I was panicking on how I was going to get ahead when everything was just making it but would never get ahead. I approached Ian and I must say I sense of relief faded and began to breath normally again. I truly recommend Ian he has a way of making you feel very comfortable and understanding.

I contacted Hoyes Michalos after years of trying to deal with debts and feeling like I couldn't keep my head above water. I received a reply to my inquiry very quickly and began working with Scott. He has been so helpful in explaining all options and helping me find one that works for my situation. I rate this company a zero. On their website, they claim a 99 percent success rate. They do not define "success rate" however, I must be the lucky 1 in 100 that did not fall within their "99 percent success rate". I filed a consumer proposal through their office and ended up paying MORE than I owed. Apparently, those you owe can add additional fees and charges at time of proposal. Not only did I pay ALL of my accumulated debt, I paid additional interest and penalties PLUS Hoyes Michalos's fees. Overall, I paid approximately 35% more than I owed. I am deeper in debt now than I was before making "the call". As stressful as my debt situation was, it is much worse now after working with these people. I have obviously made a lot of poor financial decisions in my life but this tops them all. AVOID OR LOSE MORE THAN YOU THOUGHT POSSIBLE.

So I had a good and bad experience with them. Some of the team are friendly, and some aren't so friendly. My whole bankruptcy went fine until it came for tax time. Come tax time the person who does the taxes ended up changing my marital status causing me to owe the government money that I don't actually owe them. It is now 4 months later and the government is still giving me issues with this. They are good to use, but when it comes time for taxes make sure they know if you are single or common law 1000 times before they do your taxes. Otherwise u will end up owing a stupid amount of money that you don't actually owe.

I worked with Ian, and he provided me excellent service, awnsered all of my questions, even when my case was somewhat unusual. Anything I need financially, I can send him an email and he promptly replies with great advvy, even after proposal was completed. Truly a caring organization, quite rare these days. 10 out of 5 stars if I could.

I had actually thought the processes would be stressful. Ian martins took it step by step and make sure i understood every aspect and what i am committing into. I was that so relieved and put off that fearful moment of my life each time my phones rings from the creditors. Today I received my Certificate of Discharge, I feel liberated. For years I had stressed and worried about the debt I was in from a business venture gone bad over 10 years ago, and I had no way out of. I knew my only option was bankruptcy but I kept putting it off because I was afraid of the process and I didn’t even have all of the information I needed because I didn’t have access to any of the paperwork from that business venture. I had such terrible opinions about bankruptcy. I struggled with the choice of bankruptcy. UNTIL a family member gave me the push I needed to just make a phone call and inquire about my situation. I called the most reputable company I could find in my area, I am so happy I did. Within 2 minutes of speaking with someone ALL my worries and doubts we’re gone. Within a week I was assigned a Trustee, and we started the bankruptcy process. This company is AMAZING.
I was drowning in debt, and I'm 26. This was from school loans, my car payments, insurance, groceries, credit cards, my cellphone and more. I wanted a fresh start, and as many people know - its not fun asking for help for your finances, especially when you're in the negative.

I contacted Hoyes for a consultation, by the way ITS FREE! And the initial call is what gave me the first good impression. The woman who I would speak with at reception was so pleasant and very patient. She set me up for a meeting with Scott later that week. Scott was fantastic, he listened to everything I was going through, didn't judge me for a second, was motivated to help me get a fresh start, and took the time to run through all of the options with me and was very patient about it.

I then was directed to Diane, who was the cherry on top of this experience. She is awesome, and very welcoming and friendly. She was the one to help me with the details of all of the debts I incurred. She immediately contacted the credit bureaus and the phone calls and pestering stopped. She dealt with all the stress and headaches of my debt. She checked in with me a few times to assist with credit counselling and budgeting. She's been a wonderful help to me and was able to get my 30k debt down to 6k. I've been fortunate this year with CERB/CRB to pay these debts off in full - however this decrease in my debt, no interest building on it during the 5 years, and my credit has increased HEAPS! She also told me that the credit counselling is fully included in their price (thats included in my 6k) and can be used whenever, even though I'm finished with my payments, I'm still going to reach out if I need help with finances or budgeting in the future.
