I ordered the spiciest dish on the menu- this is perhaps the spiciest meal I've ever fully enjoyed, tears running down my face! A deep and complex flavour under all the heat, each bite was delicious!
Great food with a great range of options on the menu. Ordered takeout, and it was a long wait for the order; however, it all came out hot and fresh, so it was well worth the wait!
Well run, clean, friendly, high quality food — substantial meat portions. Note that this (as far as I know but I’m not an expert) is more South Indian than North Indian food.
Hands down the BEST Indian Food in the area! Jackie is very hospitable and ensures your dining experience will be great. If stock is available, they have Kingfisher Beer, which is a nice treat that you don't see often. Highly Recommend!
Eating here once again, now making my way through their signature dishes: jalfrezi, coconut curry, and more. All of them wonderful and distinct. The chef prepares the sauces to order it appears, and despite having some common ingredients, each sauce is very distinct in spice and flavour. Looking forward to continuing my menu journey!
Great food at a great value! The very friendly and accommodating staff provide exemplary service. Fantastic Indian food bursting with flavour! Would highly recommend.
I’ve never had an issue at this restaurant, we always reserve for dinner knowing they are busy and never go anywhere to eat at 8pm. If anyone needs to eat that late go to McDonalds. Reason being is their food takes time to make and to place an order at 8pm is ridiculous. Have some courtesy.
What a heck of a find, and in Ancaster of all places (no offence Ancasterians if that’s what you’re called, Google couldn’t provide me the answer)! Made fresh, authentic and affordable for a wonderful dine in experience with great hospitality and interior design. Lamb rogan josh was FILLED to the brim and was tenderly flavourful in all ways with the accompanying rice and veggies combo! Delicious onion naan to scoop up the remaining butter, and a memorable ras malai dessert that was refreshing and light.
Utterly dissapointed with the food. The lababdar chicken was dry and undercooked and same goes with the phulkari chicken tikka. The aloo tikki was okay.
Thurs dinner with friends. Everything was wonderful except for the time it took to deliver our meal. So slow they delivered complementary appetizers but gave no explanation. Finally the meals were fabulous all around.
Worst experience I've had in a restaurant in years. The owner has to get off her high horse and get better service. I asked server if they had a particular dish three times and still didn't come back to tell me. I had to ask the owner as she walked bye telling me very arrogantly no. I sat for 20 minutes without being served Finally another waitress walked by and I asked her if I could order. Never saw my waitress until I had enough and got up paid my bill I heard the owner say he's upset because they didn't have that dish.no because I was ignored. If I could give it a zero I would Moghuls is so much better. Never again will I step foot in India Village again.
WOWOW! First time we tried and we'll be back for sure! Absolutely delicious dinner. The lamb was tender. Plates are fulfilling. If you ask for spicy, it is going to be! Great friendly service. Nice discovery in Ancaster Village.
This is a go-to for us. We always get the chicken tikka masala and lamb korma. It’s one of our all-time favourite meals. The best korma we have ever had. Big portions, we always have left overs. The vegetable pakoras and onion bhajis are delicious too. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for take out so call early, but it is always worth it.
Amazing food. We have ordered from VOI many times, it is consistently great and the food is of a very high quality. Village of India is by far the best of the many Indian restaurants we have tried over the years.
I love love love this place. We were traveling from Canada to USA and thought of stopping for lunch. Based on the reviews we chose this place. For every single item we ordered I would give a 10 star rating. Everything was fresh. The owner is so sweet and we ordered her recommendations. We will definitely come here again. Thank you
Food was fantastic, I had a lunch platter. Our server was an eloquent and charming, she was friendly but gave us an appropriate amount of space. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Ancaster.
The restaurant is fabulous, the food is very very delicious. We had Jalfrezi chicken with garlic naan and it was unbelievably tasty. The owner and the staff are super friendly and meticulous at their job, the ambiance is very traditional, do not miss this place if you are around:)
The best food in Ancaster! We eat here regularly, exceptional food and customer service! The owner is always so welcoming and goes over and beyond to make each dining experience enjoyable!
So impressed - wish we’d walked through their doors much sooner! The food was delicious - excellent quality, made fresh, beautiful presentations. Portions perfect; enough to leave you full but with just a little bit left. You’ll be tempted to finish it all because it just tastes so good, but you’ll decide you want to thoroughly enjoy every last bite and so you’ll bring it home for the following day. Nice atmosphere, polite and attentive service where multiple staff check in on you to ensure you’re satisfied. Already looking forward to next time! Highly recommend a visit to this location in Downtown Ancaster.
I think this is the best Indian food outside of the GTA. I just found them recently, and have been eating here exclusively since. Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Biryani are fantastic.
Very good food! Very busy restaurant but the quality of food is worth the wait. Price was also great for the portions. We ordered medium in spice and it has some heat. Great spot!
I tried calling before physically going for the order. And I reached at 8: 05pm and I was being told that our kitchen is closed. This doesn't make any sense to me. For pick up orders I would give 1 start. I don't know about their dine in service.
Very bad service. I made the reservation for 7: 10pm and reached their on time. After waiting for more than an hour, we left. After 20 mins the person from the restaurant came and said that food is almost ready. I was more pissed off than as after waiting for more than 1: 30 mins my food was still not ready. And the worst is no one informed us about the delay even after the reservations. Food might be good but the service is horrible. No one came to my table for first 20 mins, for water or anything. And I couldn't see any staff to place my order and as for a glass of water.
Never the less, in the 1 hour wait time I could see staff members giving out many-many take out orders and the people sitting inside the restaurant dying of hunger.
Changing my review from 5 stars to 4. Food is still phenomenal but the service was abysmal and incredibly slow. Maybe they need to hire more kitchen staff. There was a lot of takeout coming. The restaurant was empty but the hostess told us we can’t be seated for COVID reasons. However 60-70% of the tables were empty so the only reason I can think of is all the takeout… so I didn’t appreciate that. Guess takeout is the way to go
I am very satisfied with the quality of service, the food was divine too. Since I last had it, I have been craving more and I can confidently say that I still taste the naan and have never come across better naan in my life. If you are traditional Indian blood, I highly recommend doing medium spice level as mild is more on the sweet side. Would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could. Thank u very much for the food.
Thanks for your reply Chef. As I mentioned food quality can really be improved. But I would also like to mention that we were not rude to any server staff, instead after specifically requesting that please don't bring everything together, we were served with everything at once. Our Roti/ Naan became stiff, we were not able to eat our starter once still we didn't do anything or not say anything to staff. We just gave review for the food and not the service to them. So, if you provide quality service and food nobody would have to give negative review. Plus it was someone's birthday from the group and we were really disappointed.
This is the place, in fact I like to think this is my place! The place that I crave and often think about! Hummm I wish I had my Lamb Korma right now. Spicy That's right, Chef Nick knows how to do it!
I have a few things to say first thing being I want to command you and you staff for all the hard work, short Staff, crazy Covid ugh what a nightmare and you still deliver amazing quality dishes full of flavor that you I the mouth!
You guys work so hard day after day to try and make sure every customer is happy! I want to thank you for all that hard work that you, your family and your staff do during this time of uncertainty in this industry it is tough in the best of times.
I will say this. After a long day of driving from Muskoka and a Hot day of work. I will Order my food and wait for as long as it takes. Why because this is my place, It's my go-to and it's totally worth it!
Thank you for the amazing Dinner last night! Already thinking about next time. Question does Uber deliver to Muskoka? Lol
Good food, bad service. Don't trust their hours, call early if you want to actually order because they seem to arbitrarily change their hours and close whenever they please.
Edit: called back the third day in a row to attempt order. Called at 530. They tell me they're taking orders for 8pm (but the "kitchen closed" at 7 on Thursday and 730 on Friday.) also, they don't have garlic naan and aren't able to make any/put garlic on the regular naan in the 2.5hrs it'll take to prepare our order. I think they've realized they have a monopoly on Indian food in the area
Was told this is a top spot for Indian food so recently made an early order for a later delivery time through Uber Eats. I was notified 30 minutes before delivery, that the order was not processed by India Village. Disappointed with the communication.
Last Saturday me and my family traveled all the way from Vaughan to try out their food. It was 160 km back and forth, I took that extra ride coz we were recommended. It was a complete shock for us coz we found the food extremely terrible and hopeless. To start with they never had non veg appetizers nor any soup. We were told coz of less crowd, covid period they aren't offering which is understandable. Finally we got 1 veg appetizer. For the main course we ordered chicken combo with rice, veg curry and salad and also we ordered shrimp curry with naan. Veg curry was awful, salad was watery looked as if they prepared way way back. Chicken wasn't cooked at all, shrimp gravy and chicken gravy had same miserable taste. And lastly not to forget THE NAAN wasn't cooked at all I repeat at all. We complaint about it right away to the staff and the owner and they apologize for the experience and advised not to pay. But my point was not money they ruined our evening. Moreover it was our 12th wedding anniversary. In these 12 years in Canada this is the worst food I ever had in a restaurant. Would never ever visit this place.pathetic. For the food they deserve 0 star but I don't have that option.
Delicious take out! This place has the best Indian food you can find around here. Very tasty food and excellent service. I'd recommend this restaurant for those who love authentic Indian food.
AMAZING FOOD Excellent service, the owner is lovely & Delightful. Beautiful I'm coming back over & over & over. I love the ambiance, & a bonus Bathrooms were very clean & modern Thank you India Village ️
Just picked up my take-out order (almost $70 worth). Never heard a " thank you" or "come back again" from the woman behind the counter who has an exaggerated sense of self-worth. The food is great, but talking down to the staff, not acknowledging and appreciating the customer can ruin the experience.
Really good Indian food. Decor was nice and looked clean and modern. Wait staff was pleasant and food served quickly hot and fresh. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant.
Bought 4 pieces of naan and when I got home and looked at the order they cut two pieces of naan in half and charged me for 4. Why don’t you just say okay this is what the price of one full naan? It’s like cutting a semosa in half and charging people for two samosas. I tipped them $20 for a pickup and this is the first time in my like I regret tipping someone. Don’t go there I sure won’t be going back. There are other honest restaurants around I’ll be taking money anywhere but here. I hate leaving bad reviews but I rely on other people’s reviews when choosing where to eat so here it is. Do what you will with this information
I had dinner. I love the food and service. Enjoyed a lot and food was so delicious. Especially onion Nan. I would love to come for food all the way from Etobicoke. Toronto.
Cant comment on dining experience as i ordered takeout but the food was delicious. Not some cheap indian food place, the food is actually authentic. Lunch special is reasonably priced too.
I have been going to this restaurant for years. I have not had a less than perfect meal every time. The food is always consistent and fresh. The owner Jackie always comes to your table and asks how you have enjoyed your meal. The service is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. The best Indian food I have ever tasted.
Awesome place to visit and work. I really miss this place. Food is very tasty. Skilled owner knows that how to meet the expectations of people.anyone can enjoy their visit to India village Ancaster.
Beautiful place, dishes were delicious, ordered tikka hariyali with lamb, I've said it's ok if it's spicy, this thing was burning my mouth, tears running down my face and I was chugging bottles like I've been wandering a desert for days, very nice experience, would definitely go again
Best Indian food in Canada so far. I have not had this delicious Indian food even in Brampton or Mississauga. The service is fast and superior. Welcoming staff.
I’ve been coming to India Village for a few years now and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Without a doubt India Village provides the most authentic and flavourful Indian cuisine in the city. The location is great and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is authentic and classy, providing for a very nice vibe. On weekends this place gets pretty busy so I would recommend calling to make reservations, even it’s for the day of. If you are with a group, I’d recommend starting with a few orders of Onion Bhaji, which are like fried onion fritters. The Curries that I’ve tried include: Masala, Korma, and Madras (spicy). The curries are extremely tasty, and can be ordered with prawns, lamb, beef, or chicken. Also be sure to try both the Naan and Bhatura breads.
This restuarant is a must try if you love Indian cuisine!
The scale of spice is too high. We had hot food but seems like we're having hotter one. I would recommend to have medium level otherwise the food is really good. Great job done.
Always an excellent choice! Front of house is of top quality! With staff hanging on to your every request! There is nothing too much for them to do for you in order to give you quality service! Then there is the food, choose what ever your needs are, you will always be more than satisfied! Both with flavour and quality of your food, done to your taste! Thus when you have had your fill you will always want to return, with friends and relatives alike!
