Disheartened Experience for OHIP-covered Patients:

Last year I underwent a procedure covered partially by OHIP, and the difference in treatment left me feeling disheartened. It seemed as though I was merely a "repair" project, with little attention paid to my concerns and desired outcomes. Having lived with implants for over 15 years, including a disappointing initial surgery covered by OHIP, I had hoped that this second attempt could rectify past mistakes. Unfortunately, my experience with Kanata Plastic Surgery has brought me right back to where I started – with uneven and scarred breasts.

Dealing with Poland Syndrome since birth has been a challenging journey, and it's disheartening to continually be treated as if I'm a charity case by every plastic surgeon I encounter. My expectations were cautiously optimistic this time around, as I planned to replace old implants and correct prior issues. However, even a year after the procedure, the outcome remains disappointingly mismatched.

One aspect that particularly frustrated me was being asked to pay extra to address issues stemming from my previous surgery when I was 18. It's frustrating to think that I should have to bear the financial burden of correcting another surgeon's mistakes. The disappointment deepened when the initial swelling subsided, revealing an asymmetrical lift. I couldn't understand why, in a procedure involving breast implants, achieving symmetry seemed like an additional cost.

My desire for this second procedure was simple – to have implants that matched in size and fullness. However, the reality has fallen short. It's disheartening that my experience as an OHIP-covered patient meant my needs were seemingly disregarded. Dealing with Poland Syndrome has already been a difficult road, and the lack of consideration from plastic surgeons has added to that challenge.

In conclusion, I entered this process with hopes of improvement and symmetry, only to be met with disappointment and a lack of attention to my unique needs. As a patient covered by OHIP, I believe that fairness and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes should be universal, regardless of payment status.

I had the good fortune of having Lisa do my lip injections and was beyond pleased at her professionalism and meticulous attention to detail. There is a high degree of not only training but also understanding of the facial anatomy necessary to perform a successful and visually pleasing lip augmentation and Lisa is just superb. She gave me the best lips I have ever had.

Dr. Lacey and his team are amazing! They treated a seroma I got from a surgery in the USA. I'm planning to come to them next year for surgery, as well.

Honestly from the minute I walked in with questions to the day I walked out from my actual tummy and lipo I’ve had nothing but an amazing experience. From the staff of nurses to Dr. MacArthur himself, 100% amazing experience. 10/10 recommend.

I had gynecomastia surgery performed by Dr MacArthur. The entire staff at Kanata plastic and cosmetic surgery was incredibly helpful. I called them with questions at least 20 times and each time I phone they were all extremely helpful and wanting to answer all my questions. Dr MacArthur went through the procedure with me and explained the results that I should expect, I felt very safe in his care and trusted everything he said to me. I got to the hospital around 9am and everyone there made me feel safe, as soon as I saw Dr MacArthur I knew I was ready and all my anxiety went away. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for cosmetic or or any surgery that Dr MacArthur performs. Thank you again to everyone at this facility, you truly made me happy and confident going with you!

I can't speak highly enough of Dr MacArthur and the team at Kanata Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery. For the last 1.5 years I have had a cyst under my eye that gets infected every 4 months. The infection can get so bad that the bridge of my nose swells and my eye nearly swells shut. It also gets so painful that it hurts to use my facial muscles at all, including to talk or eat. I had seen multiple plastic surgeons in hopes of having it removed, each of them refusing to touch it and saying they couldn't remove it until 6 months post-infection (even though I couldn't last this long without a flare up). Anyways, my wedding was 2 weeks away and it got infected again. After meeting Dr MacArthur in the emergency department at the Almonte Hospital, he prescribed antibiotics and agreed to see me again if they didn't help. I called him a few days later to see if he could have a look at it again and he booked me at the end of his day to take a look. My wedding was 8 days away and I looked TERRIBLE. After having a quick look he agreed to get the operating room cleaned up to remove it right then and there - on a beautiful Friday afternoon. The procedure went so smoothly, and he even booked me in on the following Monday to make sure it was healing okay - which it did. The next day I immediately felt so much relief from the pain. One week after the procedure (and a wee bit of make-up) and it looked like nothing was ever there. Now a few weeks later and it is looking better by the day.

Having a tummy tuck was one of the biggest decisions I have made. I wanted to "deal" with the loose skin on my stomach that my children left behind but I was nervous to undertake such a large procedure. Meeting Dr Lacey and his team at Kanata Plastic Surgery helped me decide that I wanted to go ahead with the surgery. All the way through the process I felt listened to and reassured that I was fully informed and prepared. I did end of up with a complication but again I felt like I understood what was happening and I knew that I was in the best hands to deal with it and heal. I absolutely love my results and looking back I know that I made the right decision.

This clinic is exactly why women end up with too much cosmetic work.

Part of their consultation requires them to try and up sell you on additional work that you absolutely do not need, yet they will make you feel like you do (which in my opinion, is their attempt to take advantage of insecure women). By the end of your consultation, you will be told you need lip injections, cheek fillers, and Botox in various areas.

This clinic is also not about the “most natural” look and will try and tell you that you need more than you do.

It was a really disheartening experience that made me feel shameful for feeling like I needed anything done in the first place (I am young, and wanted to be pro-active in a small area that I know over time will get worse if not treated).
