Highly unprofessional. It takes approximately a week of calling daily to get someone to answer the phone. Voicemails are not returned. They called and spoke to references before even speaking to the applicant.

They're a horrible organization. They make their adoption process ridiculously invasive and judgemental. If you don't tick a box (an irrelevant one, for that matter) they deny you. Their screening process is arbitrary. I think someone should call for a forensic audit.

Friendly staff at the Kingston Office. A variety of Kittens were available for their Forever Home. I found my Little Forever Female Kitten. Now i await the adoption process.

Kind and friendly, understanding, very informative. I always see them walking the dogs that are there and I don't just mean to the end of the yard. I mean around the block and then some if the pup is up for it. Good experience!

Great service for pets that find themselves without a family. Adopted my loving hound dog here and was surprised to find out he is a pure American foxhound. Don't have time for your own pet? Go volunteer the animals love getting new people to interact with and it helps the hard working staff give the loving attention that these animals desperately deserve. It is also a ton of fun and a good way to stay active.
14 December 2022 22:09
The staff works tirelessly to provide the best care for all the animals here. Adopt, foster, donate, or volunteer!
22 November 2022 7:12
All staff caring and helpful. They go to work every day overwhelmed but manage to keep positive and the establishment up and running. We'll run and clean. Good job.

When I adopted my cat the staff were amazing in all aspects of the adoption process. Couldn't be happier.

I adopted a stray adult cat she's hiding a lot but hoping she'll feel more comfortable soon or in time hopefully will accept living with my 2 chiuahuas they're so sweet they respect her space under bed and poke their little face to visit her once in a while lol I named her Lilly instead of Emy like the Queen's nickname Lilabeth lol she's very shy though hope this will improve in time I have Faith She has a home just us three lol my babies
28 October 2022 21:28
Staff has always been amazing from our experience buying 2 cats through them and dropping off strays.
14 October 2022 1:32
I am currently a foster parent and I can't say enough great things about the staff. They go above and beyond for all the animals that are in their care. They are always looking for food donations or a monetary donation.

Wonderful place. It’s sad so many people adopted pets during the pandemic and now are returning them as they somehow cannot continue providing for them. They shouldn’t be allowed to adopt in the first place.

This is a very kind place and alot of the staff have a really big heart! The staff are patient, kind and respectful to the clients that come to see them. They answer questions to the best of their ability and they work hard to take care of the animals there. Their love of animals is evident. I personally wish they had the funds to have a location with a larger facility and more outdoor space. (Especially so dogs can really run!) They are in an industrial area but the staff don't complain and do their best. I know they look to place the animals in their care in forever homes! The more people who adopt the happier the animals will be. More people should adopt the dogs. (Not to forget the cats because there seems to be alot on the website). I think its important to remember these little animals all need forever homes because all the animals there are amazing! Having a pet is a wonderful experience and it's important to keep them whenever possible.

Very patient, helpful, and positive staff. Thank you very much for taking care of all the lives that otherwise would not have a place to go, or worse.
Also, was informed about the many cats that need homes, in the Kingston area. For $50, a cat from KHS can be micro chipped, spayed/neutered with first shots, and be adopted to go home with you for comapnionship.
Thereby, giving them a safe, and loving home, care provision, and providing another space for another cat that needs care within their space. They are overloaded, especially due to Covid 19, but somehow make it all work! Amazing, and I Thank You Very Much!

Horrible place for cats. Last time I visited, a year ago? The cats were in tiny cages and the rooms
smelt absolutely horrid. Each cat had their own litter box and it showed that they hadn’t been cleaned or emptied in atleast weeks. I felt so bad for the precious kitties, having to live in filth, because of neglect from the organization that’s supposed to be so “humane” and care for them.

If you truly love animals, don’t bring them to Kingston humane society, they’re Inhumane.

Incredible support and care. Helped us immensely through a fostering situation right through to us adopting our amazing pup!
26 May 2021 22:04
I had a racoon with rabies in my yard. Tried contacting the humane society to see if they can deal with it. Was on the phone for 15 minutes trying to navigate their automated system. Was never connected to a person. Racoon left. Hopefully didn't bite anyone. Please consider having an emergency option that functions with reality.

I have fostered through the Kingston Humane Society and had the pleasure to interact with many of their staff! They care so much about their animals and go above and beyond to ensure they are fostered out to safe and loving homes!

Friends of mine are having their dog removed from their care as the dog escaped a fenced yard while at the park. The dog was missing and everyone did everything they could to bring him home. They finally found him about 2 weeks later literally blocks from his home. He made his way so close to home and back to his brother and now they're saying they're unfit to keep him. Poor judgment on their part. They are willing to do everything in their power to prevent this from happening again and did everything in their power to bring him home, when in reality he made it almost home on his own.

Poor decision making when it comes to getting an animal into a loving and caring home. Apparently animals are better there in cages than in a loving home with a companion dog that an adopted animal gets along and bonds well with.

Would not recommend supporting an organization that prevents an animal from remaining in a furever home
23 March 2021 14:08
We adopted a kitty. The care shown by staff to make sure she was ready for her furever home was outstanding

I got my cat, Myla from there in the 90s. We were short a few dollars ($3) and so we couldn't get her - but one of the ladies who worked there at the time paid the difference for us. She moved to New Brunswick with my family a few years later and that is where she spent the rest of her days. She had a lot of kidney problems and she passed away at about 10 years old, but those were precious 10 years and I still miss her today in 2020.

Been involved with KHS off and on for a few years. Great place to find adoptable animals at a reasonable price. Shelter is very clean, staff friendly and I saved the life of a 3 month old kitten over five years ago. They have been in existence for a long time so they are doing something right.

I have a stray cat problem in my rural area. I've started trapping them, young and old and the HS takes them with open arms. They open their door off hours, and everyone genuinely seems to love and care about the kittens. Good group!

Very patient staff. Not rushing to move us along until we were ready to take our adopted dog home.
21 December 2019 11:29
The adoption process was very easy and the staff was just as excited as we were when we adopted Nova. They were so caring and called to follow up a couple weeks later to see how she was adapting. This was our first cat, and they were patient with all the questions we had. 10/10 would recommend!

This place is great staff the animals are well taken care of and my daughter enjoys volunteering there now as well.

I gave these guys a 5 star rating due to the facts that they are very organized and as far as I have ever seen they are very humane and decent to the animals and are entry personable and professional and polite to the public people. I would just like to see more people recognize them and give some praise and thanks as their jobs are important and necessary. So on behalf of all Thank You.

We have toby and we have had him now for 4 years. Very muched loved. I agree that if I too had the money I would build brand new building with lots of room.
16 September 2019 19:10
The work so hard and don't receive the credit they deserve. If I had the money I would buy them land and build them a bigger, updated facility. They have given me my fur-baby Hiro, once known as Chris. He was a meat farm survivor from South Korea. He has brought so much joy into my life, earning his love and trust was not simple.but the feelings that overwhelmed me when he gave me that first kiss on my hand to the snuggles I go to sleep with and wake up to are indescribable. He is my best friend, my fur-son and has forever changed my life. So. A big thank you to the staff and organization for making every day of my life filled with love, happiness, patience and understanding.

They are doing an amazing job with very friendly staff. Keep up the good work guys and a big shout out to Humane Society Canada. Adopt a pet today!
14 August 2019 4:20
Excellent wheelchair accessibility, both to the facility and to the dogs available for adoption. Great work!
27 July 2019 14:36
The staff is awesome and friendly and understood that even though our cat was adopted out before we realized he was there they had done everything to try to get him back to us but was too late. But his new owners returned him as he was not happy there now we get to get him back
22 June 2019 5:52
The staff have always been understanding when admitting strays. They do their best for the sake of the animals and it shows they care and are not there for a paycheck.
15 June 2019 11:31
Good service, gentle staff but no real chance to offer a goodbye to our loved pets when surrendered.
10 June 2019 11:42
Was nice to see most of the kennels and cat crates empty. However better cat areas would be better for the kitties.
16 February 2019 1:06
Our dog ran off and was captured by the humane society just before Christmas.they were closed over the holidays and we couldn't find our dog until the day after Boxing Day. When we went to the Humane Society to retrieve the dog they wouldn't let him go unless we gave them over $300 which we didn't have because of Christmas bills.so now my six-year-old son is in his bedroom crying and our dog is taken from us and going to be given away to somebody else or killed. Humane Society what an oxymoron
08 February 2019 2:38
Clean and spacious enclosures for animals. Friendly staff to help out, worth a stop to give company to stray animals or find one to take home.
04 February 2019 11:31
So grateful to have this amazing shelter. Remember to donate your old linens, pillows, sheets and other fuzzy cozy things to them!
30 January 2019 16:45
Heart filled employees.
They really care.
From the start of looking for the perfect pet, during and even the followup calls show support for both the new owner and new pet. Very smooth process.
Iam so appreciative of finally welcoming in my new amazing friend.
Thank you!

I find it disheartening that a so called facility that care of animals would keep a family away from their pet. It is highway robbery. Yes it cost money to care for an animal but what you are doing to Diego is the same thing that a car impound does. You keep adding up the charges so the owner of the car and in this case of an adorable dog, can never afford to "buy back" what is rightfully yours. It is heartless. I will make sure to spread the word on the kind of service you provide. I don't know how you can even sleep with this on your conscience.
22 January 2019 2:39
Great staff. Seeing possible adoptees indoors seemed difficult as there didn't seem to be visiting rooms. We had to go into the kennels to see a dog.but we did get a chance to take him outside, and there were great outdoor facilities.
