They are the real deal! My dog was traumatized and reactive around dogs for years after I rescued him. I finally found a place that specialized in these issues, and it was the best money I ever spent. My dog can greet dogs on the street now and is trusting them more and more every month. He hasn't been reactive in months. Anesh and Cass are firm but also very caring in their approach, and I continue to use their Academy Daycare services on a monthly basis to continue socializing my dog.

I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who has trouble with behavioural issues with their dogs to K9 Academy. Anesh and Cass had my dog Humble for the eight weeks in the board and train program and Humble is now a dog everyone can enjoy and love. They were very helpful and great at communicating. Humble loves both the trainers so much and you have them for lifetime. My dog has changed in such a great way, I would have never thought of! So a great thanks goes to Anesh and Cass. We have tried multiple places to help train our dogs but honestly they haven’t worked until we came across K9 Academy, they are such a great team and such a great place for your dog to be trained and have fun all at the same time! Hands down 10/10 amazing place for training!

I had purchased the Basic Obedience package and just wanted to make people aware: this is not for all dog types. The one thing I feel the website failed to advertise or mention is that a "Prong/Choke Collar" will be the first item introduced for the very first session.

This item may be useful to larger and/or agressive breeds, but for a smaller breed, it just added more anxiety and stress to the point my dog would shut down for half a day. While I recognize the use of training tools, ethically, I think it's important to disclose that tools like these will be REQUIRED to attain the desired behavoirs the trainers will guide you on. While I found the sessions short and informative, I think for most with dogs that aren't generally "bad" that a one-on-one animal behaviorist would be much more effective.

Unfortunately, I decided to pull out of the last 2 sessions due to lack of progress with and without the choke collar and didn't really enjoy making my dog cough and whine like he was being punished for existing. This training was just not for me or my little dude.

I paid $25 for 1 day UPS shipping, my order was sent regular mail and has an estimated delivery date of 7 days. Seems to be common from reading other reviews.

We had attended three different puppy training programs before starting at K9 Academy. Most programs have a couple good tips on how to train your dog, but K9 Academy has a strong focus on getting long-term results. They ensure everyone in the class is able to reach a high standard before completing the program. The instructors are very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this program regardless of what your dog is struggling with.

I got my first dog (rescue, 6 months old) and immediately signed her up for the puppy obedience training after a friend recommended them.

I cannot say enough good things about Cass and Anesh, they are very informative, and really take the time to listen to your issues and explain solutions in a simple way.

My dog is currently having an issue with nighttime walks and they let me drop in to a couple complementary classes to refresh myself on how to handle it.

I will be putting in her in there new daycare facility to build her confidence, and I know they will be working with her on issues, unlike other daycares that just let them run around all day.

K9 Academy has changed our lives!

We rescued a beautiful Bordeaux mastiff in August 2022, after we abruptly lost our American bully to cancer. We were blindsided but wanted to help the over-crowded shelters and do our part to save another dog’s life, and nothing was bringing our Cesar back.

When Breeze the Bordeaux became scared one day she took off, taking me with her! We knew we needed professional help.

Over the next few weeks, we enrolled Breeze in Obedience Level 1, and it became apparent she would do well to have a canine companion.
Enter REX - a silly, goofy American bully who was picked up as a stray by animal control in Saint Catherine’s.
Rex had many behavioural issues - and - physically he needed a surgical ACL repair … which meant - he was a young, spunky boy with zero energy outlet!

I thought we might be insane.
Two polar opposites.
One 125+ lbs and one 90lbs.
Lucky we found K9 Academy….
Cass and Anesh are incredibly talented teachers.
Their techniques and clear instruction leave no ambiguity, and literally everything they said to do - we did.

Our pups will soon both be in Level 2 Obedience, but what we also love is that they have tons of “continuing education” seminars about very specific dog behaviours / problems.
Any course you take, you’ll leave with strategies, knowledge and ultimately, power - to help you and your dog live their best life.

Our dogs are becoming exactly who they were meant to be - completely happy and carefree, and we can take them anywhere.

If I could give this place more that 5 stars I would. Cass and Anesh are truly awesome and they love what they do, they are dedicated and personable they ensure the "can do" attitude. Gigi is my first big breed dog I must say I had lacked the confidence when I first started the obedience and advance training, thanks to them and their positive attitude I am a better trainer to Gigi. We completed both the Beginner and Advanced training courses with our rescue dog and it was a GAME CHANGER. When we first adopted our dog at 8 months, she was terrible on leash and reactive towards people and dogs. But after completing both programs, she can now be completely off leash and responses to our commands, even in stressful situations.

We've tried other trainers and methodologies in the past but K9 Academy is by far the best and we've already recommended them to multiple friends.

Anesh, Cass, and the K9 Academy team demonstrate exceptional professionalism and expertise in their training methods. Haru and I completed both their basic and advanced obedience program last year, and Haru is currently under their boarding services for a month as we are overseas.

Our primary motivation for enrolling in their obedience program was to address Haru's social issues, including aggression towards other dogs. Despite having worked with other trainers in the past with little success, it was surprising to see the significant improvement in Haru's behaviour towards other dogs after completing our 12 weeks with them. As a result of their training, Haru is now more comfortable around other dogs, and I feel more confident in handling situations that may cause her distress. The K9 Academy's unique approach allows for a strong bond between dog and owner, leading to effective training in essential skills such as recall and leash walking.

Recently, Haru experienced an allergic reaction resulting in a swollen face while under the care of K9 Academy's boarding services. The team promptly informed me of the situation and provided updates throughout the process, including sending pictures to ease my anxiety. Despite facing challenges in securing immediate medical attention due to our vet's fully-booked schedule, Anesh and Cass demonstrated exceptional resourcefulness and ensured that Haru received the necessary treatment promptly.

I am overwhelmingly thankful for K9 Academy. My dog has a lot of anxiety, and we had worked with a few trainers but he just kept getting worse to the point where I was second guessing my decision to get a dog at all. I put him in a month long board and train as my last attempt, and it was night and day. Anesh and Cass were able to give my dog a strong foundation, did some sessions with me to make sure I was ready to maintain his training at home, and have since been quick to answer any questions. This was 2 years ago and he’s only gotten better. I understand my dog and how to read his behaviours and communicate with him better, and we’re able to do things like hikes/camping which was something I couldn’t imagine before.

They’re also 100% the only people I truly feel comfortable leaving him with when I travel, he’s still a little anxious and can get rowdy when I leave him places but it’s incredible how much he loves Anesh and Cas. K9 Academy is the perfect spot if you have a dog that needs training. I found them just googling Toronto trainers especially with big dogs. I tried petsmart and positive reinforcement doesn’t work for everyone’s dog.

I was blown away with Anesh and Cass’ help with my first reactive dog, Tobias. They recommended him for behaviours modification and we went back to the basics with him. He used to lunge/bark at new people, not listen, pull everywhere and with my accident, I couldn’t walk him without help. We also had to have a muzzle as a precaution. Not only did they help me with his manners, they helped shape up his obedience and we got to a point I can trust him off leash completely in a new area (and obvs in a posted off leash area), which i was not able to even let him off the leash in an area he already knew. He now knows how to keep calm and be independent around other dogs and people. Even at home, we can have people come over without him having a 20min bark and lunge session. Now I still advocate for him as he does not like to be pet by randoms but he at least will tolerate being pet once in awhile or near new people and kids. To be able to trust my dog and take him to new places just made our bond stronger and I cannot thank them enough.
When I got my second dog, Caveria at 8 weeks, we waited till she got her shots before starting classes. I started her with them in the puppy program so I did not have the same problems as before and didn’t make as many mistakes. We are currently doing the advance training and she is doing amazing as we started her off with the right guidance. They make the information we need simpler that we actually enjoy doing the “homework”. She is the friendliest, loving pup but she is a firecracker. She loves training and has some crazy drive so will continue to take her to the elite classes for that extra fun and build her foundation strong.
Being with the right trainers who have the knowledge and understanding to genuinely help each dog is why I love going to them. Class is definitely fun and they put you in situations where the dog is able to practice safely before we try our homework with more distractions. We completed both the basic obedience and the advanced training class with K9 Academy after being recommended it by friends. We're so glad we did it! Over the course of the two six-week classes, my husband and I learned how to train and support our young golden retriever pup and it has made the biggest difference! Cass and Anesh are excellent trainers - friendly and professional, always ready to help troubleshoot and demonstrate how to complete training with the dog. Attending the classes was a fun part of the week and our dog, Ritzy, enjoyed them too. We put the training we learned into use every day and it means we can trust our dog a lot more than before, and she listens! Our friends have commented on how they notice the difference since we've completed the classes. We have already recommended K9 Academy a few times to other friends, and will continue to do so!

New to dog ownership I was overwhelmed with so many training methods. I chose K9 Academy and I went from having zero dog experience to having a well socialized pup who has mastered sit, leave it, drop it, come, no and stay (mostly). The trainers at K9 Academy are experts who are passionate about what they do, knowledgeable, experienced and most of all, so very caring. My pup was happy to train with K9 Academy and even happier to board with them.

Anesh and Cass are amazing dog trainers! We attended the Basic Obedience and Advanced Obedience and now our mini Bernedoodle's recall and off leash heel is very consistent. We attended other dog training providers, did not see the same results and wished I had connected with K9 first ;)

Brought my dog Argos (Golden Retriever) for the beginner and Advanced course. Couldn’t be more happy with the end result. My dog is not only more obedient and disciplined but, our walks and hikes have become much more enjoyable for both of us. Best training academy and staff in the city. 10/10
