An amazing experience, truly some of the best sushi and sashimi I have had. The JFC was wonderful and light, and the Oyster Kakimayo was a surprisingly delicious and comforting dish. Great for small sharing plates, a wonderful dining experience with friends. I would highly recommend coming here if you’re looking for great food at a fair price.

Still going strong, this place broke open the izakaya scene in Toronto, and doesn't disappoint. The food is the standout, but the Japanese inspired cocktails are excellent, and service is attentive and cheerful, it's all wrapped up in a spectacular dining room that's cosy and casual, like dining in an upscale barn. Order the miso black cod, tuna and salmon tataki, shrimp tempura, chicken karaage, beef short ribs, and one of the bibimbap options for a full tour dinner. Be sure to let them know if it's your birthday for a special treat!

Had to give a 3 star because of an unexpected min.spend that was sprung on us when we arrived. We made a reservation for a party of 14. We were told that we would be outside in the heated tent. When we arrived they told us each of us had to spend a min. $55 because we booked a big table. Nobody mentioned this to us when we first booked the reservation. While the food and drinks were delicious and we did our best to meet the min.it was a surprise that we were not prepared for. And quite honestly, it's not fair to spring this on people when they arrive after making the reservation for 3 weeks. Management accommodated us somewhat but this should not be a policy that is sprung onto the party when they arrive, which is how it felt. Food and drinks and atmosphere were great, but we all left a little disgruntled that we weren't told about the min.spend policy earlier.

The chairs are so uncomfortable and personals dont know english which makes it harf to communicate

I love the food and when I come in for dine generally have great experiences. But the last few times I ordered from their website the food was not ready when I arrived and the wait time was always 10-30 mins. Today I just asked for a refund. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to a meal after a long day at work.
Whatever the issue is - my suggestion to the business would be either communicate delays or don’t take take out orders at busy times.

Honestly food at kinka is kind of passable but the energy is very good. Always fun to take sake bombs in this place because they make it very fun!

Definitely enjoyed the selection of food. Would love to go back to try the sushi next time.

Fun, authentic, and delicious Izakaya. They have a great set of grill options and an immersive atmosphere. Will come again!

Great for light dinner.we could've easily eaten more if we were hungrier. But we were perfectly served.

Loved the imported sashimi and the lobster sashimi too. Chicken Namban hit the spot. Fun atmosphere with a young attentive staff. $3 Soju shots? There's a catch - gotta cheer with the staff and the rest of the crowd. But hey, why not. I won't forget eating there now!

When this restaurant started it was great, the experience was everything. Now it's just another Japanese restaurant, it lost its unique appeal. The food is still good, but the selection is limited even though the menu had daily specials. Still worth coming every once in a while

Amazing food, loved how the portions and pricing allowed for us to try various items off the menu. Also loved the drinks. Staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable, greeted us soon as we arrived and had held our reservation well pass 30mins as we were running late which was so kind. I understand why they have great reviews all over the city! Can’t wait to come back.

Exceptional service and atmosphere! They did a nice job setting up the patio and I am glad they survived Covid times. The tapas are hit or miss but they were at minimum average. My favs are the takoyaki, yaki udon, and torches salmon sushi. They always have specials which are great. Their hot house sake goes down smooth as well. Will come back again.

Love the patio! Very cozy and cute. The tree going right through the patio is beautiful. The special drinks are delicious and I love the portion size of the udon dishes.

This was an excellent experience! The food was extraordinary and the drinks were awesome. However, the best part was our server, Arnaud. His energy was unmatched and he took really good care of us.

Really nice place. The closest from an authentic Izakaya I could have seen outside Japan. Would recommend.

My wife likes the alcohol drink very much. It is the same decoration as previous Guu Izakaya, which brings me a lot of old memories. Duck breast is exceptional with the dressings.

Really good, but beware that portion sizes may be smaller than expected. But the taste makes up for it.

Food was delicious and the shashimi was good quality. It's a little loud but food made up for the noise. Would definitely go again!

Came with a friend for dinner on the outside patio- it's fully covered so no need to worry about rain or hot sunny days!

The Salmon Special was cool, they mix in the egg with the dish for you to wrap in seaweed to eat. It was really hot when we ate and the seaweed went soft in minutes but they were nice enough to give us new crisp ones!

Duck breast, nanohana, Udon and Salmon Belly were all good but nothing special. The oshizushis were amazing with the sauce and toppings!

Amazing Izakaya with extensive outdoor seating options, food was overall very decent and good prices, great Sapporo on tap! Would recommend for a taste of Japan

I miss the indoor dining and the music! Went here for my partner’s birthday the other evening for the first time since the pandemic. The food was sooo good! But I was sad they didn’t have the baked oysters anymore! Ouu that chicken karaage was massive, hot, and fresh.

Amazing Japanese restaurant with various choices of food to share. The place is very nice, staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. Definitely worth trying!

Wonderful culinary experience. As an amateur sushi lover, this restaurant really enhanced my understanding of Japanese cuisine. I had an after-work meal with around 16 colleagues, we were seated comfortably in an intimate section which was part indoor and patio area. Glad to see mocktails on the menu; the mojito was delicious! Food was beautifully presented and was shareable. Torched pressed shrimp, mackerel and salmon were incredible. We also had edamame, fried prawns and a salmon sashimi dish. Some dishes came much later than others but otherwise, service was excellent and the servers were attentive. Would love to return.

Edit 2019-08-19: Visited here for dinner. Everything on their special menu looked good so we ordered nearly everything. That was my own mistake but the duck breast was juicy and tender, the tokyo fries were crispy and tasty, as were the rest of the dishes. Their cocktails are also worth trying as well!

Original: Came here to celebrate with a group of friends. We had to wait more than 45 minutes for our food, but once it started coming everything was fantastic. The servers were very busy as expected but still attentive. We all had a great time and a fantastic dinner!

Absolutely incredible food accompanied by even better service and atmosphere. Thank you to Jay and the rest of the team for a wonderful evening and dining experience. Highly recommended to both locals and those visiting.

Good service, the home made sake taste really good. The place is really authentic with tasty food and they have a 2 patios if you like eating outdoor

It wasn't clear where the entrance was and we waited 15 minutes to be assigned to a table where we waited at least 30 minutes before being able to order. My food arrived at least 10 minutes later than my girlfriend's and it tasted just okay. After we were finished eating, we waited at the very least 1h15 for a waiter to take our plates away and bring us the check. We also weren't offered water for the entire diner wich was very salty, like the waiters themselves.

First of all, if you’re starving and if you haven’t eaten anything the entire day or two, then prepare to order pretty much everything on the menu. They have decent portions per meal. You might have to order multiple dishes in order to get to that bloated state. But the food is just mouth watering. If you like sashimi like I do, I highly recommend ordering all their salmon dishes! Also, try their Cherry Blossom cocktail drink! You’re welcome ️

Such a fun dining experience, cant wait for them to open again. The atmosphere is always super uplifting and the staff are always amazing. Their baked oysters are a must, so sad they dont offer them for takeout but cant wait to order them once everything opens up again

Called them this morning to make a reservation the following week. The lady I talked to left an unpleasant experience as she persisted that she can't take reservations on a call but they have to be made online. I told her the website didnt allow any reservations and raised my concern saying I hope to make the reservation now because other people may book the slot I want next week. Her first reaction was a huge sigh and she said try it next Monday. How inflexible is this? They cant take reservations via calls when their website doesnt even allow online reservations. You just lost a group of 6 customers. Bye.

A fun place to eat and the food is very good. I found prices a little high but the staff were very friendly. Seating in normal times is tight.

If you ever looking for a unique dining experience- look no further! They have a couple locations but I am fond of the original end location. The dishes are delicious and unique, plus the atmosphere is vibrant and like no other!

The food is superb. I order by delivery and even that, packed with care is delicious and worth the moderate price. Unagi pressed sushi is the bomb. Everything I've ordered is excellent!

This app keeps pressuring me to review. I did not like the food very much but giving 5* because the service was great and the food is probably great for what it is, it's just not for me. For example the chicken ramen had a fishy taste to it

The second time I visited the waiter was extremely rude in not accepting our order for more drinks because he "thought" we were too drunk. I found his attitude very rude.

2 Stars because I had an amazing time the first time I visited!
