytime. Sorry for the picture because half the food was already gone! Regular weekly go to place!

I have been going here pretty much since opening. I don’t know what happened, but I feel like the place went down hill. The last couple of times I went the food did not live up to par. The chicken was burnt and tasted really bad. They gave me their fountain soda half full where I had to tell them to fill it up to the top. Their bread is really good and always has been, maybe it was just a bad day for them, but I can tell you that the food is really good when cooked right and it’s very filling.

Without a doubt my favorite place for kababs and chicken shawarma. The meals are generous with portions, the wraps are the best quality I've ever had! Today I was surprised with a new menu item. Buttered Chicken. It was really good large pieces of quality cut chicken, perfectly spiced sauce, and the Naan bread is sooooo good! Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Great chicken tikka wraps. And delicious butter chicken on Fridays. I go there every day for lunch even if I work on the other side of Guelph. I can't wait for thyre fried chicken that's coming soon.

It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing food, Salad, beverage, etc.and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations.

Wow, Wow, Wow!
We have eaten here twice now, the first time we had the chicken shawarma and the chicken Tikka, we were not disappointed.the next week we had the butter chicken.it was like music in my mouth, it is watering just thinking about it! The flavours, OMG, the flavours!
The Naan bread and dip is delicious, just the right amount of heat.
The staff are so friendly and welcoming, we are so happy this restaurant is right around the corner, we will be having many suppers in the near future.
I cannot wait to try the next masterpiece.
You need to eat here!

The portion of the food is great! The naan bread is a large piece and definitely worth it with the meal, the tikka chicken is flavorful and cooked perfectly!

The food is great most of the time, the wait times and wait staff are not up to par. If you order online you'll be given a 20 minute timeframe until your food is done. Upon arrival that will change to another 5 minutes, then 10 minutes. Then they'll ask for a 5 star review for a free drink.

I was in the mood for beef and read good reviews about this place so I popped in for the first time. Ordered the Sultan Beef kebab combo. The owner informed me that they use filet mignon for their beef kebabs. The service was fast and friendly. The food was next level. Good portion for the price. Yes, definitely filet mignon - you can tell. Absolutely delicious. Also came with an in-house fresh made naan bread that was amazing. Not shown in pic, special cilantro sauce. I'll be back for sure. Will try the Chicken Biryani special on Wednesday. Can't wait.

The food isn’t bad but I didn't feel safe eating the food I got because I saw the guys on the grill taking their mask off and interacting with each other and puts mask on as other customers entered the restaurant.

Excellent quality food and always freshly prepared. If you like bbq and Afghan dishes, this is the place.

It was really horrifying to see how awfully they behaved after serving the wrong order.

Not only did they charge for the wrong order but also blamed their wrong service on us.

Helmand Kabab House is a one of the best place to get halal and very delicious food. Each and every dishes from helmand Kabab is fresh cooked and tasty, i recommend every one to visit Helmand Kabab atlist once In a while.

Always a good choice when we decide to dine in at Helmand's! The food is amazing, the staff is very friendly and we always leave satisfied and happy!

Great selection of Afghan kabobs, with their tasty rice and house-baked bread (haven't been able to try their entire menu yet). Clean place without unnecessary fanciness, where you can stop any time to have a pleasant meal. They're polite and professional. Just if they served roasted tomatoes (Persian style) too, it would have been perfect.

Update 2021:
This place keeps the quality high and the prices reasonable. But I'm deducting two stars from my review to hopefully catch their attention: they use a lot of styrofoam for their takeout, which at least in Guelph, isn't recyclable. We really enjoy their food, but not the guilt of producing that much pollution.

We often go to Helmand Kabab. Their food quality and service is great. The owner Wally is an amazing guy! If you ever have an issue with quality or service, he will make sure to take care of you and fix any mistakes. He is a very kind and personable person. Treats you like family.

I have tried many afghan rusturants before but helmand kabab is the best ever, fresh food, best customer service and delicious food I recommend everyone to try this place at least one time

Impeccable custom device. Very friendly and personable staff who get to know their customers. Great portion sizes and well priced. You have to try the butter chicken special on Fridays. Never disappointed with Helmand Kabab House. Keep up the good work Wally!

Really, really good Afghan food. I went with the #9 to split with someone and it was quite a bit of food. Great rice, a tasty salad (with a lovely garlic sauce), really good naan bread (different than Indian style), and of course the chicken and beef were delicious. Owner was a good dude as well - gave suggestions and ensured we were taken care of. Really recommend this place.

I had their butter chicken special tonight and it was fantastic! Some of the best butter chicken I’ve had and not nearly as oily as most versions I’ve tasted before. I didn’t care for the naan, but the butter chicken, rice, and salad were all very good. I will come back for sure!

Helmand Kabab house is the best restaurant in all of Ontario in my opinion. It is like a second home to me and my family. Over all, we love you guys and merry Christmas.

Got the kebabs, salad, rice, and butter chicken. The butter chicken is the best i’ve tried, the kebabs are delicious, the rice was an excellent pairing and the salad was awesome especially with the house made sauce. Everyone was full and not disappointed. Will be back!
