4 years ago I rated this spot 5 stars. It was once a staple in the community with high quality, taste, portion and good price. Over recent years with new owners, increasing prices and lower quality, the restaurant is no longer living up to the name that they have carried on. Have been very disappointed with recent orders, so we will not return.
We are from US, stayed in Toronto for our thanksgiving holiday and Insadong Korean Restaurant made our holiday even better! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with all the foods we ordered. Jjajang noodles and Tangsuyuk were great! My kids are foodies and they all really enjoyed it. I had Seafood jeongol and its spicyness was strong but not overwhelming as well as being a very flavorful spice. My wife had Galbi and I tried some. It was very tasty, the ribs were tender, moist, and full of flavor. Portions are even plentiful as well. On top of the amazing food, the staff was very friendly. If you're in the area or a fan of Korean food/cultured dishes this is a "must go to" restaurant. Thanks for for making me and our family feel the atmosphere of a Korean neighborhood restaurant for the first time in a while!
If there's a 0 I will give 0. The food was expensive. We ordered seafood hotpot and grilled pork. We paid 39.99 for grilled pork belly and the server said it's 400 grams but honestly it doesn't look like 400 grams of pork belly it looks more of 6 slices of thin bacon. It's so sad people lie to you to ripped you off. If you want value for your money try to find another Korean restaurant. Daldongnae Korean BBQ is a good price for grilled pork and 88 PalPal Gamjatang for other Korean dishes.
Probably one of my most favourite Korean spots around. They give you great servings, delicious food, and pay close attention to any notes you may have for orders. I order here via UberEats probably once a week (LOL) and I am impressed every time! I'm so glad there is a delicious place close by. Plus their sides are super yummy!
I would come by everyday if i didnt live 40 minutes away. Everyone is so welcoming and nice, and everything on the menu is so so good. Ive never been to a restaurant where Ive felt like I was having a meal with a close friend in the way that you are just relaxed and so comfortable. On my life every meal and every dish feels like a favourite from childhood that you’re tasting again for the first time. Matter of fact I’ll see you guys tomorrow?
Insadong is our neighbourhood-go-to for good Korean food. The food is rustic and delicious. Recently there was a change in owners, and I was worried the food would be affected, but it still tastes great. The service is friendly, and its nice to see friendly faces and great service from Brenda.
Really nice service! I though staff was lovely. We liked the kalbi and the portions were great. However we didn't find the pork bone soup very flavourful.
Amazing neighborhood Korean restaurant, we've been coming for 5 years now and can always count on a delicious, authentic food. Service is always so lovely and amazing. We even forgot my son's books on the table and a server ran out after us to return them!
I love this Mom & Pop type Korean restaurant in Islington Village! Sam & Soo are wonderful owners, their service is amazing & their food is so delicious. I've dined-in and had take-out experiences especially to satisfy those work lunch cravings. Their food is consistent and portion sizes are generous. They also do party trays for those last-minute potluck options!
I've had their dumplings, tempura, bulgogi, cold noodles, etc. - everything is so good. My favourite is definitely their soon tofu and cold noodles. It just hits the spot for craving authentic Korean dishes! The portion sizes are such a bonus, especially for the Tonkatsu dish.
They have quite the space inside the restaurant to easily fit a party of 8. Interior is plain, but the customer service Soo & her employees provide is what makes the place shine. They will chat with you to get to know her customers. I appreciate this extra passionate touch!
Tip: Free parking is in the back (don't get confused with the Dollarama entrance next to it cause it's not exactly "connected").
Absolutely amazing experience! I ordered Bibimbap which comes with rice and sides as well as Gamjatang (pork bone soup). Both dishes were perfect! I would highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Korean cuisine. The service is wonderful and you really get bang for your buck. The quality of the food is fresh and exquisite. The prices are very reasonable as compared to other restaurants of this caliber. Most of all the serving sizes are very generous AND the food is tasty! If you appreciate Korean cuisine you MUST go here. If I could give them 6 stars, I would. I can't wait to go back for more ;)
Good Soon Tofu (Spicy seafood tofu soup) but the Kalbi could be a bit more seasoned and on the grill a bit longer. Portions were great though. Would definitely be back to try other dishes once they are open for dining again. Kimchi was particularly good. Not too spicy or sour.
Came here multiple times and the food was always delicious. Cute spot to bring your date or your friends. The owners are so kind and the service is great! Love the tteokbokki and the pork bone soup!
OMG…the most delicious food I’ve had in such a long time. I watch a lot of Korean street food YouTube videos and have always wanted to try to food even though I’m not Korean so I thought I’d stop by this place. The pork bone soup = heaven. Always wanted to try tteokbokki and it was sooooo good considering I only watched it being prepared on YouTube. The beef bulgogi was so yummy. I live near this place and I’m going to go again! The lady who helped me was lovely too, very friendly and amicable. Overall great experience.
Absolutely the best pork lunches I have had in the area! If you are looking for a great lunch spot, this place cannot be beat! Happy to be supporting this local gem!
Ordered takeout, and everything was delicious! We had the Beef short ribs, Kimchi Stew and Bibimbap - honestly everything was great, this will be on our takeout list again! Totally recommend ordering from here!
My wife and I have eaten in and taken out many times at Insadong over the last few years. We love it! This is a wonderful family run business that makes the greatest Korean food. Highly recommended!
Delicious and hearty food. Their kimchi is perfect for people who don’t do well with spicy food, but still enjoy flavour. The japchae is glorious, and the Agedashi Tofu is delightful.
A weekly if not bi-weekly staple for our family during pandemic this past year. The food travels well for delivery. I do miss those dine-in days though. Our “always-to-order” are the soon tofu soup, soy bean paste soup, beef dumpling soup, and beef bibimbap. My toddler son absolutely loves their caramelized potato appetizer! (when they do serve it). The people who run the restaurant are super nice! You can taste it in their food as well - home made with care. Not overly salty. Just right.:)
I ordered online with skipthedishes. Bibimbap dish was awful and there wasn't much rice let alone vegetables. I won't be ordering again from this place.
Wonderful home-style Korean food without having to go to Koreatown! The owners are lovely and were very accomodating for our two young kids. Varying levels of spicyness according to your taste. The glass noodles are our favorite!
I had issues with Uber eats. I put my old address and need to change it. Uber eats site recommended that I cancel my order and re-order again. I was charged on my credit card for cancelation. The owers daughter called the business Uber eat line and resolved the issue. They went up and beyond to help me out. I highly recommend skip the dishes or door dash.
They offer a great variety of delicious food. I love dining here. The employees are always super nice, pricing is affordable and the place is always well organised.
Quality is not the same before Covid-19. I did not finish my soup. Hopefully it’s just a one time thing because service is amazing. Owner is very friendly and the place clean.
If you are wanting Korean food similar to downtown Christie area, but on the west end, this is what you are looking for.
A little more expensive, and they have a different experience for larger groups wanting to share communal bowls of gamjatang or soon tofu.
My experience was just single portions. Some of the other Korean places in Mississauga and Christie do it better (especially the broth) but in an area that is a desert for authentic Korean food, this place is an oasis, able to sooth your Korean food cravings.
The foods are really delicious and the price and quantity is just right! (Delicious side dishes also!) The owner and staff are the sweetest people you will ever meet. The owner seems to really love kids and just a lovely person in general. When we left the babys shoe on a restaurant by accident, one of the staff ran to find us and gave the shoe back! Overall, very pleasant experience, it is our go to korean restaurant now.
I've been here a few times and keep coming back for more. This is a great little restaurant, with fantastic service and amazing food. Can't get enough of the Korean Dumplings and Kan Poong Gi! Already looking forward to my next visit.
Service is good. Food not so good. We were surprised by all their 5 star reviews. We always go to many different korean restaurants but he food here was one of the worst ones. 3 star for the service.
Food was mediocre and was quote disappointing as to the reviews seemed to be why I went. We ordered the glass noodle and it was so salty and had to ask the servers numerous of times for water
This is one of those humble Mom-and-Pop Korean restaurants with tasty food and friendly owners/workers - the type of people you want to support.
The decor is plain, but the main walls at the back of the restaurant were decorated with drawings (presumably by customers). The seating was adequate and the space is more spacious than it looks from the outside. Our party of 3 was seated right away. The menu is not extensive, but you can find something that will suit your tastes and cravings. Portion sizes were perfect - not too much (like many Korean restaurants) and not too little. We ordered bibimbap, yukgaejang and ddukbbokki. We had 6 vegetarian side dishes brought out shortly before our meals. The food arrived FAST (less than 10 minutes)!
Overall, excellent experience. Service was polite. Food was delicious and well-priced. Would come back!
