IL FORNELLO - St. Catharines

Food is delicious and Dan was a fantastic waiter. It was mid week and early evening, so quiet but still very nice.
Dan made great recommendations, advised us of the chef’s ability to modify recipes to meet dietary needs and omit any ingredients that we didn’t like! Portions were good everyone (5 of us) were all very pleased with our dishes. Parking lot is a bit of a challenge (located on the other side of A&W) But found it obviously! Definitely, looking to return very soon.

Service was excellent but the food was just okay. I found it to be very pricey for the size of the servings. I would of liked bread or a side salad as an option with my meal. I ordered the garlic cheese bread and my pasta dish and found I was still kinda hungry afterwards. Apparently supposed to be popular for their pizza but my kids didn’t like it at all. Unfortunately I don’t think I would go back.

Slow service for a dead night. I was chatting with friends, so i didn't mind too much. Ordered cup of tea, it came cold but the waitress was no where around to ask for a hot one and she never came back until our dinner was served. She didn't pop around to see if we wanted refills or other drinks either. The entire 2 hrs spent there was 1 tea, 1 coffee and 1 pop - that's their loss.
Two of us thought the food was bland, we both had a variation of pasta. Warm bread for table was overcooked and dry like toast.
For the prices these days I'll stick with places I know I like.

Just had a great pizza for 12 dollars. Great deal and it was excellent. Service was great.

Dinner before a concert. Wine special on Wednesday is great! Had arancini as an appetizer then pasta dishes. They were delicious and made fresh! Will definitely be back!

Great dinner at Il Fornello last night. Had the vegan margherita pizza. Wasn't sure what to expect as restaurant vegan food can be hit and miss, but the pizza was excellent. Thin, crispy crust, sweet tomato sauce, cheese was nicely melted and fresh basil on top. Also had a very well made martini. Our server was friendly and prompt. Only complaint was the acoustics. It was busy, so lots of chatter and it bounced around, making conversation sometimes difficult. But otherwise, highly recommend.

Delicious food, warm inviting atmosphere, reasonably priced (some things are on the more expensive side), good service! Was busy both times we were there so consider making a reservation. Forgot to take pictures the first time we were there but the fettuccine Alfredo was incredible. The other items we tried were also great, but I think the fettuccine wins in my books.

Expect to spend around $20-$50 a person, depending on what you order.

They also have a large plant based menu, didn’t try it but worth noting.

I have been there a few times, it's always great food and excellent customer service. The gluten free pizza is the best in town. They always do their best it couldn't have been better, well done St Catharines location.

Great experience for a birthday dinner! 3 wonderful meals and appetizer! Portion sizes were good, and prices are decent. Will be returning.

I’ve been looking for a restaurant in St. Catharines that serves good lasagna. Tonight I found it.
The lasagna was so tasteful. Just the right amount of every ingredient to make it perfect for me.
The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about was the bread that came with it…it was toasted a little too burnt for my taste, but I just used the amazing sauce as a dip.
Dan, (I hope that was his name) my server was awesome. Very attentive, friendly and efficient…even to express a subtle apology for the loud behaviour of a large group also dining.
I was extremely satisfied with my experience, I will be back. Thank you.

First time here. Food was delicious. Dan was super helpful with the menu and went out of his way to make our dinner a fantastic experience. Super service. Super food. Definitely a repeater.

Two girlfriends & I arrived between 4: 30-4: 40 to learn this restaurant does not open until 5pm (should have checked prior but we were all meeting after work). We waited in our cars for 15 min then decided to go in to be told it did not open until 5pm (it was 4: 50pm) so we asked the hostess if we could just sit in the chairs by the door and it was the floor manager who told us that was fine.
Our server Bailey had a trainer with her and both were very friendly & helpful at giving suggestions. Thin crust pizza (believe 5 or 6 choices is on for $12 on Tuesdays). Good size menu with lots of vegan options (most I’ve ever seen on a menu). The mushroom, arugula, parm pizza & Hawaiian pizza looked amazing & they were cut into 4 large triangles. I was told they were very good. Two small salads were ordered and they were surprisingly a good size portion. The penne a la vodka had very good flavour but a small portion with only 4 cherry tomatoes. My only feedback would be to add more veggies or have a pasta primavera on the menu. For $21 for just a small amount of penne with sauce was not worth it. Only feedback to give on the atmosphere was to turn the lights on. We were there from 5-6: 45 and it was getting darker inside. Great service, tasty food. I would recommend & return again

A very bright and welcoming restaurant. The food was excellent and our server was delightful.
We had a variety of items from pasta to burgers and enjoyed everything.

Food cold in the middle (frozen made), pasta over cooked. Pizza is always good, but only if the right person is working.

Amazing ambience, great food and reasonably priced. Love visiting the St. Catharines location - the staff and level of service here is amazing. Highly recommend giving it a chance if you’re considering checking it out!

Fantastic! First time here to this new location, and I'm totally impressed.

My wife and I ordered just appetizers, since they had them on special: meatballs; mussels with spicy tomato sauce; calimari. Plus we added an amply-sized "small" avocado salad.

Everything was freshly made, excellent quality and the right quantity!

Bonus is they had Peroni (Italian beer) on tap!
We'll be back for sure!

Had my engagement dinner here last night. With the arrival of the snow, our reservation was made 24hrs in advance. The staff absolutely crushed it! The service was on par with the Toronto location, the food is definitely on point. Thank you to everyone at IL Fornello! I'll be back for sure

The calamari was cold and the main course was just bad. It also tells me that they don’t make their food fresh, cold deep fried calamari I don’t recommend it. I have eaten at a lot of different restaurants and it’s not often that I would rate something with just 2 stars, I won’t be giving them a second chance.

First time dining here Wednesday evening with my group of friends. Food was excellent but service was sorely lacking. It was not overly busy. I don't know our server's name because she didn't tell us. We had a very long wait for our food and suprised no bread/oil or rolls offered pre-dinner. There were 4 in our party, two dinners (chicken asiago) came out together and our friends who both ordered pasta dishes were waiting on theirs and then one had to go back because a request for additional meat when ordering wasn't in the dish. We had dessert and it was very good however I ordered an Irish coffee thinking it would come with dessert. It was not received. Server brought our dessert and we never saw her again until we asked for our bill and that's when she remembered I ordered the Irish coffee. In a nutshell food was great, service needs to be better.

This restaurant was recommended by my life long friend. It was a long awaited reunion of five close people. A reservation was booked with the simple online link. I found the atmosphere to be modern with a welcoming feel. The staff was very efficient and courteous. It was our waitress’s first shift and I must remark how well prepared she was for it. We had all ordered a different dinner from the menu. It arrived all at once and was wonderfully plated and hot from the kitchen. All the food was delicious and nothing went to waist. Our waitress ensured our needs were met throughout the sitting. I commend the staff and manager whom I met to thank him personally for a great night.

Some just don't get it. I made a point of going in which I don't have a lot of time to do to mention that my son and our family friends of 4 had a terrible experience with the food.when I told the manager he said did you write in.and I said No. I'm in person now. He did nothing.so much a waste of my time.not returning. They don't get it.

I had great expectations from this unit of Il Fornello (having tried them in GTA). The food was about average. Pasta seemed a bit under cooked and Seafood linguine was not over the top as well. I would rate it as an average and ‘meets’ expectations if you are hungry.
