Huronia Urgent Care Clinic

I had high hopes for Huronia Urgent Care Clinic, expecting immediate medical care for non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses. However, it seems that the urgency here only lasts until their daily quota is met, which unfortunately seems to be the norm for most urgent care clinics.
I would like to make a couple of suggestions to the management:

1. Please provide training to your front desk staff on being courteous to visitors. Not everyone understands how urgent care clinics operate. Many people come in with the hope of avoiding long waits at the RVH's ER. A friendly and informative approach can go a long way in managing expectations.

2. It would be helpful to have a banner on your website and at the front door notifying when you've reached your daily quota for walk-ins. This would save people the disappointment and inconvenience of making the trip, especially for older individuals.

While I understand the challenges of managing patient flow, better communication and customer service could greatly improve the overall experience at your clinic.

Don’t even bother trying to get an appointment online. They have you doing your own triage and answering questions that should be THEIR JOB that THEY ARE PAID FOR and make it impossible to get an appointment time.

The nurses and doctors here are always so lovely and kind! I've never had a negative experience. I highly recommend pre-booking an appointment on their website to avoid the wait times.

Love the place and its an epic and commemorable clinic! I do have one important note that should probably be addressed is that there is absolutely no way of reaching someone by phone. I needed to follow up on my wsib form not being submitted and it was urgent and important. This needs to be fixed. The phone number is almost useless except for declaring the hours of operation. Website never seems to have appointments same day and states walk ins only. You get to the clinic at least 4 hrs before they close and get told they are at full capacity without even asking what the issue is or any offer of advice. I do give them props for making the lady ahead to put on a mask for good reasons.how nice she got an spot (she wasn't able to book on the website either) over someone with a sight/eye issue.

Very fast and efficient service! A wonderful group of people who work there. Everyone is so easy to deal with. Definitely recommend when you have to wait weeks to see your own family doctor!

The Team at the clinic is very professional and supportive. My daughter has extreme anxiety issues and they made her feel extremely comfortable. They were able to address her issues and support for her next visit. Thank you for everything you do, for everyone!:)

The staff were absolutely lovely. The receptionist was compassionate and yet efficient. I had an issue that was completely non-standard and the nurse and doctor were both fantastic.
I am very grateful for the service I got at this clinic. Thank you

Ok so, online system is useless…don’t bother using it and please get rid of it.

Second, I was having severe pain in my ear and after being told that you cannot take me by someone incredibly rude, I decided to walk in because I was in incredible pain. Btw your phone system……USELESS BEYOND USELESS.

Best decision, talked to a normal person at the desk and they understood my pain. Let me wait and I was in. Doctor saw it and fixed my issue with a little laugh at the end. Great work. 5 stars despite my initial encounter because someone with a little common sense solved my issue.

Cheers and learn from this review please……stop being robots in there.

Went today at 5pm to find out they closed to walkin appts 2 hours before they close due to high volume. There was 2 people in the waiting room. With 2 hours to go until closing

First of I try booking an appointment online and cannot get any. Decided to go in. Got there at 4pm with sharp pain in my shoulder. I explained to them I have been trying to book an appointment but cannot get through. They told me they have reached their capacity and cannot see me (unreal). They love using those words because I see it in a lot of other reviews. I counted 10 people in the waiting room and they close at 7pm. So 3 hour window and they cannot take a patient. Please avoid this place. Worst walk in clinic in Barrie

My comment is about the online reservation system. It is not good at all. At 6 am (when the appointment times are released for the day), I clicked to reserve a timeslot. By the time I filled in the 12+ fields of information required, that timeslot was gone. Rinse repeat until no time slots left. Very frustrating!
Later I drove 35 min to try to get a walk-in appointment and none of those were left either. Brutal!

Staff at front desk are disgustingly rude for no purpose. Appointment is always booked in advance online & yet they have no friendliness or respect towards anyone. It’s so sad.

If you require immediate medical attention, do not go here. Despite calling themselves urgent care, you need to have an appointment. Went in with sharp pain in my lower abdomen at 10am and was offered a 4pm appointment. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

We went with my son with a fever of 39.5 and they did not want to take care of him because it is by appointment or he will come back tomorrow, terrible service! I do not recommend going! Waste of time I had to go to the hospital. Very angry with the receptionist who did not answer my questions, a horrible place!

Clinic is fine but the recently made it mandatory to pay for parking and only except a line of credit I would understand if they let you pay cash or debit but this is a disgusting use of our tax dollars to pay some guy to ticket us at the clinic where it's conveniently set up so not everyone can use the ticket terminals. Horrible service, reception has no idea what they're doing needed to get stitches and sent to Prince William Family Health, got there and they only are seeing Cold and Covid cases, now off to Bell Farm. Our Healthcare is disgraceful

I just got back from Cuba on Saturday With over 200 bug bites I went to this clinic to get assessed but due to me losing my voice from partying too much I was turned away (by the receptionist with the long pink nails, not even the doctor) while wearing a mask. Accused of having a bacterial infection. No clinic can turn away patients. Especially urgent care ones.
I Was later assessed at Grove Street clinic and they were a great help. No wonder this place has such a low rating.

In September of 2021 I went to the Huronia Urgent Care Clinic with a rash in the groin/hip area, swollen lymph nodes and back pain. Dr. Wolnik said the rash was a "mystery" and proceeded to give me an antifungal cream, in case it was "jock itch", even though the rash was painless and not itchy. Almost a year later and a slew of other health issues which have cropped up, I now have late stage Lyme Disease. Dr. Wolnik misdiagnosed a tick bite rash for jock itch. I would have needed a simple two course week of antibiotics and I would have been fine. Now I have neurological symptoms, lyme arthritis and more. I had gone several times to Huronia Urgent Care over the course of Sept/Oct 2021. Not one Doctor there was able to diagnose me. Dr. Wilson was one of the other doctors I saw. In response to my rash (which was slowly fading as most tick bite rashes do), my joint pain and lymph node swelling in that area was "nothing to worry about" according to Dr. Paul Wilson, and instead he asked the clinic physiotherapist to examine me. I was told to do physiotherapy.
All in all, I had seen 10 doctors in one year, including 3 ER doctors. All of my visits were a result of Lyme Disease. Not one was able to diagnose me. In addition to the initial misdiagnosis of the rash, I was told I had shingles, kidney stones, strained muscles and anxiety. Finally a few weeks ago, I went to a brilliant doctor outside of the area who put all the pieces together and sent me for the Lyme blood test which came back positive. If only the initial doctors, specifically Dr. Wolnik, would have diagnosed me properly, I would be fine right now. Now my symptoms may be lifelong. Lyme disease is very common right here in our community. The healthcare profession is ignorant of this disease and it's signs.

Such a pleasant experience at the clinic. I walked in and felt welcomed immediately. The staff is so kind and helpful.

Horrible clinic, such rude staff, NOT organized what so ever if you book an appointment make sure you have time at least an hour after your time slot because it doesn’t matter to them if you booked one. VERY VERY rude

Went there. The waiting room was all empty but still they didn’t take without an appointment next day. Did not look busy at all. They should change their name from Walk-in Clinic to Appointment Only Clinic.

Very happy with my son’s recent visit to Huronia. There were many people ahead of him but he saw the doctor and was out the door with a prescription within 2 hours. Front clerical staff was friendly, Dr. Wolnick was great!

Can't walk in anymore, so had to wait a day to book online. Bookings are full by 8am so had to wake up before 7 to make one. I have an ear infection with a cough, and I tell them that and they won't see me, saying they don't assess that (I have a cough), even though ear infections were on the online drop down. I would have been better served going to the hospital and waiting a few hours

I made an appointment and I was in and out in less than an hour with my prescription.

I do wish they would open more appointment spots, I woke up at 6 am to ensure I was able to get a spot. It is a very busy clinic though, so I get it.

I booked an appointment for 9 am on Saturday, at the reception the nurse sent me to the back of the line, they told me that online appointment does not means nothing, only a live queue. So what a point to book the appointment if it doesn’t work?

I did book an appointment for one of my staff to make sure that staff will be able to start shift in time.
For us it is very crucial because we work with autistic kids and all of them require constant supervision.
Staff could not get in time how it was booked, Because apparently appointment does not mean anything. You not going to be accepted on your appointment time. No body cares about it.
If you will call and ask them how it supposed to work they going to be not nice, it was very mean conversation.
It should not be like that, I know I also work my 12 hours shifts with clients it is not easy but if you agree to do this job do it good.
For me it is huge disappointment, I started my shift at 6 am to book that appointment and to make sure that I secure day with enough staff on the floor but seams it not going to happened.

Needed stitches yesterday. We walked in, but had to make an appointment for later in the day, which was fine because it would have been a longer wait at the ER. Went back for my appointment and was seen and treated within half an hour. Very nice staff and gentle doctor.

Horrible doctors. They schedule you in and then don't want to do their job and tell you to go to a family doctor. What if you don't have a family doctor? Once they swipe your health card and get paid they are no longer interested in helping anyone. If you care for yourself or your family go to another clinic. Avoid this place! Doesn't deserve 1 star.

Always quickest service in town and by far the friendliest staff around! Very clean and well kept, dr Fryday was absolutely perfect!

Walked in to the walk-in-clinic and was told they're not taking walk ins. Was about 8 people in the waiting room didn't look busy but was still told I needed an appointment. The receptionist told me to either head to prince william way or wellington. Well, the prince william way location is closed and the wellington location isn't taking walk-ins either.such a waste of time because of this false information.

Best customer service I have ever had compared to other walk in clinics. The receptionist is super friendly. Doctors and nurses are very nice as well. I came here twice and had good experience.

“URGENT CARE” is just the name. There’s nothing Urgent about this place and they don’t see everyone. They pick and choose.

I have a really hard time seeing doctors as I have medical trauma in my past so when I went here feeling anxious and nervous I was met with a team of compassionate, patient female health professionals that did their best to ensure I was comfortable and felt safe. The med student Doctors that I met while I was panicking were so kind and I could tell how much they cared about me and how I was feeling, one even offered to hold my hand which was so sweet and comforting. After having a terrible experience earlier the same day at Wellington clinic, I felt really safe and cared for at this clinic with these wonderful women. One med student in particular even talked to me about my tattoos and other things to calm me down and I can’t tell you how much of a difference this made for me during my visit. Emotional part aside, the whole team was quick and efficient and I was in and out in an hour and a bit. I felt heard and like I was part of the conversation. I will definitely be coming back here in the future and recommend you do too. Thanks to everyone that made an uncomfortable visit way easier today!

I was very happy today with the service offered at this Urgent Care Clinic. I was seen and treated in less than 1.5 hours by Dr. Friday which is unheard of. Dr. Friday is a great Physician who is very knowledgeable, caring, and personable. Hopefully I will not need to come back any time soon but if I ever need urgent care again I will most certainly be coming back to this Urgent Care Clinic.

I made a appointment today, shortness of breath and sore throat. Got called back they cancelled my appointment. Reason they wont see me because they don't treat people with cold or flu. I do not have either, so what is the real reason? Told me to go elsewhere, nice place, so much for being a after hour clinic no wonder you get bad reviews.

Helpful staff but seems like there is a staffing shortage as the wait time was exorbitant for a 5 mins time with the doctor.
I had to wait for ~1.5 hours.
