Islington Village Animal Hospital

Take both the dog and cat to this clinic. We've only been clients here for a little over a year, but when we had an emergency with our dog, and our long time vet couldn't fit him in, (it was a surgery day, and the second location they had refused to see him), Islington took him in. They treated him and even let my husband stay with him in a quiet room while he waited for me to pick them up! We've had nothing but the best service here. All of the vets and the vet technicians are just amazing. You can tell how much they love animals, it shows with everything they do. They treat pet owners with compassion and respect. It's definitely one of the best clinics we've ever dealt with, and I wish we'd started coming here sooner!

My dog was accidentally fed something she shouldn’t have and I was worried sick! Luckily they were able to book me in right away, reassured me that she’ll be okay.
After the bloodwork was done, the same night, the doctor PERSONALLY called me to let me know that her results were normal just so I would be able to go to sleep with a peace of mind. I highly recommend them!

Truly a great place and staff! We found them when our cat was sick several years ago (we lost trust with our then vet) and they made time for us even though we weren't clients. Dr Spence also confirmed that services strongly pushed by the other vet weren't needed and got our girl back on track again. That one visit convinced us we made the right choice and changed to IVAH. We've had great service & care for our cat, no 'up-selling', and squeezing us in when important, especially appreciated a few days ago. Our cat got I’ll again (18+ yrs old) and Dr Marshall made time for btwn other appts, testing & explaining options, giving us time to decide, and supporting our choice as we realized putting her to sleep was the best, kindest option. No one rushed us out at closing so we had a chance to say our goodbyes without prolonging to the next day. Dr Spence even popped in to give her condolences which was very kind. We will absolutely be back with our next pet.

I love the clinic and everyone there. It is the one place you can be sure they will take care of your pets as their own.
My baby girl (Cat) has been seeing Dr. Hume for years, and I hope that we will continue to visit the clinic for her regular check-ups for years to come!

I will never go here again. My retriever has been patient of Erin Spence for 11 years. She groaned all night bc her back in pain and I called to ask if we could just give her something to be comfortable. They could not spare 15 minutes to help her. Told me to go to emergency. She’s in pain. The whole advertising on phone message that we want to help your pet with stress and pain …. Please! They didn’t return my message- had to call again. This is how you treat your patients of many years. Disgusted and never return here again!

Dr Spence and staff, watched over my little man Nacho for almost 14 years. They were always gentle, kind, considerate and knowledgeable. My little man crossed over the rainbow Bridge in November and I will be eternally greatful for the compassion shown to both Nacho and I. They even sent a donation to The Farley Foundation in honor of my boy, WOW. They are the absolute best. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Today was my first visit with my puppy (Moscow), everyone was so lovely with him. We needed to see a vet asap and they gave us an appointment for the same day. Each time that my bf has a concern, he calls them and they answer right away.

We have since moved 30mins away from Etobicoke and I will forever continue to bring my cat here because it is an amazing clinic. All veterinarians we have dealt with have been friendly and extremely helpful.

I’m a first time pet owner and after seeing the reviews of this hospital, I decided to take my puppy here. All these reviews are 100% authentic. I love how kind and considerate the staff is, the nurses and front desk folks help out a lot and the vet takes out the time to speak to you and address any concerns about your pet! Love this place and so does my Doggo ️

Switching vets because you guys only care about making money rather than actually caring about animals. I would avoid this place.

I just wanted to share that this vet is currently NOT taking new patients. I’ve recently moved to this area and am looking for a new vet for my cat. I found this vet has many of good reviews so I contacted. Unfortunately this place isn’t taking new parents now, but I was able to add my name on their waiting list. Hope my cat can get a checkup soon!

I want to say a huge thank you to the team at Islington Village Animal Hospital (especially Dr. Garrett and Dr. Nawas) for the great care they've always provided to my pets. My dog Oscar had an eye infection that wouldn't heal, so his eye needed to be removed yesterday. The entire IVAH team was wonderful and Dr. Garrett did the surgery for my best buddy for a very reasonable price. Although IVAH is a business, and their staff deserves to be well compensated for their work, I've always felt that they put the well-being of my animals before profit and that really means a lot to me.

Very caring, update to my post. My little one was just fixed and the experience was wonderful, all the staff are so caring and her incision healed very well very quickly. Our Dr. JoHanna was wonderful.

Incompetent. Asked for a drug refill - confirmed the price twice. Came to pick it up - the price given was double of what was quoted.

Can’t say enough good things about this clinic. The entire staff is amazing and provide a high level of care to their clients and fur babies. I have interacted with all Dr’s at IVAH and have been very impressed by their kindness and compassion when dealing with my elderly dog. Dr. Nawas has helped my dog overcome a chronic skin issue and has given her the ability to live her best life. This is more than we could have ever have hoped for and we are eternally grateful for all her hard work.

Took my puppy here for his annual checkup. Dr. Garrett was great at listening to and explaining all of my questions and my puppy left with a toy which was a great surprise.

Strongly recommend. Best clinic for your pets. I having 2 dogs and can tell that this guys are amazing. Great service with great price:)

Had our first appointment with Dr. Hume. Amazing doctor, she answered all of our questions. She gave us time to ask all of our questions. We didn’t feel rushed or something like that. All she said made sense and gave us a feeling she actually cares.

I first became a client at IVAH when I moved back to Toronto. I chose them based on the great reviews they had at that time. Ten years later, I am still happy with that decision. The Team at IVAH are superb! They are caring, gentle and attentive to all of our concerns and needs. I highly recommend this clinic!

I have been taking my whippets to this Veterinarian Practice for a few years now. I am extremely pleased with not only the good service but the wonderful care and attention that the animals get. The staff are amazingly friendly and loving to your animals. They are professional, well versed and do whatever they need to do if they have to figure something out. They provide options when available, but most of all it's just a very wonderful atmosphere and I know they care about your animal.

The owner is the worst.

Really good care. Great staff, great place to both have your pet looked after as well as board them for trips.

I've had great experiences with all of the vets, techs and staff at this practice over the years, but I want to give particular mention to Annie, Dr. Garrett, and Dr. Hume. Their compassionate care of my cat Noogi saved his life, and enabled him to regain his health after an intestinal illness.
He was so lethargic and ill that we initially didn't think he was going to make it, but Dr. Hume encouraged us to do an ultrasound (in the least pressuring way possible) and I'm so glad we did as that decision turned his life around. From this point, right up until a month following his surgery, the staff checked in about his condition and my husband and I could feel the genuine concern for Noogi's well being rather than him just being another patient.
3 months following his surgery, Noogi is the healthiest he has ever been. He's a good weight, eats well on his special diet and is bursting with so much energy he wants to play constantly. All thanks to Islington Village!

Dr. Erin Spence is a vet that I truly trust with both of my cats well being. I left a vet that seemed to push unnecessary, expensive surgeries for my cats that really were not needed. Last December, my cat Rajah got really sick from a bad can of wet food. He wouldn't eat for days, he was drooling intensely and looked like he was in so much pain. They worked with him over days, having to resort to surgery where they found his intestines were very swollen. They took the bile and bad food out and gave me medicine to give him. He healed really well and I am so grateful that Dr. Erin Spence and her team was there, I really feared that he would not make it.

Not only have they dealt with emergencies, our other cat, lily, has hyperthyroidism and asthma. They consistently help keep these disorders in check with blood tests, medication and puffers. She is 15 and still going strong.

Really happy to have a vet that cares about my pet's health and wellbeing and is always there for guidance.

Simply the best. My new fur baby has been coming here for about a year now and words cannot even describe how great this place is. If you are looking for a vet who genuinely cares about your pet, not just the money, this is the place for you. I wish I knew this vet earlier for my other two beloved dogs, whom I had the pleasure of having for the last 14 and 15 years of my life. If they've been here, no doubt they would've enjoyed healthier and longer life and me as an owner, would've saved sooooo much money and time. 100% recommended.

Denied to see my dog when he was in critical condition because “they weren’t accepting new clients”. As a ver you would assume their priority is help the animals.

I had great experiences here until I took in my pup for an emergency on a Saturday. The vet did not take her condition seriously and said it was "the flu". It was absolutely not the flu and my pup almost died over the weekend until I took her to emergency. If i could give this office less than one star, I would.

I've only had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hume, Dr. Garrett, and a few members of the Care Team, and they have all been wonderful! I knew as soon as I walked in that I had found my new vet in Etobicoke. Their communication and care goes above and beyond what I could ever expect. I would recommend this clinic in a heartbeat to any and all pet owners.

We love love love this vet! It's so easy to book online which is super convenient. Dr. Burley is really good to our two kitties, and never reccomends any treatment or services that aren't necessary. The prices are way better than any other vet in the area that I've spoken with. You truly will not find a better vet with better staff

Today was our first visit to this clinic but it will absolutely not be our last.
The staff was all so nice and welcoming.
The vet (whose name I forget right now) was fantastic. She set all of my dogs at ease and had them eating out of her hand (pun intended), in no time.
The bonus of going here is that it's close to home and less than my vet out in Durham.

I chose this place after the previous vet closed down. Their environment is clean and well organized. I felt comfortable than any other places I have checked. People are nice and friendly. My cat doesn't like vets but he was able to manage his 1st appointment. The doctor comforted him very well. Waiting time was less than what I expected.

I am not exaggerating when I write that our beloved little cat would no longer be with us were it not for the amazing care provided by Dr. Spence, Dr. Hume, and the wonderful staff at Islington Village Animal Hospital.

I'm positive that they will take just as good care of your pet as they did ours so if you're looking for a veterinarian, look no further. You've found the best.

I took my dog to get spayed and am very happy with the result.
All the staff are friendly and professional.
My dog recovered very fast and the stitches totally dissapeared after a month.
The price is reasonable too.

I have an indoor cat (over 19), and when he turned 16 a couple years ago, I needed to find a west end vet for the first time. Reviews of IVAH sounded good, but I am an over-protective cat-dad, so I still had reservations. I should not have. As my little guy has aged (and his health declined), we were in and out for different geriatric cat treatments; dental care, pain meds for arthritis, annual physicals, etc. In this time, I have dealt with multiple vets and techs at IVAH - and can honestly say I have been beyond satisfied with their level of care and professionalism.

For anyone looking for high quality care from compassionate people, you will find it at IVAH.

My 3 month puppy had a swollen eye that was pretty bad they took me in right away! I was really scared about the eye. They gave him a shot to reduce the swelling, couple hours later he was back to normal! Great place but with all honesty I think the prices are Abit over the top, 90$ check up for 5 minutes. But they did a great job vet was very friendly and helpful

I cannot say enough good about Dr Spence. She is competent, kind and practical. My golden has brought me in for several emergencies (obstructions, dog bite, lump removal) and Dr Spence has always treated us with exceptional skill and timeliness. We have also had great experiences with Drs Garret and Burley. I very much appreciate this clinic. The front desk staff and the behind the scenes staff are also very professional and caring.

I have been taking my pets to Islington Village for more than 6 years now. Dr. Spence, Dr. Hume, Dr. Burley, and now Dr Garrett - are all excellent. I trust all of them! They have excellent rapport with the dogs, are thorough, knowledgeable, thoughtful, practical and very responsive - they have always provided me and my dogs excellent service. The staff are friendly and over the years I have referred many friends and family members to this clinic for their fur babies and everyone is pleased and now regular patients here. Some are travelling quite a distance too - which in my view speaks volumes.
Prior to going to this clinic I had tried mulitple clinics in Etobicoke - this is by far the BEST. A truly wonderful team!

I can't say more positive things about Islington Village Animal Hospital. I've been taking my standard poodle there since I got her. It feels like each member of the staff genuinely love animals and want what's best for them. Dr. Spence is knowledgeable and spends the time to get to know both you and your pet to give the best care possible. Today was the first time I've had to take my pup in for something other than her annual checkup as she broke her dew claw. Dr. Schuilenberg was fantastic, removing it in less than 5 minutes. I easily could have been told that she needed sedation to make it a more extensive (and more expensive) procedure, but like I said, this team really is in it for the animals, not the money. Would 100% recommend this clinic.

Haven’t even become a patient here yet, and I already love these guys. Went in randomly yesterday to ask for some Burow’s Solution for my dog’s ears, and they very kindly sold me some. (It doesn’t require a prescription but most vets wouldn’t have just helped me out like that - I had dropped our previous bottle on the floor and couldn’t get to our regular vet to replace it.)

Great vibes in the office, staff all super-friendly - will definitely be taking our dog here from now on. Recommended.

Took my dog here for his annual check up, and vaccines. Dr. Spencer was extremely patient, knowledgeable and friendly. He did not use scare tactics and didn't try to sell unnecessary procedures. You can tell he really cares about the animals he treats.
