All the dishes ordered were not meeting basic standards. Service was poor. Nobody really bothered about guests. When informed about the poor food quality, they informed us it is how they make.
I did hear a lot about this place. Until I visited myself. I ordered masala dosa and Idly.masala dosa was tasty buy idly didn't seem to be fresh. Not soft as it shld be. It was ok! The masala chai wasn't that exciting as well. I guess other locations have been taste. May be other items are good on the menu however my experience with the basics wasn't quite good. They also serve alcohol and have a party room. So it's good for bigger events. Service was good.
Feel like back in Chennai. Awesome atmosphere, amazing food. Best ever customer service in Scarborough. All staffs are pleasant. Food is delicious, great quality and quantity.
I was rushing to eat dosa but I called first to check if they serve Dosa and everything is halal (she said YES over the phone) then we headed to have some dosas. But when we went inside, once again I asked is your food halal? He said yes-everything is HALAL. When we were about to sit, we saw there is a bar adjacent to the restaurant and we asked again-do you serve alcohol? She said YES and if customers wants to drink while eating inside the dining area it is allowed. I'm sorry but not for me and my family. We rushed out to parking. When I say HALAL-it means HALAL in every aspect of the restaurant.
First time we visited this place. It's a big dining area with lots of tables. Atmosphere is very good Friendly staff We tried noodles, fried rice, biryani and dosa. All are very good with proper spice levels. It's a must visit place. You have lots of varieties in the menu. Kids will also enjoy their meal here. Must recommend place.
It is good to spend time with family but felt like priced high which is not worth for it's taste. Only thing which I felt was goat pepper Masala. This is dosha is only Good for photo, not that tasty. Not gone visit again.
Please confirm the timing of the dishes cause they have timing for certain speciality. Clean place and polite staff. Lots of south Indian were in restaurant as if they have found their regular spot for south Indian dishes. They have traditional dishes and cups if requested.
Beautiful ambience. Good food. Found some things in the menu that we missed. Definitely worth a visit. The service gets slower as you approach the prime time. For large parties, it's better to get a reservation.
To Start. Its the Most HORRIBLE PLACE you can go for food. If you wish to waste your money this is the place to go. Firstly I think the management is habituated or inclined towards hiring the laziest staff of a single community, in his/her place so you can see a laid back attitude. I had visited this place on 13/11/21 with my family expecting a nice dinner but went on to be the Horrific experience ever. We had ordered Schwewan chicken Dry which was way Tootoo sweet like some one has added only sugar to it instead of any spices. Moreover it was totally Bland, rubbery chicken, which you can keep chewing for ages. We were made to wait for at least 45 mins for our 1st Dish After requesting many times, they served the 2nd which was Chicken 65. It was some rubbery chicken deep dried and no sauces added to it. Totally Horrible in taste. The waitresses here are so bad that they don't have simple decency and audacity, that while walking you get pushed by them and they dont even apologize. Finally again after a long wait when we requested, if we can get another Roti, the Best Answer one can expect is that the waiting period of 1 Roti is 45 mins. I was like, are you serious that some 1 tells you, that we cannot order roti again if we wanna have food and In case if we order, then we have to wait for another 45 mins. MOST STUPIDEST ANSWER TOWARDS CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Also be careful with the billing as they do have the habit of rounding off the bill. The first bill was rounded off by the waitress by adding 25 cents to it. Its not as if any customer would raise an issue for 25 cents but I am sure all would agree that its my right to be informed that you want to round off or better to ask the customer which surely cannot be expected from such a downgraded Restaurant.
So In short, if you guys want a HORRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE or SOme food that way bland and rubbery and upon that want to just sit for 40-50 mins for an order, which surely wont be good or tasty, then surely this is the place
Did dine-in last week, the ambience is great. Though we had to wait but it was worth the time. They served the food within 10min. Everything was perfect. Customer service is good. Must visit
Definitely worth it. The Food is bomb. If you're looking for a place that tastes really really close to home (South Indian) -This is the place to be. Portion size is good. The staff are courteous. The flavour is really to the point. With each mouth you can feel the flavours tickle your tastebuds.
List of must try Dishes:
Mutton Kothu Roti (Definitely a must try) Mutton Chukka dry Chilli Fish Jeera rice +Dal (this combo with Mutton Chukka dry and your tastebuds will thank me later) Madras coffee
Ample parking space in front, restaurant has good seating capacity. Clean washrooms. Family Ambience for sure.
Met the owners also, very sweet, down to earth people.
The food is very expensive compare to outside restaurants and quantity and taste is highly disappointing never had that worst experience and the chicken smells very bad. Honestly and as a hard worker and a family man I really don’t recommend this restaurant. I would prefer silver spoon take out biriyani which is affordable and taste like actual biriyani not hyping silver spoon restaurant here. I had biriyani most of the places in Scarborough. From the bottom of my heart I recommend silverspoon. Also, Karakudi people ask you to pay by cash when you enter the place the first thing they are asking is our debit machine is not working if you pay cash we give you 15% discount and there is a post on the door as well. That means they are not paying the taxes to CRA properly. If you would like to visit same place even after my review please do pay by card and see how they react and food is very disgusting and ruined my whole day. I didn’t even ask a single question there but hope this honest review save your time and money and expectations and save your valuable time and day. Thank you.
This place is great! Their menu has tons of options to choose from and they taste amazing.
Must try dishes include Kothu Roti, Gobi Manchurian, shrimp 65, crab masala and dosa.
The staff are very friendly and they know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority.
A must try restaurant if you're looking for authentic south Indian food.
One of the best Indian cuisines in Scarborough. The quality and taste of the food is the main lookout of the place. The price is a bit expensive compared to other places but worth compared to the quality and taste of the food as mentioned above.
I went there and got veg thali it was so good that when I went there again twice, I did not get anything else. Veg thali is great but they need to add 2 more chapati atleast to justify the price.meat eaters get a lot of meat curries for pretty much the same amount.hence it feels unfair that vegitarian getting penalized just for being vegitarian.
Ordered idly sambhar, mutton biryani and eggkothu parota.horrible In taste especially the sambhar. Unbelievable rates for the quality of food they provide.
Do hesistate to goto karaikudi. 2 years back had thali meals; i didnt like. Recently went a birthday party and liked the served Briyani. So i tried again, bought chettinadu chicken masala, chilli chicken and parota. Nothing was tasty. Chilli chicken was just soysauce and capsicum, no real chillies.parota was stale.masala quantity was less and not tasty. I recommend to goto Anjappar to avoid hassle.
We went today to dine in (lunch), as a family (2 adults, 2 kids) our experience was great from start to end. We had to wait 35 min to get in but it was worth the wait. Attention and service were excellent, food was delicious (we ordered dosas, ghee masala and cheese masala). Dosas were just perfectly right in all aspects to me (no extra salt or extra spicy). We will definately come back soon to try non-veg as well. Overall a great family friendly restaurant with many options in their menu. Thank you!
The service was not bad. I mean they are short staff so it's a little slow but that's okay. Food was amazing. Though chicken lollipop was a little over priced. Overall I still go back there for some tasty yummy food.
Enjoyed the vindaloo beef and garlic naan especially. Everything was tasty (and spicy) just the way I like it. Nice authentic decor inside, but a but a bit dark.
Today I took my family to this authentic named Karaikudi restaurant for the first time in my life living in Toronto for the past 25 years. My expectations were completely tarnished with the food we got served. We ordered chicken, mutton Biriyanis, chicken karaikudi masala and Rotti. To begin with all the food served were very cold. The boiled egg given with the Biriyani was taken out of the freezer I guess and could not even eat it. No flavour of Karaikudi masalas, no taste of traditional Biriyani, mutton tasted like thick rubber pieces and there were only very few pieces that we had to search inside the dish. Overall very disappointing and will not recommend anyone to go and eat here expecting good taste and flavour. I salute my wife’s own Biriyani recipe in comparison to this one. Never again going here to eat.
Delicious dosas! Very attentive staff and good service. Nice covered patio for those who like to sit outside, even if it is raining! Rich tasting mango lassi to counteract the great spices in the food!
Ultimate waste. I ordered Chicken Biriyani, Mutton Biriyani and Chicken fried rice. All three were just plain rice. Chicken and mutton prices where stiffed inside a rice that looked like a pulao with cashew, but absolutely no taste. Kadai Chicken gravy was full of red color, tasted more or less like Manchurian. Chicken lollipops just a okay and only thing I felt good was Chilly fish dry. I had a high expectations on the name of the restaurant and it totally shattered today. Please change the cooks, prepare biriyani's instead of stuffing meat inside cooked plain rice. I didn't try rest of the south Indian menu like dosas. So single star for whatever I tasted.
Worst place to eat, pour service, menu say jumbo Shirmp when order arrives small shirmp, main course Should be delivered together, I received my first main Course after 35 minutes, we order three main course We ate only one, we waited sooo long for rest of the Main course we didn’t get it we pay bills came back It is embarrassing situation front my friends, I wouldn’t recommend to anybody
Missed the orders and had to reorder again. Bad customer services. Chillichicken was overcooked and burned. It’s taste was like coffee. Had great expectations before we came but will not go there again.
Good family style restaurant with attentive and quick staff. Went on a Saturday afternoon with a party of 4.1. Started with some masala chai’s and filter coffee’s. You have the add the sugar per your liking. The cream was too much. My guess is they added cold cream before serving. On arrival the teas and coffees were lukewarm. We had to request to get them heated up. The staff was prompt to do it. So if you’re craving a traditional Indian chai/ coffee. This ain’t it.
2. Appetizers: We got the the gobi manchurian and chicken lollipops. Chicken was okay. The sauce it’s served with is very nice. The gobi manchurian was too dry and crispy almost burnt, no gravy at all. They make it like a pakora.
3. For the mains we got the chilli fish, mutton sukkah masala with some garlic naans. Their flavours are very good. The batter on the fish was chewy. I tried cutting it with the knife with some struggle. The mutton a little tough, could have been more tender. The mutton portion is good for 1.5 to 2 naan’s max. The garlic butter naan was the shows stopper. It is so good you can eat it by itself. Delicious, soft, perfect.
4. Try the meetha pan to conclude your meal. It’s good.
The menu I received was literally torn and shredded. The staff is accommodating. If you order the South Indian food, nothing could go wrong. Overall a decent experience.
Servers weren't available had to call them, after getting my food the dosa were too oily I had to pickup the napkin and soak the oil out of it. Decent experience
It's a good experience after such a long time, to sit in a restaurant and dine in. We went there after almost 2 years. The staff are well behaved and place is clean and ambiance is good as well.
They have a patio now. Which is nicely decorated. The food was also very nice.
We order here at least once a month.for the past several months, sometimes twice a month! The food is deeeeelisious! Don’t take my word for it, try it! Your taste buds and belly with thank you!
I ate a dosa, the dosa was really good but I took an egg biriyani it was pathetic! It said “ (chicken curry) ” beside it, I don’t exactly know what it means but I didn’t get any chicken curry! I wish they explained. And this was freaking $12.99 are you kidding me? Banjara’s hyderabadi chicken dum biriyani (with two massive pieces and an egg) is $10! Is this some kind of joke? Called it “yellow rice with boiled eggs” And the waitress (I believe her name is Jeya) is so uninterested and doesn’t even respond properly nor smiles! I am a tamilian from Tamilnadu and I had high expectations, I’m so ashamed and paranoid right now! Bad pricing! Bad customer service! Bad food! Never going back!
The service and food has improved soo soo much! My brother and I went here for his 30th birthday before the lockdown! The food was just heavenly
Worst food I would never recommend this place to eat We had new year eve lunch in this place I order for rice chicken n mutton sukka masala instead of sukka masala thy gave some horrible mutton gravy My husband ordered for chicken kothu roti after eating here my husband had diarrhea n vomiting didn’t stop after taking several tablets Worst place to eat food quantity n quality is very worst
We made a group reservation that unfortunately had to be cancelled the day of. The management of this restaurant was extremely accommodating, understanding and professional about the late cancellation.
We also ate supper here and it was delicious. All in all, this restaurant is a class act!
Food was good. Service was decent (depends on your waiter). Felt like I just ate a home cooked meal. Their rassam with plain white rice was unexpectedly delicious. Over all my company and I enjoyed our time there.
This place is too expensive. Because the taste is not that great. I had briyani there, but I bet it's not a south Indian briyani. I hope they will learn to make. Dosa was okay.
Their menu has variety of selections to choose from. Some of the waiters provide exceptional customer service and some are opposite. This place is usually busy. We've been here many times and tried most of the dishes and they are all great. The portion size could improve a bit for their pricing.
Wonderful complex flavours and friendly, accommoding service. We had Devil Chicken (very spid and a fried cauliflower dish as appetisers. Both were very delicious - we devoured every morsel. Then we had dosas, naan, and fish curry. The sauce with the fish curry was very good, but the fish itself was overcooked and a bit tough. The naan was soft and so tasty! This stuff could easily become addictive! The dosas were okay. We had one plain and onw with a filling. The 4 chutneys/sauces on the side of each dosa were okay. The variety was nice. We had mango juice and masala tea - both were quite good. For dessert, we had rasmulai and kulfi - both very delicious! I would definitely go back!
First time visit for buffet. Quite decent place, nothing exceptional but would go once in a way for some hot fare. Inexpensive buffet compared to restaurants offering single fare dishes. Good service. Decent place.
The best Biriyani. Simply awesome. I also had tried the buffet on Friday. Their Biriyani taste is consistent on the buffet as well. Perfect south Indian restaurant for both vegetarian and non vegetarian.
Ordered at 1710 and the food was not ready till 1850 even as I am writing this review. Do not know how much longer I have to wait. Absolutely bad floor management. This is not good customer service at all. If it were to take so long the order should not have been accepted at all in the first place. I hope they haven't gone to the grocery store to buy the ingredients. Regret coming to this place.
The buffet is excellent and the service is very friendly. I would recommend this place to friends and family. I made a take-out order once and the fish curry was not good. I will come back here again but would not order the fish curry ever again.
2 stars because of the staff as they were nice and friendly. The ambience was good and the place is nice and clean. Now the most important thing. Food.to be honest it was not authentic south Indian to start with. I ordered a vada and paper marsala dosa and asked the vada first, they were nice and crispy on the outside and soft inside but the sambhar and coconut chutney was disappointing. The sambhar was too thick and only had lentil with no vegetables and curry leaves and was totally blant. The coconut chutney was again very blant as well and missed dried chilli, mustard seed and curry leaves which are the basic ingredients in the dish which makes it what it is. The experience with the first dish made me cancel my second order and the staff respected that and took the feedback. Overall the food was disappointing and lacked the authentic touch of South Indian food.
Great food and good service. We visited there mostly on weekends was bit busy and wait is but longer to be seated. Food is fabulous and I would recommend to try the south indian food.
This place was not too impressive; I found the food to be very disappointing! I got eggplant curry + jeera rice; there was no flavour, no spice and just overall VERY disappointing. The person i went with ordered a mutton dosa; which he enjoyed, however I found the meat to unseasoned. More importantly the prices were VERY steep; for 2 people it costed us over 70$ which was NOT worth it for the quality of food. Customer service was basically non-existent, the lady who served us looked like the owner. Every time she approached us she was ON HER PHONE! So unprofessional! Would not recommend, maybe we ordered the wrong food.
I ate a dosa, the dosa was really good but I took an egg biriyani it was pathetic! It said “ (chicken curry) ” beside it, I don’t exactly know what it means but I didn’t get any chicken curry!
