Do not apply for a credit card online as their site is horribly frustrating to use. First it enter my date of birth wrong then I tried to correct it three times still would not accept it. I called customer service about it but they are useless. When you voice your frustration the reps are silent like they disappeared.

Had a HELOC with them and I'm still waiting for the overpayment my lawyer had made into my account. It's been 6 months and every single time on the phone they promise to do something about it. But nothing.

I'm extremely disappointed

On top of it, they want you to complete a survey after each call. They are rubbing it in.

BUYER BEWARE! - this company is full of empty promises - we were promised a home equity loan to help get us our of debt, but ended up with a $150K VISA - it did not end there, they went ahead and overdrew the visa so no matter what we do we are paying interest as well as overdraft fees and overdraft interest - so long story short, we ended up in MORE debt without a means to pay it off. And of course now the issue is not their problem but "take it up with the bank now - we cannot do anything". - ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING how some people can prey on those that require help.

EDIT, they finally sent me the $800 owing!
I used their card for a couple of years. I got my credit rating back up higher. They have nice customer service reps, though the accounting and finance dept made me waiting for three years to get my $800 back after I shut down the account. I just got the cheque in the mail. Thanks guys!

My Mortgage Loan Number is 10653467, I am here to file a complaint against your company's Underwriter Nisha Ramesh. I can't find the contact information of the complaint department on your website. So I am here to write down my experience with your company. If other people see it, it can save them from losing money and time like I did. And how your Underwriter made things difficult, after spending $750 on the appraisal and 2.5 months of non-stop filing documents, I finally couldn't stand the torture and had to cancel the transaction.

In early December, my mortgage broker recommended your Home Trust Equityline Visa credit card to me. I provided him with my information. About 2 to 3 weeks later, I received the EQUITYLINE VISA LETTER OF APPROVAL from home trust, and urged me to sign for confirmation and proceed with the appraisal as soon as possible. I carefully read the LETTER OF APPROVAL you sent, and found no problem. So paid $750 for appraisal. The result of the appraisal is also very satisfactory. I provided my company's certificate to the underwriter as required. After receiving my company certificate, the underwriter said that the director of my company is not me, but a person named Richard G. Shaw. Ask me to explain and provide information on Richard G. Shaw. At that time, I thought my company was hacked and the information was altered. Later I looked at my company certificate and found out that the underwriter could not understand the Federal Incorporation Certificate. Richard G. Shaw is Director General at Corporations Canada. The Federal Incorporations Certificates are signed and issued by Richard. Can't believe the underwriter can't read company certificates. I don't know if it's because of this or something happened between the underwriter and my broker. But since then the underwriter has been asking me for more information again and again. She asked me to provide two commercial invoices with my customers. After I provide them, she will ask me to provide another four commercial invoices and so on. She will not ask you for the required documents all at once. She will ask for it bit by bit. Continue asking for similar documents after you have provided them. The underwriter knows nothing about International trade. She asked me to get a remittance document from a German customer who remitted money a year ago. I told her that I was the payee, not the remitter, how could I have the remittance documents? She didn't care. She asked for the remittance documents for two remittances, and I got from the customers and give to the underwriter. Then she wanted another four remittance documents. Just like this, She kept making new troubles to you, and the last time she asked for 11 remittance documents. So I went to TD and asked TD to help print out the remitter's information. But after I provided these information, the underwriter asked me to provide more other information. I asked my broker to ask the underwriter whether she will continue to ask for more information after I providing these information. The underwriter said yes, She needed more information and She will keep asking. I finally asked my broker to close my home trust file and cancel the transaction.

The above is my experience with your company from early December to mid-February. I don't understand why the underwriter would tease a customer like this. Documents were continuing provided from the end of December to mid-February no ending. What are the benefits of doing this? Is it just to defraud the $750 home appraisal fee? Is it normal behavior of your company or underwriter’s personal behavior? Having a person who does not understand business documents to review business documents is a mistake in itself. I hope the relevant department will follow up on this case and give an answer. I'll keep things updated here!

No. 1 rip off mortgage company I have ever dealt with. For one month missed payment they have charged almost Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) in legal fee and I was not even aware of it. They didn't even send me a proper notice and straight went to take legal action without even giving a proper time and notice. I'm a real estate agent and I have referred so many clients to them and from now I will make sure no body will ever get a mortgage from Home Trust Ever again. Really bad service and the client specialist in charge was ridiculing for missing a payment and she justify the $10000 dollar charge as if its nothing at all and told me that Im a broker and I can technically afford the $10000 fee so it looks like they are hunting clients based on their income and job so they could charge you as much as they want. Extremely disappointing that they try to rip people off and then redicule them and justify the charges.

If you're looking for an honest and reliable mortgage agent I would recommend Karen Pankratz. When I was shopping around for advice and looking for the best rate Karen sat down with me and provided me with a clear outlook on my options, and the best way approach the time crunch I was in!

Home Trust was smooth in terms of getting a mortgage and closing, but they function like a bank from 1800s. They don't have an online banking for mortgages, and there is $100 fee to generate a mortgage statement, there is a fee for change in payment dates, there is a fee to pay in advance, and there is a fee for everything. I will NOT consider them for my future mortgages and would not refer them to others.

This company is fraudulent & scammed me out of my hard earned money ($500), I heard of them through a trustee, applied for their secured credit card. They were quick to approve and ask me for my funds & I sent them over. They haven’t sent over the card for about 7 months now, I am still waiting. You cannot even contact their customer service, call them, This is a warning to anybody out there. Absolutely GARBAGE. I am very angry & frustrated. I will never ever do any business with them. Capital One is better for somebody trying to rebuild their credit. Please send me my money back.

Do not use this company. They are a complete waste of time and have zero respect for their customers. They do not even call back or communicate with their customers. They made me spend over $700 for an appraisal, (came in with more than enough equity) wait over 23 business days to only deny my application and not even inform me. Now I am in deeper in debt and have wasted $700 on a appraisal. Thank you very much Home Trust for wasting my time, energy and money.

The reviews here are true. Applied for a secured Visa card on April 24th, got approved and asked to send the deposit, which I did. It has been a month, there is no card yet received. Moreover, they sent me another email asking for the deposit! I've you money already, you want more? ! Called the customer service, they said that they might not have received the money. Well, how can that be if I sent it thru my bank and have a confirmation that the money had been sent. Awful experience so far. Will be reporting to better business bureau.

UPDATE: No card received yet. This is called stealing, which is a criminal offence. Will be looking for legal advice to resolve the issue.

I work for a brokerage and Home Trust is one of my go-to lenders because I get to work with Sachin Olety. He is amazing at what he does!

Every transaction is smooth and effortless. He is one of the best underwriters I have worked with. He is knowledgeable and extremely efficient when it comes to any file presented to him. He is excellent at problem solving which is why he is so good at what he does.

He’s great at communicating and keeping the rest of the parties in the transaction in the loop. It is always a pleasure working with him.

I've been trying to refinance my mortgage since October 2021. This process as been the worst, and most stressful situation. Not all emails get answered, to many people involved. I stayed with Home Trust because I thought it would be easier to refinance if I already had my mortgage with them. I've read reviews about bi-weekly payments, I've requested the same. I'm very nervous that they haven't done it, because no one has confirmed it. I've asked 2 different people. The process continues. I'm feeling very uneasy, not impressed.

Now I see all these bad reviews I don’t know if should send my fund?

Im with CapitalOne for almost three years. From a secured master card now Im with $3500 limit for just $300 deposit from day one.

Should I try home trust visa?

This mortgage company needs to get their act together. I refinanced my home that closed in August and changed my payments to biweekly as per the legal documents. Unfortunately they did not coordinate properly and pulled out the whole amount out which obviously bounced as I was not prepared for that amount. I was informed through the advisor that the next payment (again, a double payment would be coming out again in 2 weeks time) I called on a Monday to try and sort it out and no one called me back until Friday. A collections team member offered the NSF charge refunded to me and had changed my payments to come out accordingly. I was happy that they sorted it out. Or so I thought until last night when I noticed the right payment did come out, with ANOTHER double charge also taken, which AGAIN will result in the payment bouncing. I am super stressed out and truly disappointed that this keeps happening. I have no faith in this company whatsoever. Please do not use this company unless you want them to keep trying to take more money than what your legal documents dictate.

SCAM! Do not do business with them. This company is a scam. I have made a deposit for my secured credit card back in June. They received my money. Since June, I have called and was "sent" 4 different cards. I, somehow, never received the credit card to me but I always received the pin. I understand that the card might get lost in the mail in the first time, but it is very odd to me that I received my pin 4 times but I never received the credit card. All the customer service agents do is verify my address and send me another card. To this day, I have not received my card. I called today and all the agent did is offer me to send my 5TH CARD in the mail. Basically, the company NEVER sent my cards. I always received the nip (you're supposed to received your card within a few days after), but I have never received a card after sending them my money. I even spoke to supervisor and they are not being helpful. I am not going to keep having pin sent to my address with no card attached to it.

Please stay far away from this company. HomeTrust is to only be recommended to people that you hate. The level of organized incompetence is truly at another level. Trying to discharge a mortgage I had with them, required patience and many follow up phone calls. They constantly did not receive documents. They required that documents only be faxed, but I also sent an email to them so that I had evidence with a time and date of when the fax was sent.

As to ensure that the mortgage would be discharged without any problems, more funds were sent with the expectation that a refund would be given. I was told that it would take 60 days for a refund. And that it takes 60 days for the discharge to be recorded.
I followed up 67 days latter and was told that my discharge is still being processed. On the other hand, if you are even one day late with your payment to HomeTrust, a $295 late fee is processed.

If this is intentional or lack of competence is debateable. Nevertheless, it is completely frustrating and it does not need to be this way.

In summary, stay clear of this bank. The headaches, irritation, and frustration are not worth it.

If I could complain too federal watch group, this would gladly to done as no one should be subjected to this.

Hello, I am applying for a mortgage refinance and the mortgage specialist sent me the commitment and I wanted to talk to him as I have another offer from another lender and wanted to make my decision right away. Regardless of sending e-mails, leaving voice messages he does not respond. I tried to contact customer service and they again after explaining the issue they transfer me to the same specialist voicemail who does not respond and the service is very rude. Wanted to stay with them as i am currently with them but with this service i doubt it and i do not recommend it to anyone else.

Somebody opened a fraudulent account in my name and I have been spending weeks trying to get it closed and off my credit report!

The fraudster opened seven credit cards at various places and I had them all closed with a single phone call except for this one. I have spent weeks and numerous phone calls / jumping through hoops and it yet it is still open. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU HERE.

I have repeatedly requested an email address of a single person who works at the company and they refuse to give me one. I am at the point where I am going to have to go to governments ombudsman services because of their inaction.

Stay far away from this company because if something ever goes wrong you are in for a major hassle in getting it fixed. The fraud protocols they have in place are way to slow for something as urgent as fraud

I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know how thrilled I was with the service level provided by Sachin O on a recent mortgage closing. We closed on May 4th.

We had to close this deal in just over a weeks time and if it was not for Sachin, it would never have happened.

The file was a super rush deal and Sachin took the deal from day one and ran with it. He was extremley proactive, anticipated my calls, saw any potential issues and ALWAYS called me before I called him. He was available whenever I reached out and if I left a message, he called me back within an hour.

Home Trust has a cash back Visa card with no foreign exchange service fees and no annual fee. The only card we found in Canada with these features. One issue, and perhaps it has changed, is that the after hours call centre can only quote charges in USD, not CAD, even if purchases are made in third countries.

I have just received my secured credit from HTC about 2 months ago. I haven't had a single issue obtaining the card. This was one of the fastest process I have ever had. I am so excited to have this card and rebuild my credit. I have no idea why there are few complaints from people that they didn't get their secured visa card on time when they applied

Avoid them at all costs. Their customer service is poor. I kept on receiving conflicting messages from their customer service department. Save yourself the headache and do business with people who value your time. I absolutely would not recommend this company.

Hometrust understands the "life happens" and looks at each deal on an individual basis. Clients are not looking for cookie cutter solutions. They want a financial institution to think outside the box, while adhering to compliance. Hometrust does this.

I too felt they have no empathy will bleed you dry during your tough times with high fees & high rates 4.89 when rates are low 1.59%. Also many people were coming to house as disguise. I believe they work undercover for HT to check on properties. I have rentals through Bank and this was my first time thru B lender trapped never again! Its now 3 mths done with Home Trust and still have not received my discharge papers!

If you are doing a mortgage with them, not a good company at all. They charge whole lot of fees. You name the service, they would have the fees attached to it. Would not recommend to do the business with them.

This company may be a scam. They have several ladies on the phone that do not understand finance. After a few attempts I asked to speak to a supervisor. Elizabeth the supervisor was at a loss about my questions and offered to escalate my complaint to the management. Guess what? She gave me a wrong email address for my complaint! So they mean it for a financial grab! Stay away. They charged me twice and for a week I can't get a clear answer about a double charge. Home Trust promises some interest and then charges 25% annualized in one month. Stay away!

Hello. I got the secured credit card for my wife and after a few days of using they decided to cancel the account without informing us. We realised after few days when transactions got declined at all time. We called them and guess what they only have one person to answer why it is cancelled and only thing you would know the reason is if he calls us back. LEVEL OF UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE. Don’t get anything with them.

Do not get mortgage with this company. I was dealing with a broker to get my refinance done, but one year rate at 4.89% for a year. Finally the term is nearing, and they kept a closing date on the weekend which is Sunday. When called, they said they will not allow to close either a day before or after. Not sure what kind of a mortgage company does. Seems like I will have to pay them extra days since I cant close on Weekends.be careful and read the terms carefully. Definitely do not recommend them at all. All they care is about taking advantage of other people and their money. Truly disappointed with this kind of idiotic companies.

One of the poorest companies we have dealt with as a home owner. We have had several properties (Rentals) at a given time with different lenders holding the mortgages and we have found HOME TRUST to be the worst possible lender in several areas. Personal relations, fees just to mention a couple.and Peter being one of the managers should not have the opportunity to deal with the public. I will never again have HOME TRUST be a part of any financial holdings in any way.there are way too many reputable companies out there then to take a chance with Home Trust. I just wish I would of listen to warnings from another rental property friend who had dealings with HOME TRUST.beware of this company. Their fees and penalties for paying off Mortgages are ridiculous and that's just 1 reason to stay clear. I can fill this page from my experience. Again. Peter, a manager @ Home trust should work as a used car salesman.and I will leave it at that.

They asked us to send them 1,000$ as a deposit, after almost 4 months they got back to us and said that they won't approve the application to a credit card.
Now they have my 1,000$ and I stuck with nothing!

I’ve been trying to call home trust for 2 hours now and still unable to get any help. They transfer me back and forth and keep on disconnecting me. They ask to input a zip code and I am from Canada. We have postal codes!
I’m beginning to wonder about this company!
Hmmm will have to do more homework. I’m so not happy right now as my in line account is inaccessible. I’m so upset!
