It looks like the stone pot bibimbap was cooked over some kind of fire and the bowl was heated. Not a single piece of crust was sticking and the bottom was scratched so gently… What is the reason you came to eat stone pot bibimbap instead of regular bibimbap?
The food was very tasty, lots of small side dishes.the service was fast what really made this remarkable is the owner (we think?) Who came in to explain each plate, show us that they share recepies on insta. The attention and care really made this an experience.
Un peu plus cher que ce que j'ai l'habitude de payer quand je vais au resto, mais quelle aubaine pour une expérience culinaire et culturelle en toute simplicité!
First time visit (lunch, 12pm). Gets busy quickly, friendly efficient staff. I had the spicy beef soup (pictured), which comes with rice on the side -be warned it is very spicy and its a BIG bowl! Expect to pay around $20-$30 per person including tax.
It was delicious, but the japchae was a bit salty and sweet. Gamjatang was informed that it would be very spicy, but it was not really spicy for Korean taste. If you're having trouble choosing between Japchae and Gamjatang, try Gamjatang.
Service was greeeeat, everyone is so friendly and responsive. Food was also delish, fresh, hot and comes in the correct serving sizes according to the price. The restaurant itself is clean and well located.
The only thing that wasn't great was how close the tables were to each other; I got to hear lots of juicy gossip about my dining neighbor's ex boyfriend though.
The COVID precautions taken here are really poor. Sure they have removable dividers between tables. But they use the same dirty table cloth to wipe the table and don't even spray any disinfecting fluid to wipe it. The table they gave us had leftover food bits from the previous customers - it's gross. Then they use the same table cloth to wipe the next table - no disinfecting fluid. So transfer of bacteria from one table to another.
Also the table closest to the front window has a waiting bench right behind it. They should not allow waiting customers to sit there, because when people are seated at that table eating without mask, and there's other customers sitting in that waiting area - there is no physical distancing - it's too close behind the dining table.
The waitstaff are not mindful for cleanliness - when they brought out our seaweed salad appetizer, their hand was touching the cucumber they used to garnish the salad. So we had to dispose of that portion. Also, when we asked them for a takeout box, they came back with the box and their hand is inside the box - disgusting - plus the hand had bandages all over.
Also, the boss of the restaurant comes out and keeps staring at you when she wants you to leave. We didn't even get a chance to finish the tea that we paid for.
We ordered the cold noodles (5/5 stars), seafood pancake (5/5 stars), pork bibimbap (2/5 stars). Although overall the food is good, but the lack of cleanliness and proper covid precautions brings it down to 1 star rating. Need to do better to keep customers safe.
This place has amazing food! Went here for the first time yesterday with some friends and the food was tasty. The service was awesome! Would definitely come back here & eat again. Highly recommended.:)
The service was so great. I did not think I would be able to finish my food. They gave me time to eat my food and did not push. Food was amazing. Definetly will come back.
First time trying Korean food; so glad we came to Kimchi Korea House! The meal was FANTASTIC. Great service, friendly staff. And the food! Most experiences eating out leave me underwhelmed, this place was amazing. Will definitely be back again. So delicious! Deserves 6 stars!
Great spot for Korean food that doesn't break the bank. Appetizers are free, tasty, and authentic- especially the kimchi. The servers were very nice and enthusiastic. The decor and music also add to the Korean atmosphere. Will be back for takeout!
The side dishes are so fresh and much better than the other korean restaurants i went to. Food has good portions and reasonable price. Service was friendly and everything was very sanitary during covid. I really like the porkbone soup and cold noodle here
I rarely go downtown but the other day my friend and I went to spend the night and try new things. Funny story as to how we ended up at kimchi, but to keep it short a man waved at us to come in from the window, said the food was fantastic and he wasn’t lying, not only that so was the service. Funny cause the night before we saw a couple get waved to come into another restaurant the same way, who would’ve thought it’d happen to us the very next day.
My friend has never had Korean food before, and what I believe was the manager, who was very friendly, came out on her own initiative to show us what’s good. What was served was good all around, and probably the best breaded sweet/spicy chicken and shrimp stir fry I’ve ever had in recent memory. And to top it off the man that waved for us to come in paid for our meal to our surprise, we were also gifted with free samples for my friend to try to explore some new taste buds.
Overall, it was a great and friendly environment, great tasting food and service, would definitely recommend if you’re in the downtown Dundas areas, I certainly will be.
Thanks for the great experience, you really made our day:)
I was craving for Korean food one day.went online and found this place. Supposedly this place is one of the best Korean restaurants in Toronto, according to BlogTO.
Alas, it was a big disappointment. I've frequented many Korean food establishments in Toronto, this is evidently not the best. In fact, quite the opposite! They don't even have unlimited side dishes! Blasphemous!
The bulgogi had a weird fishy taste, the meat was overdone (the meat turns powdery when you chew into it — definitely not fresh). Some pieces of beef even oozes out weird funky blood tasting substances. Yikes.
The Naeng Myun was pretty decent — hard to screw this up. Although the broth tasted a bit flat.
BEST KOREAN FOOD AROUND! And I live just south of Korea Town. Mama Lee's kimchi recipe is amazing, and essentials menu items like japchae, bulgogi, tteokbokki, etc (the list goes on) will have you coming back again and again.
Listen, not only are Diana and Mama Lee the loveliest people in the city, their food is absolutely bomb. You know when they say you can taste the love they put into their food? You literally can here. Plus, you learn so much about Korean food from their Instagram! Go eat here, you won’t regret it. The flavours are beautiful balanced, the textures are well thought out! Don’t sleep on the kimchi, banchan and kimchi jiggae ️️️
Staff is very friendly and service was quick. Got bibimbap to go. There aren't too many vegan/vegetarian options. We had vegan bibimbap and tofu teriyaki appetizer. They both tasted the same (almost like the tofu teriyaki was supplemented with rice and bean sprouts to make it a bibimbap). Might go back to try something else and update this review when I do.
Good food and service. The staff was able to accommodate my gluten free food restriction. A waiter even wrote a list of what I can eat there for future visits
Two words: Ramp Kimchi! Make sure you don’t miss next season’s batch:)
Such kind people who contacted me when they had a no-show for their highly coveted ramp kimchi - when they knew I had missed out on it. So very thoughtful! And they threw in some complementary soy pickled ramps for me to try, too!
