Hibiki Japanese Cuisine

Great dinner. Been a while since I had good Japanese food, and this dinner at Hibiki (while visiting Toronto) did not disappoint.

One of my favourite Japanese places, their teriyaki chicken is skin on! Their sushi is fresh and made very nice, one of the better places.

I've been going here over the past 2x years, and the taste and quality has been superb!

It's a reminder this isn't your bang for your buck restaurant as the portions might be a bit smaller than joints around the GTA, but the overall experience is a cut above. This place closely reminds me of Inatei.

I give them 8.5/10!

Came here for a date and the sushi was super good, we got some Toro sushi which was amazing. We got a sashimi dinner aswell. The quality was good and the fish was fresh

Only place to go for sushi. I had tried many in Markham @mid price range. You get what you pay for.

Came here for a simple dinner and ended up ordering the tasting menu.
The food was definitely one of the better experiences enjoyed in a long while. The only meh moment was the smoked duck salad where I found an identity crisis… did not flow with the accompanying foods presented.
The fish was very fresh and could taste it in every bite.
The staff is very efficient without being intrusive.

See myself coming back to try their other offerings.

AC is either broken or none. It's unbearably hot like sitting in a sauna. For a sushi restaurant to be operating in this temperature I dare not order any raw fish. My son ordered a normal salmon sushi and found the sushi rice was abnormally warm. Food was too pricey for it's worth.

Expensive, but worth the price. There's a lot of good japanese restaurant around Markham area, this is definitely one of them. A bit on the pricy side but you get what you paid for.

Food is still awesome (I have been ordering takeouts during the pandemic), but it felt like the air conditioner wasn't set at the right temperature, because it felt warm throughout my dinner. Hope they fix this soon.
PS: side order of ice cream costs $2.50, and it's the size of a ping pong ball.regret not taking a picture as proof.

The quality of the food has drastically declined. We came here back in beginning of 2022 and the food was good. However, when we went there today, we ordered sushi set and udon set. The sashimi was not sliced and just served as a chunk. It tasted stale, portion also shrunk. The soba noodles was all stuck together like a piece of dough. The servers were so busy trying get off work and delivered the attitude they want the customer to leave even before they finished the food. I say this because our sets included dessert, which was never delivered until we asked AFTER they gave us the bill. If you want to pay for low quality food, with above average price, come here. Would not recommend if you want good Japanese food.

Been here twice, definitely not your average Japanese restaurant, both high on quality and on price. I do give them high marks on getting some of those specialty imported fish from Japan, which you don't find in all Japanese restaurants. Worth a try. Price range $80-$100 per person

(2022) Back to the restaurant for dinner yesterday. A new junior staff was rude enough to clean the table, serve desserts and handed me the bill in 1 minute while my mom, a senior, was still eating at 6: 30! We were there at 5: 30pm and they were not busy and we were not told that we had to surrender the table after an hour because they are busy. The food quality may have improved but if they don't train the staff to treat seniors properly, then it is not worthy for my business in the future. Totally disappointed. (2021) 4Stars previous review - Under Covid, I may be coming to this restaurant more than I normally would if I want a variety and a quiet place to dine. The price is on the high side, but you do get the value for what you paid. Good to entertain people and the tables are properly sectioned for privacy from the adjacent tables.

Located off the busy street of Highway 7, you could quickly drive pass this restaurant that is a little set back from the road given its plaza and parking spaces at the front is rather small.
Step into this restaurant and you'll be welcomed by its nice warm wood finish interior.

Smoked duck breast udon and spider roll upgrade $16.50 + $8.25
The duck breast was done beautifully. Tender and smokey. The udon was nicely chewy and the broth was just perfect. A good noodle dish. The spider roll came beautifully presented and tastes as good as it looks with a nice generous portion of fish roe on top.

The 4pcs Sashimi with Mini Steak Don $19.50 was good. The Sashimi was the usual faire - salmon and tuna, but it was nice and thick. The mini steak was nicely grilled medium rare with a mini raw egg and drizzled with a light sweet soy glaze.

Dishes came with salad and miso soup. The salad itself was a bit wilted and didn't seem very fresh, but was still ok. The dressing was very good. The miso soup was ok.

Dessert, a lychee pudding, was nice but potions was a bit small.a very small shooter cup.

Though a bit more expensive, the quality, cut of the fish and taste of the food itself is pretty good and worth trying.
Parking limited. Would come again.

Great place for fresh sushi! Recommended by a friend and I recommend it for the next person. It can get pricey if you order many different dishes but a nice treat yourself if you're willing to spend the money. Two people averaged $30/person with tax and tip.

The sushi was decent. Everything else was to nicely put it not great at all. Had a gyudon in our order, meat was super dry and chewy, flavour was lacking not worth the close to $20 price tag. Tempera udon was just ok

Nice ambiance. Good service. Excellent quality sashimi and sushi. Love the wasabi and ginger they use.
