I will miss my cat so much but there are NO regrets with her life or her death. It was peaceful. They took us to the room they reserve for people putting their pets to sleep. They had chairs for us to sit on, very dim lighting which was very soothing and we were the furthest away from reception so there was no noise. Chaos just laid peacefully in the bottom half of her pink kennel (it’s almost as old as she was), her new blanket, and we just loved on her until it was time to go.
The only way it could have gone better would’ve been if we could have afforded a euthanasia home visit but honestly, this was nice and I appreciated all their effort. They were so quiet and spoke in quiet, calming tones. I could’ve kissed them but my focus was on Chaos and the environment was completely conducive to the sad task.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! The vets here always have time to answer any questions I have and are gentle and respectful when examining my cat.
Kingston Veterinary Clinic has been fantastic with my two cats. After experiences with other vet clinics in the area, I specifically value KVC's honesty and their approach to patient care. They never push unnecessary treatments and don't over-vaccinate; they are attentive and thorough. Not only do I recommend them here but I always recommend Dr. Ryan Llera to people in the Kingston area.
This clinic is filled with genuine and caring individuals. I’ve had multiple experiences taking my one cat, Levi, here and each time I’ve been met with so much compassion. I switched from another vet and have never looked back
I don't recommend anyone bring their pet here in an emergency, even if it's the closest place. They were not clear whether my cat was stable or in bad condition, the vet choosing to finish their appointment after looking at our cat. Took 35-40 minutes doing x rays and making sure we paid for them before giving us back our unresponsive cat to try to go to the emergency clinic across town. They were not clear or helpful. They let our cat die.
These folks have been taking care of our big canine and old feline for years. They demonstrate utmost professionalism with care, sensitivity, intrest and above all genuine compassion for the critters and their owners. I've been a patron of other vet clinics in the past and have felt pressured to spend $ on unnecessary procedures or meds- this never happened with these folks. Just the facts and respect for my decisions for my charges. They are an asset to the Kingston community. Highly recommend.
Amazing staff and medical treatment. Efficient, prompt and supportive service. They were extremely helpful and wonderful several times with previous life threatening conditions and surgeries.
Paying the "cat tax" with a picture attached from my last visit there where Fluffers is being silly.
We have used them for a couple of years now, and they are unreliable and unsympathetic. On one occasion, our dogs became ill. Bloodwork done on one indicated they had consumed poison. The treatment for this is vitamin K - harmless if you give to a dog who hasn't ingested poison. However, they would not treat both of our dogs unless we brought the other dog into the animal hospital after hours, to have her bloodwork done as well. Again, as another vet informed us, there was no reason to withhold vitamin K treatment. They were ready and willing to let her die. Luckily, you can purchase vitamin K online.
This past weekend, our dog went into labor and had a retained puppy. They would not squeeze her in for an oxytocin shot. A vet in Loyalist (who is not even our vet) showed more compassion and willingness to help. We went there for a shot of oxytocin. She needed a booster shot to get things moving again, and likely would've passed the puppy on her own. However, again, this vet refused to give us an oxytocin shot to take home (which is routine) and refused to see her. We explained all animal hospitals were closed or did not have a veterinarian working. They did not care, they did nothing for us, and again, were fine to leave her with a retained puppy over the weekend. All that was needed was an oxytocin shot.
Because of their unwillingness to help, and a lack of any vets at the 24/7 "animal hospitals" She almost died, again. However, we drove her to a town 2 hours away for care.
Shame on this vet clinic and everyone who works there. They have zero compassion and have made it quite clear they only care about money. Run. Away. Now.
MY OLD REVIEW: Our animals have always received great care here. As customers, we have also always been treated very well. I've always felt their advice to be reasonable, and they provide a space for an open, nonjudgmental dialogue between professionals and pet owners.
Our cat has been ill, we were told by the vet over the phone to bring him in and they would do a radiograph to figure out what was wrong. Our cat gets super stressed when he leaves home, so we get him there just so the receptionist could deny him care cause she THOUGHT he didn't need it. We will NEVER take him back there again, its time we found a vet who really actually cares! They can't even answer their phones or return phone calls. They use to be good years ago, and they lost it. 0/10
Very disorganized place. I am grateful that they took in my pet in an emergency appointment, but I never got the vet to explain to me the results because he seemed to refuse to email me them, instead trying to contact me at work (a place where I don’t have my cellphone available). I hope I’m the odd one out and they’re great to all other caretakers of furry friends.
Very unsatisfactory, not professional at all. Went in to get his claws trimmed. They cut his toe. Didn’t realize till I got home and saw Bloody paw prints on my rug and bedding. Had to rush him back. Got attitude. NOBODY apologized! Didn’t even get a refund offer for the $20 trim. They even said “ oh when we went to trim his nails he jumped “ like it’s the cat’s fault. Are you kidding me! Then said “ we cleaned it, if it keeps bleeding put some sort of baking soda or flour or starch and sent me on my way. Staff of at least 5 and no I am sorry. At a vet clinic. REALLY! I also noticed that when we came back it was about 15 minutes before closing. Were you all on your way out somewhere? Thanks
Everyone at Kingston Veterinary Clinic is friendly and helpful. Whether they were helping me say goodbye to my cats or welcoming my new one into the family, they are caring and compassionate. All my questions are answered and concerns looked after. I would never go anywhere else.
