Hy's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar

Absolutely delicious. Expensive but worth it for an important occasion or celebration. Steak, lobster and chicken were all cooked to perfection. Cheese toast was pretty standard and could've been skipped. Desserts were out of this world.

Beautiful, classy place and delicious food. My husband and I were visiting Toronto and Hy’s has been on our list for a while. Finally got to go and we weren’t disappointed. Large portions, really great food. I got the chicken and my husband got the filet and both were fantastic. The atmosphere and service are both great! Will definitely be coming back when we’re in Toronto and would recommend to others!

True 5 star happy hour experience from Frank (aka Nicholas). Lobster Cobb and Bacon Scallops pictured. Both amazing. Even better at 30% off. Best spot for pregaming it at Scotiabank Arena. And you can postgame it too as happy hour starts again at 9pm. Valet parking and the underground path takes you right into the arena. Or just walk outside and enjoy a nice spliff or two on the way.

I went to Hy’s for a very special reunion with friends I hadn’t seen in 10 and respectively 26 years! We had a magical evening, the food just perfect, the elegant and lively ambiance and most of all Gabe’s service and attention, absolutely outstanding. Too bad the restaurant had to close, we could’ve spent the whole night! To be repeated.

We had a party of 14 in the semi-private room for my Birthday. Jimmy and Gabe were absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect from the moment we sat down. It was a delightful dining experience!

Atmosphere is good, it has delicious food, and it's fancy restaurant. There is live music at some time.

Super delicious place, cozy atmosphere, good live music Wednesday to Sunday.
We all got 3 steaks (NEW Strip) and they were good, but the potatoes tasted like they were reheated and were not good, this was both baked and fried potatoes, however the mashed potatoes were good.
All in all, a good experience, but a bit expensive in relation to the quality.
We got away with about 400$ for 3x steak, 2x dessert, 2 glasses of wine and a coke.

Lovely and comforting atmosphere. Best place for a quiet catch-up and a bite. Looking forward to getting the chance for a full supper.

Went for a birthday dinner in April and was not impressed by the food.

Went back again at the end of May and I only have one thing to say: Fantastic

Expensive but outstanding. The scallops didnt have the best sear, a little under done. The beef Wellington was good (not great). I'd recommend the fillet over the Wellington. Fantastic service and worth reserving a table during live music. Check the website for timing, usually starts from 7-7: 30pm.

Also tried the cheese toast: not worth it. The steak Neptune: absolutely amazing. The cocktails: hit and miss. Desert: fresh berries and raspberry sorbet was a great way to end a big meal.

Note: live music is downstairs in the lobby/bar. Great atmosphere to grab a table or have drinks at the bar while taking in the music.

We had a fantastic time at this place. Ordered a 10oz beef tartar, steak poivre and beef wellington - all items were top quality and very well prepared, especially the tartar which is prepared tableside which was quite exciting. The server was able to suggest a very decent wine pairing to our meal, so that was nice. Ambience was outstanding, this place has one of the best interiors in the financial district, and live music just accompanies it so well. I'd love to see more variety in appetizers/sharables at this place, but otherwise it was an exemplary steakhouse experience.

In Toronto for the weekend. Hy's steakhouse is the absolute best of the best! The service was impeccable - Our waiter Gabriel went above and beyond - he gave us exemplary service. Been to many restaurants and this by far is my favorite.

Service was excellent! Atmosphere was excellent! Live music was excellent! Table side caesar salad was excellent! Striploin was just ok. Wine was excellent!

Brought my dad here last night for his 80th birthday. I was really busy all day so was happy they could accommodate us at 10: 30 pm. Everything was up to par except for two things. The ceasar salad that I usually get is half the size. Also a couple of the oysters were off. But overall was a good experience.

We ordered steak and asked for fish of the day and ordered it. Steak was excellent but fish steak was served with the pork to which I wasn’t informed before. I don’t eat pork so I complaint about it to which they did a fresh plating of the fish by removing pork bits. It was a hesitant eating experience for me. Our server keeps visiting us too often giving impression to just eat and leave making the experience very uncomfortable.

Excellent restaurant, fabulous food. The only thing not getting a 5 star is that our waitresse dropped the ball on the last drink. It sat on the bar for the duration of our main course. Other than that, I would highly recommend.

This was an amazing night. Great food and the service was top notch. Big shoot out to Gabe and the rest of the servers who were attentive and incredibly kind. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

We ordered four mains, appetizers and dessert and everything was a severe let down. Their cheesy toast was just Walmart garlic bread microwaved with cheap cheddar cheese. Shrimp cocktail tasted like the shrimp had been frozen. Mashed potato had no taste. No one finished more than half their mains which speaks for itself. The banana flambé was a fun presentation that’s about it. We went on a Saturday night during Caribana weekend which was why service was lacking and the kitchen was most likely overwhelmed. Either way, I would not recommend. The only thing worth our visit was the live music which was excellent but not redeemable of a $800 bill

I ordered their bacon wrapped fish and brussel sprouts. The fish was served with fennel and sauce which were my favourite parts. The fish itself was very tender, but was over powered by the bacon. I would not order the fish again. The brussel sprouts were recommended but they arrived wildly overdone, much like kale chips in a bowl. My companion's steak and ruffled mash were apparently a hit. The service and wine were lovely. Overall, I was unimpressed

The great atmosphere and service are a welcome respite from the busy streets of Toronto, especially around this location. We visited for dinner before a show so we skipped the apps and went right to the mains - cocktails were delicious and the steaks were cooked to perfection. A really good option if ever you're in the area and in the mood for a steak and wine experience.

The staff here was very friendly with exceptional service. The cacio e pepe pasta was out of this world. Very flavourful and would highly recommend. I ordered both steaks Medium and it was cooked to perfection. Very juicy and flavorful. The side of mashed potatoes was great. I feel like the portions of the mashed could have been slightly more but no worries. This place is a must! I will definitely be returning.

Went to Hy’s for my birthday. The appetizers were incredible. Prawns and ahi tuna. My main was bone in Ribeye and no joke it’s in my top 3 steaks in Toronto for sure. The best part was Gabriel’s service. Our waiter was the best. Funny. Accurate, and helped make the night. Will be back for sure. We loved it!

Very disappointing and did not meet expectations. The food itself is pretty good but not the best. Service is extremely disappointing, no quality checks, no table maintenance, and server is never found in their section. Support staff also very disappointing as they are not very attentive or helpful when the server was absent. Server only made conversation or try to provide some type of service during payment of the bill so you would feel incline to tip them well. The worst of all of this experience is the fact that they charge you for a taste of wine when you are trying to choose what wine you would like with your meal. $6 for a tiny sip of wine is ridiculous and screams that the establishment is cheap as no other restaurant has charged for wine tasters.

Edit: Spoke to Vincent and he was able to address my experience and issues with me over the phone and correct them as well. He was very understanding and was lovely to talk to, this is definitely the service and hospitality that I was expecting from Hy’s.

Easily one of the best steakhouses in the city. Had the 20oz bone in rib steak and met and exceeded my expectations. Sides were all good including the wedge salad. Extensive wine list. Additionally the atmosphere was great with live music elevating the overall experience. Recommend if you are looking for great steak or a place to go on a special occasion.

Great all around experience. The space itself is beautiful with high ceilings and natural light. The service was a top notch. For me, I haven’t eaten at a lot of high end steak houses. But I have eaten a lot of steaks.and t his was probably the best I ever had. Had the 14oz NY and it was perfectly cooked and full of great flavour! Great place for a corporate lunch or special celebration or just a great steak.

Excellent food and atmosphere. My 11 year old had the beef wellington and finished it off. The staff was very friendly and always on the ball when you had that question in mind. Its like they read our minds. First time going home with no leftovers. Certainly will be back again.

My mom’s order of prawns and scallops had an astounding amount of sand in it. I’m talking wet foot in sand and then you pull a sock over it kind of sandy. Very crunchy, and it hurt her teeth. Gave the dish an interesting texture, but because it is not good for older peoples’ health and well-being I’m going to suggest not ordering it. This is the only thing that really affects me not rating it highly.

Our server, Raquel I think their name was, was extremely kind though, (as well as the other servers) and the steaks were pretty ok. Overall the food wasn’t that special though, you can get pretty similar stuff if not much better at Cactus Club although the atmosphere is a lot nicer. Not saying the food was bad though, definitely edible and no large complaints beyond not well-seasoned enough for my Chinese tastebuds. Good place to take people with more Westernized palates. For people who prefer more seasoning though I will take them to Cactus Club.

Also side note that doesn’t affect my rating, it was really hard to find parking nearby

Great experience. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was immaculate. I highly recommend hy's for a little extra something. My S/O and I had eaten the beef wellington and the steak Diane, and the brussel sprouts. Everything tasted amazing and I would definitely go back.

Delicious delicious delicious. This place was so tasty and the atmosphere makes it one of my favorite places in Toronto. The tables ide serving is super cool and did I mention the steaks are delicious? Would totally come back

Took my queen there for her birthday, y'all know Jamaican woman are feisty when it comes to what, where and who makes their food, she gave this place a 5 star rate while having her food. The ambience, live band and the servers and waiters are top notch. We will definitely be coming back again. Thanks for making her birthday special.

BEST Caesar salad made in front of you! Fresh and crispy romaine leaves, flavourful and crunchy croutons, nutty Parmesan, and CREAMY Caesar dressing!

The steaks are, of course, so juicy. Medium rare made perfect EVERY SINGLE TIME

We went to this restaurant with some friends. Atmosphere is great, nice live music. Appetizers - we got the onion soup serious salad which were both really great. Main course we got the steak and lobsters -the steak was great and I would definitely recommend this place.

Their lounge is great and definitely recommend the dining as well! Hy's provides warm and cozy environment with full flavored dishes.

For my part, i have to say thank you to the Manager i had on the phone who understood my need for Oysters! I called and asked if they had any in service the lady on the phone didn’t know so she asked me to wait for a Manager, and he came with good news so when i arrived my table was already set up with my 12 oysters and wow that food journey started very well for me that night. Very well received and the service by Raquel (Rachelle) was very professional as expected. I can say now this will be my go too when i get the need for oysters.

I will be back that is for certain, hopefully this time with a date. Who Knows what

Delicious place for food lovers! I love the atmosphere that reminds me so much of the Parisian chic bistro style!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. We ordered delivery the next night and it was just as good.

Food and services were excellent and professional.
Charging $5 for a glass of water seems greedy.
Only go here if you have a lot of money, which I don't lol

Was there for lunch and I had the Burger. The ambience and decor was first class. Very warm, comfortable and classy, but not pretentious.
The hostess and server were both professional. I had their Prime Beef Burger and it was delicious. I just have one minor, but important complaint.
The Bun the Burger was served on, was too small and not of quality, equal to the Beef and garnishes. Meaning it was good, but a better bun, would have made it exceptional. All in all it is worth a visit.

The staff gets a 5 out of 5, the attention is incredible and the place is beautiful. The food could be better specially for the price you pay. I tried a couple of desserts as well and they are ok, nothing decadent.

This old bank cum restaurant has ambience of the old building, depends on who serves you as part of your experience is important, our waiter covered up a spilled drink with a napkin instead of changing the tablecloth. Server didn't really know what went in what salad. I had a better Cob at the food court across the street

Absolutely Fabulous! My wife and I spent our 27th Wedding Anniversary at Hy's Steakhouse and were blown away by the beautiful ambiance, and 5 star service by our incredible server Gabriel. Instantly we felt transported to a time when hospitality was an art and only the best artists were selected to curate your masterpiece. Gabriel's recommendations were on point, and he attended to our every need. The food was exceptional, and Steak was cooked to perfection! My wife celebrity chef Raquel Fox who is also an instructor at George Brown College said " Dining at Hy's Steakhouse Toronto was the epitome of remarkable service! " The live music had us on the floor and dancing to the smooth sounds of the band. We can't wait to go back with our friends.

Gabriel was AMAZING! Very professional and made us feel special. Such a kind person.definitely deserves recognition. Will be recommending this place because of him!
