Holiday Inn Express Whitby Oshawa, an IHG Hotel

Spent two nights in a king suite. The check in was seamless. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The TV technology could use an upgrade though. Breakfast was more than adequate and well organized. Every staff member we engaged were friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely stay here again.

I loved this hotel. Very clean and beautiful rooms. The whole hotel was beautifully finished. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, especially the staff that handled breakfast. The eating area was spotless. The breakfast was the typical Holiday inn Express fare, but it seemed better prepared.

Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, room was clean, but the a/c didn't work, and by the time I discovered that, I didn't feel like switching rooms.

Upon arrival, check in was standard as we received the room key. When going to the room, the room was not what was reserved and advanced paid for. They expected a family of 4 to sleep in one queen bed! After going back to the front desk, excuses were made as they had obviously overbooked for the weekend. However, after pushing to ensure there is a resolution, they gave us a room similar to what was reserved. This means that they had this room the entire time and were hoping that we would just settle for less. In the new room, upon requesting extra covers/sheets for the kids, they did not have any due to no other staff there. Problem after problem, do not stay at this location as they do not care to offer any customer service for the price. You would be better off at a motel.

Standard rooms with basic amenities, overall appeared clean. All staff encountered were very nice and friendly. Prime location as right next to the highway and plenty of restaurants across the street. Ample parking for guests.

Left my phone and wallet on the nightstand and my money was stolen from my wallet. $100 was missing. Apparently only housekeeping and front desk touched the phone but all deny taking it. If you stay here be careful.

Super accommodating hotel - friendly staff, very clean rooms and great proximity to restaurants and sports facilities. We've stayed twice and will keep coming back!

My family stayed Jan 4,2023. It was a horrible experience! Not only did they originally give us a room that was already occupied providing access to someone’s entires belongings, etc when it was brought to the front staff’s attention they acted as though it was not a big deal. NOW, 2 days later my credit card has been charged more than triple the amount, with the general manager ignoring emails and phone calls. I am appalled by this blatant disregard to my complaints and concerns!

I would highly recommend that people stay away from this hotel!

Rooms are very clean, comfortable but the tech is outdated, TVs are very limited in channels and the remotes are horrible to use

I would put ZERO if I can. Horrible service. Booked a room w/ 2 Queen Size beds and was told at check in that there's only a King room available. MANAGER that was supposed to be helping me, left and did not return because apparently she's checking all the rooms. Other patrons were waiting also upset bc their rooms were all not ready at check in - it was 530PM. No help given. We, all 4 of us, have to sleep in a king size bed for the next 2 nights. Fun times. Glad we chose this place to spend our vacation. Terrible. Horrible. Place. Apparently complaining would be to the same manager that walked away from me - so there goes any kind of complaints.

Pleasant staff, very friendly, located close to the highway for easy access to travel and they have a nice seasonal salt water pool. Would stay there again!

I had a very unpleasant experience with the Customer service and accommodations of this hotel.
I booked this hotel early this morning to arrive during that time but did not realize this meant I had to book Wednesday night in order to stay the night until check out time today.
I selected Thursday which I didn’t realize the check-in time would be till 4 PM today.
After this I immediately called the manager of this hotel to resolve this issue and hopefully receive a refund for my simple mistake and misinterpretation of my booking.
I tried talking to the manager which was very frustrating since they could not issue me a refund or even half the amount. They suggested I could choose another night and use my existing balance but I would have to pay $100+ additionally to use. It’s incredibly upsetting that such a small issue that I tried to resolve as early as possible could not accommodate me fairly.
I stayed at this hotel three times prior and the customer service was amazing but this booking outcome was incredibly disappointing.

Decent place to stop over between Ottawa and Niagra. The outdoor pool is described as "seasonal", but wasn't available in June so check that before booking. Several food options over the road. Clean, functional but nothing more.

Was in Durham region to visit some friends and family for a couple nights. The hotel was clean, very easy to get to off the highway, lots of parking. The people at front desk were very friendly. We stayed in the King bed suite, the room was massive! Lots of room for two parents and a baby. Would definitely come back here next time!

Clean, quiet, convenient hotel just off the 401. Many choices nearby for food. Go train 10 minutes by foot. The hot breakfast was good, omelettes, sausages, pancakes.

The room was good, only complaint with the room is that I was unable to connect my computer to the TV. I was going to ask the front desk about it but a large storm knocked out power to a good portion of the region and we left early due to storm damage in our home neighborhood.

Edited to add. Staff were amazing during the power outage. Guests that had checked in after the power loss had to be manually let into their rooms. Staff were organized and professional dealing with no electricity/computers.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express following a wedding in the area. Clean rooms, attentive staff, and location close to the 401 were great. We worked with the staff to setup a block booking and it was a seamless experience for our guests.
