Good place to stay, staff were great, however the parking situation due to the road works on the street was a nightmare, nonetheless it's a nice place to stay

My second visit has changed my review from 4 to 5 star. The valet service was much improved. The check in seamless. The room fantastic. Water temp and pressure excellent. The only issue is construction at the moment makes accessing the hotel a bit of an issue travelling from the east. We had some awesome drinks at Proof served by a wonderful young gentleman who crafted our drinks with care. Prices still steep but pour was generous. We had a corner suite which was clean and well appointed. Bed was dreamy and I slept very well. Paid about $385 CAD. Expensive but these are the times. Would return.

Stayed here for 5 nights with the whole family for a friend's wedding. Very good hotel. Amazing staff and the cleaning was prompt and respectful. Free water at the front desk. All the little things that count. Pool was great. Kid friendly.

Had a great stay at the Royal Sonesta this week. Hotel has been overhauled during the pandemic and felt fresh and new. Shout out to Ronald who has worked there for 19 years! Love it when a single awesome employee has such a positive impact on your experience. Would recommend. Hard to comment on value given the insanity of accommodation pricing these days.

This boutique hotel is very conveniently if you are down for shopping on Yorkville. The rooms and amenities are high quality and clean. Service is excellent.

Stayed for a 50th birthday celebration and confirmed with front desk three times that it would be no problem for our group to have pre dinner drinks in the Proof Bar. However, when our group of 10 arrived, the bar was closed for a private event leaving us to scramble! Unacceptable considering the entrance to the bar is 20 feet away from the front desk staff that provided assurances we could meet there. Essentially this rendered our $30 hotel credit useless. Disappointing

Fantastic accommodation in a clean and modern hotel with a nice breakfast buffet and amazing staff! While I did miss specific amenities in the room, (I.e. A microwave), the location can't be beat, as the ROM is right across the street, along with U of T. You are also smack dab in between two subway lines and five minutes walking from all the shopping and dining you can ask for in Yorkville. It is perfectly situated right on Bloor, with a Shoppers next door which is perfect for any essentials you need during your trip. Next time you are in Toronto, do yourself and your loved ones a favor and stay here, you will not be disappointed!

Bonus, if you get a room on the 8th floor on the south facing side of the hotel, you'll get fabulous views of the CN Tower!

It was such a lovely experience and perfect location for everything I had going on during that weekend.
The staff was so friendly, nice and helpful.
During my meals at Proof, I had a conversation with Shlok who was amazing to talk to and made sure that the kitchen accommodated all my dietary needs and preferences.
Every meal I had at the restaurant left me with a delightful smile on my face.
Thomas, my server and bartender was absolutely knowledgeable as well when Shlok wasn’t around.
Nancy the housekeeper was such a joy. And had a funny story almost every time I saw her.
Furthermore, the gentleman who brought up my meals to the room, he was so lovely and made sure that the food was prepared to my liking.
As a black woman dining and staying at the hotel alone, it’s great to feel safe, catered to and that the staff actually care for you to have a great experience and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure that.
I also wanted to express my gratitude to the front desk staff who were so helpful and for help with checking out and to accommodate my belongings for the time that I had another event to attend later that evening.

Great location, great room and great management! After finding a used Kleenex in my room, management quickly moved me to another room. They were understanding and quickly settled the situation. Later I was pleasantly surprised by a chocolate cake and sparkling water. Thank you for that. I very impressed with how quickly they wanted to ensure I was comfortable. Now the reason I give the hotel 4 stars is that parking is not included. We payed 50$ for municipal parking. And this isn’t mentioned in the hotel description. When I filtered to have parking included the hotel popped up. Always call and ask. And they put water in the room that is only complementary for members (not us) Please don’t do that, it’s rude, you should know who is a member when u get the reservations. Regardless of the parking issue. Thank you management for the quick room change, politeness and delicious gift.

They are doing renovations which they were very upfront about. They upgraded our room which was nice. The staff were friendly and the hotel is in a great location. Would go back when the renovations are completed.

Staff was great but the hotel seems a bit outdated. They are currently under renovations will stay again if ever I go to Canada again.

Thank you for your wonderful staff, they took very good care of us from the minute we walked in the door, until the minute we left. They were so friendly and supportive. They were eager to please and very informative.

The rooms were tidy and great room temperature. The bathrooms were big and spacious.

The swimming pool was well kept, and an added bonus to our stay.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Thank you for being awesome!

Love this place. I stay for a work event once a year and everything is great. I especially like how the pool area was open late into the night since my event always runs late.

Great included breakfast. Was able to get full room cleaning everyday even though we often left our room after 3/4pm. Central location across from the Royal Ontario Museum and close to both major subway lines.

I was quite unhappy with my two most recent experiences. The first was for a reservation from Monday Jan 28 to Tuesday 29,2019. No one told me when I phoned to make that reservation that the building was undergoing renovations and guests could expect loud construction noise throughout the day. I only learned of this when I checked in, and since I had to be away from my room for work for most of the 29th, I put up with the noise (though it was very loud and disruptive). I did, however, ask the desk clerk upon check-out whether or not there would be renovations going on during my next stay, which I'd already booked for a vacation the weekend of Feb 8-10. Since that visit was going to be for leisure, I did *not* want to be dealing with the loud drilling, hammering, etc. I was reassured that no, there would not be renovations occurring on weekends. Then, when I showed up for check-in Feb 8, I was told that there would indeed be renovation work going on throughout the weekend! No one had notified me of this in advance and I was especially frustrated given I'd explicitly asked about this exact issue on Jan 29th and would not have kept my reservation had I known there would be construction noise during my stay. I was not offered anything to compensate for the disruption until I asked, at which point, after the desk clerk consulted his manager, I was offered a discount on that weekend's stay and breakfast. In the end, though, rather than deal with noise disturbances on my vacation, I decided to scramble to find an alternate hotel, which was not easy so last-minute, and with no assistance from Intercontinental. I am so disappointed in the way in which this hotel managed this issue. I understand renovations need to occur, but why over the weekend when your guests are mostly leisure guests? And why, when I asked about weekend renovations in advance so that I could make alternate arrangements if needed, was the staff dishonest? If, giving Intercontinental the benefit of the doubt, it only came to light that weekend work would be needed after my inquiry on the 29th, then why not notify your guests who were already booked? I frequently travel to Toronto (including two separate stays in the coming weeks) and will sadly not be returning to this hotel. - Kamila P

Impecable hotel. Our friends enjoyed their stay very much. The food and room service is top notch. Highly recommended at the heart of Toronto's nicest neighborhood. It's close to restaurants, subway, attractions.
03 March 2019 5:15
Hotel is clean. BUT I found it weird that there is not any microwave in the rooms for heating up food or drinks! I asked the service desk to let me use a microwave to heat up my food but I have been told "Unfortunately we are not allowed to do that! Really? ! This is totally unacceptable.
Other than that, everything els was as u expect to have in a 4 star hotel.

Great space, nice clean rooms, close to the ROM and food. No on-site parking, but you can park in the back area near the subway for $36 or valet for $45 (leave and come as much as you want for valet, worth it if your there for more then 1 day).

The staff here are amazing. First, enormous thanks to Lionel the assistant office manager; Emma and Aline at the front desk; Antonio in the lobby, and Vincent the coolest bellman I have ever met.

I was a mess at check-in. I flew in from a foreign country. I had a long day. I lost my credit card. And, totally my fault, I screwed-up my booking and had not noticed my mistake before I caught my flight.

Of course, I was frustrated and tired (a bad mix). I have no bank in Canada and my flight out was already booked 4 days away. Everyone was sooooo nice. They were great enough to take my info and put me in a room just so I could shower, decompress, and figure this out. Antonio and Vincent had great advice on how to get a needed refreshment and bite to eat.

In the end, with a few phone calls, I was able to figure it out. But I wasn't turned away and no one gave me a hard time. I needed a shower, a beverage, and just to sit so I could make the calls I needed to. And this team of people let me do just that. They are amazing.

It became a 6-day stay. This has to be the best hotel in Toronto. Sure, the place is quality- it's the InterContinental! But it is the staff which made this place the best.

Again, thank you to Lionel, Emma, Aline, Antonio, and Vincent.

Beautiful Hotel, great Valet Service and an amazing view of Bloor Street, (The ROM and CN Tower etc.

The food is always very good and the staff pleasant and we'll trained. For a hotel dining room it is above average.

Beautiful hotel, the water costs way too much though. Can walk down the street and get a bigger bottle of the same brand for 3$
25 December 2018 23:51
Computer system was down when we arrived, so we couldn't be checked in. To compensate for this, we were treated to a free cocktail at Proof (the hotel's vodka bar). Very well crafted cocktails that were as beautiful to regard as they were delicious to sip. Bartender was friendly and went beyond. Rest of stay nice and uneventful. Room was fine, not overly luxurious for the price to be honest, but the linens were nice. I agree with other reviewers that the place is sporting a dated look and needs a makeover. Breakfast at Signatures was very good and the service there was top notch. A positive experience overall and I will be back next time I am feeling flush (it is a bit pricey).

Great location downtown Toronto. One of the best hotel I have stayed. Services worth $200 plus per night charge.

I have stayed at this hotel 10 times in 2018. It's about time I provide a proper review. Long story short excellent hotel in an upscale neighborhood with absolutely fantastic service all around!

Desk staff Aline, Signoree and others are all wonderful! There are always several employees in the lobby, a few doormen, concierge etc. Beautiful entry way and not a massive affair, just classy and straight to the point.

Proof Bar is amazing! The staff are part of the reason for my repeat business. Jaime, Krista, Mandy, Marley and others have all been great hosts on one or more of my stays.

The rooms are very nice. All of the normal features one would expect (except a small refrigerator, not counting mini bar). Bathrooms are great, lots of marble and very fancy. There is a phone next to the toilet if you need it. Shower can feel a little small but the water pressure and steam are its redeeming qualities.

Room service menu is better than most hotels. The room service team is quick and courteous

8th floor is the top floor (kind of a short building compared to the ones around it. There is an indoor pool and gym. I think there is a massage/spa too but have not tried it yet. The pool is basic and no hot tub. Very cool space and has skylights and an ok view. If you get a room facing Bloor Ave you get to see the Royal Ontario Museum and Music conservatory. The contrast of architecture is wonderful!

I am a spire ambassador member this hotel is one of the primary reasons I stay loyal to IHG program.

Stay here!
