Came into the store the other day. I was interested in purchasing a Rolex Lady-Datejust as a gift for my fiancé. Had a similar experience like many people who commented below. Basically was told by the owner to beat it. According to several former employees, they sell most of the rolex watches they receive to resellers out the backdoor for a bigger profit. This Rolex AD should lose its rolex license.

Wonderful experience at this store. I recently celebrated my 30th birthday, and prior to that visited Howard’s to inquire about a watch and get some specifics. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and patient, catering to all of my questions and requests. I have been a watch enthusiast for quite some time and am aware of the difficulties many AD’s currently face in todays market, yet Frank and the team went above and beyond to come up with a great plan for me, and they delivered! I cannot say enough about how comfortable and at home I felt here, thank you again and I will definetely be returning!

After multiple email exchanges inquiring about how I could go about obtaining a specific Rolex reference, I was eventually made to feel as though I was asking for a handout/favour. I went in knowing about the worldwide supply shortage, and was willing to wait 1-2 years to get “the call”. Although, the associate I spoke with, Frank, clearly leveraged their position as Ottawa’s only authorized Rolex dealer when he suggested that “he’d like to see me also buy a gift for my wife”. I called about a purchasing a watch, how buying jewellery for my wife was brought up is beyond me. I suppose $20,000 for a watch isn’t sufficient enough for Howard’s.

I implore anyone reading this to also read all their one star reviews on Google, you will find numerous individuals mirroring my exact sentiments regarding their preferential treatment of “generational clients”. Despite the evident pattern, Stephanie‘s response is consistently the same: utter surprise and concern, followed by a history lesson of her father’s great accomplishments and being a family owned business, but the fact is, they clearly have SLIMEY business practices. The consensus amongst the watch community forums I belong to is that their business model is based on satisfying their wealthy, repeat customers, while the rest of us are expected to fight for scraps. I am currently in contact with Rolex HQ to ensure they are aware of my experience and how their business is represented in the nation’s capital.

Institutions such as Howard’s perpetuate the 'old stock Canadian/good ol' boy’s club' narrative, and thus, their culture strikes a chord much louder than one’s inability to purchase a Rolex. Howard may have been a man of the people, but they have clearly changed course since his departure!

1. I updated my post to reflect the review I posted on your Facebook. My apologies for deleting your response to my original post.
2. I mentioned that I spoke with Frank. I was put in contact with Frank after multiple email exchanges with Jonathan. If you had taken a minute to talk to Frank about 'Sam', the 10 emails where I detailed the reference I was looking for would have become apparent, which included my email and phone number. You could have easily found my contact information, rather than insisting that I call you.
3. I did not think it was a “personal attack” that you didn't have the watch I wanted, in fact, I went in knowing you wouldn't have a single Rolex in stock, and that I would likely have to wait 1-2 years for the reference I want. It's only when it was explained to me, in loosely veiled language, what it would take for me to get “the call” that made me upset, and like I mentioned twice now, the fact that all correspondence stopped when I made it clear I was only interested in purchasing a watch.
4. You've made it clear that the “4th generation” relationships are Howard's priority, which validates my concerns. You say a wait list is not feasible, which again, points to the fact that you provide the watches to who you want, not who wanted them first. However you want to explain this away, it all points to the same thing: preferential treatment and unfair business practice.
5. I suppose everybody who is saying the same thing in your reviews is wrong? Unlikely. It's time to look inwards.
6. No “warmest wishes” for me?

Excellent products, excellent service, and, most crucial excellent taste. A gem in town. Thanks a lot to Frank, who is very experienced and has a keen eye for beauty. Frank can find the perfect match for my mother-in-law, my husband and me. We are all very impressed with his excellent sense of aesthetic and colour combination. It was a very satisfying, happy and no pressure experience with Frank and the whole team.

Very very bad experience those sell representative always trying to sell me 50k of Jewlery to sell me my first rolex after many years of waiting never got a single watch from this horrible Rolex AD

Spend your money wisely choose other Ad that respect their clients and respect Rolex rules not buy pass them to make extra money from the back door

I found out through a friend that this Rolex AD (howard fine jewellers in ottawa) is selling hard to get watches out the back door to resellers. Explains why they never allocate anything decent to local shoppers. Can't imagine they will keep the AD license very long doing this.

10/10. Jessica helped me pick out the perfect lab diamond and also helped me understand what to look for. I appreciated her patience and advice and that was the reason I opted to go with Howards. I brought in a picture of what I wanted and Jessica said to trust her and I’m glad I did.

Fiancée loves the ring and we are both thankful for Jessica. Great personality, patience, supportive and I felt no pressure at all.

My experience with Howards began several years ago when I was looking for my wedding band with my wife. At that time we met Sonja and from that a great professional relationship was born. It is so nice to have a contact with Sonja and the team at Howards who are so knowledgeable and professional. This is their home and career, and so even though I deal with Sonja every time I go in (over the last 7 years) I see the same people smiling and welcoming me.
One amazing thing about Howards is their ability to do custom pieces when necessary for you and the team is right there on site which is so cool and instilled a lot of confidence in me that Howards is a family, a group of professionals who are there to deliver to you the product that you want and they can advise you as necessary. I have never felt pressured there and always feel comfortable whether just browsing or when inquiring about a product.
Sonja helped me design my wedding band and the final product the team delivered was fantastic. She has helped me with gifts for my work team and for my wife, even a gift for myself.

Wife and I have been to Howard Jewellers a few times in the past year. From our very first visit, we were well taken care of. Even though we have primarily worked with Frank, the entire team at Howard Jewellers has been welcoming and attentive.

I came into Howard's a little bit burned by my experience with other jeweller's - customer service can often be lacking if you're not obviously wealthy. Howard's doesn't play that game. They treat you with kindness and professionalism no matter who you are.

I really can't overstate how nice it is to feel more than just "I bought something there". The service provided at Howard Fine Jewellers by far exceeded my expectations. I brought in my grandmother’s wedding rings to be resized for my own use, which is a quite a vulnerable experience as I was putting such special pieces in the hands of complete strangers! Very rude, dirty, superior looks from the entire staff for being there not in a tuxedo, told us to get out since our budget was under 7,000 for a ring, said they were
"doing us a favour by letting us come in and see their jewelry"

Security is intense (understandably) but staff is SO kind and inviting! Luxury stores like this are stereotypically “snobby” but that’s certainly not the case at Howard. They didn’t have the watch I was looking for, and despite the fact that they knew I wasn’t going to be making a purchase and continued providing flawless service says it all!

Can't recommend Howard's enough. I had inherited an engagement ring from a relative that was in rough shape, and could not be fixed short of being completely re-cast. My fiancé and I chose to have a new ring custom-built based on the old ring, and the folks at Howard blew us away. New ring is exactly what I was looking for, and is a perfect mix of the old ring's style with some more modern elements. Couple months ago, I came to the store to shop for Rolex watch. I was welcomed by a great staff. However, I didn’t made the purchase since they didn’t carry the one I love by the time which is Daytona steel one. But the staff gives me advice that I can call the store often to check the watch’s availability. And if the store has it, I could come in to make a purchase.
So today I called the store and asked for Rolex stock availability, I was transferred to the Rolex sales department. The lady who answered the phone first asked if I located in Ottawa. I said yes. Then she asked if I was in their system which means if I made purchase before. I said no, this would be my 1st purchase. Then she told me she won’t sell any professional Rolex collection because of this. And I asked if the store have any Rolex watches to choose from. She said no. I don’t like the fact that she is asking me to purchase other classic one before she would sell me any Daytona. And I’m not enjoy the experience with this staff.

Really fantastic customer service at this location. Personally I met with Sladjana who spent almost an hour with me getting to know me and learning what it is exacltly that I was looking for and how they could support my needs. Very much worth your time to pop in if you are looking for quality jewelry, a custom peice or luxury watches.

I came in to have some jewelry cleaned and repaired. The service was amazing and Emilia who cleaned my jewelry was super helpful and friendly.

Stephanie helped my fiancé and I pick out our wedding bands and made the entire experience magical from start to finish. I had my first experience doing business at Howard's yesterday, very impressed with the whole operation. The young lady at the front entrance was very friendly to me. Inside I met Sladjana who I had made an appointment with earlier, to look at 2 Tudor watches in 32 and 36mm, as I was deciding which size I wanted to go with. Ultimately I chose the 36 but they did not have the dial colour I desired. Sladjana was incredibly kind and helpful and put in an order for the model I wanted.

Even though I am not a high profile customer and I made a relatively small purchase, I do not feel as though this affected the service which I received, as I have experienced this before whilst working in and dealing with the jewellery industry in the past. I brought several rings that I inherited to Howard to have them appraised, resized and have a new ring designed using the stones on two of them. I am so pleased with the result, as is my grandmother who gifted the rings to me.

Stephanie and Emilia immediately understood the importance of these pieces to me and to my family and walked me through every step of the process with the utmost care. Stephanie immediately understood the type of new design I was looking for and suggested a creative alternative to resizing one of my rings by turning it into earrings. They went above and beyond to ensure that the pieces fit me, both my fingers and my personality.

I want to thank Sonja specifically for providing me excellent service and getting me the watch that I wanted. First to note, as I feel
this was an important trait in how she conducts business and how good her customer service is. This specific watch had some history and a situation occurred which I prefer not to reveal out of respect to everyone's' privacy but in this situation it truly showed Sonja's client/customer loyalty as well as due diligence. Owning a business myself, I highly value what she did and just shows how great her loyalty is.

Everything about this transaction I believe was meant to be, everything was extremely smooth and it all worked out in the end. She was not eager for the sale, she gave me all the information I had asked for and was extremely knowledgeable. I also appreciated her opinion as she made a great point regarding this specific watch.

Sonja's nothing short of amazing, she communicated with me throughout the whole way and followed up with me after my first initial visit and we were able to conclude everything in a short time frame. She has such a positive, friendly and upbeat attitude and is very down to earth and I am so glad that we worked together in finalizing the purchase of the watch. Upon finalizing the sale of the watch I had come in last minute as I was tied up during the week. Sonja wasn't expecting me to come in at such short notice but even then she was so efficient in concluding everything from the purchase and didn't make me feel rushed at all, even though the store was near closing hours. She was also acted very promptly for a request I had last minute as well.

Walked in to get information about the Rolex Submariner. They told me they did not have any and that even if they did, they would not sell it to me. They basicaly told me to go somewehere else and wished me good luck.

I’ve been a customer of Howard’s for many years. While they have beautiful jewelry available I’ve personally used their services to design unique pieces. I'd encourage anyone to think about this as an option at Howard’s. Most recently, I worked with Stephanie to design an heirloom piece, and step by step she helped me translate a basic idea to an improved design and construction. The end product was fantastic and the experience of getting there was great.

My experience has been that Howard's will stand behind what they make and sell whether it is new construction or an estate piece. An issue has only arisen once, but when it did, there was no issues which was a huge relief.

If Stephanie is not available, don't worry. This positive experience of care and diligence has been a common theme in my customer experience. Others I've dealt with, like Frank, have shown similar care so you'll likely be well served regardless. Without a doubt I'd work with Stephanie and/or Frank again.

Earlier this year my fiancé and I went to Howards and worked with Frank. Recently visited Howard’s to get my husband’s Tudor watch that I had given him on our 35th wedding anniversary a much needed overhaul. My husband learned a harsh lesson in that although some people consider themselves capable of working on these watches, no one beats the quality and workmanship and guarantee of Howard’s. My husband and I are more than happy at the end result. The staff were always friendly and courteous and took the time to answer our multiple questions. My experience with Howards Fine Jewellers was amazing. My 89 years old father had recently expressed his desire to be able to wear his 1960 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date watch for his 90th Birthday. The problem was that his precious timepiece had not been out of the box for the past 30 years. Of course, I immediately contacted Howards where the watch was purchased over 60 years ago and made an appointment. Upon our first consultation, a bracelet issue was easily repaired on the spot at very little cost. However, they strongly recommended the Rolex be overhauled completely which was not expected and quit the expense. Having done some of my own research, they were right about the maintenance schedule and I trusted the service provided by their management staff. Sladjana answered all my questions, concerns, emails and explained in detail every step taken to assure a satisfactory result. In the end, the Rolex watch became like new again and my father will be granted his BD wish. Thank you Sladjana and all the staff at Howards for such a professional service delivery.

Went to Howard's to look for an engagement ring. Really good & diverse selection of diamonds, gemstones, settings, etc. Ring was made in-house and within 2 weeks to meet the proposal date. Staff is super knowledgable and offer great service. Provides cleaning for the ring whenever we drop by.

Recently repaired one of my rings. Excellent experience. Booked a time to drop off the ring (and pick up later). Very convenient to have an appointment. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly; the work done was A+ as usual and my ring was even ready ahead of schedule. I'm not shopping much in person during covid but I felt very comfortable with all their protections in place. Very positive experience! I recently brought my engagement ring into Howard Fine Jewellers to be sized and altered so I can have a wedding band sit flush with the ring.
