I recently purchased a house from HN Homes and I would definitely refer it to the people looking for a good builder.
Their quality of work is commendable. Their interior design and the way they plan your house is remarkable.

HN Homes has got the best team in place to answer all your queries and also be with you whenever you need them.

All my questions and doubts were cleared by them on priority basis and I was really happy with their means of communication.

My house got delayed by 6 months and it was little inconvenient as I had to go through alot of hassle in renting a place.

I would definitely refer this to ottawa community.

The quality of materials, the contemporary design and layout, and the superior customer service are unlike any other builder in Ottawa. Many of the interior finishes offered by HN Homes, such as the hardwood stairs to the second floor, would be considered upgrades by other builders. We are incredibly impressed with our first home! I had a wonderful experience with HN Homes! Their designs are modern and custom fit for you, and they don't feel like every other house copy and pasted in Ottawa! The interior finishes are high quality and luxurious, almost as if you were paying for tons of upgrades!

They have great designs and layouts for the homes. I will recommend to make the allotment process a little bit more easy and fair. At present it is complicated. These comments are based on the personal experience with HN homes while participating in release process.

HN homes is a company that clearly understands the value of excellent customer service. We have had a couple of issues after we moved in and HN dealt with them immediately. I joked with the customer service people that the workers were at my door before I hung up with them. It was not much of an exaggeration. The technicians always showed up the same day as my call. Both Gary and Peter were excellent in dealing with the recent leak issue. There is no better home builder in Ottawa.

Highly Disappointed with their entire booking process. (Riverside south)

We were REALLY looking forward to book our home with HN Homes and were in awe of this builder but our recent first experience in getting registered for reservation was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING & NON TRANSPARENT.

We had to email at 10 am at the listed email id and we did that at DOT 10. Then. NOTHING

I dont even think they actually considered the email / timing and just allotted the lots to the pre determined alottees.

Bcz its buyer market and few release but the way hn homes handling reservation is disappointing and not transparent.email at 1 pm at the listed email id and we did at exact time But no luck tried 3 times.

Anyway we end up buying with another builder and it was smooth process.

Advice: invest money in technology for reservation this email is not ideal.

Paying premium for below average HNHomes house. Using some premium construction materials will not fix the low quality management and unsupervised contractors. Please take a look at my Ecobee thermostat Home Energy Efficiency picture.

I worked there. Good people to work with, but I wouldn't pay half of what they're asking for their houses.

Best builder you can find. They also hire the best people who work hard to make the home buying experience as good as it can be.

I am a brand new costumer and this is my experience so far. I will post updates and change my review if at any point I feel the grading should be different. The purpose here is to inform new costumers like I wish I was.
Pros: 1) The sale reps are very friendly and very accommodating, 2) design of the houses is the best I was able to find in Ottawa (I like European style) 3) there seems to be a higher quality of the standard features (though still not in that step of the process.
Cons: 1) there is a lot of secrecy initially in the process and the sale reps have minimal insight of what can be modified and what cannot. You basically have to wait after the signing off (and paying the deposit) to have more information on feasibility of some upgrades. 2) I have been initially told that any structural change as long as they are architecturally feasible will be accommodated only to find out latter on that some are not done purely because they do not want to bother. For instance, widening of the garage (lot size allows for it) is not accepted because it is not "cost effective". Forget about the fact that for me it makes the difference. I also wanted 9 feet basement upgrade and no explanation as to why this cannot be accommodated. Our last builder ask us if we want this and we refused, boy did we regret for last 15 years.
I still give 4 starts because my decision may not be different had I knew all of this at the beginning of the process (because of the 3 pros above). I know it is a seller's market in Ottawa right now but it may not be like that forever, so I think more transparency will eventually pay off when the market becomes trickier for sellers.

We have to say we could not be happier with HN Homes. We purchased our home in Feb 2018. I was so thrilled with HN Homes customer service from the beginning to the after sale service. My wife is a musician so we need a big studio on the first floor. We looked at the entire Ottawa market and no other builders offered big office on the first floor. Only HN Homes had a model (Arlington) that fits our needs but there was no model home available but their salesperson managed to let us see a half finished home so that we could have a good idea. They were also willing to make modifications as much as possible to suit our needs. At 30-day inspection and year end inspection they go extra mile and let me know the issues that I didn't notice or know. They truly show what real customer service means. If you are looking up HN Homes, you already know their design and quality is top of the line. Now rest assure their service is in the same league. Very impressed and highly recommended to everyone. Another funny thing is that the sales office now will introduce the Arlington model to the customers and say: you know, there is a musician who bought this model and is very happy about it.lol

WOW, what more can I say. An HN Home is a thing that makes life just that much more pleasurable. Fantastic team that really pull out all the stops to make your purchasing experience a very special one. I have had mine now for around 18 months, and couldn't be happier. The attention to detail is outstanding. Running costs are low and very easy to upkeep. For me a house is not just a house. It is a home and it should bring a smile to your face every day that you own it. HN Homes gives me that every day. They are a team of consummate professionals, and would buy my next home from them in a heartbeat.

Co-Broker policy not adhered to. Do not be fooled by their modern designs and presentation. They will lie to you in your face and deny they told you anything afterwards. To summarize, they do not honor their promises. First time I approached them in person, I was planning to get pricing which they hide from their website. I have told the front desk lady clearly that I was refereed by my realtor, they asked me to "register using the iPad" in the Sales Centre for updates on future releases and pricing and then told me that they "cooperate at 2% commission with real estate agent". I sent them an email telling them that I registered to your email updates, and that I have a realtor and would like to FORMALLY approach you with my realtor. This was the moment when they sensed that I was a serious buyer. After some back and forth conversations and phone calls, their decision was to deny me using a Real Estate Agent because my agent was not physically with me at the time I registered for their email updates. I am planning on escalating my issue to any organization that can protect consumers like myself such as 'Tarion' under the Protection for Owners and Purchasers of New Homes Act, 2017, S. O. 2017, c. 33, if that does not work, I might consider other means. New home owners who need their "Agreement of Purchase and Sale" to be reviewed appropriately by a professional (a Real Estate Agent) should not be denied that under any circumstance! The lone star in my rating goes to their timely communications.

We will soon be closing our home and have had such an amazing experience with the HN Homes team. From start up until now, we are extremely pleased and satisfied. Thomas was such a pleasure to work and to deal with. He answered all of our questions in a timely manner and if he didn't have an answer on the spot, he found one within a few days. The houses are priced slightly higher than other builders but their work speaks volumes about the quality and customer service they pride themselves on. We completely customized our floor plans, which most builders do not allow. HN is the closest you will get to a custom built home with a builder. Their upgrades are very reasonably priced and working with Leohnard was probably the most exciting part. He is full of ideas and knows his stuff inside out. He provided us with several differently priced options and totally understood our style and vision within the first 5 minutes of our meeting. Hoping these last few months go as smoothly as the whole process has gone so far. Definitely HIGHLY recommend spending the extra $ on this builder, you won't regret it.

Last week I visited the HNHomes Sales Center, everything was nice no issue. At the end we decides to see some HNHomes houses in the neighborhood. After driving for up to 3 minutes in the neighborhood, my car was surrounded by two police cars.
After 10 minutes of conversations with two police officers I managed to “escape”. Now, I am a person of interest for law enforcement, because my car color is matching the car color used in few break-ins in the neighborhood.
In the last month, houses built by HNHomes where the main target in few break-ins.

This was a terrifying experience and my two boys are still shaking after this experience.

Homes with big front windows are a magnet for burglars which can see when homeowners are not home.

The "builder" is selling expensive houses with nice design done with cheap labor/products from QC. There is no quality control and you need to speak French to "grease" the wheels when contractors are fixing your house. Bookmark the Tarion website.
