India Sweets and Restaurant - Elson street location

I am so disappointed with the Samosa I bought today. The quality has gone down. We’ve had samosas and other food items so many times from India Sweets at Elson and we’ve enjoyed all the preparation. The owner is very respectful but today the snack is not up to the mark or not even close to the taste they had previously. There is no salt in the potato mix, it’s full of red chili powder and the outer layer has no taste at all. I wasted my money. Please bring back the Samosa that you had earlier.

Very good sholay bhaturay, portion was adequete and very tasteful. Would come back again, probably the best desi restaurant in Markham.

I had also sabzi thali on weekends and that was legit crazy it was very nice too tasty and the portion size is massive really good place.

Food is quite good and so glad it reopened finally! Very clean and organized. Love their curries and byriani dishes. Veg byriani is delicious! As is the meat version.

The one thing I think can be improved on is the cashier who needs to be trained on customer service. She has this attitude like she is doing me a favor serving me while I am the customer. It is something I pick up on whenever I am there. Please change the cashier/front counter person as she sets a bad tone on customers and gives a bad impression. This is important as she is the first point of contact for customers - so consider who you have performing this important role - better yet, at least replace her with someone who is more hospitable.

My husband and I, had been searching for a reliable spot for kulcha, naan, and parathas that doesn't require a trip to Brampton. Fortunately, we discovered India Sweets. Surely, the best Amirtsari Naan we have ever had so far. The consistent excellent food and friendly staff make it a must-visit, offering great quality at a reasonable price.

I visited this restaurant today, the food was awesome, and customer service by gurpreet was excellent.

Love the punjabi style food. Even their different paranthas are tasty. Quiet nice place for family to sit for casual day to day meals. Both veg n non veg options.

I visited on 30 august i tried chaat bhalla papdi that was good and i took samosas as well.samosas were very bad.i came home and started vomitings.

We keep coming back for Amrisari Kulcha. I love Gajar Halwa here. Today it was even better than last time. Since the remodel the ambiance is nice to dine in. I wish they had also done the same for the washroom. It needs to be cleaned to keep it reputable. Light switches are black. Sanitisation and cleanliness is important especially at times of Covid

Food quality and taste is below average and am really suprised that a indian restaurant serves samosa without any chatney and still they charge high prices than other restaurants in the market.

Catered for a recent Diwali event at home for about 15 people. Food / preparation was amazing. Timely completion and appreciate all the help for customizing it to the needs

Ordered first time, expected to be good. Trust me there is no flavour in channa aalu for Chane Bhature. Thankfully did not come for dine-in.

We used to regularly visit India sweets when we lived in Scarborough. Now after moving to Ajax, we don't come here frequently but their Moong Daal Halwa is unique. Can't find it anywhere, so we come here for that. Take 3lb at a time. Always fresh and incredible taste.

The perfect place for indian food. It has a varied range of sweets and everything is so scrumptious you wouldnt just want to stop eating lol. All the delicacies are more and more tasty. My personal favourite is the Samosa chat & jalebi that they make. The price range is so so reasonable and all the items are super value for money. Must must must try.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
1. Their food is below average. Even their simplest dish (black daal) tasted nothing like what is expected and had a bitter and tangy flavor. Perhaps it wasn't fresh
2. I ordered a vegetarian thaali (combo). The portions are generous and I could not finish the food. I asked for a take out container for 5 items plus one naan - and I was given two tiny containers. The owner lady refused to give me more containers - or a thaali take out container. She said - that container is for take out only. I think it is criminal wasting food. I hate doing that. But thanks to this inconsiderate greedy owner, I had to leave food behind.
3. The naan and roti - a staple of any Indian restaurants was unappetizing and laced with dripping oil. Not even ghee.

Just not worth the money paid. Never again. Bengali sweets is not too far - their food is excellent.

I ordered Chicken curry thali from here which came with 2 vegetable options. Seems like they were in a hurry and forgot to add salt in palak paneer. It tasted as if it was out of a can.

I tried Chana Bhatura and Amritsari Kulcha with Chana. The food was good. The price is worth it for the quantity you get (7.99$) each. I tried Cham Cham too which I would say is not bad! The taste was good, heavy and filling! Good food! Customer service must be improved. Employees here need to know the value of the customer!

Halwa Poori is Amaaaaazing!
Today the service was slow we had to wait over 30 mins for food n basic chai.but hopefully it's a one time thing.

Omg try their bun tikki. I loved it. It tasted just like a desi Indian burger. Bhatura chana amritsari naan were also delectable just chana with them were more like regular chane that we eat with naan, it lacked that special flavor and was lacking that thickness in the gravy.
And sweets, i tried 2-3 didn't like them. Its good for snacking only.

Today i order gobi and aloo prantha, both were not cooked properly and stuffing was less in aloo prantha.

Im not gonna go to this place ever again.got gol gappal and aloo paratha.got sick after 2 years.such a worst place.with worst food.i camt even imagine how horrible pani puri tastes.

The food was straight up horrible and disgusting it tasted like Clorox and some tasted like fungus you can put Clorox disinfectant spray and put this beside it and it would taste the same and the fungus in the goblejam. The customer service was horrible as the worker that was helping us kept on asking if we want 1 lb when we said constantly said we did not. And then we took the sweets in the car and trued them and not even 30 seconds later we went back inside and requested a refund as it tasted like fungus and Clorox the owner is so rude and in the end we did not even get a refund we just threw it out in there trash in front of them

unless you are looking to get sick and hostile behaviour and get ripped off!

Used to visit this place quite often and last night I ordered tandoori chicken tikka had to wait 45 mins after the order, and the product got after the wait was really disappointing. Even the rubber might feel soft in front of the chicken tikka that I got. The quality of the chicken seems like it’s been months old. Very disappointed with the experience.

The quality of stuff is average or below average. Samosas are ok, the Red saunth chutney is good. Chhole bhature are quiet good. Rest of stuff is average

Pathetic customer service ever!

Paid for 4 samosas and just received 2 of them in my takeout order. Upon a call back for the complaint, the lady just didn't bother to apologize; instead got rude and was expecting me to pay the delivery charges to get them delivered to my doorstep. To hell with 2$, was just expecting a good customer support.

I was never expecting to demean you or make you feel sorry on the public platform.

I am a customer and it is my right to complain, if i am not offered the service for the amount i am paying.

Moreover, i was never offered the reimbursement through the interac or the complementary samosa’s for the next time over the phone call. The lady on the phone call was just being discourteous and not optimistic to resolve the matter.

Please don’t publish things which you never said or did for me as a customer.

No Courtesy to NOT sell an item which is INCOMPLETE or OUTDATED.

Purchased Pharatas which were burned with TON of toxic charcoal on each an every Pharatas (Flatbread) Totally UNHEALTHY!

Curry Pakora was INCOMPLETE with ZERO Pakoras. And NO courtesy in NOT SELLING an incomplete item or atleast REDUCING the PRICE.

It's like going to MCDONALD'S and ordering a BIG MAC with NO PATTY!

Ordered about 2 pounds of Indian Sweets which was ROTTEN, DRY & OUTDATED!

Their lazy behavior will make people SICK. Maybe then they'll improve their products & service?

First of all, you are feeling SORRY just to cover up because I have updated my bad experience and review for your restaurant.

Secondly, I totally understood about the human error, but at that time you got so offended to me about this concern and started getting rude.

Moreover, you never offered anything as described above such as reimbursement or complementary samosa’s.

I was just trying to explain one simple thing over the phone call that I missed some items and I do think that it is my right as a customer to receieve the best services for the money I paid.

Our go to place for sweets! We absolutely love their sweets, they’ve got a huge variety of sweets you can choose from. It’s always fresh! Price is super reasonable as well! Glad we found this place, do try their channa samosa as well! It’s super gooood! Highly recommend it, if you’re in the area looking to have some fresh Indian sweets, do check them out!

Me and my family got food poisoning from the sweets and butter chicken and they were vary rude please do not buy food from here and they did not cover their noses plus to add to the load the washrooms were nasty

Ordered 5 plates channa bhatura on 11 dec, chana was old and spoilt just ate one spoon and realised it was spoiled, everyone who ate that got food poisoning, do not recommend going to this restaurant.

They need to do a better job of enforcing the mask mandate! Two people from the kitchen stepped out with food in hand for customers, both of them didn’t have a mask on. The cashier/server was often seen with her mask down to her chin while handling food.unacceptable. Went there for the first time to get samosas, lady told me it would take 15-20 mins but it ended up taking 35+ mins. I noticed there was no chutney with the samosa, I later found out we have to buy that separately. As a first time customer, how am I supposed to know chutney isn’t provided like most restaurants? Cashier should have asked if I would like chutney on the side with my samosas as that’s all that I ordered rather than me finding when I’m already home.

We had amritsari kulcha and makhni daal. It was tasty.
The papdi chat could have been a lilttle better.

This restaurant had very authentic north Indian taste and fresh food. Samosa was the best combination of spices. However lately samosa is less spicy.which i understand they want to reach wider foodies.but in the process they are loosing authenticity. Samosa price rose 25 cent in 1 year.

I went to go buy sweets during Diwali. They literally served me burnt Jalebi and told me that's how Jalebi is made in India. Then the owner tells me people in India love eating burnt Jalebi. The logic!

I liked there Chole Bhture, Good quality & quantity. I always go there specially for chole Bhture

I used to be India Sweets customer for Amritsari Kulcha, but the quality of food has really been degraded. Kulcha was like bread, not even close to Real Kulcha.

Food taste great and service is good too. Seating capacity is a little low but overall great experience.

The food is passable. The owner is ignorant and rude. When asked a question about the size of boxes being offered, he was rude and claimed we were wasting his time.

I visited this restaurant last week abd i oredered amritsari kulcha and cholle bahtore and it was 10/10 fresh, great taste severed with achar, chutney and good salada but when I visited today again ordered same thinga.it was 0/10 even the food wasn’t warm no chutney no achar it was same amount of channa and amritsari kulcha with just onions totally disgusting. I didn’t complain them because there were yelling with other customers with same issues. And when i was leaviyi observed different customer was served with full plate of amritsari kulcha which was missing from my plate. Never goona visit this place again

Avoid this restaurant! There are way better ones in Scarborough, it's worth the drive.

India Sweets and Restaurant deserve a 0/5 for food quality and a 0/5 for customer service.

I ordered besan (a type of Indian sweet) from here for the first time. When I opened the box, I was hit with a really weird smell indicating it was not fresh at all. It also had a horrible aftertaste. After calling them, I was told I could return it but when I visited, I was told it couldn't be returned/exchanged at all.

Great service and food the employee helped me to get food evening at closing hours. It was really tasty

Just picked up Samoosas, they were hot. But soon realized that the potato inside was spoilt. How can a restaurant do this. They were stale, probably many, days old and was just re-cooked and sold. A big disappointment. Will think twice before visiting them again.

I went there for my paneer pakora craving, so I got some but when I opened the box some parts of the food was discoloured and seemed liked two days old. AThere was a very small amount of paneer stuffed as well. I was disappointed for the food that I received.

Twice bad experience. Once I had asked for Kaju KatlI and they gave me Kaju Barfi for my office party. Recent experience was very bad and they have a don't care attitude. As a door dasher, they kept me waiting for 45 minutes for an order, that's the longest wait ever. There were other pickup people who came after me and left. They told me it will take 10 minutes and refered to other person who just ignored me and was serving walking customers. The explanation being big order and no apologies to keep me waiting.

Food Taste is not different from the every other corner indian restro. I went to this place today with my relatives who came from States and it was a “total dissapointment”. Two stars only for Rabri Faluda which was better.

Good variety of items available in store. Reasonable prices. Management can probably “manage” the orders better as staff might miss serving your order for over 20-25min during rush hours.

It's a nice place to have a good dine-in experience for indian food. Place has a nice seating arrangement. Quality of food is much better than other Indian restaurants. 5 star for ambience n quality n price of food

Worst experience ever. The lady owner is so rude and don't even care about her customers. She behaves like she is giving money to the customers for buying food. Prices are way too high than the quantity and the waiting time Is too high. Comparatively Bengali sweets is farther best place to visit. Low prices with good quantity. Their best part is Channa-Samosa and the worst part is Veggie Thali - Their thali is tasteless its just a medium of turning your tummy upto full. Moreover the mai manager lady always say its fresh food but the one who eat and makes the same stuff usually at their home knows the best taste of thali, so she just say their is best but its worst.

Save yourself a trip. Ordered a few thali's and Chana bhaturas and was extremely dissatisfied. The food is tasteless and the portions are extremely small. The quality has just gone down the drain with the new owner. Save your money and time.

The food is good quality that's why 3 star. Their quantity is horrible. Their portion are not enough for one adult and same kind of food and different places have so much quantity that you will be full. The place gives you 2 piece of naan with the full Thali a bit of rice. They expect you to order everything Extra even though you lay like almost $10 for a Thali. The place is not that upscale to charge that kind of money. Their washroom is very smelly and horrible

Order via Uber Eats only because my favourite Indian spot was closed. I ordered the subject item, extra spicy. I received a flavourful tasting, not spicy, gravy-less, super oily dish with poor cuts of chicken. I thought that I'd give it a second chance, until I got sick the next day. I would not order again.

Went to buy kebob roll and came home to find two kebobs wrapped around nan with no condiments. Called and excuse was we were busy that's why.
Not going there ever again.

Don't bother. New owners have brought this place down! The food isn't good; the curry is frozen not fresh. The jalebi was old and not fresh at alll. When we called to complain - the lady was so rude - worst customer service. WAY over priced. They increased their prices by a LOT.

This place used to be a gem - the OLD owners were the best.

The lady owner is so rude. They are always lost and donot care for their customers. Sometimes they forget to pack and other time they give you half the quantity what you asked for. When you call them and tell them about their mistake the lady said sorry and disconnected my phone on my face and never picked the phone wen i called her back. Last time i ordered bhature chhole and the lady brought them out in a second saying we made it right now. I would suggest to always check ur things before you exit the store because later when u call them they say you didnot get the stuff from our store. I would never recommend the store not because of the food but the misbehave they do with their customers.

Today I tried Goat Biryani. I should say it was delicious and the quality was damn good.the meat was tender and spices enhanced the taste of the rice.my suggestion is you guys should try it once and if your sensitive to spicy request them to make it mild.thumps up
