Kelly's Bake Shoppe

I was completely blown away by Kelly’s Bake Shoppe! The atmosphere is so beautiful and happy and there’s so much variety to choose from. I’m dairy intolerant and this was the first dairy-free bakery I’ve been to that ACTUALLY tasted even better than a “normal” bakery. I had the brookie cupcake and it was insanely delicious, the flavours balanced each other out perfectly - I’ve never had anything like it. My boyfriend doesn’t have any food allergies and even he said that his Nanaimo bar was the best one he’s ever had! It’s worth it to take the trip to Burlington just to visit Kelly’s! I’ll definitely be back!

The absolute best treats and everybody working here will make it an experience to be there.

My boss brought some donuts from your bakery, for staff to enjoy and omgoodness the donut I had was absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe that this was gluten-free, dairy-free, sweetened naturally. I really enjoyed it! I was going to save a piece for my husband to try BUT it was too good, that I ate it all!

The flavors I tasted. I think it was nutmeg, maybe a pumpkin spice.very flavorful.

I am trying to watch what I eat to manage inflammation, so I stay away from treats, gluten, etc. I'm so happy that I have tasted something from your shop, I will definitely be visiting you with my family.

Very very expensive for what you get, not really worth it in my opinion.your paying for the vegan experience that’s about it, friendly staff and nice looking store but i won’t be returning. Same Taylor ice cream machine that McDonald’s has.

Best gluten free treat shop I've been to, because it's the only gluten free treat shop I've been to.everything is double the price it should be, very sweet to compensate for any actual flavor.

I’ve tried this place a couple times and have to say the cupcakes are the worst things i’ve ever eaten.they are dry, flavourless and not at all a cupcake.all the icings taste the same and the cake itself is dense as the people who opened this place.don’t fall for the lines or hype anyone who recommends this place is lying to themselves.

So overrated! An ok bakery with ok variety with inflated prices. I prefer my deserts a little more sophisticated than cookies and cupcakes. It's cute and location is nice. But the hype of the place missed me completely unfortunately. Service and atmosphere is nice. Though it's a small place to truly chill there.

We were crossing the border into Canada and when we told the agent where we were going she said, “You HAVE to go to Kelly’s Bake Shoppe! It’s so good! ” So we did, and it was! We got brownies and a muffin. Both are amazing! Super cute place too! Loved the story written on the ceiling:)

OMG what are these cupcakes delicious! Georgia was so kind to introduce us to the delicious Coffee Break and the Strawberry Cheesecake We loved them and we came back to buy a box with 4 different flavors to take home

The shop: brilliant, beautiful and well laid out. Downtown burlington is an ideal location. The exterior of the shop looks inviting and the staff were very welcoming, nice and helpful.

The cupcakes: undercooked, chewy batter, and frosting was too sweet and grainy, as if it wasn't blended property. Nearly 30 dollars for 6 cupcakes that were at best 5/10, far too overpriced in my opinion.

After living in Seattle for a number of years AKA the land of most living gluten free vegans, I was super excited to find a bakery in Ontario that was both gluten free and vegan. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I ordered cupcakes for my gender reveal party. The pink icing was so faint that many needed a few minutes to decode them. Next, they were ridiculously sweet! Unexpected from a bakery that is also promoting a healthy lifestyle brand. Very confusing. We also purchased other desserts and found they were all too sweet, loaded with various forms of icing and most didn't look anything like the pictures on the web. Their branding is fun, hip and cute which drew me to the site, but their desserts are lacking. I won't be making another trip here.

Delicious doesn't even begin to describe the yummy items available at Kelly's. The Staff are do easy going, and eager to please. NEVER been disappointed!

Was there today and would like to mention that the staff are always wonderful. I picked up some snickerdoodle cookie sandwiches, I haven’t had them in a few years but back then they were a favourite so I was looking forward to it.

Not only are they much more expensive but the cookie itself was so hard there’s no way it was baked fresh today. Disappointed with the quality especially for the price and sadly won’t be returning.

Our absolute favorite weekly stop for baked goods. We always get the same items: Morning Glory Muffin, High Mile Brownie and Snickerdoodle sandwich. Always fresh and delicious. Highly recommend. Vibe is always kind and positive. Thank you

Lovely bakery, will be getting the gluten free cupcakes for our wedding there! The atmosphere is very cutesy and their cupcakes are delicious. Lots of available flavours and very clean. Would recommend it to anyone to satisfy a gluten free sugar tooth. We will be back!

The staff are always friendly and I love that I can find treats that don't contain my allergens.
If I were only going to review one product (very hard decision, they're all great!) it would be the matcha shortbread. It melts in your mouth and is the perfect size for a treat. Freezes great and our son in AB loves them so much we send them to him (quick delivery method) and we all have them during our virtual movie nights.

These pumpkin spice cookies are delicious but they are SO unbelievably sweet. You can take a half a bite NO more!

Short list of why I dislike this place:
- Cupcakes are disgustingly sweet.
- The blueberry muffin falls apart/crumbles at the touch.
- A lot of their items are way too greasy and have a weird aftertaste.
- Everything is extremely overpriced.
- Both of the owners are so full of themselves. Cringe.
- Staff are super fake in their personalities.

I used to live about an hour away, now I live almost 3 hrs away and I still make the trip every few months to grab sweets. Seriously, I can’t even pick a favourite item on the menu because everything tastes amazing. It’s so wonderful to be able to have so many dessert options that I know I can trust to be allergen-free and taste freakin’ incredible! And they’re always introducing new seasonal items that are equally incredible! Right now they have a bunch of pumpkin desserts for fall and they are to die for! If you are in the area, you need to go try out Kelly’s!

Love this place! I keep coming here because the baked goods are amazing *and* gluten free (vegan too, although that's a bonus). Unique lattes are also on the menu, The Mile High Brownie is a must - but also try the cookie sandwiches; each is a commitment in itself stuffed with super fluffy vegan buttercream.

I love that this place is determined to offer kindness and inclusivity to all and will continue to support Kelly's

When I first walked in it was overwhelming with the selection they had. It took me a while to pick cause I wanted to try everything. The desserts are amazing and staff are so sweet and kind.

Everyone is so friendly and the stuff is delicious! Their points system is also really efficient!

Amazing service. Extremely friendly staff. They serve delicious coffee (Pilot beans) and baked goodies are super tasty. Plenty to choose from. We also enjoyed their soft serve. The most important - inclusive and respectful! Every staff member wears a mask and place is super clean, sanitizer is available. At top of that they try to accommodate everyone and don't discriminate based on your status or your condition.
We will always choose the Kelly's Bakes Shoppe over other businesses! Recommend! And thank you for being so respectful to others human beings.

I surprised my boyfriend with a cookie and cupcake for us to share while we were in town. I got the apple caramel crumble cupcake and a skinny cookie. They were delicious! 5 stars from both of us!

I've been buying from Kelly’s shop for year's and have appreciated the fabulous bake goods, ice cream, dog treats and more. I purchase from them once a week and after my experience today, I’ll have to take a break because I can't support a retail shop that does not require face mask especially those that are not vaccinated. I appreciate that it's a choice for everyone to be vaccinated or not, but to not wear a mask indoors or mandate it, has made me rethink shopping here or recommending it to others. All of this makes me sad and frustrated.

Great options for all allergies! We tried this delicious cookie with lots of seeds and it was heavenly. The cupcakes were good, but I would stick with the cookies or brownies next time I visit.

This is such a charming bakery! We visit regularly and our favourite treats are the brownie trays (perfect hostess gifts or to bring to a play date), morning glory muffins (please bring back pumpkin muffins too!) and matcha cookies! Looking forward to trying the oat milk ice cream soon.

I waited so long to try desserts from Kelly’s. Their Nanaimo bars are absolutely fantastic, but their cupcakes weren’t a hit for me. The staff was also super friendly which made the experience that much better.

We received a beautiful selection of fresh baked items from kelly's bake shopp the other day; every item was delicious and we couldnt get enough; because we indluged before dinner, we were more than happy to take a pass on dinner ;) ; it doesn't get much better than that; it 'made the day awessome for us; thank you kelly's

I have been looking forward to going here for a long time and was finally able to go today! Kelly's Bake Shoppe did not disappoint at all. I love that they respect mask exemptions and the staff are lovely. The frozen yogurt and cupcakes are beyond amazing. The whole place is perfect. LOVE and highly recommend!

Service was 10/5. My partner is immunocompromised and there was a person who refused to wear a mask in the store, so the staff were super accommodating at keeping the unmasked person away from us and then sanitized after them above and beyond what we expected.
Food was also 10/5 as well, the vegan stuff doesn't even taste vegan, great choices and seems like a great place for just about anybody!

Stars lost due to the red velvet cupcake.more like carrot cake than red velvet. The color was actually orange/brown.is it possible the cake was switched

My family arrived from Northern Ontario and we had talked up Kelly’s to them (my Sister in law is Celiac and was so excited to try them). We bought 6 cupcakes all different flavours on Friday July 2nd around 4pm. The lady serving us was rushing us to choose and kept asking us quickly over and over what we wanted, repeating herself not waiting for us to choose. It was off putting and made us feel rushed. We then got home home and cut up all 6 cupcakes in to 4 pieces so we could all try them. Such a disappointment, all the cupcakes were dry. I’ve bought cupcakes before and have been able to eat them days later without them being this dry. So underwhelming and embarrassing considering how much we talked up the cupcakes to our family. I think the owners are becoming arrogant and not caring about the quality of their product anymore. Not caring about their customers experience only about pushing out quantity.

Kelly and Erin are such a beautiful part of the Burlington business community and look for every opportunity to spread love and awareness for all those who need a voice of support. They are absolutely a positive part of our evolving society and run their business with a great sense of responsibility for creating a more peaceful and delicious world! I thank them for their leadership, and their amazing cupcakes.

Kelly's Bake Shoppe is one of my favourite places to go! The desserts are so delicious. Right as I walk through the door, the employees share a big smile which brightens my day every time! The atmosphere is positive and gives off great, welcoming vibes. I highly recommend Kelly's to everyone! You will love it.

So overrated. Cupcakes at their prices should taste divine - Kelly’s are dry and nothing special. They should spend less time on branding and packaging and more time on making a quality cupcake. Customer service is brutal too, employees ignoring people in line to speak to customers, can’t wait for that condo to go up!

I'm shocked at these reviews. "Best cupcakes ever"? Seriously, I've had alternative cupcakes near and far, and these are by far the worst ever. I bought 12 cupcakes, a brownie sundae, and a child size ice cream with a topping for $65.00. The most overpriced, unimpressive cupcakes ever. The soy based ice cream was mediocre at best. The brownies were okay. The cupcake icing tastes like a disgusting oil-based concoction that made me nauseous. The coconut lemon was so dry I couldn't eat it. Please, if you are going to charge and arm and a leg for cupcakes, please at least make them moist, and spring for a decent icing. I don't believe you are paying for a quality cupcake. Seemingly, you are paying for a waterfront, downtown location. I won't be returning. Good chunk of money wasted.

And to respond to the response. I still have the other "coconut lemon" cupcake in my freezer, so I can take a photo and provide it to you. It is a chocolate cupcake and it clearly has coconut lemon on top, and that is how your counter person described it to me when I asked her to name me the flavours. Now you are saying it doesn't exist? As a person who has an interest in everything alternative, and someone who bakes alternative sweets, I stand by my review. I literally could not eat them due to the dryness and the oil based icing. It actually make me nauseous. I had friends with me that day who were of the same opinion. I believe it is a stretch for the absolute BEST alternative cupcake to charge over 5 dollars each, but in my opinion yours doesn't even come close.

Simply the best. My husband and I are at Kelly's 3-4 times a week.
We love that they are open until 9pm on most nights.we come in for date nights quite regularly.

The staff are SO wonderful. The treats are SO delicious.and yes a higher quality product has a higher price tag, but their prices aren't outrageous at all.

We love Kelly's, and can't wait for them to expand and open up more locations.

My red velvet cupcake was Awful. It certainly didn’t taste anything like red velvet. More of a bland carrot cake. When we went in we thought it was all normal deserts with some gluten free options but turns out everything is vegan and gluten free. Everything tasted bland. But the Nanaimo bars are good.

I went here tonight as I saw they were a vegan facility and it is hard to find vegan desserts that actually taste good. As soon as I took one spoonful I knew that this was a good bakery. I was planning to eat half tonight and the rest later but ended up eating the whole thing it was so good. I will definitely be coming back again as well as ordering for family events as a few people in my family are also vegan. Also the staff were so friendly and helpful in making my decision easier. We purchased the desserts for our wedding from Kelly’s Bake Shoppe this past weekend.best decision ever made! I was trying to opt in for assorted baked goods that would accommodate allergies (my brothers are anaphylactic) and other dietary restrictions and Kelly’s Bake Shoppe catered to all of them! I was a bit skeptical on the taste before trying, but once I met with lindsay and tasted everything, I was so pleasantly surprised (and so was my mom)! Lindsay offered to deliver the desserts all the way to Peterborough where the wedding was held and this saved us a lot of stress! The beautiful boxes were a perfect touch - luckily my coulours were pink and gold. We simply placed one box of assorted baked goods on each guest table and they were a hit! My brothers are obsessed and will now be returning weekly for some treats (as will I). Thank you Lindsay for your help and to the team for making such delicious treats for all of my guests to enjoy!

FRIENDS. Kelly's Bake Shoppe is just *kisses fingers*. First and foremost, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and just plain lovely. Secondly - the food. Whether you're vegan or not - their treats are delicious. I love how inclusive this place is, not to mention how sweet they are. I was recently in their with my two toddler boys, and they assisted me every step of the way - from holding the door open as I navigated my giant stroller to making sure I didn't leave with chocolate brownie all over my face #momlife. C'mon people stop throwing away your money on these kinds of places. By these mean ridiculously expensive places that people fall in love with for whatever reason I cannot figure out. If you have a gluten allergy I can understand you coming here but c'mon the prices ARE RIDICULOUS! We paid almost $30 for 2 TINY (1/3rd the size of a Tim Hortons muffin $6 and up), 2 SMALL cookies and one tea. That is absolutely ridiculous. I simply don't get it. The flavour JUST ISN'T THAT GREAT if I'm being completely honest so I truly don't get what the fuss is about. Remember we paid that amount for something roughly ONE THIRD the regular size of muffins/cookies! Try it for yourself and compare it to regular muffins and cookies and you tell me if it's even HALF AS GOOD! Sorry but not going back here again. Only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it has a nice layout

Kelly's made our wedding cake 11 days ago, WOW! We were blown away! It was delicious beyond our expectations. Our family and friends who would not previously touch anything gluten free or vegan are still raving about the rich taste and texture. No other cake shall touch our lips.

My family and I love Kelly's. It truly is the heart and soul of our community.
We are so blessed to have such an iconic business in Burlington. Everyone I know talks about how incredible this place is. How warm, inviting, and absolutely delicious everything is!

The ladies that served us we're absolutely delightful. There was a customer in front of us that was very rude to them, but they maintained their composure and still wished her a wonderful day. They were patient, and answered any questions my friend and I had. The treats we're delicious! Best (and only, because it's impossible to find) vegan soft serve ice cream I've had. I would most definitely come back. It is on the expensive side, however there are affordable dessert options.

Kelly’s Bake Shoppe is incredible! I have always enjoyed all of their baked good, and every time I’m in Burlington I stop in! My husband and chose the shoppe for our wedding cake and it was amazing! We had cupcakes and a two teared cake each with different flavours. All of our guests raved about the cake and cupcakes even if they didn’t have a gluten allergy. The cupcakes were such a cute addition to our cake table, and the cake was stunning! We can’t thank the shoppe enough for adding their amazing work to our special day!

Great selection of gluten free pasteries etc. We needed treats for our celiac crew cheif on boat launch day. I was early but they opened early for me. Really nice staff.

My son has a whole bunch of food allergies and this is a great spot for him. The cupcakes and dessert offerings are surprisingly good! I've started drinking oat milk lattes after trying them here.

Super cute bakery shop in downtown Burlington Ontario. Delicious cupcakes and lots of other desserts! Very friendly staff! There are lots of tables and chairs to enjoy your sweets and have a coffee and relax, looking out the windows to downtown Burlington! A must see when in Burlington! I will definitely go back to try more cupcakes!

Expensive? How much does gas cost for your car? How about those running shoes? How much does a latte at Starbucks cost? Why does anyone mention price when we know the prices are increasing for ingredients all around the world. This is an incredibly healthy food place. It's simple - you get what you pay for.
You want healthy food - pay up. You want cheap food - go to No Frills or other white white and white flour bakeries.
Everything they do is well executed, delicious and the staff are very kind. We love Laurie! She has looked after us for the past 2 years since we discovered this bakery. So friendly!
I can see why they win so many awards and to be allergy-friendly too! That is a bonus! This place is iconic. You have to go!

The overall aesthetics of this place is superior – the marketing, the packaging, and the decor are beautiful. However, where it counts, Kelly’s fails to deliver. On my first visit, I purchased a (as in 1) snickerdoodle cookie sandwich that totalled almost $7 with tax. It took me by complete surprise when my order was rung through. The cookie was decent, but that price is unjustifiable. To add insult to injury, they have the audacity to add a tipping option at checkout. That is criminal at those prices! I had no intentions of returning, as their prices are evidently geared towards the wealthy and elite. That is all fine because those kinds of people can afford those extortionate prices, but you do not need to spend a small fortune to receive quality. The next time I came into contact with Kelly’s was when my sister very graciously purchased a half dozen cupcakes from them for my birthday. I was afraid to inquire about the cost. The cupcakes looked beautiful, but the general consensus among everyone was that they were a bit dry and dense and lacked flavour. I have experimented with gluten-free baking in the past to see what all the hype was about, and I know all too well that gluten-free flour often yields more dense and dry goods. I am vegan, but I do not have celiac disease. The fact that veganism and gluten-free often get mingled together is not only irrational, but it is also damaging to the vegan movement because it promotes veganism as some sort of diet, which it is not. There is absolutely no ‘reputable’ science to support that eating a gluten-free diet is healthy unless you are medically diagnosed by a physician (MD) with celiac disease. We can all thank the Internet and social media for spreading this falsehood that has somehow become common knowledge today. All other people claiming to feel better by eliminating gluten from their diet is purely anecdotal nonsense. This leads me to my next point of Kelly’s promoting their baked goods as a healthy alternative. When refined flour, sugar, and fat are combined regardless of the source, you should not be falsely leading customers to believe it is healthy. Food that is vegan and/or gluten-free does not necessarily coincide with good health. Please do not fall into this trap. Baked goods are an indulgence; they are purely empty calories and should never be advertised as healthy. I find this to be unethical marketing tactics to take advantage of people’s ignorance in order to sell more. If you enjoy the baked goods at Kelly’s, I can respect that, but do not believe you are eating wholesome food.

This is an opinion of course, and not everyone will share it. The majority of the reviews you have are positive. To flag a review because it is critical is shameful and petty. It speaks volumes about you as a business owner. Free speech is not illegal. I have decreased my original 2-star rating to 1 because of this attack. I literally come here every day.it’s that good! Everything on their menu is delicious — from their baked goods to their amazing lattes! It’s a perfect place to give you a bit of sunshine any day of the year!:)

Highly overrated! The cupcakes aren't good but the interior of this location makes it look great however the pastries, cookies and cupcakes are disappointing.

Amazing! The best gluten free bakery I've ever been to. I also used them for my wedding and dessert was wonderful. No one even knew it was gluten free.

Always a treat to visit here. Hugely popular given the queues at certain times. Staff friendly, quick service, lots of choice. Washrooms on site. Parking beside the store.

Great selection and extremely friendly staff. I've tried many different treats over the years and by far their cookies are always my favourite. Their prices can be a bit steep, however, I understand the lengths they go to making their desserts suitable for those with allergies.

Best cupcakes anywhere, hands down! Such a pretty cafe with a gorgeous selection of treats, all vegan and gluten-free! Tip: if you like coconut, get the coconut cupcake and put it in the freezer! It tastes so much better and doesn’t crumble on you as easily!
