Historic Fort Willow

Great trailway! No issues with our mobility device, dog loved the walk too. Absolutely beautiful every time of year but especially in the fall.

Very quiet place most of the time. There are some interpretive signs to tell you of the interesting history. There are no old fort buildings but just "foot prints" of the buildings. There is an annual Fort Willow day in the fall every year where there are people in period costume and crafts etc. It is really worth going! Nice rail trail at the rear of the fort.

It's really cool to see how, through archeology, they were able to recreate the layout of Fort Willow. Each building is represented by an outline of timbers. At each outline, there is a plaque describing the use of the building. The parking lot is less than a 5 minute walk to the Fort. Parking is $10 a day and is paid through the HotSpot Parking app. You could spend the day here as the 9 Mile Portage trail leads through the back of the Fort and connects to the Trans Canada Trail.

Nice place to go and clear your head, easy walking and you can see some history at the same time
