Huong's Vietnamese Bistro

The price is cheaper than other Vietnamese restaurants but the food quality is still good. I will come back here many times to explore more dishes on the menu.

Very light broth with good quality meat toppings. The vegetarian pho is quite plain and not really worth getting. The wonton soup however is great.

Great authentic VN food (the special, hand written, daily menu is in vietnamese and chinese, in addition to the standard menu), clean facility, friendly staff. The dining area is typical asian resto, not cozy or fancy, but clean and functional. Reasonable prices.

The price of the dishes on the bill was higher than the price on the menu. The boss said that it was wrongly marked on the menu and asked me to pay more.fraud!

Favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Ottawa. I always come back for the bánh xèo (savoury pancakes) and the fried shrimp cakes. Menu on the wall has home-cooked meals!

Hands down the most underrated, and my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Canada. The food is fresh, delicious and an amazing value and the service is always friendly and warm. Their prices and portion for the food has remained and is sooooo affordable and cheap, I honestly. You can still grab mains for around $10-12 and the portion sizes are similar to mediums at other restaurants at prices for 30-40% less.

Tried pretty much everything on their menu and this is what it's supposed to taste like, so freaking good and authentic. Love it!

Très bon restaurant authentique vietnamien (je suis d'origine vietnamienne ayant grandi au Vietnam). Sans prétention. Service rapide impeccable. Les portions sont tout à fait généreuses pour le prix! La sauce du chowmein (nouilles croustillantes) est quelque peu fade. Le pho est très bon, bouillon clair bien équilibré au goût, légèrement sucré (il y a du monde qui aiment ça d'autres moins). Le poulet grillé à la citronnelle est délicieux, explosion de goûts dans la bouche! Le milkshake à la mangue est excellent aussi.
Le restaurant était quasi plein un dimanche midi et beaucoup de clients Viet, ce qui est un très bon signe!

Randomly stopped by, and glad I did! Portions are pretty much the same as other nearby Vietnamese restaurants, but the prices are definitely more affordable. They offer 3 sizes for their noodle soups, with the smallest being ~$10. That’s hard to come by, especially with the quality that they offer! I find that a lot of restaurants cut corners by providing old and wilted mint and sprouts, but not this place! Honestly this might be one of the only places in Ottawa that gives you the fresh stuff. Check it out!

Everybody recommends the Green Papaya salad. I dislike papaya but loved this dish.

This is the smokiest (they literally burn incense but it's also the vibe), most old hat-feeling Vietnamese place that we go to consistently.

If you or your dining partner don't speak Vietnamese or Chinese you probably have never been here. But if you are cool and go anyway, you will find the staff to be *nicer and more attentive* than most places like this, and importantly, willing to explain the menu to you.

That's important because they have some rare menu options you won't see even at the manifold viet places in Ottawa. There's a menu on the wall that's not in English. Ask them about it if you want to get unique stuff. The pricing is also highly competitive.

It's obvious that they have multigenerational sets of regulars. Don't go there with your own pretensions of what the food or service should be like. Just take it in, enjoy, and feel privileged to be included.

Key menu recommendations:
- anything on the wall you probably can't read
- appetizers especially the fried rice cake
- soups with pickled ingredients or "bad parts" like pork feet

The pho was delicious but you don't get much in the bowl besides the noodles and broth.

I’m glad I visited it today and it already becomes my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Ottawa. I had the Bun Rieu Cua and it’s really delicious. The prices are very affordable compared to other Vietnamese places. I will definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu.

My go to local place for simple, tasty and affordable noodle and rice dishes to go. Very friendly staff, clean and quiet ambiance which is great! Staff always remember my preferences and each dish is explained very well. You can tell they take pride and really appreciate their customers.
