This hospital is a true blessing for me. My 8 year old son has been suffering with serious skin issues since 1 month old ; got him treated at various places in Toronto nothing worked in his best interest for his skin issues. I moved to Belleville Jun2023 and was suggested this hospital by his school and since then there is no turning back. Right from the front desk to the student doctors to the main doctors all were simply a blessing; took a good amount of time to examine his skin issues and by far the only hospital since I have visited many this has been a miracle.
Admitted to KGH Emergency Dec 31, by ambulance after breaking my femur. Surgery Jan 1. At KGH. Moved to Hotel Dieu Jan 2. Can’t say enough about the care I received on Johnson 3. From food services, nurses, PCA’s, cleaning staff, physiotherapy, occupational therapist, social worker, made a very hard experience good. Spend 15 days on Johnson 3. Looking forward to visiting when I come back for my clinic appt to show them my appreciation
Have been here many times and found the care to be excellent. But telling people to park on the ramp on Brock Street, walk in, and call to have patient delivered to the door DOES NOT WORK! Rarely is there a place (of the 2 pathetic spots) available, and if you CAN park, you are getting some very annoyed others around you (since they can't - or can barely - get by you, and the signs say 5 minutes stopping only!). Anything bigger than an SUV - my sympathies as the last corner is beyond tight. The hospital takes up 4 sides of a square, and this is the best they can do for drop off and pick up? Not on the nurses or doctors, obviously, but they do need to stop telling people to park on the ramp. Get the patient to the door for a fast pick up.
Horrible place, don’t waste your time. I’ve been multiple times the last 8 years in Kingston and not one positive experience with CHILDREN.unless you are bleeding out or dying there will be no help. They push Tylenol and “juice” which can easily be done at home which any parent clearly does before taking children to ER. Wasted a room for 5 hours to be told we would be transferred. Waiting another 1.5 hours to be told they were not transferring us and we can go home. Not a hospital, more a comical financial sucker. DO NOT GO FOR HELP.
I am compelled to share my deeply frustrating experience at Hotel Dieu during my friend's recent visit. My friend sought help for her mental health concerns, hoping to find support and understanding. However, the overall response from the healthcare professionals left us utterly disappointed and, frankly, infuriated. To add insult to injury, my friend was summarily told that she was "fine" without any thorough evaluation or consideration of her mental health concerns. This blatant dismissal of her feelings and struggles is not only unprofessional but also deeply concerning. Mental health is a complex and nuanced matter that requires careful attention and understanding, qualities that were sorely lacking in this encounter. Would NEVER recommend this hospital to anyone trying to find support for struggling with mental health. I hope this doctor doesn't treat anybody else this way.
Beyond disappointing the way, the nurses treat people, the amount of time you’re stuck waiting while your child’s coughing or puking their brains out is uncalled for what’s the point in being a Canadian if we can’t even obtain the healthcare that’s provided.
