Hong Kong Island Dim Sum House

I don’t like talking bad about a restaurant that has my home country in the name. January 7/24- this place was just me and this other rude customer and we still waited around 20 minutes for our foods so service isn’t good. What made it worse is a new customer came in and waited 5 minutes and got food. This place is cash only unless you want to pay 1.50 extra. The final push was I got hot water instead of green tea which I ordered. The lighting was good cause I came before noon and the Cantonese doughnuts tasted delicious!

If I could give the place a zero I would. Trash, tasteless, portions suck and they charge a dollar for using debt. No wonder this place was empty. Garbage

Scam. When to order special priced item and was charged regular price. When asked at checked out, I was told I supposed to let them know I want the special item which is a smaller portion. What a scam. Avoid at all cost

CASH only beware! That being said, their pastries are super fresh and delicious. Egg tarts, coconut pineapple buns, coconut buns, green onion pancake, are amazing. I would not get their dim sum though, there are better options up north like Juicy Dumpling or Sky Dragon. Dining area can be messy sometimes but for the price, can't be beat!

SCAMMED! Bunch of scam artists at this place - I bought 3 steam bbq pork buns from here for $4.50. Only to get home, bite into it and realize that there’s only sautéed onions in; not a single piece of pork or any flavour. I went back to confirm if they gave me the wrong buns. The guy working at the front said that it’s a steamed bbq pork, he even confirmed with his coworker (older lady) who said that it was a steamed bbq pork bun. I called them out and told them that this was not a steamed bbq pork bun because there were only onions in it. I wanted a full refund and they reluctantly gave me back just $3 initially. I said where’s my $4.50? The guy stated that because I half of the bun, only $3 was being refunded. I said well, if I ate half a bun, you should give me back $0.75 plus my bun as well. They eventually gave me back $3.5, I just took my money, left in a fury and told them thanks for nothing. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT!

With today’s prices, it’s really rare to find such cheap and delicious cakes and breads. The quality is absolutely top-notch. It’s a bakery worth recommending. I will buy it all the time.

This was recommended to me as a cheaper alternative to juicy dumplings, but my goodness is this place awful.

The dumplings are made fresh.sure, but they lack flavour, seasoning and juiciness (isn't that the whole point?).

They also don't accept card, it's cash only.

They also sell other items that I didn't try, but with what I saw. I don't think it's worth the try to be honest.

I was recommended this spot as an alternative to Juicy Dumpling and it was extremely disappointing. No soup in the soup dumplings and very bland. The scallion pancake was freezing cold and tasted like it was made hours ago. I don’t mind if a place is cash only but it would be helpful if that information was displayed somewhere in the restaurant. Cheap prices but mediocre food, stick to Juicy Dumpling.

This use to be the Furama location but now has transformed into a modern and clean Chinese bakery + dim sum. Majority of the bakery goods were fresh, minus the green onion pancake I picked up. Good amount of filling in the pastry and tastier than other places. Have not tried dim sum.

I like the Almonds Croissant and pineapple bun with custard. Egg tart is ok

Very rude owner at the till. Literally throwing change at me and deliberately making me pick them up from the floor. Rubbish place.

The food is delicious, I will repurchase it many times! But today, 2023/9/29 Toronto Mid-Autumn Festival, I met a very lazy cashier at 1: 20 pm! Throw all the food I bought into a paper bag! The fritters are too long and partially exposed! Very unhygienic! When I got home, the whole house was a mess! The egg yolks are all peeled off! It ruins my mood of enjoying the moon and eating egg yolk cakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival!

We managed to stop by this place to grab a quick bite for teatime. There were so many choices of freshly baked pastries, bread and buns. We ordered a Pineapple Bun, an icy cold Taro Slush with Tapioca Pearls and some Pan Fried Dumplings. All tasted delicious!

Much like other reviewers noted, their photos look nothing like what they serve. Pan fried dumplings were tiny and pretty disappointing.

Staff is extremely rude and was yelling when taking your order. Pricing is misleading and won’t provide proper receipt. Sketchy and won’t recommend!

Rude staff. Menu pricing in their displays aren't updated, they charge you more than it says then they yell at you. They need to be reported.

The manager assaulted a woman outside of this business, left her with head trauma and bruising, and proudly boasted about it.

They have the best quality buns in downtown.
Definitely recommend coming here if you want to buy buns!
Their Chinese coffee and tea is also good.

The Hong Kong milk tea is really good but every time I order something from here the lady looks so annoyed by me also this place is cash only but there’s no signs stating that?

Great food. Decent prices. Freshly prepared. But.and there's always a but.unfriendly workers. Smile a bit, man. Ur face makes the food tastes bad even if it looks good.
