Holiday Inn Express & Suites Toronto - Markham, an IHG Hotel

Very clean room, good amenities. Staff were very nice and friendly. The breakfast was great too.

We spent 3 nights here and had a good stay. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. They need to do some maintenance to tidy up some things though. This is a 10 floor hotel with two elevators. One of them was out of service the entire time we were there. This meant we'd have to wait 5 minutes or longer for the ekenatir at busy times like breakfast. Location is great if you need to be up around Markham. Hotel staff were friendly and I would stay here again.

Rooms are on par with standard holiday inn locations. The employees are friendly and welcoming. Location isn't bad, just wished it was closer to some of the restaurants.

Room is nice, but limited insulation. Neighbour in adjoining room heard early morning phone calls home. Service excellent, breakfast very well done.

After the first night a strong putrid smell started in the hall and kept increasing, it smelled like dead animals. We spoke with reception and turns out they don't have a policy to clean the rooms or take out trash if the guest doesn't want to. A person had stayed in their room for three months without housekeeping coming in the whole time. They finally evacuated the room so that's why the smell came into the halls and stayed for at least two days until we left. The smell was so strong we still believe there was something dead inside. Also, the rooms seem clean at first but if you walk with white socks on the room carpet they'll become black in a few minutes.

Hotel is very clean and staff is very helpful. The free breakfast is nothing to write home about but it is "ok" and it saves a lot of time for families.

Elevators broke for the night. I had use the stairs to reach the top floors. Really bad stench in the hallways.

Room: upgraded with brand new tip top settings. Top notch fittings. Clean. No indication of Ice vending machine on each floor which you can get to know by asking gust service.

Guest service: Mostly great. Eventually at midnight also it was available for any needs.

Price: Got great deal through 3rd party booking site. It was value for money. However was charged a very small fee as tax which was never mentioned by any bidy during check in & check out & it's not legal to charge anything even a penny without sending the invoice or receipt. I had contacted upon finding this charge & there was no follow up on that.

Location: great settings with nearby areas.

Service was below average as we were told upon check in that there will be no room service and if we need something, we need to come down and get it ourself.
