My experience at the clinic and what transpired as a result of my Aug 20th visit, has left me with a devastating loss and regret that I will never be able to able to shake off. My dog Nora had been given an anti-nausea injection during our visit and 24 hours later I found her unresponsive at home. She had passed away. After a discussion with my regular vet, I was told this injection is used often, but always under the supervision of a doctor, meaning the dog stays over night at the clinic for observation. I was never advised to leave Nora over night. I was told she could go home because her vitals, lab work and physical exam all were normal, aside from mild dehydration. Protocols were not followed to ensure a positive outcome. Because her blood work was within normal limits aside from dehydration, this would mean that the lethal injection was the direct cause of death. This is what the manufacturer website also noted - if blood work shows up as normal, the medication is most likely the cause, especially when there is not other health issues present. I felt sick and just completely broken hearing this. My beautiful, healthy girl was gone, because precautionary measures, such as an overnight observation, was not insisted upon. I was twelve hours of wait time and a lot of money in at that point. If I was told it’s best for Nora to be admitted overnight for observation, I would have been more than happy to follow that advice. So my warning is to question EVERYTHING. Push for answers and don’t just accept anything at face value. If I did, I would still have my sweet girl with me. I should not be even thinking this or blaming myself, as I paid a substantial fee for someone’s expertise and guidance. I was robbed off my time with her. I also need to comment on the rudeness and poor attitude of the staff when they were told that Nora died after our visit. They tried to hide what injection she had been given, by not only NOT disclosing it on the invoice (everything else was itemized by exact name), but also being evasive when questioned on the phone. There was not even a phone call from the vet offering her condolences and sympathies that this is how my visit turned out. I understand the clinic is always busy. But you are looking after our pets, who are OUR family. Stopping for a moment and being a decent human being does not take much time or effort. But it’s greatly appreciated during such a tragic time. I will never use the services of this clinic again.

I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Huronia VEC for the exceptional care provided to my little chi during her recent emergency. From the front desk staff to the vet techs, assistants, and the dedicated vets, your team exemplifies kindness, compassion, and respect.

My chi underwent a challenging 3-day hospital stay due to kidney failure, and throughout this difficult time, every member of your team played a crucial role in her care. I appreciate the many hands and eyes that watched over her, ensuring she received the best possible attention.

The vets were not only clear and concise in explaining her condition, but they also took the time to answer all of my questions with patience and respect. Your collective commitment to providing exceptional service in times of distress has left me with nothing but good things to say about Huronia VEC.

Thank you all for your dedication, expertise, and compassion. Jonathan, Rosie sends her love xo

We were in yesterday with our foster dog Cooper. From the minute we walked in the door we felt that everyone cared. The receptionist was outstanding and I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. She was run off her feet and still remained composed and empathetic to everyone who came in or called, very impressive. I believe she is right where she is supposed to be. There was a wait but we understand they have to take serious issues first of course so that actually made me feel better that Cooper wasn’t a full on emergency. When the vet tech came out and took us to the room she (again, sorry I don't recall her name, I was feeling anxious) was wonderful, very patient and listened with intent. Shortly after that the vet came in and was just as wonderful. We felt more at ease and all was explained. We did not feel rushed at all. Everyone loved Cooper and everyone was kind and empathetic to us. Overall, if you have to go there, it was a very good experience. We are grateful to all of you for what you do, I’m only sorry it’s so busy, that makes me sad.

On the night of Monday December 18,2023, we sadly said good bye to our elderly dog (Rusty). Rusty's last 20 minutes were spent at Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic as we rushed him there as an emergency. Within a minute we were surrounded by approx 5 staff members, who tried their very best to save Rusty, but unfortunately it was his time to go. All of the staff at Huronia Vets were amazing and could not have been more professional, caring and sympathetic. Huronia Vets's, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your care and compassion in Rusty's last minutes. You guys have a tough job, but you acted as true professionals. THANK YOU!

My family and I had to bring our beloved dog to Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our girl as she crossed the rainbow bridge to heaven. The staff at this clinic were so respectful, compassionate and accommodating. From the secretary to triage to the veterinarian and everyone in between.they made us feel very comfortable. Thank you so much!

Front desk receptionist has no compassion, maybe train your staff to not loudly speak about their disdain for certain types of animals when owners of said animals are directly in front of them.

Great place was there today helped us a lot for our dog blue thank u so much appreciate what u did
03 September 2023 12:06
Somehow would've cost me $1000 for the EXACT same treatment my cat had had 6 months prior which cost $450 at the SAME clinic.
Instead, I got to pay $500 for a dead cat. It wasn't even after hours.
I'm disgusted and hurt that these "animal lovers" can prey on people's vulnerability and desperation.
Our pets deserve better.

We had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Pistachio this week. An absolutely heartbreaking experience. The people and environment, at Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic made this horrible time, a little less so. They were kind and patient with us, explained everything and gave us the time we needed.
07 August 2023 7:01
Brought our little puppy Eddie there on Saturday night, staff was so good with him very friendly and absolutely amazing care! Thank you so much again ️
06 August 2023 6:54
My mom took our cat Lee in last night and he’s taken a total 180 and he’s feeling a hell of a lot better, my only complaint is the cost … $

$210+tax just to get him seen.

We couldn’t afford the treatment but whatever they ended up doing to him made him feel much, much better. We thought he was on his death bed
28 July 2023 18:43
Our kitty suddenly became very ill and the clinic took us in as quickly as they could. From the time we arrived until we had to say goodbye to our much loved family pet we experienced nothing but kindness and understanding. Thank you for making such a terrible situation bearable.
01 June 2023 15:38
We came in over the weekend with a quill face situation. The staff was an absolute pleasure from the time of calling in until we left. They were reasonable and handled our dog with love and gave him the attention he needed. Though I don't want to have to take our dog back here (fingers crossed) it's relieving to know if we do have to, he is in great hands.
31 May 2023 5:25
My cat had had a very bad seizure and we rushed her in. From the moment we entered the building they were attentive and quick with tending to us. Both the vet techs and veterinarian (Dr. Trish Wendell) were so sweet and gentle with my baby girl and genuinely dedicated to her well-being. They helped alleviate my anxiety and talked through a plan, with absolutely no pressure to pay for more services if I felt they were needed. Overall an excellent experience. If we are ever unfortunately in an emergency with my cats I at least know there's a team I can rely on.

We recently lost or fur baby jazzy about 2 weeks ago. We had to bring her in to the emergency vet. She was 12, had cancer and could not walk. She was in a lot of pain and her health had deteriorated very quickly in 2 days. Jazzy was my best friend. The team here made her passing less painful. They were extremely kind, extremely gentle, they made her feel so comfortable and gave us all the time in the world that we needed. They made a horrible situation of losing a family member bearable. Every little thing they did was noticed and we are so great full to them for how they were with my baby. They gave us an ink paw pro d and made sure she was tucked in and comfy when they brought her out so we could take her to be laid to rest. Thank you for all you do and I can’t imagine how hard it must be to watch people lose the such a big part of themselves. You are truly angels in a dark time.
27 March 2023 21:45
I brought my hedgehog here for a euthanasia during the night. The man on receptionist this night was so kind and caring towards me and overall made this sad night so much more comforting which I appreciate highly during one of the toughest moments. Thank you so much.
20 February 2023 14:26
My cat Marvin was recently treated. It is difficult as a pawparent to have a pet in the hospital, especially when we are still in a pandemic. Despite this, I knew he was in good hands his entire visit. The entire team was compassionate and professional. Thank you for taking such good care of Marvin.
14 February 2023 21:37
I was faced with 2 recent emergencies within 10 days apart with 2 separate pups. I must say this Emergency Clinic handled both emergencies with professionalism, knowledge and compassion. As a mom of 4 frech bulldogs, we are always concerned of who cares our babies. Thank you for everything you did for our babies and family.facing an emergency
06 February 2023 11:19
Thank you for working hard and looking after our little one. You guys do great things looking after pets in emergency situations. Appreciate you all.
28 January 2023 18:23
Our pup Fionn became violently ill Friday night. We thought he got into antifreeze as we had a spill fixing our tractor. We thought we had it all up but we were wrong. After consulting our Vet we jumped in the car & drove to Barrie. This type of poison can be lethal. Everyone was amazing, compassionate & looked after our boy. Fortunately he his tox screens were negative. Thank you to everyone. You are amazing
20 January 2023 2:27
My husband and I had an excellent experience at Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Our poor dog, Tyson, became suddenly ill on Saturday and was not getting better. This was unexpected and sudden. We brought him into the clinic on Monday. They welcomed Tyson warmly and with such gentle care. Each time we phoned, the staff were extremely compassionate and quick to provide a detailed update on our little boy. I never felt like a bother.

We got the sad news that our baby would not make it (kidney failure and many other complications). Dr. Lutman was very straight forward and honest with the blood work results. She explained the results to us in great detail and took her time explaining everything to us. In the evening, a different vet switched over to care for our boy. This vet was excellent in discussing Tyson's current health status and was very respectful, honest, and compassionate during the entire decision making process.

When the moment came, she was extremely detailed, clam, respectful, peaceful and supportive during the entire process. She walked us through step by step. We felt so comfortable and well taken care of by the staff.

I 100% trust this staff. They made this heart-breaking process less stressful. All I can truly say is they are extremely professional, empathetic, understanding, and comforting. When it came time for payment, they provided options and were very gentle and understanding with their approach. We felt like Tyson was is the best hands possible during the final moments of his life.

Thank you so much for helping us transition our baby boy to after life. He is peacefully over the rainbow.

Our sweet Lily got away from our neighbour when she was on a leashed walk and ran into traffic. She was hit by a car and rushed to your clinic. Dr. Amy Jackson and the team took exemplary care of her. While consulting with us and explaining options, they did testing to determine injuries in increments, rather taking unnecessary steps. This saved us money amd reassured us that Lily's well-being was the priority. We were able to take her home last night and we are so grateful for your expertise. Thank you so much! The Hipwell- Ervin Family

Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful.
The facility itself was really clean and tidy and the doctor that saw our cat was simply fantastic.
25 March 2022 12:47
Thank you SO much for trusting me! See you before noon on Thursday, Jan. 27/22. I highly recommend your clinic, where I brought my Kita in July/20. Where would pet lovers/parents be without you? ! Sammy is glad to be home and feeling SO much better. As do I! Blessings to you all for your expertise, care and understanding. Your staff puts kindness back into 'human. '

DO NOT RECOMMEND!

My Girlfriend rushed our 5 year old tabby to the clinic, Diagnosed him with Crystals in his urine on New Years Eve 2021. Drove 2 1/2 hours to get to the clinic. Gave medications, and followed directions from vet and he passed away a week later. The one thing that makes me mad is that the vet tech that handed our cat back to my girlfriend did not give her the after care instructions for our cat. I didnt even want to give a star because quite frankly, they do not deserve any stars.
18 February 2022 2:23
I don’t even have words to describe how horrible this emergency clinic is. Given the fact that someone would only go to this clinic for a emergency, you would think they would be understanding of your emotions with whatever is happening with your pet. Instead, they only care about payments rather than the care of your pet. My pet needed emergency surgery, having gone back and forth with them to finally agree on the surgery and the agreed estimate. Once I gave them the ok for the surgery they than changed the estimate to almost double and required a deposit of my original quote. Completely unacceptable. All said and done, I called my original vet to see if they could preform the surgery- they said yes. My dog was still there and I just wanted to rush her out to get her into surgery. They couldn’t understand that and would NOT give me my dog until I paid for her blood work and X-ray even though I would pay as soon as I got my dog into her surgery. No sympathy whatsoever. Will never bring my dogs here ever again. Completely disappointing.
02 February 2022 19:09
Will never recommend this vet to ANYONE. I called them today to inform them about a cat that got hit by a car they told me to call the city of Barrie. (I should mention I am the second person who called about this with no help from them) the city of Barrie won’t pick up the cat until 8: 30.the cat is severely bleeding, and because I do not have the money to help this poor kitty they refuse to do anything for the poor animal.this place is absolutely despicable to allow an innocent stray cat who was possibly hit by a car and may pass away due to blood loss because the woman who found the kitten can not afford it. I have the whole conversation recorded if there is any dispute about my comment. However I will NEVER use this horrible place again and I recommend you find a place with more compassion.
31 January 2022 13:17
I went in last night with my dog her eye had ulcerated and needed to be removed.thank you to everyone there for taking suck good care of Luna.
26 January 2022 14:30
We brought our cat here late at night when he was unable to urinate anything except for small drops of blood. He was stable, so he was lower on the priority list but the staff made sure that he was taken care of in a time efficient manner. The dr was unable to get a urine sample as our cat managed to pass some urine on his own- so we were instructed to bring back a sample of urine. Even though they were extremely busy we felt like we were still a priority and they promptly tested the sample and were able to clearly and efficiently communicate the problem. Bear and I can’t thank the kind, knowledgeable staff we dealt with enough for their help!
24 January 2022 7:01
I would like to Thank Huronia Veterinary Clinic for the outstanding service on Sunday Jan 9th 2022. The compassion and professionalism of Dr Jennifer Parker helped ease the stressful decision we had to make with our beloved dog Maya. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Disher family.
24 January 2022 6:28
Found a cat in the sidewalk by my house, appeared to have ingested something. When calling they told me it was animal control and did not offer the emergent care this cat needed. Brought the cat to the hospital and informed the staff I wasn’t sure if the cat made it or not but wanted to bring it in to confirm and get checked for a chip, they did not want to provide care and told us to bring it elsewhere. Brought to another hospital and the cat still had a heart beat. Due to the lack of compassion they had this cats urgent care needs were delayed. They were more concerned about body disposal then checking the cats condition and for the cats owners. Extremely disappointed.
21 January 2022 23:33
Impressed with the care my kitty received today. Thorough, compassionate and understanding. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. Cost not exorbitant considering they provide 24/7 emergency care. Jax and I are grateful!
03 January 2022 10:01
A client's pet was injured and received out of hours emergency care. Grateful for an emergency clinic serving pet owners.
02 December 2021 16:00
Wow they help with everything appointments on the day so caring. Its alittle pricey but for a on the dot appointment its fair price.
12 November 2021 11:55
So good to know that we have such an excellent emergency care facility close by. This morning our dog met a van on the road and he lost. They were thorough in their examination, kept me well Informed in the parking lot throughout their triage, investigation and diagnosis. The doctor and staff were very attentive, understood my crazies and now we have our puppy at home. He will be sore and has some healing to do but I was also assured that if I had any questions, concerns or issues they would be there for us. Thank you.
11 November 2021 1:31
Great care while you're pet is in house. The price was high but I wanted great care. I called with questions after I picked up my cat and felt judged and offered zero assistance.
31 October 2021 18:49
So helpful when I called on a Sunday with a question even though they are not my regular vet, as I have a pet turtle. So thankful they were there when I needed them!
30 October 2021 13:00
The care seemed good and the get was polite and informative however be aware of the adding items to your bill that they never discussed. When the vet mentioned my dog could benefit from gastro dog food, I told him we could get that in the morning at our local get as we already get some there, he responded well we will put in a couple of cans. The way he made it sound is that it wasn't going to cost anything. Then he talked about giving the dog two injections and sending her home with a pain med tp which we agreed to. However when we went to pay and saw the bag of medication I 8nqiired what it was in the bag and the vet tech told us it was a prebiotic 13.00 some medication for her stomach 50.00 amd the pain med which I agreed to oh and those two cans of dog food that I told him we could get from our own vet were 14.50. Just need aware this vet is already at least double then other places and triple for some things but then to add to our bill like that was maddening.
22 October 2021 20:16
I brought my 17 year old cat there the first week of September and I ended up having to put her down. The Veterinary technician charged us then told us "Have a nice night! " while I was in tears. Like I was checking out at a grocery store or getting food to take out. Maybe say something like "I am so sorry for your loss". I only put the extra star because of the other Vet Tech (who was compassionate) and the veterinarian was very nice as well. I just lost a part of my family, maybe teach your staff some people skills.
09 October 2021 23:31
Thank you very much for your care and help to my cat Busa! We were in a panic.dont know where to go and what to do.so glad that at 5am i found your site and phone number! Once again thanks! THANKS FOR ACCEPTING US AT SHORT NOTICE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM! THANKS THANKS THANKS!
28 September 2021 23:48
Had an emergency with our 12 year old baby girl carin terrier Poppy. She ended up having open pyometra which required immediate surgery. I can't even put into words the extreme amount of caring and compassion from ALL of the staff. Never felt so looked after before! We knew she was in tremendous hands with the staff of Huronia! Poppy is now home and on the mend. From Poppy and us a huge thank you to all of you it was a major emotional event for us and you had us more at ease throughout this time. You will never be forgotten thank you again so much for you care of our little girl!
23 September 2021 8:51
They were absolutely great with me and my dog after she was hit by a truck. They are kind, professional, reasonably-priced and took excellent care of my girl.
05 September 2021 11:30
I brought my cat there for ingesting a toxin. He spent 56h there on IV fluids and I paid just roughly $1700. I know that this is an emergency clinic and prices are higher for that reason. While he was there the techs and reception that I spoke to were friendly and got back to me in a timely manner with the information I needed. I felt he was in good care while he was there. I give this a 2 star review however because of the communication at the end of his stay. My cat had his catheter in his arm his whole stay and when they removed it they wrapped it with gauze and vet wrap and wrote a note onto the bandage that told me to take it off at a certain time. No one informed me of this note and the time they wanted me to remove it was 10 minutes after picking him up. Being the only emergency vet in covering a very large area, they absolutely know that people are rarely coming from 10 minutes away. I did not get home for about an hour and 40 minutes so my cats tightly wrapped up leg was ballooned from the foot up to the start of the bandage, and very tender. Simply telling me there was a bandage on his leg would have avoided this entirely but instead a hand written note, on a bandage, on the leg of my cat, in his cat carrier is what I got. I called to talk to someone about it and they told me the swelling should go down in a few hours but that if it didn’t I should call them back. When I spoke about the ineffective communication of notes written on bandages the woman, who was entirely polite, simply told me she’d pass the information along, no apology. I felt fine about him being there until this happened. I’m sure the care he received while there was fine and it’s a shame to have to complain when I bet there were employees there that did their jobs exceptionally… but to miss something like this at the end is unprofessional and could have done more damage to my cat. And to offer no admission of fault or offer a simple, ‘I’m sorry that happened’ is beyond frustrating after the stress of everything, including financially. I guess just ask questions, keep informed, and advocate for your pet to make sure nothing slips between the cracks.
28 August 2021 22:18
We were concerned about our dog on a Sunday and wanted to get him some medication. Big Bay Animal Hospital recommended contacting this place after hours. Don't believe their recorded message and don't waste your time going to Huronia. They have no regard for your pet and will just tell you to wait to see your own vet. They did recommend Smart. Vet which is another online scam that just takes your money. They give you advise when you pay in advance but there is no follow up and no way to get their prescription filled. Huronia told us they don't dispense medications. Yes a hospital without medications! Don't waste your time. You are much better off waiting to see your own vet if you are fortunate enough to have a good one.
20 August 2021 10:32
My smooth collie got hit by a porcupine and my regular vet was not available so we drove up to Huronia. They were very helpful and took her in right away. I'm grateful they were able treat her quickly and it was the same price I would have paid at my regular vet. I recommend them.
17 August 2021 23:26
We were on vacation and our dog came down with symptoms that worried me.
They were open early, were prompt and efficient to collect all of his info and get us booked in for an appointment.

The vet was so wonderful! Kind, compassionate, friendly and not pushy at all. She gave us options and let us make our own decisions.
03 August 2021 2:15
The worst place to take your loved pet to. I cannot even give a worst rating. We took our dog there as an emergency case, not only did they minimize it injuries, but mis-diagnosed it.

But it doesn’t end there…. They proceeded to “Blacklist” us to other vets, because we refused to let those incompetent hacks take care of a loved family member.

We went to another vet that informed us of our visit to Huronia’s and their “notes”.

Thank god the vet we took him too ignored the ignorant hacks at Huronia and saved our pet.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THE HURIONIA HACKS!
01 August 2021 3:22
The doctor himself was nothing but lovely apologized for the long wait time was Very personable and helpful. The company’s motto is “critical care, comfort and compassion when it matter the most”. Angela however, did not embody this at all. She was nothing but condescending and full of attitude. Even when she was in the wrong saying they don’t take patients leashes and was so full of attitude telling me to go back and check my car and demanding directions from me when they had it the whole time. For someone working in an environment of emergent of people’s loved ones I would suggest you get an attitude adjustment.

1 year ago today, my cat was admitted to HVEC, having just been diagnosed with a life-threatening autoimmune disease. The staff were all caring and compassionate, and the vet on duty did an excellent job explaining the treatment plan and its associated risks. Through their care, my cat was stabilized overnight and improved so much that I was able to take him home to continue his treatment. Today my cat is alive and thriving, and his condition is well controlled. I'm so grateful for the expert care they provided!
21 September 2020 17:41
We just brought our dog home after nearly two days at Huronia and are so grateful to them. He had an obstruction and, thankfully, it seems he was able to pass it without surgery. Every single person we dealt with was so kind and professional. They provided us with updates every few hours and explained things thoroughly. Special mentions go to Sylvia, Phoebe, and Dr. Lutman.

Was it expensive? Yes. Because dogs are expensive and you pay more for a clinic that is open 24 hours a day and willing to call you at 3am to tell you how your dog is doing. But they gave us the price upfront and there were no surprises.

Thank you so much for taking care of our boy. We are so thrilled to have him home with us.
24 August 2020 11:46
Our little shorkie ate a grape off of the floor and luckily we just saw her in time to swallow it. We knew grapes can be dangerous for dogs but one of the kids just dropped one and she grabbed it. It was a Saturday at 5 pm and we were at the cottage, so not sure where to take her. We called them and they were very responsive, telling us exactly what we needed to do. We brought her in right away. They took her in quickly and during this pandemic they had a very efficient and safe procedure. The staff we dealt with were all friendly and attentive and the veterinarian explained everything over the phone. I was impressed with how quickly they responded and long story short, they got the grape out basically intact and our baby is doing great! Thank you to the veterinarian and the vet techs who helped her. We would definitely recommend Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic.
22 April 2020 4:54
They took very good care of my companion. The vet Matt was very informative of my dog Coopers condition. All the staff were very friendly. Clean. And to the nitty gritty, they don't completely gouge your pocket. Nor do they make you feel like your not a good pet owner.
18 April 2020 16:30
I attended the office on Sunday and it was very busy with a long wait. I think people need to be more considerate to the fact of, while you are there with your sick furbaby and very stressed, there are others that are sicker and graver and yours, so you will be triaged accordingly. This clinic is in high demand outside of normal veterinary hours and servicing a large area, so bring your patience and maybe some gratitude. I found the staff all very efficient and pleasant. So thank you for being there for me and my pup
10 April 2020 1:34
The staff and Vet at the clinic are amazing - very helpful and most of all compassionate. I had to take my Daisy Rose (a 15 year old Shih Tzu) to the clinic early on a Sunday morning - she was desperately sick with many ailments. Even though we did not have an appointment they treated her immediately. They took us to a private room and explained our options - they put NO pressure on us - they then left us to say our goodbyes to our sweet little Daisy Rose - the hardest thing we have ever had to do! I was able to hold her in my arms right to the end. They then left us to sit in the room for as long as we needed to. Everyone was so kind and it meant so much to us. The bill was reasonable especially being a weekend and for the prompt service we received. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH - WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR ASSISTANCE & KINDNESS.

I brought my dog in last night after she was struck by a vehicle. The staff and vets were extremely helpful and patient with my very scared dog. Thank you!
23 March 2020 23:16
When you have an emergency with a pet, Huronia is the place you hope you can get to. Facility is beautiful, spacious and clean, staff and vets are excellent and they let you know the possible outcomes first, so you can make the best decision.
06 March 2020 0:08
I am so grateful for the care and comfort my cat received in the last hours of his life. Despite being a hectic and probably emotionally draining night for the veterinarian team, they didn't falter in giving us their best care and attention.

The environment was beautiful. The room was like home. I could cuddle my baby on a couch rather than look at him upon a cold metal table. It was the best possible way to say goodbye after 19 years of friendship. These people are incredible for all they do.

It's hard to write this.it's easier now I guess.but at first, this was the closest place I could find that was available.my family dog was sick, and my parents were out of the country in Europe. Her name was Chika. She was a mix between a chihuahua/mini pincher. 13 years old. Once I got in, there was so many questions my head was spinning. Guess they were just trying to do their job. But after doing blood work. I found out she had severe to extreme kidney failure, aperantly had to do with age, and was in suffering, had about a day or so to live.and I knew it was true by looking at her, she was lifeless beyond words. It was honestly an extremely hard desicion to make. I had to do it on my own and what's app video my parents to say goodbye to her.super heartbreaking.but the staff there was extremely amazing. So supportive and understanding. They helped me a great deal. They even sent me a card a while later. I'm very grateful they were understanding and supportive during such a sudden difficult time. It all happened on Oct 1st.but I wont forget the support I got from every single person working at this clinic. Thank you everyone.

This past weekend my puppy got into some over the counter medications. It was a terrifying experience especially after we couldn't get him to throw up. We brought him to Huronia Vet Clinic and Doctor Lutman helped us with our pup. My boy friend doesn't handle stressful situations very well and so wasn't very clear or kind with what he wanted etc.but doctor Lutman didn't miss a beat. She was very clear about what our options for treatment were and if we chose to not follow certain recommendations what the result would be. It was really nice for me because I really wanted to understand what was going on. We ended up having to leave him there for 48 hours (which sucked) but the doctor PERSONALLY called us every morning and evening to give us an update. I really appreciated her approach - remembering ours and our pups name and being calm and clear through the whole process. He is now home and okay - very thankful!

I had to bring my kitten in the other night (thankfully I was worrying over more or less, nothing). The clinic itself is the nicest, cleanest vet clinic I've ever seen. The staff were all incredible, efficient, friendly, and even though my kitten turned out to really not have anything wrong, at no point was I made to feel stupid for bringing her in. The examination and consultation fee was $145 ($163 with tax) and I felt it was entirely reasonable given that it's an emergency vet. I had such a great experience there, I wish they also provided general/family practices! Thanks so much for the compassionate care.

They went to great lengths to provide the care when it came to looking after my baby boy Tobie also when my boy passed away they were over and beyond accommodating when I arrived I was hugged by the lady at the front desk and gave me much-needed time before I had to say my final goodbye they will always and forever have a place in my heart

We brought my dog into the clinic a few weeks ago. He was very ill and the staff made every effort to not only treat him but ensure his comfort. He stayed at the clinic for 3 nights and the staff would always make sure we had a private space to visit with him any time we came in. As I work night shifts, I would call in the middle of the night as any worried pet owner would. The staff were always happy to update me with his status and answer all my questions. Although it was a pricey weekend, thanks the to care he received at the Huronia Emergency Animal Clinic, my dog is home happy and back to his usual self.

I suspected my seven year old Bichon Frise, Rosie, accidentally got into some deadly mouse poison. She was showing mild symptoms on Saturday, Sept. 16th, 2017. However, I suspected she got into this deadly poison a few days earlier but was in denial until the mild symptoms. We rushed her to the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Her vitals were stable and the clinic was crowded so we waited. Later the emergency vet did the appropriate tests and realized the urgency of treatment due to the suspected poisoning. She highly recommended a plasma transfusion which we agreed to. Given Rosie's vital signs at 5: 30 am just after the transfusion, we are fairly certainly she would have died without immediate treatment. In addition the overnight emergency vet did not risk giving Rosie a red blood cell transfusion directly after the plasma trans fusion due to the risks of back to back transfusions. Everything done saved Rosie's life and I am grateful they had all the resources to do this. Here are photos of Rosie taken this afternoon after a home groom on December 23,2017. The money spent to save her life is priceless. We are grateful.

I had to take my 9 week old kitten there. The staff was amazing. They were very caring with Jet and myself. They definately care about the animals. The areas are very clean. Prices were reasonable for an emergency hospital. I would like to thank all of them for taking care of my boy!

I had a great experience here. The staff was lovely and the place was very clean. The vet was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to me and gave us her trustworthy opinion on treatment. Of course it was more expensive than our regular vet but that’s to be expected when going to the emergency vet. I would highly recommend bringing a pet here in emergency situations.

I brought my pet pig in and even though they don’t have very much experience they still took him in. We saw Dr Jingyan Zhang and she was AMAZING. She instantly informed me that she doesn’t work with domestic pigs and doesn’t know a whole lot, but she ended up knowing more than enough to help us out for the night. She even prescribed the exact same medicine that my own vet would have prescribed. She truly seemed to care. I greatly appreciate the help from this animal hospital in a frantic time.

Took our super friendly Aussie here last night with a lesion on his back. The techs were nice and let him snuggle them and give them kissea but for some reason the vet walked in and acted like he was afraid of my dog before even meeting him. He approached my dog with the weirdest body language like he had never been near a dog before! His behaviour and body language made me really nervous for him to handle my dog and to top it all off they didnt tell us how to care for the sore, just stapled him and sent us on our way. Saw another vet today at a different clinic who gave us detailed instructions for how to care for the sore until the staples come out. Wont be returning.

I brought my Australian Shepherd in late at night with major issues, including blocked intestines, and gastric torsion. She was visibly in pain, and uncomfortable. She was suffering from low temperatures, dehydration, diarrhea, vomiting and not eating.
We called at 10pm to make sure we could come in and the receptionist was nothing more then arrogant and rude, I’ve never felt so unwelcome before. When I arrived I was told she was ‘stable’ even though she had collapsed on our way there and was barely showing any signs or herself, she literally was under the bench the entire time (normally she’s cuddling like crazy and kissing everyone she meets). They had us wait 2 hours just to be seen by the vet, for the vet to tell me she was fine. (I understand there are other dogs as well with emergencies but when I’m sitting there waiting, and you push me aside to wait for a dog that isn’t even there something is wrong). I had my friend there for moral support and the vet would only listen to her and not me, even though we clarified I am the owner of the dog. The vet did not even touch my dogs belly which was filled with gas, when we were there and he said there was nothing wrong. He actually blamed it on her being in heat. I breed these dogs under a registered kennel name, and I know for a fact it’s not due to a dogs heat cycle. I insisted he x-ray my dog and look closer and sure enough she was in a critical state. With that care I actually left the hospital and refused to let them take care of her anymore. When I requested my xrays they never sent them and their CD burner was ‘broken’. The next day I went to my vet and we called huronia twice for my xrays and they never sent them.
The biggest waste of money ever. $600 for the vet to not help my dog at all. I did his job for him!

I’m very disappointed in the care provided and the professional quality of their services.
