Kingston General Hospital

I hope there are no big wigs getting money at the top because they don't deserve it! When you get your parent in their 70's to drive you an hour there in the pitch black morning only to be told almost 5 hours later that your surgery is cancelled it's B. S.what's being done to prevent this? Who's sitting in a room solving these problems? 2 stars because "some" of the staff are great and it's a wonder they don't leave.

Absolutely terrible NICU staff. AND terrible ICU staff. DO NOT HAVE YOUR CHILD HERE! DO NOT COME HERE IF SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG YOU WILL NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

I went for an angiogram today and the whole process from the initial booking, follow up reminder phone calls to the admission desk and ultimately the procedure was top notch. Dr McLellan and the nurses in the cardio dept were fantastic in explaining everything that would happen and the procedure went exactly as they told me. The nurses could not have been more helpful during my recovery and Dr McLellan came and explained the results and answered my questions. Five star rating, excellent experience.

The staff are extremely hard working and compassionate. I had my first experience with KGH this week after moving to the area 2 years ago. I was a little concerned at how worn and tired the ER looked but it did not matter to my care as I was well looked after by a highly functioning team in spite of being overcrowded and overworked. I have a lot of respect for the caregivers I met and hope we can give them much more support.

Drove over an hour to have my mom seen at KGH only for the triage nurse to completely lack any sympathy or even pay attention to my mom. She asked my mom a question about her medications and then proceeded to answer a phone call (not to mention taking her mask off after making a fuss about how it’s required that my mom wears one despite her lung issues, and other people not wearing one including other staff), then talk to her friend, and then when my mom tried to answer her question after she thought she was done gabbing, she cut her off. Needless to say, not impressed one bit.

I came to KGH last Monday as I was having horrible stomach problems.
The man that was on triage was really nice, as well as registration.
I waited an hour and a nurse came and got my blood, she was very caring, and knew how to make someone laugh in a low spirit.
But my biggest issue with this hospital, was the waiting.
I waited nearly 8 hours to see a doctor being in terrible stomach pain, and people with sprained fingers were going in before me. I left as I was in so much pain, and I was just ready to pass out.

Being a wheelchair user the parking is terrible and not compliant and the route to entrance can be hazardous for some. My wife had to assist and elderly women which security walked past without helping her. I spend lots of time here as I am disabled and also bring my elderly mom. It's OK if your being dropped off but being a disabled driver there is never a place to park as person with disabilities parking is full of no placard drivers. Talked with security and they allowed me parking in a no parking zone but told me to hurry. This I cannot control as you cannot hurry medical appointments

I took my mom from Trenton to Kingston as she had surgery on Mon August 21 2023 and figured it be a better emergency department to go to but I sure was wrong we arrived at 7: 50 finally got into the emergency area at around 1: 30 am around 3 am I asked how long it was going to be before we seen a doctor seen as my mom surgery that she had on her face had swollen out like a baseball and they said oh I don't know no one looked at her face or touched it were it was red nothing it is pretty bad to travel an hour for really bad result would not recommended to anyone to go to kgh.

Unfortunately my Spouse has endured 5 different Stomach operations and/or reparations. Generally we have always been treated with respect and dignity becoming of a model Emergency Response Department.
Only once at Hotel Dieu a sister Hospital Unit did we ever feel it necessary to File a Complaint. It was handled swiftly and fairly to both sides. On a subsequent Emergency visit the same Dr.attended upon my Spouse and he was exceptional in manner, deportment and made a very good treatment Plan. We are not always perfect in our Day to day lives and how you learn from mistakes separates out the true Professionals.
The latest visit was by Ambulance and the protocol followed right from the Para-Medics in the Ambulance to the Doctors and Nurses in the ER. After examining the Blood levels she was admitted to a Dietary Ward. Again they were sensitive to our concern that food was not being ingested and vomiting and reaching needed to be examined with several bags of IV for re-hydration of fluids. The Dr.reviewing her condition has involved both of us in trying to stop weight Loss of 30 lbs over 4 months and 10 in the last Week.
As a post Retirement job in addition to Umpiring I work at Papa John's Pizza. It was my pleasure to bring 3 Pizzas and a Large Cream Soda for the Drs Nurses and Orderlies on Connel Floor 3. It was a small token of our appreciation of their effort to finally get to the root of her gastric issues and daily pain.

As a patient and worker for KHSC I have seen nothing but professionalism, kindness and staff working together as a team to provide the upmost patient care. I trust and respect our hospital staff and the care it provides for our communities.

We had an exceptional experience at the labour and delivery department of Kingston General Hospital, and it wouldn't have been the same without the amazing team that took care of us. Dr. Gibson and Nurses Leila and Abbey were outstanding in their roles. Dr. Gibson's expertise and reassuring presence helped us feel confident throughout the entire process. Nurses Leila and Abbey's compassion and attentiveness made us feel cared for and supported. Together, they formed a remarkable team that made our journey into parenthood a truly positive and memorable one. We are deeply grateful for their contributions and the exceptional care they provided.

Great hospital but it's very large. Its confusing where to go, you can get help. Someone will come and take you where you are supose to go.

I would like to convey my sincere thank to all the doctors team, nurses, and staff of Labour and Delivery, and Postpartum Departments. They work very professional and efficient. One after other, all kind of situations teams were ready for action to save new life and existing life. My family and I were impressed with their efforts and work. Their service was admirable.
Hope it stays like that for everyone in need for years and years.

Couldn’t have been more thankful for the nurses and doctors that I had at the women’s clinic! Absolutely amazing and super friendly. Especially Danielle thank you for being so kind!

The pediatric unit is amazing. They are warm and welcoming and made my scared little girl feel safe and at ease with their kindness and compassion. Also thank you to volunteers who check in to make sure everyone has their needs met, supply activities and books etc. Staff, volunteers, donors and whoever else who comes together to make a childs stay in the hospital as comfortable as possible, thank you

I don’t like to leave a bad review of people who spend their lives helping others, but I feel it’s important to show the poor policies they have in place. I waited 9 hours with a kidney stone and was repeatedly vomiting in the bathroom from the severe pain. I told the staff at least 6 times that I was in extreme pain and needed help and kept asking if there was anything they could do. Triage exists for a reason, I shouldn’t be less of a priority than a drunk guy who sprained his ankle and got there AFTER me and was let in before me. He was still walking perfectly fine and I saw him leave not long after. Really disappointing experience.

Thank you Dr. Tessier for your thoroughness and time. I felt listened to and well taken care of by everyone I had contact with today.
