Have been there approximately 8 times. Never disappointed. Good food. Good flavour. Good prices. Never disappointed. Lots of leftovers.good to take home for lunch the next day!
Firstly we were all up all night with stomach pains after eating this. The egg rolls tasted old and undercooked. The chow mein and beef broccoli had so much salt in it, it was unedible. Wonton broth tasted like water. We won't be back here.
Food was awful egg roll and chicken balls had a stale taste rice had no taste and general Tao wasn’t even spicy like it should be. They gave us half off our meal which we didn’t even eat half of. Won’t be be back. It was amazing food when last owner had it.
Food was delicious taste just like before. Service was very slow ordered and had to wait over a half hour for our food. May need more servers and or cooks. First time there since it reopened and first time we had to wait so long.
I am very disappointment since Hoy's reopened in February of 2023. I feel it has changed quite a bit since the new owners have taken over. The Food isn't the same as before, They are always messing up My order, missing items. The staff are rude, When You ask them a question they are short, snippy, Have no patience. (That has happened twice) & their conversations are more important than the Customers. I am not one to complain about a business, but I couldn't let this pass because Hoy's was a place I always enjoyed going to.
The food was delicious and they had a great variety of options. The staff was pleasant but a bit slow but it was ok because were dining with friends we don’t see often.
Not as good under new ownership. Food is undercooked and bland. Our general tsoa order was replaced with some weird spicy broccoli dish. Not impressed at all.
Downhill slide fast you order something you get something else they don’t even apologize I asked for sweet-and-sour breaded shrimp they gave me these Panko shrimp that I have in my freezer so I might as well have save the 15 bucks and just defrost the seven dollar ones But I would cook them, instead of leaving them all gooey So I phone back and asked the fella that answered the phone to describe the sweet-and-sour breaded shrimp And he described exactly what I thought I was ordering, not Panko And he said oh well Last time you see in order for me
Called and placed an order for delivery at 3: 47. Was told it would be 20 to 25 minutes. At 5: 50 I called back and they said they lost the order and it would be another 20 minute wait. Called back at 6: 15 to find out where my order was and was told that they tried to delivery to the wrong address. No one called me to say anything or ask if the address was correct. Worst service ever. Was also told that the only credit I could get would be for two free drinks and two free desserts if I ever went in and ate. Which in 3 years hasn't happen, I just order delivery. Not happy at all.
A fantastic Chinese Restaurant right in the beautiful Township of Simcoe! Food is great & served plentiful. The pricing isn't too bad either. The Restaurant itself is well maintained, very clean & has the right ambiance for any setting. The reasons I didn't give it a perfect score was their menu pricing online was higher than their actual menu in-house. Additionally, any leftover food isn't packed by the staff as it is traditionally in most restaurants, but left up to the customer (s) to do so (I don't know if that's a safety protocol thing given the times we're in-but the staff never mentioned that, so I presume that's just the way it is here). Nonetheless, if one is in the Simcoe area, this Chinese Restaurant won't disappoint & is well worth the visit.
Update, March 18,2023: Made a return trip here & the service/food both remained just as good as my last visit back in May of 2022 (please see my then review above). Food again was served by the plentiful & quickly (despite being busy at the time of our visit). Both the Host/Hostess were excellent-looking forward to the next dine-in!
I ordered yesterday, food was delicious I will say that. Only complaint I have is my spouse got a bone in his wonton and he broke his tooth which there shouldn’t be bones in. So I called to just simply let them know of this event. The person who answered the phone said he would get the manager then I heard the manager arguing and the person came back on the phone and was like ‘ uh ya were really busy so he can’t take the phone call but he sends his apologies’ and I’m like this is how you run your business? Really? He’s like I’m just the messenger don’t shoot the messenger. I understand you’re busy, but you could have took my number down and returned my call later.
Nice decor; great food (all was hot) ; music should be more oriental.to make for a better atmosphere; some staff were not dressed for food service;. But.would come back if we're in the area.
