Leaving 1 star for a terrible pick up order quality. Although pics in UberEats looked nice, actual rolls were terribly poor. The restaurant used cheapest salmon cuts possible for both rolls and sushi. Omega3 roll was stuffed with salmon belly which should never go near sushi and was so disgusting to eat because of all the fat we had to toss it. Philadelphia maki was covered with paper-thin pre-frozen smoked (!) salmon instead of sashimi grade fresh one. This is a pure scam, do not order here!
My favourite spot for a pickup lunch, especially with their cash and carry specials. Rolls for 5-7 dollars cash for pickup, always available, great value and delicious.
The server was very attentive. I would love to comeback just for the dining experience I had there. The order was accurate. Our server gave good explanation about the food we were ordering.
I’ve been coming here for years and this place use to be the most friendly and welcoming establishment. However things have changed. The service is terrible, the servers are rude, I leave upset every time. I’d recommend INjapan on Atlantic Ave instead! Welcoming staff and a great patio.
Very average sushi. There is much better sushi restaurants on Atlantic Ave, just a block away. I really hate when the salmon maki is made with minced salmon, not chunks of salmon. Cheapskate sushi restaurant do that to re-use salmon leftovers from other rolls. They still charge the same price as if the salmon was first-use though, which is deplorable. The rest is just OK. Nothing special.
Sushi is probably my favorite type of food and kibo is definitely one of the best place in toronto. Their sushi was delicious and very fresh. I would recommend this location to my friends!
No doubt, at the moment, Kibo sushi is the most relevant sushi chain in the city. Consistently convenient and better than average quality sushi… However, this location is by far the worst. In short, the service is DOG WATER. Super overrated and the blanket high rating is because it’s located in Liberty Village.
Best sushi in liberty village. I host a lot of international Dj''s and I always bring them here if they ever have a sushi craving. Not one has complained and have even said it is the best they have ever had. Keep up the inceedible work.
One of the best sushi places I've ever been to. Came here recently to dine-in. Lots of choice and reasonable price!
Had a Maki&Sushi&Sashimi combo B, Assorted Sashimi and some rolls as well! Excellent quality and fresh, rich flavours. It's hard to choose one as everything was delicious!
Staff were amazing and attentive and I will definitely be back soon.
Sushi was great, but the hostess was very rude and unprofessional. She kept on pointing at things instead of helping and didnt even greet anyone. She was not even interested in answering questions about food and was acting like as if the other person was dumb. She was working last Sunday morning, so I would suggest to go there whenever she is not there otherwise she will just ruin your mood.
I really love Kibo, but this place so far is the worst kibo I have been to.
The place itself isn’t clean - the tables, floors, plates.
We were the only customers but we had to wait for food for 20 minutes… when the food came I was shocked!
I ordered California, but ended up eating cucumber! There were no cream cheese, looks like they just smeared a little bit of it on nori and that’s it…
While we were having lunch the kibo waitress didn’t care about us being there and were talking and laughing so loudly that I needed to raise my voice for my boyfriend to hear me.
Always a pleasure dining in and taking out sushi from this place. They have plethora of options to choose from! Tried their gyozas, karage chicken and sashimi too! Everything tastes just perfect.
One of my go-to's in Liberty Village. Prices have gone up over the last two years, including their grab and go cash options - which is understandable, but still one of favorite places in the neighborhood.
I have been here too many times to even count. While they used to have good sushi for the price (which is a very reasonable price), there has been a very noticeable downgrade in quality recently. Our last order had fish that noticeably smelled off, and tasted off. We had to discard of the whole order, since most of the fish varieties had clearly gone bad. This has been a slow trend over the last few months. I would avoid this place for now, until they manage to get their quality back up.
We were in the area for food after being at the Enercare centre. It was the closest area within walking distance for food. We were able to explore a bit of Liberty Village. The atmosphere of this place was very nice. The staff here were also very kind and friendly. For dinner, we got:
Kibo Signature Roll ($11.95) 6 pieces of California roll topped with torched salmon and scallop This was a better version of a regular California roll. If you were planning on getting a California roll, I would recommend upgrading to this fancy version of it.
Omega 3 Roll ($11.95) Salmon avocado roll, topped with salmon and ikura This was my favourite roll that we tried. The fish and salmon were so soft and silky smooth that it just melted on my tongue. I would definitely recommend this roll.
Salmon Tataki ($14.95) Seared with ponzu sauce The flavour of this was great, but I would have loved it if the pieces of salmon were a bit thicker. The plating is also different than the photo. They would not have been able to plate it like the photo because the salmon would be too thin to hold itself up. The salmon was plated on top of a salad. This plate was more reminiscent of a torched salmon salad.
Ebi Shumai ($10.95) 8 pieces of steamed shrimp gyoza Came with broccoli
Spicy Scallop Roll ($7.95) 6 pieces There is not much flavour in scallops, so this roll tasted mainly of spicy mayo, crispy bits and seaweed. I would opt for a different filling next time.
Everything was delicious. However, I had just gotten take out from another Kibo location last week and in comparison, the food here wasn't as good. Overall, the sushi was still above average.
As for the seating, the only thing I did not like about it was that the path to the bathroom would be in the way of staff working. Other than that, the booths were very cozy and it felt very nice to have more of a private dining experience than regular tables.
I have always enjoyed the sushi here however, during my most recent visit there, I had my dog with me and had to bring her in (which I understand is not usually allowed). Mind you, I had to take her in because there was nothing to tie her leash to outside the store. She is a small dog and was in my arms the whole time. My app said that my food was ready for pickup so I thought I could just pick it up and go. However, I had to wait because it wasn’t ready yet.
When my food was finally ready, the server informed me that I could not bring her in next time. I apologized and said that I understood and asked if they could bring my food out to me next time if that’s the case. The server’s reply was, “It’s your dog and your responsibility. If it’s busy, I can’t bring the food out to you”. I explained nicely that I understood that if it was busy I wouldn’t mind waiting since I wanted to comply with their pet rules at which he repeated that it was my responsibility.
I am not trying to argue for preferential treatment here just because I have a pet. It is more of the customer service and way the server spoke to me. I’ve worked in the food service industry for years and know what good customer service is and so for that, I will not be going back. I am giving the restaurant 1 star though because the food frm the kitchen has always been decent. However, there are other restaurants around the city with much better customer service.
I've been to multiple Kibo locations as it's one of my favorite sushi chains and this is easily the worst one. I always order the same item (teriyaki tempura bento set) so I can easily compare the standard across locations.
First, the rice was clumpy and not fresh. I don't think I've eaten such bad rice at a restaurant. The salmon was bland as well. The only saving grace was the shrimp tempura, which was crispy and delicious. However, the bad rice and lackluster salmon were too hard to ignore.
Also, the water was very obviously unfiltered tap water. I never thought I'd see the day where I complain about water at a restaurant, but here we are.
Nice place in a quaint corner of Liberty Village. Good ambience and great food at affordable prices. A lot of variety in the food menu too. Worth the visit.
I've been going to Kibo since this location opened. It's become a routine. Everything is always fresh and made incredibly well. Excellent sushi. Tastes great and very consistent
Alvin, thank you for the welcome platter to us at Chatime Liberty Village. I've eaten at your location for several years and not only is the food fantastic, the service is always amazing. Thank you so much for making us feel welcomed to the neighborhood.
Tried takeout from these guys for the first time today. Fantastic! They're now my favourite sushi place in the area. Prices are very reasonable especially if you can snag a 5$ roll, but still true even if you can't. (Our total came to less than what we'd pay at our normal favourite in Mississauga, and we ordered an extra roll.) Staff are very nice! They don't skimp - Dynamite rolls have 5 fillings: tempura shrimp, tempura yam, crab, cucumber, and avocado.more than I've seen anywhere else. They're also generous in the sizes of the rolls. We couldn't finish our lunch so we'll have the rest for dinner! Oh, and it wouldn't have jumped to our favourite if it weren't so wonderfully fresh! No sinew, no chewiness, just really good pieces of really good sushi.
Been to this location on two separate occasions and has to say it is my fav sushi place in town. The service is always amazing. And the place is very clean. Would recommend!
Amazing! The food is always delicious, fresh and great quality and value! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Their veggie daily special is soo good!
The busiest location I've been to and theyre doing an amazing job! They tell us an accurate time when my order is ready and they get out orders quick and fresh. Delicious. Thank you so much!
The meal not bad thou I found nothing special of it. Not the best client service experience so far as I found myself waiting at pickup while staff went about their routine oblivious.
I used to love their sushi, until today when the Maki Platter that I get all the time didn’t taste the same. I got a surprised pickle onion in my of my rolls. My brother agreed, he said he was disappointed. He said it didn’t taste the same. I even called the restaurant to find out if they had changed their menu but the girl that answered didn’t really understand what I was trying to tell her. Now I’m searching for a new sushi place.
This is my go to sushi spot in the village. I've been ordering from here for some years now and it has always been a good experience. Friendly staff, great service and the food never disappoints. Keep up the great work guys!
It's the place with the most delicious food. Number one in our district. All our orders were always on time, no delays. I ordered there many-many times. They are excellent! It's the must to try place. Wish them all the best and keep that way. Thank you for the good work!
Probably have ordered from here 20+ times in the past year. Fish is always fresh, the people are friendly and the spicy pork is absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. Wish that we could eat there all the time.
1. Maki rolls fall apart, not right at all. Can’t eat the roll as it falls apart 2. Poor customer service. 3. Overpriced for rolls that fall apart and cut thin 4. Orders are always done incorrectly, never the correct amount of food. 5. Going elsewhere.
Edit: Management has reached out and surprised with a very reasonable explanation, was not expecting that. I take back the 3 star and give them 5 stars.
As far as the food goes, 5 stars, hands down. Where this place lost me was the customer service. I called in to make an order for pick up as well as ask if I could order just a plain salmon roll as the only option was spicy salmon. Usually that wouldn’t be an issue but I recently had an operation done on my stomach and can’t have spicy food. When I asked if they could hold off on the spicy mayo I was told that I would be charged for it as the spicy salmon is pre mixed with sauce and tempura bits. I was then told I could not make an order over the phone and would have to make an account on their site and order there which was one heck of a process but I went through with it and once we got the food back to my friends apartment, I opened the food up and sure enough the spicy salmon rolls were literally just salmon rolls with spicy mayo squirted on top. Was definitely not happy with that and it was unfortunate that there were no regular salmon maki rolls on the menu yet I could order salmon handrolls, sashimi and sushi. Nonetheless the food was really good and I’d definitely recommend it.
I’ve never had better service in Toronto to this day. The owner and servers are extremely friendly. They remember you if you go in often. Even when we order via Ritual or Uber Eats, they will often throw in a free dish. If we dine in, they will offer a free sake shot or something else. It is a pleasure to go to Kibo. Not to mention the sushi is 1st class. The restaurant atmosphere is amazing, especially after their renovations. Our favourites are the yam avocado roll, asparagus tempura roll, and the agadashi tofu.
Food is sincerely amazing. We went crazy and tried out many different plates, everything was top notch and service was so friendly. Don't hesitate to try it out!
I go to this lovely spot from time to time! This is my favorite place to eat. I go there many times. The meals are very good, the team is friendly and the prices are fair. I like going in this place to have a decent dinner.
Like other Kibo locations, the Liberty Village Kibo strikes a good balance between price and quality. Their $5 and $10 grab-and-go deals are a weekly staple for me. I don't think I have ever gotten low quality fish there.
This particular location has incredibly friendly and customer service-oriented staff. In particular one of the managers, MJ, is a very kind and attentive soul who goes above and beyond every time I see him. He remembers me by name, and always seems upbeat.
I (only once) had a less-than-great experience with takeout at this location. My order was made totally wrong, and it took longer than expected. I marched back in, plastic sushi tray in clenched fist, frustrated with the situation. They went so far above and beyond to make sure I left happy and satisfied - not only that time, but every time since - that I feel compelled to shout them out for their outstanding ability to recognize and correct mistakes. What more can you ask from an establishment?
This place has really good food always, but the service is always lacking. Eat in or take out haven't had a good customer service experience yet. Recently placed an order online - waited 40 mins for the live tracking app to change.after it being stuck in processed for 40 mins I figured it was broken and went to the store to pick it up. When I got there they obviously forgot to confirm my order because when I said I have an order for pick up she looked up my name, the live tracking immediately changed to preparation and the lady handed the receipt to the kitchen. Other time, I tried to dine in with my girl friend, we waited close to 10 mins at the front for someone to even acknowledge we were standing there and to seat us.
Each time I've been to this place, it's been after a Toronto FC match so it's generally pretty busy at Liberty Village.
Food quality and presentation are both really good.
They appear to get a lot of orders from Food Delivery services so it sometimes appears that they are prioritizing those over seated patrons. Just stay on top of your server, as I've only ever seen two working the floor.
No worries about bringing kids, as I've brought my three children here with no issues.
Great place to eat after a trip to BMO or CNE, especially if you don't feel like one of the myriad gastropubs around Liberty Village
Great place for sushi! Very friendly and accommodating staff and great food! Service was fast. Definitely recommend for small groups and dates for dinner. They also do take out of you want to eat at home, or if you want something quicker, they have ready-made sushi that you can grab and go for a meal on the go.
Owner/manager was super friendly and helpful to our group of 6. Service was quick and food was great. We ordered the love boat for 4 and 2 more sushi rolls but ended up being too much. Think there was enough food in the boat for all 6 of us. Forgot my purse and received a text within minutes to notify me and made sure I got it back. Great service and overall experience.
Food is not bad. However the customer service is terrible especially when you call for take out order. When they are busy. And you are trying to order your items they are rude about it. Or put you on hold and never come back. One time waited 15 minutes just to see if they come back. They did not.
The decor could use an overhaul. The garden salad and miso soup were fairly standard fare. But the sashimi and sushi were simply exceptional. The quality, freshness and flavour of the fish was bar none. And really, that's what matters most for me for a sushi restaurant.
Honestly, I expected this sushi to not be great, but everyone kept telling me to go so I finally gave in and went. I was quite surprised. Everything was decently fresh and they had quite a good range of options. Not the best sushi I've had but hard to argue for the price. Will most likely be coming back.
I wish I could say something about the food. But sadly wasn't even given the menu when we entered the restaurant. It was taking so long that the table beside us offered to give their menu. We weren't acknowledged for 45 mins. And I wish I was exaggerating. Had to walk out.
Great sashimi, very fresh - spicy chicken karaage was delicious. Service was friendly, quick, courteous in a fittingly modern and fun atmosphere with some of the most reasonably priced but high quality sushi in Toronto.
Don't order through Ritual or online. Go in - there is tons of prepared fresh that day sushi ready to go. It's $5 for 8 pieces. Value for money it's worth it.
