I had my very first deep tissue massage today with Mariangela, and the experience was everything I could've asked for and more! She is such a sweet, attentive, capable, and professional RMT. I can't wait to have another session The whole space is pleasantly relaxing, which makes the overall experience even better. I would most certainly recommend Mariangela to be your RMT with my eyes closed.

I tried a couple studios in the city and it was a no brainer to come back to I Am Yoga. The environment of the stuido is relaxing, friendly, and honestly very homey. Most of the instructors are very encouraging of you meeting yourself where you are at, to find a balance between pushing yourslef and honoring your limitations. As a beginner ive never felt shamed or not good enough for what i couldnt do during the classes, and i feel consistent attendance of the classes has not only improved me physically but also my self-compassion & self love. I really love how each class makes time for mindfulness and breathwork. As a psychotherapist in mental health, this studio has been my person zen and self care spot, and has helepd my burn out so much. I am sad to say i will be moving out of the area, but will def be making weekend day trips to attend weekend detox flows. The most stand out instructors for a beginner in my oppinion are Tori Lovegrove, Angela morel, teri ann and juliana. The aromatherapy, hot hatha and detox flow classes are my fave.

One thing i would love to see would be curvy/ plus size yoga instructors. Sometimes curvier women are afriad of judgement or not loooking the right way during poses, and i feel this would be a great thing to provide

This was the best experience for me as a beginner. I highly recommend to anyone thinking of giving Yoga a try and are afraid or self conscious about their bodies or ability to do the moves. I felt thoroughly comfortable at this class and it made me really interested to pursue yoga.

Have been going there for many years. After also visiting many other studios in town, this is always the one I recommend to others. It really is the best in town.
02 January 2023 12:32
This studio would not honor 2 classes i had already paid for. I had a medical issue and I was not permitted to work out at that time.the owner then told me that my classes were expired and instead of letting me use the two classes that i already paid for and maintaining a client. She was terribly rude and disrespectful. She had the audacity to ask me why I didn't e-mail the studio. For a yoga studio that suppose to preach wellness and health they certainly do not stand by their mantra.to bad they lost a client and the boss does not know how to do business

What a wondering studio! The place is very warm and welcoming. The classes are taught by very qualified instructors. I also appreciate that they also provide towels, mats and even a shower facility for times of need. I strongly recommend this hot yoga studio.

You walk in and are instantaneously transported into a space of gratitude, patience, and surrender. I am honoured to have shared breath and being with Sadaf, Rachael and the community who showed up.

I was privileged to enjoy a class given by Hassan. Really clear instructions with guidance on how to refine each pose no matter your level of experience. Great studio. Great vibe.
18 October 2022 22:22
I really enjoyed my experience at the studio. Very clean and calming. First time doing hot yoga and felt really refreshed. The instructor is really friendly and fun. I felt more in the moment and myself
11 August 2022 4:44
Very good instructors. A very beautiful environment to practice yoga. Clean towels and clean work spaces.

This place is just beautiful. It has the nicest staff and a great variety of classes. I was visiting Toronto for a few days only and so I did just one class with Chris Muszka. It was awesome. The studio itself is so clean and cozy. Can’t wait to go back one day. Thumbs up for this spot!

Update: Amending my review as the studio has followed-up with me and listened to my concerns about having been denied entry to a class after having arrived 2 minutes after it started, and having been charged for it. I appreciate their offer of a complimentary pass to make up for the inconvenience caused. I will give the studio another chance as their yoga classes were excellent, and am really hoping that they will reconsider their position and allow latecomers who arrive within less than five minutes after classes start. I assure you we don't do this on purpose; a delay of a couple of minute shows that we have made the effort to come on time or before, but likely something came up along the way that prevented that happening.

This studio has zero consideration for its paying customers. I was informed today after having arrived 2 minutes into class that they changed their policy as of last week (without providing any notification) from allowing people to come in within the first 5 mins to not allowing people at all after the time. For a studio based in downtown Toronto, knowing how our public transport and traffic is, to do this to people who have booked time out of their day, travelled all the way there, etc.is unacceptable. The first five minutes include breathing warmups anyway, and it’s not like my being 2 mins late will prevent the instructor from teaching the class (and getting paid for it) or the other attendees from benefiting from the class. But on the other hand, this way they can get money more easily from customers who have prepaid for the classes. Needless to say, they lost me as a customer; I will be looking for other studios that actually respect their clients and are considerate of their circumstances

The instructors are great and the staff are always smiling and ready to greet you as soon as you walk in. They have so many classes throughout the day which can accommodate any schedule. The changeroom/shower facilities are spacious and always very clean. I highly recommend this studio and suggest getting the monthly pass which includes mat storage and towel service. A big thank you to the amazing IAM Yoga team!

My sanctuary downtown. Various styles are available throughout the day. Some of the best yoga teachers in town are there. Sadaf & her team are just amazing. Thank you all.
09 May 2022 6:22
I love of variety of classes and sequencing, the skill and professionalism of the teachers and the hot room.
29 April 2022 22:37
IAM Yoga is an island of calm of peace in the city's heart. A very convenient location, just minutes away from the Bloor-Yonge TTC station. The studio is invariable very clean. Front desk staff are wonderful, eager to help, always greet you with a smile and are very quick to learn your name. Teachers are amazing, with different approaches to their art, so you are certain to find someone whose classes you'll quickly fall in love with and won't want to miss. The schedule boasts a sizeable selection of classes (both hot and regular, restorative and energizing). Thank you, the IAM Yoga team, for making every visit to the studio so enjoyable!

Tori’s hot class was my favourite and the facility was lovely! Layout was good and very clean. Staff was also very friendly. Would recommend.

Philippe Van Martin is the best. He is an expert communicator and easily shares his compassion and humility with all. He is truly a gifted teacher.
21 April 2022 11:21
Will always be the best studio. Travelling from the west end 4x weekly is certainly worth it. And I love the new owner and the community the new studio is building.
08 September 2021 14:51
Iam Yoga is the best in town the staff are very polite always smiling when you get in it's a wonderful feeling. The studio is the cleanest of all. It's normal you need to come 10 minutes before classes you don't have to put yourself in a hurry just come early relax and make yourself ready to start a yoga class with among the best instructor.

Iam Yoga was the first place that I practiced yoga, where I felt totally comfortable, accepted, and valued. I had suffered from depression for most of my life and joined through their Blu Matter Project. I was going through a bad time. Even though I didn't feel particularly beautiful, athletic, or like my life mattered that much, the people at Iam made me feel welcome. The studio felt cozy, clean, well-organized, bright, and had positive vibes. Each teacher had a distinct style and personality that complemented each other, and gave me a variety of different classes to choose from, depending on my energy levels that day. The teachers were attentive and kind, with a way of correcting my practice, that felt good.

It won't be for everyone. They tend to be busy due to BMP, Groupons, and walk-ins from people off the street, who are looking for different things from yoga, be it a purely physical practice, to one that may be more spiritual in nature. The studio is on the 2nd and 3rd floor, there's a small lounge where you can sit and chat with other members of the community, before and after class, and a locker room with showers. One studio for regular classes on the 2nd floor and one for hot yoga on the 3rd floor. You get a membership card that you place beside your mat, which the teacher collects at the start of class (and which you pick up from the reception desk at the end). You can rent a space to store your mat, or borrow one of theirs. They ask you to spray the mats with their cleaning solution and hang them to dry. It's not nearly as fancy, spacious, or serene as some of the yoga studios I've seen since then. But it somehow manages to look like the busy gym next door, while feeling a bit classier, like a single oasis in a bleak unchanging modern world. You feel refreshed, and released from tensions, so you can access the more peaceful and positive emotions inside.

I really appreciate how Linda tried to make it accessible to people with low incomes who suffer from depression. It's a worthy studio to visit.

Loved going in the early mornings, even throughout the winter months for 7: 30 class
And throughout the year!
Great start to my day!
Always lovely instructors and super atmosphere
Missed it so much through all these lockdowns
Back soon hopefully

Signed up for a monthly unlimited membership (pre-covid) and was very disappointed. Despite booking my spot online, if I arrived 5 minutes early or on time, the entire room was full and I could not find a spot for my mat. The only way to attend a class was to arrive 10-15 minutes early. They should enforce a max number of attendees with preference to those who booked online. I also find the classes advertised as beginner to be way too hard, I couldn’t complete them and wasn’t given any easier alternative postures or advice from the instructors.
21 September 2020 4:53
Thank you very much for your responses. Really appreciate it. Looking froward to hearing from you when this time will be available. Thanks.
12 July 2020 23:30
I always enjoy the energy of the classes at Iam Yoga and know I will always have a good yoga workout. The rooms are bright and spacious with a zen energy. The studio also follow protocols that include respecting a quiet room before a class (not every studio does this). The instructors are also experienced to lead a wide selection of classes. I highly recommend!
21 April 2020 1:11
What a great studio! Instructors are amazing and such a beautiful space. I always feel great coming here and leave feeling even better:) My favourite studio in the city.
18 April 2020 14:55
I have had an incredible experience at I am Yoga. I am currently doing the energy exchange program, which allows me to take classes for free in exchange for working at the front desk/taking care of the studio once a week. The people are beautiful and I love the way this opportunity has allowed me to integrate myself into the community. I highly recommend the studio in general (which in itself is beautiful) but the energy exchange program as well if you are a dedicated yogi and wanting to find a yoga community!
06 April 2020 10:13
I love I am yoga studio. I like their hot yoga and it's convenient location. I found a nutritionist Elaine Clark thru this yoga studio as they promote her info. I have been having issues with my imbalanced hormones so I decided to see her and try $225 intro package where she assessed my current supplements and food. After the second meeting, I felt uncomfortable and doubtful after she started mentioning how her client's level 4 cancer was cured by supplements. She was also against eating tuna stating Asian counties have highest cancer rates due to chemicals in tuna. Not sure where she's getting her information from but it really did not seem to be scientific base and the recipes she provided was like a joke.she did not even follow up or anything after 6 weeks. It was so unprofessional and such amateur advice can be dangerous.
27 March 2020 9:07
The 'Straps and Stretch' class was a great way to ease back into yoga practice having not done so in some time. The instructor was sensitive to a few of the new/renewing attendees and made great accommodations on the fly to make the class valuable for everyone. Based on my experience and observing other, more experienced practitioners, there is something for everyone/every level at Iam.
25 March 2020 3:18
This place pumps fragrance all throughout the studio. Not somewhere you can go if you have any scent allergies or sensitivities. Also, the class was so full there was no room for my mat. And yet they kept letting people in. I had to leave due to the allergy attack (and not having a spot for my mat aside from behind à piller where I couldn’t see the instructor. I registered for the class, signed up, went in and left and got charged! For a class I couldn’t attend. And spent the rest of the night sick due to the allergy attack. There is no need to pump fragrance through any air system. Some people may think it’s a nice smell but others will be crippled by it. Not worth it. Check your priorities

This studio operates with integrity, passion and a true commitment to offering a safe space for everyone to learn about, explore and challenge their bodies & minds under the guidance of incredibly dedicated teachers. Thank you for being my home away from home!

A couple things. It was my very first yoga experience and I just got back from the detox flow hot yoga class taught by Alexandra Turnbull from 8am to 9am this morning.

First, the receptionists were so occupied dealing with one lady. Her gift card or pass didn't work or something. We all wasted a few minutes because of that. The receptionists were unprofessional as all of them were listening to this lady and no one helped me out. Again, it was my very first day and even upon my registration, no one instructed me where to go, etc.

The change/shower rooms were on the 2nd floor with the reception area and I had to navigate a bit by myself to figure out where to go. The receptionists were so in rush and under pressure so that clearly they couldn't afford talking to me.

I followed the crowd up to the third floor and finally found my class. I had my phone with me, on silent mode, on the floor by my mat. Alexandra, the instructor arrived shortly after and told me to put the phone away into a "room? " Long story short, she literally snatched the phone away from my hand and started the class.

I'm sorry if it was a common sense not to bring a phone to a yoga class but I attended many pilates classes and it was never an issue. Maybe yoga is too "zen" and "cool" for phones (but not only that, she collected all the guest passes from everyone else and put them altogether with my phone in the end. So we were not supposed to bring our guest passes to the class, either? They were given by the receptionists!)

After the class, I told Alexandra I was sorry that I brought the phone to the class and she literally said very loudly to me: "Phones are never allowed in our classes. They're SUPER DISTRACTING. " In front of the reception, where people were around.

Okay lady, I get it lol Maybe you could have been a bit nicer to me as you said in the class, it was a "sunny Sunday morning" and we all should be "grateful to everything? "

And usually, don't instructors come a bit earlier and tell the first-timers what to do (ex.put your phone away?) She was so on time that didn't have the chance to do so.

Anyways, I tried my best to read all the instructions on the website and the confirmation email I got ahead of time so that I would know what to expect. Read the policies and the email sent to me yourself, and put "no-phone" policy, if you want your students not to bring phones next time. I really can't afford to come back to this studio again as I felt very intimidated and not welcomed. There are many other yoga studios and instructors to try out in Toronto.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Iam Yoga. I had decided to explore yoga studios with a friend and we came across a good deal on groupon. Ever since then, I've been coming back! I also joined the "energy exchange program", which allows you to take unlimited classes for volunteering once a week. The teachers are highly qualified and are very knowledgeable. The staff is kind and very accommodating. The studio is beautiful and well-maintained. I absolutely enjoy my time here!
13 February 2020 10:22
Recommend! Everything you want a yoga studio to be. A friendly environment, experienced instructors, clean facilities and a great work-out. There a ton of different class types and times that fit whatever I'm looking for that day.
26 January 2020 20:19
I have been attending this yoga studio for years. I found it through the Groupon deal which was great and kept going. This studio has beautiful facilities, and a variety of classes and styles. Best of all the staff are welcoming and the atmosphere here is a very healthy, open approach to each person’s individual yoga practice no matter their skill level. A gem in downtown Toronto!

Extremely poor experience, avoid this place if you can. The front desk staff was extremely rude and I heard them yell at someone visiting for the first time that tried to bring their phone into the room. After the class, I heard the yoga instructor talking right in the public area about how bad the vibe of the class was and how she really didn’t enjoy it. Really uncomfortable to hear an instructor talk down about a class you were part of. Felt pretentious and unwelcoming. Nice facility and decent classes but not worth dealing with everything else. Based on the other reviews, I’m not the only one that’s experienced something like this.

If you're looking for a place to deepen your practice and connect to a community, Iam Yoga is the place to be. The staff is so kind and passionate about providing a safe and comfortable space to practice. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or new to yoga, there is a class for you! Each teacher brings their own personality and style so you're sure to find something you love. I've loved getting to know the teachers and staff and am so happy to have stumbled upon this studio!

I’ve been doing yoga for 13 years and have tried many studios, but IAM has been my favourite. I love the community and the variety of classes. Every teacher has a different vibe that they bring to the room and I love it!

I also can’t imagine my life without the amazing friends I’ve met here

I have had such a great experience. The environment is great. The staff made me feel at home and I love the community I have built.
26 October 2019 11:22
I have been a client there (Midtown) for many years. The studio has a number of great instructors, but, recently, I have had unpleasant experiences with the reception staff. One was the reaction to my gentle complain about a last minute sub/change of instructor and the other one was this morning Saturday 28 September 2019 about my cell phone tone being too "Epic and Loud" as I was to leave the studio! The person at the desk demanded turning down the volume! It was clearly about her and not about the studio policies inside the waiting area! Where people chat or put their shoes on. Very rude and unprofessional. This kind of self-righteous, aggressive, and confrontational approach to a client IS NOT acceptable. AND emails ARE not replied to by the management!
02 April 2019 18:30
Great place. But I so wish the classes incorporated more poses like sleeping hero or dancer's poses etc. As a person practicing for a while now, I appreciate these poses as they are quite active yet restorative.
25 March 2019 19:14
Pros: beautiful washroom / changerooms, comfortable waiting area with a large table, they provide a lock if you didn't bring one. The Hot classes I took were mostly well taught.some benefect or essential oil mist to freshen the air between hot classes would be a huge welcome.

Cons: popular classes get VERY packed. Be warned. The studio also smells like a gym (rubber+sweat) which I am sure is due to the amount of sweaty yoga mats all over the studio (you can rent a spot on the wall to store your mat), which could be easily remedied. The Yin class I took seemed a bit clumsy in sequence and delivery, and the bolsters smelled like other people and dust. They could definitely be more well- maintained.

Overall: convenient location, wide schedule and nice changerooms.
16 March 2019 0:24
I come to the studio frequently and classes usually don’t start until everyone settles in, teachers walk in 5-7 minutes after the official start time and finish a couple minutes short of 60 minutes to give everyone time to relax. Today I was at the door one minute late, braved the -18 C weather to come to the class and was turned down because the teacher already went in? That’s double standard
04 February 2019 7:14
Like every yoga studio, instructors have different styles at this studio. I like some better than others. The studio itself is very nice though. Spacious rooms and classes were never too crowded. I would love it even more if the rental mats are better quality.
23 December 2018 2:32
I took Teri-Ann’s class at lunch today and I loved it!

But there was a very rude woman (Iam Yoga employee) sitting on the couch today that tried to make me feel guilty for not being in class even though I had already set up my mat in the room and class didn’t start for another 5 minute. Other students were still rushing in.

Further, she goes to say “Don’t bring that phone into class. Leave it with the front desk” as if it was my first time at the studio? Or that it was my first time at a yoga class?

It just felt like she deemed me guilty of being late and having my phone in the class without it actually happening.

I feel like I have found a new home in the city at Iam Yoga! It has truly changed my life. Nothing but positivity from this location. The staff are super lovely and kind, always saying hello, asking how you are and wishing you a good practice. The teachers are very unique and offer different classes which is good for the yogi that likes diversity! I find each class a new experience and I better my practice with each step into the studio. Truly a great environment. For anyone a bit nervous about getting their yoga journey started, or if you are looking for a new studio to call home - youll find it at Iam yoga midtown <3

I have been with Iam Yoga for a year and half now, and the only not so positive thing I have to say is the temperature control in your hot room. While most times I feel the temperature is set at a constant, lately (maybe because of the summer days) it became really frustratingly hot to the point that my skin feels burning whenever in contact with the floor. I also noticed some instructors do adjust the thermostat accordingly during practice, which is much appreciated, but NOT all of them. As a student, I can't really say or do anything in such situations besides having to walk out of the room.
