Once we discovered Humber Nurseries we never shop elsewhere! They have an amazing selection of plants and trees and have been so responsive to our questions and any of our orders no matter how small! The quality of plants and the price have kept us coming back. A big thank you to Michelle who is always been so helpful!

Great selection and quality. Just do your research before you go - staff were very helpful but a bit thin on the ground.

This nursery used to be my favorite and worth the drive. The new management seems to have a different vision, less than a quarter of the variety, much more pricey. So sad to see my favorite nursery gone with its previous owners.

Good selection on trees but not on plans
new please looks like a construction zone
it dose not seem to be ready for season
hope it will improve over time

Huge selection, but unfriendly staff. Was interesting to see staff voluntarily interact and offer help to other white folks but not have the same attitude with people of colour. Wish there were more BIPOC-owned nurseries so I could go there instead.

This was our Go-To nursery when they were on Hwy 50. We were happy to discover them again at their Bramalea Rd location.but.customer service was very disappointing. The hoping female who greeted us did not know the location of a particular perennial. She found out and we were given directions and found the plants were looking for. They were not in good shape and we returned to ask if they were being discounted given the state of the leaves and flowers. Answer from her was NO. After looking at our selections, we asked her why they looked the way they did. She did not know. After some hesitation, she said she would ask her manager about them. He finally arrived and in a very few seconds bliythly stated that the plants were in great shape.and kept on walking! I just looked at the female.asked her incredulously if that was the answer and she shrugged. We returned to the selection site, looked at another plant and asked another worker about the condition. His answer was brusque and he hardly looked at the plant I was holding. To sum up, this was a very uninspired employee group who gave the impression that you were not important not could they care about satisfying.

I called in today to check if they have any type of espalier fruit tree, as i need to replace one along my fence that was damaged by rabbits over the winter. Andrea took my call, put me on hold and check. She came back and said that there were 3 left and they're on special. I drove all the way from Markham across the 407 and got there in 30 minutes only to find out that there are none. Andrea said that she called nurseries to check and they said there were 3 left. The older gentleman in the nurseries said he didn't check and told them that there were some left this morning, Andrea must have went by system inventory. The "manager" whom they let me talk to just said he will talk to the girls who are taking call that day, but state that that I should " know that no one will admit to this". It's one thing to waste our time, it's just horrible to have no accountability or responsibility, from top to bottom.

An expansive selection of plants. I bought six large Incrediball Hydrangea for a hedge along my deck. The shrubs are tall and strong and they are blooming prolifically:) I also found some Whoops-a-Daisy daisies. I really wanted to try these in my perennial bed this year but couldn't find them anywhere. There were so many other beautiful plants, I wish I had come here first before filling up the spaces in my perennial bed.

Used to be an amazing garden centre but it's closing Fall 2019 so inventory is dwindling, displays are falling apart and staff seems to be minimal.

I am very sad that Humber Nurseries will no longer be open to the public for retail sales after they move to their Caledon location this fall. Every spring for many years we have enjoyed our visit to Humber. They have always had friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Plus the largest selection and best quality of plants, shrubs, trees and garden supplies anywhere. Our spring tradition, (like many others), will come to an end this fall as their focus at the new Caledon location will be wholesale only.
The end of a wonderful gardening experience. Very very sad.: (

A massive nursery with an incredible selection. Good prices too, though the tropical plants seemed rather steep. We visited for a couple of hours in the morning, and only saw a few staff. When we finally did talk to a staff though, he was very friendly and helpful. Also, the carts almost all seem to be either falling apart, stiff, or really bad at turning.
Apparently they close in October, just a heads up

Good choices of plants and flowers. Not all staff are knowledgeable about plants. Sad this place ia closing down end of 2019. I guess they sold the property: (

Visiting for 55 years. Sometimes good often not. Stephanie Churm's review - yes. I've many times bought things mislabelled - months later in the ground miles away it's too much bother to prove it. Staff over the phone promise things quite different or not even there on arrival, and yes, you're bothering them. It's still a far cry from the best of the Brits or even south of the border, but love/hate it is - unless you resort to the internet for everything, what other choice do we have? But I sure do wish they'd commission elegant high end frost proof extra large clay & metal (antiqued copper even?) pots - the Brits & Americans have beautiful ones but Canadian supplies are ugly and pitiful and break. All it needs is someone with better taste as buyer or even as investor creating their own line if there's no current Canadian manufacturer. But I still am grateful Humber is there and spend hours there. Better to be there than not.

I've been coming here for a couple years now and it's very much hit or miss. They have lots of greenhouses and more varieties of most plants than you'll see anywhere else. It's great during the on season but the off season staff are pretty terrible - impossible to find, not helpful at all, chat amongst themselves at cash and pretty well ring you through as fast as they can so they can carry on with their conversations. The last few times I've been there, half of the tropicals and most of the succulents have been dead or dying. It feels like the winter staff are just coasting by. There was an employee behind the desk that could've been watering, pruning, or deadheading, but was quite comfy looking at her phone. The pots and supplies are very expensive as well compared to other nurseries.

Bad service. I had some plants under guarantee.no one told me of policy that only credit note was issued.and if u buy plants with the credit note there is no guarantee on those plants

Just called if they sell 5 gallon planters - tells me they don’t? It’s a huge garden centre— he didn’t even go check.

Amazingly large nursery, with large variety of trees, tropicals, vegetables, fish and pots. Deepest price cut for trees before winter I every see. $50 for column gold maple 12 ft tall. The price cut is amazing for trees.

I’ve been coming to this place since the early 1990s in the days when I owned my landscape business. They have the finest quality of plants around the GTA. Staff are also well trained to help you in all areas. As a consumer, it’s my go to place. You’ll never get the quality at any big box.always get what you pay for.
Just remember, this is all they sell and make sure customers are happy. In all businesses there will be days when staff/people aren’t quite the best but don’t take it on the business. Slow down to judge especially with negative comments on a small issue. Best to say nothing at all.
Thanks for helping make homes and the planet a beautiful place.

I've shopped here a few times, there are a lot of options and the end if season sales are great.

Purchased bulk topsoil 2.5 weeks in advance and asked for morning delivery. Was told it could not be guaranteed but they would do their best and it should be feasible given my early order. Day before delivery I called and first they could not find the order and had to call me back. 45 minutes later they called and said they found the order and it would be delivered late afternoon next day. I complained about the delivery time and was put through to a "supervisor" who was rude, unhelpful and refused to accommodate me one bit. As a result I cancelled my order and asked for a refund. I found the same product at a competitor garden centre for cheaper and they delivered with 1.5 hours of ordering!

Positives: Early season variety is great, have some rare vegetable varieties and a large selection of flowers.

Negatives: Pots, tools, soil and trees are insanely expensive until they go on clearance prices and fish/snails are poorly kept. Bought some snails and koi fish and most of the livestock died before I got home roughly 20 minutes after paying. No guarantee either and terrible customer service.

All in all, good place to get vegetable plants in the early part of the season but I would avoid it after that

We were lined up today on Friday for 1/2 hour for no reason because there was nobody to direct the traffic. The girl who was apparently training Vaishnavi (the trainer didn’t have her name tag on) was extremely rude. She was uncouth, sarcastic and humiliating when she asked me to have patience or come another day. She reprimanded me as if I were her teacher. What a shame! 2 people left from waiting for a long time. They didn’t say we could go to another counter. I am never coming back. This girl should be retrained to behave. She went on and on even when I tried to be sweet and polite with her.

It is a big place, you will find anything you need such as trees, flowers, and plants, but the prices too high. They make false advertising to bring more customers in. When you asked them for sales items, they will till you that sold out. They put 3 gal purple leaf sand cherry for $12.88, but when you see the prices it says $18.88. I spoke with the customer service staff and he told me that he could write anything for sale even if it is not available, I told him that is fraudulent to make a false advertisement. He said it is his board and it is his Nursery and he could write anything.

Poor customer service. (desk number 5.) I see the same two girls every time I come here.not even once I seen them greeting any customers or saying thank you! Someone need to train them proper customer service.

Went to Humber nurseries at the end of last year, purchased 2 Emerald Cedars for $129.00 each, they died. Went back this year in May to have them replaced cause they have tags on them still that claims there is a 2 year warranty, they replaced them only for them to want to charge me more cause it was spring time and peak season for planting. We argued back and forth an told them that I wanted the same trees replaced regardless of what they were selling them for now! So finally they replaced them only for them to die again, went back and told me that although the tags on the trees clearly state 2 year warranty that my warranty was no longer valid! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLE QUALITY AND MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN ANY OTHER GARDEN CENTER AROUND! I just bought 2 new Emerald Cedars for $89.00 at another garden center and they are of much better quality and friendlier staff!
