Disappointing Experience with Jamal Family Law - Biased and Ineffective

My experience with Jamal Family Law has been extremely disappointing and marked by a concerning level of bias and ineffectiveness. Right from the start, I was referred to Council Laura, a subordinate, despite my initial engagement with their services. This decision led to confusion and had a detrimental impact on the progress of my case. Despite my efforts to raise concerns through emails and phone calls, these issues were not addressed promptly, if at all.

The management of financial disclosures and the subsequent settlement was equally flawed. I found myself consistently having to follow up on this crucial matter, which should have been handled proactively by the Jamal Family Law team. To make matters worse, it took nearly a year to receive partial disclosures, resulting in significant delays in the proceedings. What was even more troubling was the apparent bias in the financial settlement. Decisions were made that clearly did not align with my preferences and unique circumstances, leading to a settlement that was far from being in my best interest.

To add to the list of issues, despite my repeated requests, no motion was filed by Jamal Family Law, a critical step that could have substantially impacted the outcome of my case.

Adhering to court-ordered deadlines was essential, but it seemed that little pressure was applied to ensure compliance from the other party. This leniency resulted in additional costs and undue delays for me.

I expected the Jamal Family Law team to proactively advocate for my rights, particularly regarding custody decisions and the division of assets. However, it often felt like I had to fight for myself against my own legal representation.

The stress and challenges I endured during this case seemed to originate more from the legal process facilitated by Jamal Family Law than from the underlying issues themselves. My experience was marred by an unsettling bias and a lack of effective representation.

In conclusion, my journey with Jamal Family Law has been nothing short of a nightmare. I would strongly advise others seeking legal representation for their divorce cases to consider alternative options that prioritize fairness and professionalism.

Terrible Lawyer. Specifically Laura Shaw

I’ll start off by saying she charges exuberant amounts of money and she doesn’t really do anything. She will make up lies. She will say one thing, but if you contact the correct person, they say another. She will manipulate you. And once you refuse to pay her, she will be very angry and start screaming at you. She is so unprofessional. She cannot even conduct court procedure properly.

She consistently shows up with no documentation or improper documentation. I had NINE first appearances with her I In court. It raised my suspicion, but she manipulated me into thinking it was all a mistake.

Keep in mind first appearance is supposed to be one appearance. I had nine. Yes, I understand. I was fooled.

It’s a shame she’s registered with CAS. She definitely does not have the child in mind. My ex, and I came into an agreement that we will share the child responsibly. And she completely denied it.

The children’s lawyer OCL even told her we were in agreement and she was very angry and started shouting at my ex, and I. She was stating we would have to pay a lot of money to settle this peacefully out of court. I got a free consultation with another lawyer, and I was told this is false.

For someone who has a child’s best interest in mind and two parents who are trying to work together to keep the child in mind. She is definitely a scam. She’s trying to separate my child, my ex, and I. Her associates are very rude as well.

Because of her I had children’s aid involved unnecessarily. Luckily, they close my case and they did admit to me that she was fired from CAS for reasons. Clearly she does not have a child’s best interest in mind. She just wants your money. Avoid this lawyer at all cost

I understand she has many complaints with the LSO and I should have seen that as a red flag. But I thought maybe she had resolved it.

Family law is a tough and contentious practice for all involved, it is also riddled with conflict of interest, especially when more conflict = more money for the lawyer. After working with a couple of inapt lawyers, I met Fareen and it was clear from our introductory session that she was a truly rare find. Fareen prioritized her reputation and being a fair and balanced legal advisor over how much money can be milked from a single client. Her transparency and her side by side walk-throughs of proposed communications and her simplified explanation of the various legal options, and doing it in a very timely manner, allowed me to regain some faith in family law and lawyers. She focused on what is fair, worked hard to reduce conflict instead of working hard to flare it up, even if that meant less retainer for her. I strongly recommend her as a trusted and prompt family lawyer and counselor.
