My Counsler is the best very helpful. The rest of the staff will not take interest in you if your caucasian. You have to be of Color or apart of the LGBQ community to be recognized. It’s a shame I just had my baby and been asking for formula and diapers they have it as the women that also take part in the donations don’t have a problem.

What to say about Jessie’s:) … to start off there was June herself, she was a strong passionate devoted women who build this center with help from her friends out of a need that was growing as the city grew and SHE DID IT! I was a client at a point they were in the west end just starting to build the new location with housing. (1990-1991) What a huge accomplishment. I remember being offered a three bedroom unit I believe maybe two lol when they were done. (I later decided to stay up in the north end of the city with help from my family) I was having twin boys that year and I was talking the bus subway down each week plus with my partner to have Lamaze classes and I got to know June that way. She was so great to us. When I really needed someone in a big way. That year the center/June offered midwives to some of us mothers, at the time they were not covered by ohip, I believe it was a famous country singer who donated the money so that we could have the experience having a midwife. Of course having twins and being so young the center helped me get the head of obstetrician at Toronto general to be my dr as well…I was very lucky:).
We met friends there that have lasted a lifetime and memories I’ll never forget. Jessie’s was just such a huge part of me becoming the mother I am to this day. A thankful blessed one.
Of course they are going to be busy, a lot of their plates. I don’t know how they do it. Angels really lol. But I promise you. If you put the work in for your future they will be there for you in folds.
Thank you June and everyone at Jessie’s for literally making this world a better place!

The services at jessies is very poor.i remembered i was a client of jessies when i was pregnant awhile back and the staff were actually helpful but recently especially after covid they got alot of new staff and they are not helpful at all.for example, the new housing worker i had gotten in contact with her due to some housing issues i have been having, which have been making me and my son very uncomfortable to living in our place, even
while talking to her i didnt feel as she was understanding, or took anything i was saying seriously.she did an in intake and asked me for my budget and said she would get incontact with me as she was going to look at places for me and she never did.she also said she would send me an email of low income housing every week and didnt do that.i just never heard from her ever again and its been a month now.she did not at all even check up on me to see how things are going.she had even said she would try to get me a new counsler at jessies as my old one left months ago and she didn't even do that.all she did in that phone call was just do an intake, ask for my budget and never reached out to me ever again.you would think since its been a month she would.she was not at all helpful whatsoever.there services recently been awful.i miss back then when they were actually helpfull.its like she did an intake to gain money from having a file open for another client but not actually help them or provide any services for them.super awful would not recommend their services at all.
