I found lots of interesting things at Van marts which I didn't anywhere else, but it is also consistently more expensive than the larger retailers to the extent of $1-3 for each item. That makes it significantly more expensive in the overall bill.

Terrible customer service.
The items on sale were not honoured at cash register, then the manager was rude, as if it was our fault they had old tags on the items.
I saw the two people ahead of me with the same issues. All three families walked out on principle. They lost about $500 in sales based on a poor manager.
I like to supporting local business but we will not shop here again.

A bit expensive for the layman items but if I can’t find something in any other store, they more often than not will carry that item.

I used to love this grocery store, but I absolutely dread going here and dealing with the kids at the checkout lately. They're sullen, rude and not a single one seems to know how to put groceries into a bag!? ! If I want to bag my own groceries I'll go up the road to the food basics and pay less for my basic items.

Staff are super friendly, they always engage with my three year old and she's always excited to go.

Great spot with great selections…. But they can’t seem to keep a steady supply of water in the store.

Quality people selling great groceries. The fruit and veggies are always fresh and the selection of deli meat is great. My favourite part of the store is the amply stocked Chip aisle. So many chips!

After a period of somnolence our old community oriented shop has been resurrected under new managemented and has blossomed into a vital community resource. Clean and friendly with well stocked product line including fresh vegetables. Actually has made shopping a pleasant experience. Even has a butcher a baker and a candle stick maker. Well not sure about the candlestick person

This is not one of huge grocery shopping places like Loblaw’s in Kingston. However, the quality of fruit and vegetables are very good. Price-wise, it’s medium-high. My offhand place to go for fast shopping, especially if you live on Eastern Kingston.

This store gets 2 stars because yes, they have a bakery and custom made cakes, their products are overpriced and they’re often sold out of things. Their customer service is OK.

Kind of expensive for some things and you dont really earn optimum points on many items. But many items go 50% off so I can't complain too much.

I like this locally owned gem! I like that I can get PC products here, the selection is usually good. It's nice to have a deli where you can order takeout meals - I'll come here instead of Food Basics for the takeout and fresh bakery items alone! The staff are usually friendly and helpful. I LOVE That you can get 50% off bakery and takeout items, or the option to pay full price for freshness. This is what keeps me coming back! We are PC Optimum points collectors and I appreciate having this in our East End.

I find the prices can be too high to justify the pros. When we buy the same things at Food Basics, we can shave about 30 dollars or more off our usual grocery bill. We understand with an independent store it will be higher, and we are also willing to pay a price for premium quality, but that is just a bit too much. It's not our usual grocery store, but we love the option to come here.

I go out of my way to shop here. The selection is good, staff are great, and veggies are fresh. It's a friendly local store that hasn't been swallowed up by the big green monster!

Nice store. My go to grocery store when in Kingston East. Good quality produce and meat section. Easy parking too.

Clean store with friendly staff and fresh products. Bakery always does a tremendous job on their custom cakes. Sales are general good but their regular priced items are a little pricier.

Cottage Country/ Small Town/ Old School Grocery Store: Just like one Grandpa worked at when he was in High School.

We like their meats- good quality and decent price. Kaiser buns and croissants are always fresh and great tasting. Same is true for cold cuts and hot meals.

My favorite grocery store. Superior customer service by all employees. If they see you looking for a item they always ask if you need help. They never make you wait. If two people are lined up at the checkout they immediately open another.

Great neighborhood grocery with all the basics and then some! Folks are super friendly and attentive.

Fantastic produce compared to local alternatives. Fairly small and lacks many basic necessities.

Family friendly.if you are a repeat customer, your particular needs are taken care of.because staff take the time to listen. Many employees know the customers on a first name basis. The product and produce is more exotic, which satisfies a niche for both medical needs and personal preferences. It is a little more expensive, but you will find a consumer/producer community here that is in sync with each other. Needs are met, and as a result loyalty ensues!

Social distancing means dont touch potential customers. If you dont want immune deficient people in your store at quiet times please use your words I will happliy shop elsewhere.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent customer service. Wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, meats etc with frequent replenishing of shelves, coolers, and freezers. Prompt and accurate checkout!

Love this small grocery store! It's smaller than other grocery store but they have everything you need! It's not more expensif than other place and they take the optimum point card! The team is very kind!

I dont know who it was, but a young ravishing lad in the produce section if this magnificent store IMMIDIATELY assisted me when my mobility scooter ran out of batteries. This old soul even helped me when a fouling of my pantaloons was inevitable. Thank you so much for this experience and you are a beautiful boy I will continue to buy my XXL adult diapers here Mr. Produce Section Man ;)

Great locally owned little grocery shop!

We arrived a moment or two too early, however James (the James!) Let us in to not catch a cold.
The place was clean and bright.
The shelves were stocked with pretty much anything you would need in a pinch.
The cashier was pleasant and efficient.

10/10 will come back again.

Selection can sometimes be lacking. Otherwise, ok. Watch the prices though. You can sometimes get better deals downtown.

A teen named Dan was the greatest man ever and I spent 5000$ just because he was kind, he needs a raise ASAP. I went on to spend an additional sum of $9.76 x 10^ (14) from the amazing music in this store. Astounding work employees!
