My 92 year old mother slipped on a rug, and hit her against the counter, and a 4cm split in her scalp was the end result.
She was brought into the hospital and they gave her a CT scan and 4 stitches. Scan was ok: no internal damage.

Thing is she was brought into the hospital wearing nothing but her nightie. When I picked her up, she was wearing this great dress (pictured here with her nurse). The dress was a donation to the Civic Hospital, and I thought she looked great in it.
The nurse was so wonderful: she made my mom feel as good as they could given the circumstances.
I asked her to pose with my mom: at first she was reluctant, but then she gave in and helped make this picture wonderful.
The staff here are nice caring people that im positive are underpaid. They work long hours, weird shifts, and have to deal with extremely stressful situations on a daily basis. And this is indicative of every emergency room: nurses have to deal with a ton of stress, and they deserve a hug. Every day. So, hug a nurse, buy him/her a coffee, tell them how much you appreciate their service to the community.

Line ups are hard when you can't stand for long. Dr was upset when I was a few minutes late due to elevator construction and the lineup- hospital needs to improve

Ices is a very busy hospital. Over load stress levels are high. But the staff and Doctors are doing an excellent job

No one goes to any hospital for pleasure or to have fun. I am very grateful with the nurses and the doctors, very caring and very helpful at all times. Amazing job they do with the resources they have that sometimes are not enough.

Pathetic. Short staffed. Over 8.5 hours in emergency to even be seen. No ultrasound technician at night. After getting back home at 2 am had to be back for 7 am. Finally home at 10 am. No staff shortage. Just doctors and nurses who want the long weekend off! Should have gone to the General! Should have remembered the treatment my Mum got 3 years ago.

After Ubering to the Civic Hospital was advised that spouses had to wait outside, so I Ubered home.
They took very good care of John. He was home shortly after 11pm.
Can't blame them. Damn Covid19

The Civic Hospital is an excellent hospital. Unfortunately I have needed their services for many years. They are always pleasant and professional. They have always taken excellent care of me.

Very poor hospital! All stupid doctors! My brother is a specialist in London ON. This is a teaching hospital? It's a disgrace!

Hart Institute was amazing saved my dad and due to covid lock down wasn't allowed in but they called me every hour till he was able to call me

Vieux bâtiment, sauf le centre de pneumo-cardiologie refait à neuf. Mais ils font des miracles avec.
Bien protégé pour la Covid.

Fab hospital in the city. Only problem is that with the covid restrictions, they only have one entrance, at one end of the place. My appointments all seem too be at the very furthest opposite end of the main hallways. It's a very long walk for me, with my walker.

They saved my life twice in my 40+ yrs. Have no words and enough thank you's for saving me with heart conditions since my birth. Dr. Keon was my surgeon and may his soul Rest in Peace and thank you for keeping me around with my family of 5!

My Father was here during his stroke and was mostly well taken care of.

*** BUT ***

The building security is horrible! During Covid-19 even! I walked through 3 posts where the nurses TOLD ME HOW TO ANSWER CORRECTLY Completely defeats the purpose of covid questions.

They also don't track who's been in or out.

That being said the actual GUARDS do an amazing job and are super helpful!

I liked it that they were nice and friendly you came in you didn't have a mass to had one that does all kinds of stuff to make sure that you're safe and then no one one for Susan and one person is out

Questions can be made for specialized medical staff. More focused placed on prescription profit than patient care. Once an excellent place. Too much change is affecting proper practice

I am simply thankful that doctors are risking their personal health daily to help others. Considered myself lucky to live in an amazing country that cares about it's citizens wellbeing.

Always good service here. Only people with appointments were allowed in and they had someone to escort you if you needed it.

Went with a friend for a covid-19 test. The testing centres closed early and recommended we go through emergency.triage should just dedicate a spot for this during the pandemic - I understand they don't want 100 people showing up for testing.but waited over 3 hours because of the regular caseload.

Love this place! Keeping me alive since 2014! Ottawa Heart Institute at rear on Ruskin. Thank you so much to all of the staff, including cleaning staff, porters, techs, nurses and doctors. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the excellent care that I received and continue to receive. Thank you for staying and caring for people during this virus as well. Peace and stay safe!

Top notch care and mostly down to earth R. N.and P. R. N. DOC'S as well. Old school feel. Navigating this hospital is fairly easy.

They saved my wife's life. They have amazing people working there, from the nurses and doctors to support such as physio and education to food services and others.

Nurses are rude and the few that are nice certainly can be seen at odd times. Hospital needs to fix some issues. One being misdiagnosed with a lung infection to only collapse in emergency room in chair to have them say its a heart attack. Just no excuse for it. Big difference on having a lung infection of which did not exist to a heart attack.

Ottawa Civic hospital took care of my brother in law. Was on life support staff very professional and caring.knowing that the professional care is there when you need it is reassuring.

Took a family member to the emergency room. Was completely disgusted by the filthy bathroom in emergency and in Urgent Care but very impressed with the friendliness of the staff particularly considering how short-staffed they seem to be and the conditions they are working under. Those staff deserve recognition everyone from the doctors and nurses to the assistants but they definitely need more cleaners or to pay more attention to properly servicing the bathrooms.

Blood clinic. Accurate results can be seen online at My chart. Nurses especially good and unlike the general there is a lot less "bumping". You can pay to park or get free on street parking on Holland Ave, sometimes Parkdale or over on Crerar. Best to go to the Clinic Tuesday to Thursday and as off peak as you can! Definitely not right before or after a public holiday. The chairs are comfy. If you have to give a urine sample go down the hallway first right as you leave the clinic. The next door ones tend to be very dirty and smell bad and unisex. The one 10 steps further down the main hall and then 20 steps down that right turn has a usually super clean women's washroom that is normally well stocked and decent smelling.

Unfortunately, our healthcare system is lacking places to put violent dementia patients. My friend has been living on the 6th-floor psych ward for over a year and will likely due there. The Civic Hospital is his home now.
The good thing about it is the staff and how they treat my friend. I am grateful to have him living there than some nursing home at this stage of his life.
