Lovely, fancy little ramen shop in T and T mall. Having had ramen all over the world I’m always amazed how foreign countries try and elevate ramen to the level of haute cuisine, at least the settings seem so.
Noodles are an honest interpretation of the humble chasiu ramen with a nice broth. Nice presentation and cute utensils and origami hashi rest. The menu printed in plain paper is kind of interesting.
Overall was happy with my meal and will recommend to others.
Good stuff although not a lot of ramen options for vegetarians. I also wish they had the option to choose the type of soup base and noodles for the vegan ramen like they do for the other ramen, feels discriminatory: p as the spicy miso soup base is really good!
Great atmosphere. Clean washrooms. Service was friendly and food came quickly! My teenager was so happy with his pork miso ramen that he ordered another bowl! Delicious! Thanks!
Went on a frigid January day to get some winter comfort food. Really fast and kind service on this quiet visit. Food was nice and did send me back to memories of having ramen in Japan. Menu is very focused but still branches out from just ramen to Poke Bowls. Really nice option for Ramen in a quieter part of town.
My kid and I shared the lotus chips, then I had the vegan Ramen bowl and they had the salmon poke bowl. Everything was very yummy. The sauce with the poke bowl was delicious. Nice location and ambience if you want to sit down and they do takeout as well.
By far the BEST ramen I had! It was the Kimono ramen with original spicy broth and thin noodles. The broth itself was to die for. So much meat in the bowl, it is hard to finish. Highly recommended.
We had the spicy salmon inari bomb. Sooo good! One of the best poke I have ever had, everything was super fresh, especially the tuna. My partner had the kimonos ramen, it’s got a little bit of everything in it. Definitely not what I was expecting as it is not traditional, but surprisingly delicious. Restaurant is beautifully done and clean. Our server was excellent also. Def looking forward to next time!
Wife and I decided to try this place for dinner because we love Ramen. Note that is this NOT your traditional Ramen house. The decor is very modern which is nice but I noticed that some of the tables which were empty where filthy with food and whatnot. The service was so-so. When we sat ourselves down we waited for at least 5-10 min until the waiter asked if we have been served. We ordered our food. Wife asked for the Pork Ramen with no corn and I ordered the DanDan since I've never tried it before. When the food finally arrived the presentation was really nice but my wife's dish had corn in it and it tasted pretty bland. The pork was mostly fat too and needed more cooking time which was disappointing, though the DanDan was pretty good since this was the first time I've had it. Suffice to say we will not be going back to this place and we don't recommend it to Ramen lovers like us.
Nice atmosphere. The server was friendly. Unfortunately, the taste of the dishes did not match their presentation. The chashu in the ramen was not braised well enough as the meat was still very tough and chewy. The sushi rice in the poké bowl was over seasoned with vinegar making the rice taste very sour.
Driven by this place a few times and decided to give it a try. Very beautiful decor and excellent service. The presentation of the food was beautiful! The chicken Karaage was done perfectly.crispy, juicy and full of flavor. The Rainbow Poke was huge and had very good flavors and all ingredients were super fresh. Unfortunately the Cha Su Ramen and Dan Dan were quite bland.was that a one off? Will have to try again in the future and see. Enjoy.
Went for lunch, right during the 12-1pm lunch hour. It took a long time to be seated. The waitress was great, but there was only one and I believe she had too many tables to take care of. I had the beef gyoza and it was nice, but not exceptional. I also had the pork ramen with original broth, and again, it was fine, but not exceptional. The flavours were soft and not terribly complex or rich. A nice warm soup on a cold day. If I go back I’ll definitely try the poke bowl, but I wouldn’t order the ramen again.
Dinner was delicious. My wife and I landed here for dinner on a Saturday night out. The chicken cha shu was one of the best ramen bowls I’ve had in the city. We also had the gyoza and the Dan Dan noodles, which both were tasty. The only knocks I would give this place is that it is ‘not yet licensed’ as stated on the menu. I think a liquor license would do this establishment very well. Also, they are set to close at 9, and at about 8: 15 on a Saturday, the 2 young staff members decided to turn the music off as to signal to the 10 or so people who remained, that the evening was over. I believe if you are listed as open until a certain time, that is when you refrain from taking new tables. Not when the staff gets to be walking out the door. It was definitely a turn off as we had resos for 8 o’clock and had only just received our mains. We instantly felt unwelcome and rushed. Not the best approach to building a regular clientele for a new establishment. However, once again, the food was great. I will go back, but will make sure it is earlier in the evening as to not put out the young staff.
The absolute best ramen in Ottawa! It has a nice fusion kick to it! You will not be disappointed! The restaurant itself is super chic and trendy. The ramen is INCREDIBLE! Great atmosphere and great food. Do yourself a favour and go to Kimonos! You will never eat ramen anywhere else again! If I could, I would give Kimonos 10 stars!
Deco: 5 Service: 5 Food: 3 Like other commenters pointed out, the deco and service is on point. However the food is not good. Cha Shu Ramen ($18) is salty and tasted like watered down frozen ramen pack. The rice in the rainbow poke bowl ($26) is very hard. Sauce on shrimp tempura made it very salty. The chef needs to fix his recipes (especially on the salt use) or else I don’t see how this place would last.
Amazing service! Top notch waitress who checked up on us regularly. Food was pretty delicious and the vibe was exactly what we would expect. Absolutely worth a visit
Worst ramen ever had in Ottawa. Waited for 30 mins to have a bowl of ramen. The waitress is friendly, but the food is aweful. The chicken karaage is way toooooo salty, and the ramen is not authentic at all: tastes like water mixed with some sauces. Not recommend at all, save the money and go somewhere else.
Has to be the best Ramen places I’ve been to. I highly recommend kimonos if you’re looking for a great ramen restaurant. Will have to try their poke next. Restaurant is beautiful, and the menu is quite big comparing to other ramen shops.
Wow. What a disappointment. The noodle itself is not authentic. Broth is sour and salty. Chashu was grilled without any seasoning. They claim they’re authentic traditional Japanese ramen - They are NOT. Looking for ramen? Go to Isssin or Sansotei.
All around a great experience great service and great ramen. I had the chicken ramen with spicy original broth and it was delicious noodles were a little thinner than I personally prefer but it was still delicious they also have a good amount of variety on their menu which is something certain ramen places in Ottawa struggle with. Recommend if you're looking for a new ramen spot to try.
I was reallllly hoping this would be our new go to place for ramen since it is so close to our house. But sadly it is not. I did a pick up order yesterday. The restaurant itself is beautiful with very nice decor. However, the ramen itself fell short in my opinion. I got the pork ramen—I did not find the broth to be very rich, the pork was tough and the noodles were disappointing. I got my husband the Kimono one with a bit of everything —he liked it, but agreed he’s had better. Our 3 year old was happy with the extra noodles and broth we ordered. I would still like to go back and dine in to try their poke another time, and hope it is much better than their ramen.
We're still dreaming about those delicious Inari Bombs and will definitely be doubling our order next time! The Chicken Karaage was also delicious. We ordered one original chicken, and one miso chicken soup and both were presented beautifully. The eggs were perfectly done, the noodles had a perfect chewiness and the broth was very tasty.
A delightfully affordable experience and we will definitely be returning!
