Horseshoe Lake Camp & Cottages

Welcome to Horseshoe lake campgrounds where it’s a lot like the tv series Trailer Park Boys.you have a drunken owner named steve who is very dishonest, rude and he likes to use some colourful words around children, i think he drinks bud light so that could be part of the problem.you have staff in the office who clearly have daddy issues and can’t control their attitude or actions they’re just in it for the money and have no respect or effort for their job.the dump sites are very dirty, and so are the washrooms.the park is a complete joke due to management and staff, they have no clue how to run a proper camp ground, considering they charge ridiculous amounts of money and lack of refunds or help im pretty sure they’re on the verge of bankruptcy.the three golden retrievers are about the only things who greet you, but if you were to take a quick look at the camp rules, it specifically states “your pet must be on leash at all times.do not leave your pets unattended for long periods of time” i find this rule to be a bit confusing since the three golden retrievers i just mentioned roam freely without any supervision at any time.the other big rule of the park that is strictly enforced is the speed limit, but unfortunately these rules don’t seem to apply to steve, and the staff.my last big complaint is the rule of alcohol it states
“ to be consumed only at your site, do not operate any motorized vehicles while drinking - please walk”. Obviously again this rule does not apply to the owner as i’ve watched him countless times go by on his golf cart doing 15-20kmh while gulping down his wonderful alcoholic beverage! If you have any concerns or issues with something the staff never seems to care.i’ve seen their yard workers and landscape workers greet multiple people while the drunken owner drives around on his golf cart yelling at kids.all in all i’m sure you can see the issue with this campground i do not recommend this place and i’ve been camping all around Ontario.this by far takes the cake as being the worst experience i’ve ever had, the only nice thing about this spot is the layout of the park.if i could rate this place 0 stars i would, please spend your money elsewhere as you’ll be very disappointed.

Mini golf was fun.

We love HLCC! It's fantastic for kids with a shallow beach and awesome playground.
Also very forested and sites are spread out, not a crowded park like some can be.
We would recommend!

Cottage 8 needs an update but for the price for the week, you cant beat that deal! Kids had a blast. We'd definitely be back!

Customer service is not that great, rude staff, otherwise it would have been a great camp ground

-I believe the 5 star reviews were paid bec our experience at this camp ground was less than enjoyable.
-Washrooms were barely maintained and always lacked tissue papers for some reason?
-Shower are pay to get cleaned, with only 25cents per 4 minutes, you can have the softest shower pressure known to man! With an added flood since the drainage is doing everything but drain the water. Also have i mention that there was no ventilation? So please shower with caution.
-Not a great place to have fun at night, the "daughter of the owner" graced us with her presence and threatened to have us kicked out if we werent quiet (we were literally whispering) and rudely told us to use our "library voice". At a camp ground? Lol, demand that we turn down the fire at the pit and did not leave till we did so.
-Did i mention that she also threatened to call the cops on us our neighboring campers had the exact same level of fire on their pit, yet the staff loved us so much i guess that we were the only ones scolded and yelled at.
-Its as if the owners goal is to make sure the CUSTOMERS PAYING FOR THEIR CAMPGROUND have a jail like experience. With their staff patrolling our area every 30mins making sure we comply to their every rule.
-Dogs are also not allowed to roam around the campground unleashed, yet their dog is allowed and seen roaming around freely, found this out when an adorable golden retriever suddenly popped up besides me.

Do yourself a favor and book this place if you like being micromanaged and pay for their lack luster amenities.

If, by rooms, we are referring to the lot for our camper trailer. A little bit of grass would have been a nice touch

Steve, Steph and their staff are so efficient! The generosity that Steve shows to his clients is above and beyond. Great to know that good people still exist

A nice place but it is a steep walk down to the beach area and back up. Was no too happy to see a couple of dogs being run through the camp site off leash and at over the posted speed limit.

Showers we're bad and you had to pay the water pressure was horrible the floor is uneven water wouldn't drain and not enough storage in the shower to put your stuff
