Have gone here a couple times, all takeout however while picking up the atmosphere is warm, fun and exciting when full.
The food is the best around, always consistent always delicious and very traditional.
Portion sizes are amazing and food is always fresh. My spouse and I ordered dinner Saturday, spent 58$ and had lunch the next day because it was impossible to finish the sides and mains in one go.
I just want to say that this is my GO TO place all the time. We order it at least once every week. We have been ordering it for over two years now and I can’t say enough about how great this place is and how good and colourful, and tasty the food is. It is AMAZING! We made all our friends give it a try and they loved it. The service is wonderful, the staff are so sweet and welcoming. They never missed a thing in the order, the instructions are always followed and the meat and chicken are cooked to perfection (the chicken is my favourite). Their salad is great too. The food is very clean and organized in the bags very well and neatly! Thank you so much guys
I’ve tried both the veal kabob dinner and veal chapli kabob dinner. On Tuesday’s the veal kofta kabob dinner is on special for $10.99 and on Thursday’s the chapli kabob for $12.99. Amazing value. It comes with rice and salad as well, and spicy garlic sauce. Tastes great. Nothing beats the helping size.
Service was terrible. 1 lunch order took almost 30 minutes to get prepared, while I stood there. The establishment wasn’t busy at the time, just a very slow kitchen. Location is University plaza, which in most cases is designed for quick pick-up and take-out. The one star was given because the food tasted pretty good, but slow unapologetic staff.
Food was excellent.service was apprecialable.kabab, chicken tikka and malai tikka all is very tasty.even rice and salad is also too good. I'm very happy to discover a good restaurant near me after a long period here in kitchener.
I try my best to refrain from 1 star reviews but this was the worst possible food experience I have ever had and I just needed to warn yall.
I got briyani.and the rice has no flavour at all! You would think with the way it looks it would at least have some seasoning.not to mention some was white and some was yellow.it wasn't even all cooked the same. This is also the first time I got what appears to be I WHOLE CHICKEN LEG WITH THE BONE at the bottom of the briyani I took a bite and it tastes hella raw.
The Masala fries were a nightmare too the potatoes are practically raw, with some suspicious hot pink sauce there was barely any flavour it tasted like season less mashed potatoes.basically ruined anything poutine lime for me for the rest of my life
My original review was a 5 star. But I just had a karahi chicken again yesterday and it tasted awful. Couldn't eat the chicken as well. Sorry guys but you made me waste food so I have to change my review. Hope your consistency gets better.
Love this place. Went on the recommendation of a friend. Clean, staff are super-friendly and the food was piping hot and top quality. I had the lamb kabob and it was great, rice was fantasic. There's a ton of other stuff on the menu that looks fun as well, I'll be back to try some other stuff.
Personally recommend this restaurant for good taste with a variety of "grab and go" or sit-in lunch or dinner menu. From appetizers to sizzlers/special and signature combos or kabob rolls options are all very reasonably priced with good portions. Family/weekly menu options, prices and serving are also the best food money can buy. Today we ordered veal chappli, Mirzai & Waziri kabob, grilled salmon, veal behari kabob and bolani. The taste of every meat with a combination of spices is so scrumptious, appetizing and mouth watering. The combination of their special Nan and Bolani add more flavor to that food. Last but not least with almost 80% seats being full on Saturday night, still service was quick by friendly young staff.
Been here several times and love their food but lately their sauce quantities have become microscopic and when you ask them for extra sauce you get the same microscopic quantities so it's embarrassing to ask again. I know food prices have gone up but I would rather pay extra to get extra sauce than feel bad about asking them for extra sauce. It's plain rice and kebabs so you need sauce with the food.
It's like an hidden gem. Food is nice never has such soft creamy chicken Kababs. We order chicken kadhai with Naan which was so soft and nice. We ordered the the combo chicken bihari kabab and to-go signature briyani. The quantity of briyani was good I had for 2 times. Combo signature with pop and salad rice chicken is filling for 1 person and can be share with other if you are having 1 more dish. The atmosphere was nice. The place was clean. The staff was too good 10/10. Might go again to try other dishes.
I've ordered twice and both times the food was excellent. The second time I ordered, the Uber driver made errors (not taking the right order, forgot all the food and only delivered my drinks, etc). I simply disputed the missing food through the app, received a refund, and didn't pursue it any further. However, Mustafa at the restaurant then called me for my address and personally delivered the food to me. I sincerely appreciate it. Highly recommend the bolani and veal meatball curry.
Family kebab platter was really good. Food is good overall everything we ordered. Best thing was the service. The server we had was so good especially with the way he handled the kids table and server everything to them. Would definitely go back again especially with a big group
The portions are sizeable for the price. Attentive and kind staff. We tried chicken bryani, lamb shank, Korma sapzi, lentil soup, and beef kabab. They all tasted great. They really have a fantastic chef in kitchen!
My favorite middle eastern restaurant in Kitchener-Waterloo. Great food, good portion, reliable quality, very reasonable price, friendly staff. These are the qualities I look for in an everyday eatery.
A place which keeps calling you back. Kabob Shack justifies the name, the Chicken, Veal/Beef, Lamb Kebabs are the main attractions on the menu. The taste, portions and the ambience, everything checks out. Do give it a try, you'll get hooked.
I love the kabob here! Previously tried chicken tandoori kabob nd dats my al tym fav! I like der chicken kabob more dan veal kabob. The quality is also pretty good.
Mango Lassi was soo yummy! Only concern was it was too yellow in color even our lips turned yellow
I really did not want to leave a review here and gave a bad rating but since I had more than an incident at this place, I feel it's my duty to let people know what kind of place this restaurant is.
First incident happened on summer, I ordered a meal through Skip the dishes app for pick up. I entered and gave my order number and asked for my order. The ~ 55-65 old man told me to bring the bag and get it. He thought I am SkipTheDishes courier and asked me again in a rude way to get the bag. Eventually a young lady in the back told him something in Persian and he gave me my order.
Although he was welcoming other customers with a smile he was rude to me because he thought I am a delivery guy.
Second in incident happened on Saturday night (two days ago)
I went there with two of my friends who came from Manitoba for a visit. Again the same man asked us for vaccine proof. My friend showed him his Manitoba vaccine card and walked a way as he was on a phone call. He screamed at my friend and asked him to come back. Then, he was complaining that the QR card is not being scanned. We explained to him again that it's from Manitoba and not issued by the government of Ontario. We sat while he was checking the cards. I asked if we could get a menu while he was checking after few minutes passed. He complelty ignored us. I waited for few minutes again and asked again for a menu and again he ignored us. I told him if you don't wanna serve us we are leaving. And he said with gestures ok go go. That's extermlly rude and unprofessional. I order from this restaurant at least twice a month but I no longer want to be a customer of a restaurant that disrespect their customers
Located just by the University Avenue, best stop for spice fest. Had their Chicken Biryani, hands down among the best in Waterloo region. Also had a Chicken Kabob Roll and Masala Fries, that also stands out.
Will be going back again to try the other variety on the menu!
When I saw the 4.8 stars rating I thought we couldn't go wrong with this place, but the Tandoori Chicken breast was stale and un-edible. The restaurant was closed by the time we received the order form Uber Eats so I couldn't call to complain. If the management is willing to correct this I wouldn't mind changing my rating.
We come here all the time. By far the best place for some delicious authentic Afghan food. Mustafa the manager, of course the owner and all the staff are kind, respectful and friendly. Love the food we even got a complimentary appetizer. Amazing service. Mustafa was too sweet. Will definitely come here again.
Went all the way from guelph to try it, Met all expectation, great service, Good quantity, Reasonable pricing, would recommend lamb shank to every one. Rest all the dishes were amazing too.
The kabobs and salads were very delicious. Probably the best value you can find in this area for kabobs. Enjoyed the daily special of the week and the atmosphere was quite nice eating with friends. The owner is also quite friendly!
The lady cashier had some attitude tho. I asked her if these small red sauce on the counter is hot or not. She immediately put them away and said they are not hot sauces. She didn't even ask me if I would like to try one.
Nonetheless, I would still give it 5 stars because the food is that good. Maybe that's why she thinks it's okay not to be friendly lol
We order food from online yesterday at kabob shack. Packaging and presentation was very nice. But the taste was not good its very different from real kabob.
We ordered a large take out order today, and it was sooo good. The food is delicious and I appreciated how well everything was packaged. I would def recommend their veal kabobs and mighlai chicken. Looking forward to ordering from them again!
I ordered the chicken biryani. It was pretty good. I have had better. BUT, they gave alot of chicken and alot of rice. Definitely worth the price. Its even cheaper on Mondays and Fridays!
I order different kinds of kabab for My birthday dinner and it was tasty. The portions were big. All of my guests were liked the food and even the presentation of the food. I highly recommend it for your celebration or event. Just try it out.
We hired Kabob Shack to cater our event on January 3. We were taken care of from the moment we called them, and they took the time to understand what it was we needed. We learned about the many options they provided, and they were very accommodating to our needs. A situation arose which we were concerned about how it could affect our order, especially on such short notice (roughly one day before delivery). The owners and chef were courteous, kind and very understanding; they reassured us that unexpected circumstances do occur and that they would provide us with the service we needed on the day we had to switch. The delivery was precise and on time. Food was warm and fresh. Guests complimented our chefs' culinary talents throughout the evening. Our experience with Kabob Shack was memorable, and we look forward to having them cater future functions.
Food is amazing, service is top notch! This restaurant is highly recommended to those who wants to try good food and quality service. Some may not agree about the waiting time but for me that’s a good thing because I’m sure that the food they serve me is made and cooked fresh, not some pre-made or reheated. Overall good job!
I feel bad taking away 1 star from this review but there’s always a miscommunication between the person taking the order and the chef. I like eating their kabob without veggies, but every time they add veggies (happened 3 times in a row after many reminders). I love the flavour, food, price and staff but when you want some things removed or added you can’t expect your order to be accurate: (
Hands down the best Afghani food I've had in the region. Portions are pretty good for the prices of the dishes. Their biryani is to die for! The perfect amount of heat and not overly spicy.
Food is Average 3… but customer service 5…. Sorry but I have had some amazing food… I enjoyed salad more than I enjoyed Chicken Biryani and Chicken Kabob.
I really enjoyed the food My friend suggest me to go and try their food and i really live it Owner and staff is very friendly and take care of their customers like family
We catered from Kabob shack and everything was exquisite! All the guests were asking where we got it from. Definitely will be ordering again! Highly recommended!
While looking for a halal restaurant in Waterloo, we visited Kabob Shack. Received a warm welcome as soon as we entered. Food was also of top notch quality.
The owner is very friendly and goes beyond to help make your order right! They ran out of roast tomatoes so he gave TWO salads instead. I like how the rice comes with barberries too. Will be coming again.
We got takeout of Lamb Shank and Chicken Biryani. Chicken Biryani really tasted authentic and fresh, better than many other places we tried in this area. Lamb Shank was good too. Quality, quantity and taste is perfect. We also appreciate use of biodegradable takeout containers. Definitely recommend to try this new place.
Amazing food. I specially loved the veel bihari kebob. Food was made with care and definitely one of the best kebob places in town. Highly recommend!: D
Very delicious, tasty foods. The price is very worthy. The people is really nice.we really enjoy the foods. Best placehighly recommended. Thank you mahmoud&sateysh.
