Had late lunch at HBH a couple of months ago on their outdoor patio. Me, my wife, my parents and our little dog.
We were greeted warmly and seated promptly by the friendly waitress. Ordered the nachos, pizza, hbh burger, salad and the brisket.
Food was very tasty and the portions were big. My mom had the nachos and they were excellent. She is not a big eater so we all helped her out but still brought some home. My dad had the pizza which was also very good. My wife had the beet salad and I had the brisket and we all enjoyed the food thoroughly. Also had a couple of IPAs that were recommended by the staff. They also brought out a water bowl for our little dog which was appreciated.
Great experience and highly recommend. You can’t go wrong with HBH.
Let me begin by saying that I'm the kind of person who orders the chicken sandwich at 90% of the new pubs I try, unless the place is known for some other novelty dish. Over my time, iv likely tried chicken sandwiches from 30-50 different establishments, and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich at HBH is HANDS DOWN my number 1. Iv now driven back to this location a handful of times (1.5-2 hr drive from home) to get THIS sandwich exclusively. I just pray now that they do not change this sandwich in anyway for the foreseeable future. PSA TO ALL OTHE PUB OWNERS: Go, and taste this sandwich to understand what would make a customer drive hours to eat their dish. Thank you greatly HBH for the wonderful experience you bring to my taste buds every time i visit.
Everything was just OK, Service was great but food taste, not my favorite. Hamburger and pizza both served on time but not super impressive with taste. Just my opinion, might you like it!
I've been coming here for years, but over the past few months have made it my go to stop on Main.
Such a great vibe here and selection of drafts and specialty pizzas is always impressive.
There is an obvious love for the work, fellow employees and especially the customers by all the staff, in particular Bruno, who seems to somehow know every guest sitting at the bar!
Highly recommend you give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!
The hostess was TERRIBLE and RUDE! We walked in, no greeting. Asked her: can we sit at the table outside? No response … asked her again: is it ok? She responded with no expression: I don’t know what are you talking about. My husband then said, just right outside the building. She kept walking. ” yeah. I just have to wipe it down” We just walked right out across the street. It’s a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Too nice of a day to deal with below standard customer service. We will never ever go back. This is the second time we came to this place. Last time was dinner, the server was also miserable. Something off about this place. Do not come to this place, let these miserable ppl ruin your day.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. We never got the servers name because he never introduced himself but he was a wearing a hat and working behind the bar. It felt like he was intentionally ignoring us and tending to the tables around us. We had to flag him down to make a food order 30 minutes into being seated. We sat with empty drinks for almost a half hour because he didn’t quality check the food or see how we were doing. After an hour he asked if he had forgotten drinks for us and we replied “well you haven’t been back to ask if we wanted more”. He didn’t seem to care so we asked for the bill. The lack of professionalism and care was astounding. Unless you are regulars I highly recommend skipping this place.
Came in here for lunch and Steph was my server. She was really personable and my glass was never empty (most importantly). The food was fantastic and everyone at the table had a great experience. The craft beer selection was fantastic as well and Steph was yet again to the rescue with spot on suggestions! Would definitely come back!
Terrible experience. Waitresses were very rude and awful. Especially the one waitress Shayla she was so rude and disrespectful. Made mistakes and didn’t say sorry and gave us the cold shoulder. Never going again.
What an incredible experience this was! If you are looking for a quick branch or a Sunday stroll, with a genuine brewed beer, than stop by Hungry Brew Hops! - and you won’t be disappointed, great service, great food, lovely atmosphere, and extremely cozy. TonytheG78 recommending this place…five stars
Great selection of craft beer. Delicious menu. Would definitely recommend the cauliflower fritters as an appy. Good location on Main St. Love the decor and atmosphere of the place. Friendly staff.
My friend and I dined at HBH for the first time in a few years. Bruno took real good care of us, very friendly and very knowledgeable A+ service well done Bruno and staff
Spend a couple hours here about a week ago. Overall, the experience was positive- service was good, food was really pleasing, the beer selection was superb (extra points for using the appropriate glassware). There's also a little bottle shop, if you fancy such attractions. However, I do know that it was Saturday evening, probably the busiest time of the week, but I'd love to have a tiny bit of personal space- being crammed in elbows distance between two other parties was rather uncomfortable. On the picture- BBQ Pork Nachos, which, again, were splendid and made two adults completely full.
We had a lovely time, the atmosphere, service and food are all excellent! The restaurant enthusiastically accommodated our party of 5 and the whole experience was fantastic. Friends highly recommend the burgers and beer, including the sweet and interesting fruit beer. I had the salmon with roasted potatoes and veggies and it was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. The waitress even split our bills per each person and gave us recommendations of where to go for dessert. Thank you very much for the great night!
Like every streetside outdoor patio in every town and city that I've ever patronized during the pandemic, this one is plagued by noisy sportscars, motorcycles and trucks. That's not on Hungry Brew, but it is a cautionary tale to have your COVID paperwork ready and dine inside. This is a high quality food establishment with an extensive craft brew tap list. While the food is priced as expected and good value, pricing on the draft beer is aggressive - with tip, it tops $10 for a less-than 500 ml pour. That's pricey kegged beer, craft or not. I tucked into a schnitzel and beer special that seemed well-priced at $30 until I realized it was tied to only the most boring beer on the board, a blonde. The schnitzel seemed a little fatty - what did I expect, it was fried in duck fat - but flavourful as was the lone vegetable, potatoes. The person next to me had the roasted beet salad, reportedly outstanding.
This is an absolute must to visit place. Excellence on all counts. From checking-in to food quality and service while they were literally packed to the limits. It's absolutely positively superstar place. Beer selection is Super. Tried several couldn't cover 5% selection so must return to complete the evaluation and will. Food was very tasty, deserts to die for. We will be back.
Last nights dinner was a miss. Food was decent, but the plating was haphazard (felt like a small town diner). One of our apps was still frozen in the centre, which was comped off our bill so not a big deal. Stuff happens.
Server didn't do quality control check after mains arrived, so we didn't end up ordering another round of drinks which was disappointing.
We figure we just came in on an off night - restaurant was packed so I'm sure our experience was not commonplace.
The only reason I'm giving four stars was the wait for the table and the wait for the food. However I'm perfectly willing to acknowledge that covid restrictions and possible understaffing were the causes. Service was fantastic and the food was AMAZING. We had the house burger and the fried chicken, both were mouth-wateringly good. My husband enjoyed both the house blond and the house red he tried and I loved my cider cocktail. Absolutely can't wait to go back!
Went there last night. Food and drinks were great. Service was terrible. We got our food before our drinks which is not the end of the world but server then never checked on us. We sat on the patio and asked 4 different servers for our server. We got drinks and apps and wanted to order main dishes but after 45 mins of not seeing our server and the other guy that finally did cash us out confirm our server was still working we said forget it and went home. We told our server we like her leg butterfly tattoos and just grin and walked away. Only thing she said all night. Was not enjoyable. Never again. Which sucks cause food and drinks were good
Lunch today started out alright since we were their first and only customers, but as more people arrived, we were forgotten about after our food arrived. We waited 15 minutes and never saw the server at our table again.
The worst part was when the "owner" illegally refused my 2 year old daughter to use the rest room because I was not wearing a mask. I have a legitimate medical reason and the poster they had up stated that York Region Health allowed mask exemptions.
This is not right and this review serves as a warning to anyone who has a medical exemption to stay away from this business who thinks they can supercede Ontario law.
I would never leave a bad review if I didn’t think it was justified but this was the ABSOLUTE worse service I have ever received. I was honestly scared to ask my server for the bill because she was so rude and unwelcoming, I was in disbelief someone like this could be in customer service. Me, as well as all my family are in the restaurant business and tip well and give benefit of the doubt when it comes to bad service but was unacceptable. I believe the servers name was Shayla, I felt extremely disrespected especially when she slammed the take out container on our table. She made me feel belittled and stupid for asking questions or for something, she also ignored me. We had to ask the host for the bill because me and my friend were scared of her. I have came her many times with friends and family and usually have an amazing staff. I will never come again. Side note the host was great.
Service was decent, not as bad as some recent reviewers wrote. The hbh Burger with fries looked sad especially being served on a big tray. Burger looked like a junior from mcDs, however it did taste good, just small. Overall it's okay, its not bad, a little pricey for what you get.
Hungry Brew Hops restaurant's patio is a great place to pass a summer evening with friends. The restaurant has a great selection of food, beer, wine and alcohol. There you can enjoy looking at the main street in Newmarket with its very pretty and clean charm. The resturaunt staff are friendly and servicce is good. The prices are on the high side, but it is nice to treat yourself sometimes and this is a great place to do that.
If you like my reviews, photos or videos brew a thumbs hop.
Honestly, I don't know where to begin.flat greeting upon entry.long wait for any service although light dinner crowd. Very loud and somewhat rude server seemed angry right off the bat. 1 out of 3 apps incorrect and all 3 cold and greasy. All 4 beverages correct the first time.only 2 out of four the second time.strange.entrees all correct however 2 waaaay undercooked and one cold cold and nasty greasy. Very slow service and it somehow got ruder as the server screwed up more.very weird place and strange attitude.done with it
Food was horrible, pizza was pretty much dough. Only positive was their bartender Reagan. Very friendly and knowledgeable, almost made up for the subpar food.
Had takeout the first time yesterday, was not disappointed! Had the cauliflower fritters and the chickpea smash sandwich, both were so good! Was made and ready for pick up within 10 minutes, super fresh and love that there is vegan options for people like me with food allergies. Highly recommend this place, staff are very friendly and helpful!
Great food and ambiance but horrible customer service. No respect or appreciation, they seem to be doing great during Covid and don't need new customers.
This was out first meal out in a long time due to Covid, and the food and beer did not disappoint. The restaurant was clean and seemed to adhere to infection control measures (nervous and watching), which put me at ease. The bartender Bruno was really friendly and attentive and helped us pick something we would like. Food was great-no complaints, will definitely be back.
Food was good, service was okay and environment was pleasant. It was my first time in downtown Newmarket and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. They have a huge variety of craft beer and wine for those who love alcoholic drinks. I tried poutine which was okay and burger and duck wings were good.
We go to HBH often and love how they support small craft breweries. My friends have beer and I usually have a peach or apple cider which are amazing. The peach cider is from a local Newmarket producer who sources the peaches and apples from Niagara. Delicious! They have a great lunch menu which is really reasonable and tasty. Normally I order the salmon entree however they also have great burgers etc. Friendly service. Best place on Main St.
Pretty cool place to hang out on the patio. Decent selection of beers and the serving of the pulled pork nachos was massive! Our server was fun and attentive. Will definitely go back.
Was here last week and enjoyed their steak and fries. Steak lacked flavour and sorry to say salt and pepper does not count. The cook could not get a meadium rare done right and the fires were overly oily and undressed. The waiter was nice but unattentive. Will I go there agian? Only when forced. Also bar staff messed up on a few drink orders.
Not even worth going.i had an interview here and after, they discussed the interview with people who didn't even work there and said terrible things about me! I can't believe i thought they were super nice!
I would typically give this a 5 star rating. The staff has always been friendly and kind however the unpleasant redhead server ruined that. From the moment we sat down at the table she had a bad attitude. She didn’t even try to hide her discontent. We ended up moving to another section. Being rude to customers and other staff shouldn’t be tolerated.
Nice place to go with friends to enjoy an extensive selection of craft beers. The food is just okay, but the service is consistently poor. Staff is slow, never comes to check on you or are just plain unfriendly.
Pints are not actually pints, as a pint is 18 to 20 Oz and they served me beer in a 14 Oz pint, steak was really small, chilli dog was over cooked chilli on it was nothing special, the wait staff were pretty good. I don't know if I'd go back especially for the beer.
A year and a half ago this was easy 4.5 stars for me. I then ordered take out and watched them microwaving my food about 6 months ago. Vowed I wouldn't come back but figured I'd give it another try with the kids this weekend. While I want badly to like this place the food was nearly inedible. Kids chicken finger dry like sandpaper and fries that were oil saturated, dark brown and floppy like speghetti noodles. Basically they were equivalent to yesterday's fries warmed up in the microwave. Duck wings aren't fresh they too are warmed up. The beer might be ok, but the food quality is really poor.
I was there with a big group and the waitress never mentioned they added the gratuity and we tipped accidentally on top. Inexcusable for restaurants to do this. The place has a good beer selection but the food is not great.
I wanted to buy a beer glass but the server wouldn't let me, won't be coming back. I really don't like this restaurant. The server was extremely rude. Absolutely terrible in every way. Complete waste of time to come here. The food isn't that great. The beer is ok but I can have a better selection at LCBO. I don't know why anyone would waste their time coming here. I support local business but not this one.
Was here with large party and sadly will not come back again. Restaurant seems to go into shut down mode after 10PM on weekends and not to mention they take away menus and serve bills without asking. Generic pub food.
QUALITY CONCERN. Stopped in here for a pint. The staff was very kind. It was disappointing to see the bar tender pull out an old half filled glass from the fridge and top it up with fresh beer.
When you order a nice German pint, it should be fresh from the tap!
Awesome bartender and I love their beer. I love to sit and enjoy my beer and watch tv there and their food is pretty delicious. I recommend this place to almost all my friends when we are going out.
Foods were over cooked, chicken and chips were fried in dark brown color, horrible taste. The waiter was inattentive and inhospitable, or even rude. Will never come back anymore.
This was my first time at Hungry Brew Hops and I was impressed. There was an excellent selection to choose from and the staff was very knowledgeable about the food. The food itself was excellent, and the portions were great and priced just right. I would highly reccomend my friends go.
Really disappointed with a my double patties burger, extremely over cooked, dry and flavourless, cheese completely melted to burn! Cauliflower beer batter fitters were nice!
Recommended by friends. Good place to eat if you like busy places. Been here twice and both times very busy. Food is great, it took a while to get it but understandable.
