J7 Ramen

We were here on last Sunday and ordered Karage chicken ramen and Karage chicken on the side as well, service was good, quiet place with good ambiance. The food was good in taste and the best part was the broth, i really enjoyed the broth. The staff were friendly and welcoming. 10/10

It’s a nice Japanese place to have ramen. The owner is friendly and we went there after reading some great reviews. The decor was nice and service was great.
Food- It was not perfect or maybe it didn’t meet our expectations. I’ve had better ramen before. We tried karaage pork spicy ramen and a veg fried dish. The vegetarian options are limited and the dish wasn’t great. My husband complained that he missed pork pieces in karaage as it comes with only with fried chicken and egg.

Best ramen ever! My friend and I come here on a regular bases and we love it! We’ve tried other ramen spots but none have come close to this one! The staff are nice and the place is very clean.

Very tasty Ramen here! Server and the owner is so friendly - I even hd a little chitchat with him and after paying they even gave me complimentary lollipop! HAHA! But yeah! A must-go Ramen restaurant. I’m glad to visit here.

Kyoza and Takoyaki were tasty and we ordered twice.
Excellent customer service.

I recently had an opportunity to dine at J7 Ramen in Whitby and it was pretty good!

I had the Spicy Pork Ramen and it was rich in flavour. My friends had the Pork Shoyu Ramen and Karaage Chicken Shoyu Ramen. It was all nicely presented, and very flavourful.

The decor was tastefully Japanese without being overdone. The service was very efficient. There were enough interesting items on the menu to entice me to come back.

Best ramen in Durham by far! (Tested and proved) always get Spicy pork ramen and hubby gets green karaage he loooves it. Usualy get gyoza too, they're delicious!

This place has great decor and nice seating. The food was alright, as it comes to ramen but the Karrage was the star! Great prices and would probably go again

Maybe the quality went down from 5 stars 11 mos ago but the broth was reheated and the ramen was meh. Service was non existent too. Maybe they changed the cook. I was excited to try as it had good ratings. First time we went, they were still cleaning at 11: 30 place opens at 11. The said it will be another 30mins so we went to Kenzo ramen insetad which was good. Decided to give this place another try and was very disappointed. Maybe dinner srv is a lot better. But i will never go back to this place. 100% will not recommend

We paid $22 for a bowl of a tasty ramen however it was only soup meat and noodles. Hence we request for additional vegetables but there we were NO bamboo shoots or seaweed or mushrooms like most other ramen places. Over priced

Been wanting to try this place for a while now and i was blown away.service was wonderful, food was outstanding! Perfect portions, and absolutely delicious.it’s a quiet, small, intimate dine in area, so it was nice.will be back, and will definitely recommend.

Great service and the best karrage. I wish the bowls were a little more customizable without being inconveniently surcharged. Bowls are much smaller than compared to Kenzo.

Not a bad spot for Ramen. Good size Karrage and you get the whole egg, not just half. Would visit again. Place does need a little bit of music though. Quiet as a library there.

This review is overdue.

I went here with a friend in March this year, 2022. It was about an hour before closing time. There were a few other customers in the restaurant but quiet. The staff did not seem to be happy to see us since they were ready for closing (I guess). We ordered Chicken Shoyu and Takoyaki. The ramen came room temperature and Takoyaki was not hot. We were both disappointed since we were looking forward to try this restaurant in the heart of Whitby.

We have not gone back since then.

I was thoroughly and deeply disappointed the broth had no flavor and the noodles were just bland and not very tasty the meat didn't have its fat rendered and was just water locked and nasty the wood ear mushroom was the only thing that was decent and I just cannot give it anything over one star I was just very disappointed especially at $20 for a bowl of ramen and one drink with tax

The chicken ramen at this restaurant was amazing. Probably the best ramen I’ve had in my entire life. Highly recommended! I can’t wait to go back.

As an out of towner this is an easy 5 star. Ordered chicken Karaage Miso Ramen (the one with garlic oil) and extra egg. Everything was great, eggs were delicious. Big and beautiful juicy Karaage, highly recommend.

J7 ramen is awesome. The pork spicy ramen with thin noodle tastes so good. It’s the best ramen that I have tasted in a while. I recommend this place to everyone. Their service is good too and the restaurant is quiet, which is great. Most ramen restaurants have their music blasting loud which I don’t like.

Nice small place to have some ramen. Service was very good and quick for dine in. The shoyu ramen was good but I found the pork to be a little tough. Otherwise, it was a flavourful bowl of ramen. Will try the other types they have here.

Worst Service Ever. Lazy staff and even lazier noodles. Stay away from this place and just buy Top Ramen at No Frills.

Food, ambiance and staff were great. Standard menu fairs that won’t disappoint (we got the takoyaki and spicy pork ramen). The real draw here is that you get great ramen right downtown, and the steady pace but quiet atmosphere makes for a perfect lunch date.

Great service, the tonkotsu broth was flavorful without over salty, egg was done right, the noodle has that bite without being chewy or overcooked, overall a solid 9/10, great service as well.

This was the first time my husband and I have ever had ramen. We ordered the pork shoyu and the karaage shoyu. The meat and topings were tasty. The broth was not as flavorful as we thought it would be. Again first time so not much to compare it to. The server who took our order was very attentive, repeated our order back to us to make sure it was correct. Our order was ready in about 10 minutes just like they said it would be. Not bad for a first try of ramen for us. It was a bit pricey.

Went here for my friend's birthday, the vegetarian ramen was great, and service was excellent. Their cheesecake was delicious.

Not bad but not authentic Japanese ramen like Kinto or Ippudo ramen shops in Toronto. The best are still in Japan. Presentation ok but can be improved. Good enough for a local ramen shop. Price is ok.

Shio soup base needs more body and creaminess, I find it a bit bland not enough umami to it. The chasu (pork slices) are ok in size but not tender melt in your mouth. Searing it with a propane torch ruins the flavor as it was burnt with a bit of bitterness.

Food is good and is served quick. Due to covid they only have take out, and the prices are a bit high for one ramen. But I would recommend if you enjoy Japanese ramen

We both got the Vegetable Ramen with extra noodles; flavourful and tasty! I added garlic oil to mine and it was better with it. Generous portions and friendly service.

Heard a lot about this place and finally got a chance to try. I usually always start with the same shoyu ramen when trying a new place out so I can fairly compare each location.

I've heard this place compared to a certain chain before, and that comparison is a bit of a disservice to J7 in my opinion. The broth here has a really good depth and balance, and there is a nice char on the pork. The thin noodles I tried had just the right amount of bite to them.

The spice is actually adequately spicy in the broth (spicier than Tabasco to me) but oddly milder on the spicy karage (seems to be most gochujang maybe?).

The cook and the sauce on the gyoza was really nice as well. Really nicely crispy and great flavour.

My favorite part though overall may have been the nicely runny eggs.

Everything was very reasonably priced and the service was good. Would defiantly come here again over that other somewhat known chain any day.

The one minor thing I had trouble with was the spoon, very decorative adds ambience to the meal, but makes shoveling in all the good broth a bit slow.

Very nice establishment. Clean, welcoming, good staff. The ramen I had was good and their was a good amount of variety. The staff were friendly and the entire restaurants atmosphere was very nice. Over all a great experience that I think anyone who wants ramen should have a shot at this place.

Lovely place, sides are very well made, and tasty broth. I would like the ramen eggs to be seasoned longer however, they lack a little punch.

This place is amazing. Ordered a few times from here and it’s been consistently delicious! The portions are perfectly filling, the pork is incredible and we’ve tried the pork miso, pork shoyu, and chicken shoyu and have never been disappointed. Also green tea cheesecake is awesome.
Get extra pork - you won’t regret it!

Pork was not Tender at all. The spiciness is okay and the flavor.noodles are a bit hard.uber eats got me to pay almost 26$ for this and I'm a little disappointed.

My new ramen spot in Durham! Been looking for some legit ramen spots after moving to Ajax! Was well recommended by friends and they weren’t wrong, broth is amazing and pork is tender! Karaage is bomb! Cant wait to try other menu items

Delicious Veg Ramen! Added with the perfectly runny egg and a side of Kimchi *chefs kiss* they also surprised us with 2 pieces of torched sushi that literally melted in my mouth ON THE HOUSE, for their guests. Seriously wonderful experience and will return:)

Great option for Durham Region! Miss having access to some of the best Ramen places down in the city. J7 Ramen is an excellent alternative out in the Burbs! Would suggest the MISO and SPICY bases.

I was wondering if there's a gluten free option because I'd love to bring my girlfriend here but I have a gluten allergy so I'd love for there to be something for me as well

Ordered from J7 using Skip the Dishes as I had $100 gift card. Usually go with Kenzo and love them, but I can only order with them through Uber Eats. This is the worst Ramen I have eaten and significantly more costly than Kenzo. The broth was off, meat was bad tasting and poor quality, and they gave me chicken instead of the pork I ordered. I also asked not to provide plastic cutlery which they did anyway. I am mentioning this here as it reflects attention to detail. It was an astronomical waste of money and cost me over $100. It boggles my mind to see the high reviews here as I have eaten Ramen elsewhere and this definitely doesn't measure up. I'm not a picky eater at all having grown up with many different cuisines outside of Canada and I wouldn't eat this for free. My family agrees 100%.

Looking at the reviews most of which were from the last few weeks, 2 mos.at most makes me wonder if they're mostly fake. I've heard that people make a business out of posting fake reviews. Same rating on Skip the Dishes. Hmm?

About as good as it gets for ramen! Delicious, solid portions, and tasty sides (best kyoza I've ever had I'd come back just for those!) Highly recommend everyone check it out. We will certainly be back!

I ordered the Vege Ramen and it tasted like an off brand cup o' noodle - like soup flavored water. My husband ordered spicy pork ramen and said his tasted like they put a teaspoon of buffalo sauce in boiling water and called it broth. I really hate to give negative reviews but I would hate for someone to waste $40 eating here like we did.

Great customer service and the ramen is delicious! Kind of reminds me of Kinton which is my go-to so it’s nice to have a good local ramen restaurant instead of trekking out to Toronto.

Came for a Christmas Eve dinner with my wife. Staff was courteous and friendly. The ramen was delicious and both of us also really loved the spicy karaage chicken. Will definitely come back again.

Just tried this for the first time and it was fantastic. I had spicy pork ramen and gyoza. The gyoza was literally the best I've ever had and the ramen was perfect. Not too salty, deliciously spicy without being painful, and the noodles were just right. I had missed my old ramen place since we moved here from Toronto but my search for a new one is over! We'll be back for sure ️

Got the spicy pork and loved it! I found this place while looking for a local ramen spot to fix my craving as I haven’t been able to find a good place in durham. I was kind of hesitant as it is a new spot with not many reviews but it did not disappoint. I’m very picky with ramen broth and I would go back for sure. The server was kind and I hope this place does well!

I took a picture half way through eating my spicy pork ramen. It was piled high and I ordered an extra egg. The eggs were spectacular.

Waited over an hour for two bowls of ramen noodles. The food was very boring. A bowl of noodles with broth, an egg and two tiny pieces of chicken. Very overpriced for the amount of food. Not again.

If you’re looking for good ramen, and to support your local restaurants, stop by J7 Ramen. This place is so cozy, and the staff here are so incredibly sweet. The ramen? Where do I begin? It’s absolutely delicious. I’ve tried almost every spot downtown Toronto and I can honestly say without a doubt that this blows so many of them out of the water. I had the Pork Shoyu and I added the garlic oil to it. Please go try this spot if you’re looking for delicious food, and great service.

Was SO happy to see a ramen restaurant open up in my hometown! I was equally delighted to eat the "Chicken Shoyu Ramen"'. MMMmmmm so good! The fried chicken was delicious, and the broth. Oh boy - you better buckle up for that broth.

My Parents had the spicy version and enjoyed them as well! We look forward to coming in when COVID is over to dine-in.

Best ramen I've ever eaten in this area. The restaurant seems like they just open recently. Friendly staffs and the atmosphere was so cozy. I will definetely visit again and highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

Dined in here for the first time. Ramen was delicious, I liked their spicy karage chicken too. Measures were taken to sanitize regularly and keep a log for customers. Will definitely go back for another Ramen:)
